[Q] Skype sound is very very weak.. - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
Anybody have issue with Skype on Asus Transformer Prime 1.7 Final ?
Somehow for me the sound is very very very very very weak even I am using head phone also very weak.
But all other apps and music working normal it just the left and right speaker is not balanced but again is really weak....is it just for my TF or other people also experiencing the same problem ?
Thanks.

Not to sound rude, but do you have both volume controls turned up?

Thanks for replying but I already try to increase any volume I can found by using the side volume rocker or using docking volume up and also try to search skype option but cannot found any volume configuration.
Btw sorry again as I remember I only do wipe all when I install prime 1.6 and when I upgrade to prime 1.7 I just install it without wipe all is that gonna be an issue ?
I am thinking do wipe all and re install everything from scratch if nobody having the same issue with me ^_^.
Again thank you very much for your help.
ok In progress wipe all and re install everything again, if it fix my problem will update here again ^_^
ok finish wipe all data and also wipe cache partition ( thats the only wipe option I can found on recovery ) and after that.....still the same issue I already set all volume to max and yet my skype voice call is still whispering T_T but all other apps and music and other games sounds is loud and normal T_T.

T_T just to ask again is there anybody out there using their Transformer for skype voice call and their sound is good loud n clear ? because mine is really whispering I dont even can hear the call tone if my ear distance to transformer more than 5 cm .......

You can use gtalk or fring, i have the same problem with skype but on the other two platforms, it's all ok, good sound, good quality.

finally thats the answer i am waiting, so my TF is normal its skype issue.
Thank to confirm that. Btw I already try to wipe all 2x hahaha. Thx again Ademaren

I'm also using Prime and have the same issue with sound. The sound output with skype is just extremely low! I also have a kernel with voodoo support and it didn't help.
Did anyone find a solution for this issue?

volume control + from the market seemed to do the trick for me.

This solved my problem!
I saw that I had the volume for calling muted and the ring volume was also on leve 1 or 2.
Thanks

Skype ASUS Transformer!

Just arrived via email! Looks like you can just get it from market?
Has anyone tested this with the transformer? I will shortly.
Actually for all Android devices past 2.3?

Funny because I was just circling back on this topic today and was actually going to try installing my working modified skype, for HTC Thunderbolt, on my Transformer..
wrong title. No it doesn't have video calling on honeycomb, look at the compatibility list.
Bummer.. Guess I was a little too excited.. The email sent to me didn't say anything about specific models..
... please just remove / rename the thread to make clear that THERE IS NO SKYPE with working VIDEO yet ...
this what makes the cat killed
...are there any news about skype with video?
NOT about VIDEO
Not sure that it's the right topic, but since it's called "Skype ASUS Transformer" I'll try to ask this question.
I'm using Skype to make phone calls abroad, and I use it with a wired headset (earphones with mic). SO, the problem is that I can't make Skype sound any louder (or quieter for that matter) . I can barely hear people I talk to. I tried to move around all sliders in Setting --> Sound --> Volume, but it doesn't affect the other people voice I hear through Skype... The hard buttons for Volume +/- doesn't seem to affect the Skype Volume either.
Anybody encountered this problem? Am I missing something / stupid? Is it normal for all skype users?
Same issues - built in speaker/mic have way to low a sound to be usable with Skype. Same issue with bluetooth. Wired headset is usable if in a quiet place but no volume control.
If the sound is too low, and you have a rooted TF, you might want to try Voodoo Control, which is available through the market. Voodoo Control will let you boost the volume level beyond what is allowed via the standard volume controls.

Yes, video call is working with the new update with the Revolution HD 1.2.2 You'll need to enable video calling because it is disabled by default. Also support automatic rotation!

Found it, thanks, i wasn't on the home page.
Thanks working for me as well.
Works very well for me, too.
Great, great, great, great!
For those who say it's working: You're not getting the audio problem (sound level is very low/weak)? Video is perfect. Can barely hear anything.
If sound is ok for you, can you describe your setup? (Rooted with Voodoo fix or something else)
Works on Stock as well
Yes I do have very weak sound.. Even with the headset!!

Very low in call earpiece volume after 4.4.2 update

Hey Guys -
Black 16GB Nexus 5 here. My in call volume using the earpiece is very very low since the 4.4.2 update. I have the volume maxed out and have already cleared cache, and even data reset once. Did not help at all.
The only way to use the phone making a call is to use a headset or be indoors in a very quiet room. Even then it's hard to hear the caller using the earpiece. I always have to use a headset for making calls.
I remember the in call volume being louder before the 4.4.2 update. After the update, however, the microphone functionality is improved and people can hear me better now (compared to 4.4.0 stock). However, it's hard for me to hear them.
I just wanted to see if someone else faced this problem or whether this is a manufacturing defect in my phone.
Thanks.

Do you use stock kernel/etc? May have been a bad update with software, may have to reflash if persists. But before that, try wiping data/cache of sound MusicFX (I believe is the sound production point) and reboot. Try again to see if sound improved. Check volume levels and settings as well.

Thanks for replying.
Yes I am on stock Kernel. Just used Chainfire's root to root the phone and unlock the bootloader. I used ADB/fastboot to apply the 4.4.2 update.
The sound is fine from the speaker. The music and everything else is fine. Even the notifications are a little louder in 4.4.2 than they were in 4.4.0.
It's just that the earpiece volume is very low while making calls when I have the phone to my ear. Everything else is great. The battery is excellent. I use ART runtime.
Should I reapply the 4.4.2 update using the ADB install method? Will that help? Can you please tell me how to wipe the cache of Sound/Music FX? I wiped the cache of the whole phone. I went into Recovery and Wiped cache partition. That did not help as well.
I am wondering whether this is a hardware defect on my phone or Google intentionally lowered the earpiece volume in 4.4.2.
Thanks.

Not hardware defect, volume is fine everywhere else as you said. Try redoing and push after wiping musicfx, this can be done by settings> apps> go to all tab>find musicfx> wipe. Try that first and reboot.
Ice looked around and it seems Kitkat has bug with Bluetooth volume levels for stock. My other solution would be, if you want, a custom ROM, or to check out ViperFX to replace the musicfx as default sound effects (under settings and sound tab) (which contains Bluetooth MODs and Super Quality mode). Personally used this and works amazingly with Nexus 5.

I've also started using viper4Android in the High quality mode. It works really well with Music. But it doesn't do so well when making calls with earpiece. The voice starts to distort, cut and crack. So while using calls, I generally disable phone speaker in Viper4Android.
I just cleared cache. Will try to install Android 4.4.2 again. As I said before, all sounds are ok (music, phone speaker call ring, notification etc). It's just the earpiece volume which is really low. Are you able to make phone calls fine using the earpiece (without using a headset)?
Thanks.

Yes, but Viper audio is best with Super Audio (its not battery draining as claimed), its just as normal as high quality yet call quality is excellent. Try this as well. I've used headset now and again, no issues so see how the reinstall goes. But I would highly recommend the super quality very much. Try and see if you like. Also, if you have no objections, custom kernels have great sound support (such as faux sound) that can also fix and greatly improve sound/Bluetooth quality. Report when reflash done and methods you tried.

Thanks for the suggestions. I installed Viper4android with Super Audio. It definitely makes a difference while using the headset. It doesn't do much to the earpiece in call volume. That remains the same.
Other than that I've cleared the cache and wiped cache paritition. Is there any way to just reinstall 4.4.2 on top of 4.4.2 again?
My phone is stock recovery rooted with chainfire's autoroot. When 4.4.2 came, I just installed it using ADB and stock recovery (update using Zip). Can I do this again without losing any data? Or will i have to reflash system to stock and then start over?
Thanks.
You can just fastboot flash the system.img

Thank you. If I do this, I won't be losing any data and the phone will work as is?
So I need to extract system.img from the factory image of 4.4.2 from the google servers.
Then the ADB command is:
fastboot flash system system.img
Could you please confirm before I do this. Thanks.
There is a thread in the theme and apps section which has a mod for louder volume on all outputs... Worked brilliantly for me

[Q] help please-s.voice quiet!!

Ok, so you may or may not love S-voice, but i use it!
For some reason, the S.voice feedback is really quiet.
It was fine, then for some strange reason(intact, it was speaking to me, then the exercise feedback spoke over it) and ever since then its been quiet.
multiple resets, all sound and volume alterations/configurations have been tried...nothing!!
All other output is perfect, just this thats quiet
I have even connected to my iPhone and Siri blasts out the speaker nice and loud, so I'm really confused.
Cant see an option to recover in Kies, so does anyone have any suggestions??
many thanks guys

Update
Proper sound came back of its own accord.... But then the same thing happened again... It simply went quiet!
Does anyone have any ideas for a reinstall of the ROM?
When connecting to kies,I can't get an option to do a proper factory reinstall??
Loving this watch and it's many features so assistance would be greatly received
back again
Full volumes back again
I was on a call on my watch and put the volume for the call up to Max volume.... And her pesto, s voice on the watch went back to full volume again!!
Coincidence?, I'm not sure but I'm not unhappy that it's back!

Whatsapp Voice Calls Too Loud!!!

Hey All,
I have a problem with Whatsapp voice calls, the volume of the conversation on the earpiece is too loud even on the lowest setting, I have to put the phone away from my ear in order to hear.
This is only on Whatsapp Calls. In regular phone calls and Viber calls it is normal and I can lower the earpiece volume normally.
Anything I can do to fix this? I tried uninstalling and reinstalling a different version of Whatsapp but it didn't fix the problem.
Any app that can lower the volume even more?
Thank you kindly in advance.
I think it's not a Whatsapp problem. I just noticed that Viber calls are also loud!! It seems that's a problem affecting data calls only.
If i restart my phone the problem goes away for a few minutes and then comes back.
Very frustrating...
mine does the same. I don't use viber, but whatsapp sure is loud. I actually noticed call volume doesn't affect whatsapp call actual volume. As you say it's too loud at the minimum, but it's exactly the same even at the max. It's like it's stuck at max volume, and lowering call volume in the phone doesn't actually affect real whatsapp call volume. is this your case too?
The volume in Whatsapp might be based on 'Media' volume setting instead of call volume setting -- of course, this would be a bug as well. Try reducing the Media volume level before or during a call and see if that helps. Settings -> Sounds and vibration -> Volume -> Media. Hope it resolves your issue.

That was my first thought too, unfortunately none of the volumes have effect on the whatsapp call volume..
Yes it's exactly the same thing. I also tried lowering all the volumes like media and call and ringtones... i even performed a restore to factory settings to no avail. Very annoying!
you can change that in settings

Change what in settings?
We mentioned that we tried lowering all the volumes from the settings. Is there any other setting to change?
Furthermore i noticed that sometimes if i make the Whatsapp call, there is no problem. But if i receive the call and answer it, the volume will be stuck on loud.
Please someone help.
Thank you.
I'm having this problem too. Extremely frustrating and I'm considering returning the handset and getting something non-Samsung because of it.

PS I have contacted WhatsApp customer support and they don't seem to be able to help - it appears to be a Samsung bug.
What can we do? Wait for a software update from Samsung?
no hints?
Well it seems that the recent Samsung Firmware update released this week around 300MB solved the issue, fingers crossed.
I'll keep testing though... and will report back.
Same issue here but with S4 and this thing started with lolipop update and persists.
Have you tried resetting it to factory settings after the update?
Tried two different roms and it was a clean install every time, I'm not using ota. This is a problem with lolipop TW roms on S4 and seems lke S7. Maybe android 6 fixing this bug? I can't try cause there are no 6 for s4.
I have a LG v30 and same problem .. cannot change call volume no matter what

Hello, It was a firmware issue which was fixed in Stock ROM's, it won't be fixed in custom ROM's. You need to buy a pair of headphones with inline volume control.

Low incoming call volume

Has anybody experienced low incoming call volume? It works great on blue-tooth.
Thanks.
I actually have the opposite issue - normal call volume is awesome, but blue tooth call volume is low.

I agree. This is a serious problem especially when I am using public transport as it becomes really hard to hear the caller most of the time unless I am in a quiet place. I hope this problem as well as the back button blinking issue (appears to be data transmission related on 4G) is also fixed when Android 7 is finally released for ZF3U.

Got the same problem.
Found two suggestions in Internet:
1. Go Engineer Menu *#*#3646633#*#*
Put all values for sound to max.
2. Downloaded ASUS Madia wizard.
Raise all vales to max.
But in vain. Still the problem persists.
Please suggest anything, if you have beaten that problem.
Hi! I cannot enter the Engineering Code as mentioned above. Each time I type it at the last symbol it clears the whole code. Is there a different code for the ZF3U? My in-call volume is non existent and I am still trying to find a fix.
