Windows PC?
Go into Device Manager and delete the Samsung device.
Reboot your computer
Download the USB drivers and install
Reboot again
plug in phone and see if it detects.

Do you have Samsung Kies?
(That's probably a dumb question now that I think about it..but that's where I got my drivers when I rooted it)
http://www.samsung.com/us/support/downloads/SGH-I997ZKAATT
One of the superoneclick packages has drivers included, that's what I used.

You may need to powen off and power on phone for driver installation.
to root :
disable anti-virus
also put your phone in usb debugging mode.
download again superone click or lost1's zip file(there is root script file inside zip)

That's most likely because you haven't uninstalled and reinstalled your drivers. That's why I suggested a package with known working drivers.

Did you go by this guide?

Also, did you download Samsung Kies? You need that program installed (it installs the correct drivers on your computer) in order for your computer to recognize your phone while USB debugging is enabled. Also, make sure you unmount your external SD card.
(I did this from Windows XP, not sure if this is all required with other OS's or not).

One of the SuperOneClick packages includes Samsung drivers, so no need to install Kies if you use that package. You still need to point Windows to the drivers when it pops up "install hardware" windows.
I also used WinXP. While SuperOneClick officially supports Linux, it has NEVER worked for me on any Ubuntu system, always hanging at "chmod psneuter" with multiple devices.
Thanks i already root my infuse

"Shut down all the garbage mashers on the Detention Level!"
Go to device manager and delete all the USB drivers, reboot pc and try again. Assuming you're on windows.

Followed the directions to install the rom as it is loading halfway through it stops and I get the error I stated in my post. I can get it into download mode and plugged into my win 7 pc but it is not recognized so I can connect to odin to install GB
I'd use the Heimdall one-clicks to recover personally, though some prefer the ODIN-based gremlin removers.
I'm guessing you came from stock, or a stock-based ROM? If so, you probably need to install the Google drivers or use the tool in the Drivers folder of the (full) Heimdall download.

How will this work if PC won't recognize the phone?
It sounds like you have a driver problem. You need to fix that first.

Yeah I agree the problem is even when I download them when I plug the phone into any usb port it is not recognizing. Every other usb device I have plugged into same ports works fine.
I would search for one of the many threads that go over this. Basically, there are Samsung drivers, Google drivers, and the drivers that Heimdall supplies. Windows is notorious for not handling drivers well. Briefly, you need to remove all the phone drivers you have installed and get the "right" ones installed. When you flashed, the device probably changed, so it needs different drivers that you had before.
Without the right drivers, even though Windows handles other USB devices properly, it doesn't know how to "talk" with your phone right now as it is likely using the wrong driver.

Cool ty, what should I be searching for in these threads to find what I need?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1910774 for example
You need to uninstall all your phone-related USB drivers, then install the ones that work. For me the zadig.exe and Heimdall have been the most reliable.
I haveyour similar problem how you got into download mode

Is there a way to check for other phone-related usb drivers other than uninstall programs?
It's Windows. You're lucky you don't have to reinstall the OS from scratch!
No matter what Microsoft wants you to think, Windows isn't plug-n-play. You will have to manually remove and install drivers, as well as likely manage them in the Devices section of the system management console. You can't skip the reboots either.

In the guide by lumin30, I think it is called fresh out of the box sgs4g, there is a program for windows called usbeview that will let you remove the various drivers.

In the thread it should tell you what to look for. I would read that thread a couple times as it has a lot of screen caps and very useful information. Most of your questions on how to get back to stock is answered within it.
Try instal Ubuntu in Windows mode.
In Ubuntu, install the lastest jdk, and you don't have to worry about the windows driver.
Please take your time to read this.I will keep it quite short, but try to understand my problem.
Ok so I am trying to enable USB debugging for my Nexus 5.But everytime I try to install the ADB driver, it says parameter is incorrect (I'm using windows vista).
At first, I didn't have the SDK installed, so I downloaded the 70 MB SDK Manager, and from there I downloaded the platform tools & google drivers, then I tried installing the drivers manually using the Device manager using both methods of locating the file manually using the have disk method and the locate the directory and include sub folders method..but both have failed to install the driver and it keeps saying the parameter is incorrect.
Suggestions?
Use a different driver from the one included in the SDK. Either use the USB driver package provided by lg(I did this and it went flawlessly) or use the "naked adb driver" which is a simple adb driver that should just work.(I used the former because the naked driver is third party and not properly signed, so it's a pain to install on windows 8)
Find either through a Google search.
Edit: nvm this guide includes the links required: http://www.theandroidsoul.com/nexus-5-driver-adb-fastboot-installation-guide/

i am sorry to ask this but are you having problem enabling usb debugging? did you activate developer option by tapping build number seven times?
Man this stuff gave me such a headache same issue here. But with fastboot. I had to manually update the drivers while the phone was plugged in. That's what messed me up.
First uninstall all drivers
While phone is on.
Update drivers with USB debugging enabled
While phone is in boatloader
Update again.
Adb and fastboot should work fine after that. Use one of the exe type drivers. Like LGS driver .exe than go into the device manager and update. Let the computer find the drivers.

Hey guys I followed the correct instructions and downloaded the correct files (cf auto root and Google drivers) but my PC can't find/detect my device and because of that when I run the windows command it stays on "waiting for device" and nothing happens. Is there something I did wrong? Do I need to download something else? Any help would be much appreciated

I take it you have created a path in windows /android-sdk/platform-tools ?
Have you disabled usb driver signature authentication if you`re on Win8/8.1?
You could try removing the device in device manager and also uninstalll all drivers, then dis- and reconnect to the pc and install the google usb drivers from the sdk manualy.

You might try installing the USB naked drivers 0.73 from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/goo...nt/adb-fb-apx-driver-universal-naked-t2513339.

Download the correct drivers and after connecting the phone to the PC/Laptop, go to Device Manager and right-click the entry with the yellow triangle, then Update Driver, Browse My Computer For Drivers, then Let Me Pick From A List of Available Drivers On My Computer and then choose the drivers you downloaded and install.
If still facing issues, driver signing may be an issue, so search the internet on how to install drivers after turning off driver signing on the PC/Laptop.
