WiFi not working?
I just installed this Rom and now wireless is not working any suggestions?
EDIT: It was my router config all is well.
Gps Issues
I love this Rom but I can't get my gps to work very well. I tried Lee's and cyno just didn't like them but the GPS worked. I really don't want to have to switch away from it just because I can't use apps that use my gps ( mapmyrun, google latitude)
Sometimes, it will work with an accuracy of like 800-2000 ft after fixing for 10-15 minutes. I have tried every solution on the Android Revolution F.A.Q section Q.14. It worked fine before and if I switch to a different ROM. Also, I have tried apps like GPS FIX, Faster fix, and Gps essentials. My radio is the suggested one for the ROM.
Any ideas I'm desperate?
Also I have noticed when trying this fix.

gps.conf file (inside system\etc):
I have no gps.conf file at all.
Any ideas?
So my question.. By far ARHD is my favorite rom, the only issue I'm having is that every once in awhile when i try to unlock the phone it won't respond the anything. The only way to get it to turn on again is a battery pull. I remember when I had my captivated I had similar issues but muuuuch worse. I followed the flashing directions line by line and did a full wipe. The last time it happened was today right before I updated to 5.2.4 so ill see if this makes it any better. Any ideas why this is happening, does my processor not like OC and I need to scale it down? Other than that I love everything about the rom thanks in advance for any help.
Does anybody have any idea why I can't set a permanent screen lock? It's like everytime I set a pattern lock or PIN lock, it works once then no longer requires a pattern or PIN to unlock my phone depending on which one I chose to use. Any help would be appreciated.

That is a good guess. Test it out by scaling it down and monitoring what the behavior is. Mike's rom should be set at 1.152gHz out of the box. That is not high at all but every phone is different and if you have yours set higher your particular phone may not like it.

That is a strange one. Mine works with no problems on AR. Sorry I could not give you a better clue as to why this is happening. Possibly try flashing again to see if that solves it. Either that or do you have any lock switch type apps that may be causing some kind of problem?

Hmm. I don't have any type of apps that could cause this and I've already tried flashing it again but the problem still persists. Oh well, no biggie. Thanks for the reply.

After you set the pattern or pin did you change the inactivity setting? I believe default is it will only lock after 5 minutes of inactivity. After you set the pattern/pin the second setting down is "Lock phone after" then gives you the selections immediately, 3 mins, 5 mins and so on. Make sure its set to immediately. That would be my best guess from the info you provided.

I am currently using this rom and I think its great. The only problem I've had was downloading from the Android market. But it started to work all of a sudden a few days ago.
Thanks for the ROM. Great work.
Well, I just upgraded from 5.2.5 (which I installed this morning) to 5.2.6... very smooth upgrade.
Well, mostly smooth anyway. I have the sense 3.0 lockscreen installed and although it works in terms of pulling the ring up to unlock, there are no icons (and yes, I have configured the ones I want there) and no matter which lockscreen I choose under personalizations, I just get the same background I have on my home screen with no icons, no clock, no weather, no nothin'. I did so a SuperWipe when I installed 5.2.5 this morning, but the dev's notes say you don't have to SuperWipe if you are installing over another 5.2 release.
Incidentally, I saw the exact same misbehavior under 5.2.5 and was hoping it might get fixed.
Other than that it seems to run real well though. Is the 3.0 lockscreen working for others?
Installed the "Restore HTC Lock-Screen for Android Revolution HD 5.2.x " mod to revert to the non sense 3.0 lockscreen, and it works, but I notice that under "personalize -> lockscreen" it still shows the sense 3.0 ones, and lets you modify and select one, but it doesn't work.
Although I normally use an external bluetooth GPS, I just tested the internal one with 5.2.6 and it locked on quickly and gave about 16' accuracy.
I've been using this ROM for the past few days and I think its great.
However, I didn't flash a new radio (the one suggested on the thread). Is that alright? Will I see a huge difference flashing a new radio over the stock one?
does the new APN trick work with AR HD for the wifi tethering?
Hello anyone
1st thread posted ever...utter noob needs help.
I have managed to root my Sensation and can now easily load custom ROMs.
But one thing I have noticed since I rooted my phone is that the screen will not turn black when I answer call and put the phone to my face. I think this is also connected to the fact the buttoms dont light up if I cover the sensor.
I have searched everywhere I can and cant find anything useful. I dont think it is a problem with the hardware as it was working before.
Hey Mr. Price, thanks for the text. what rom are u using?
well if it was working when it was stocked, have u tried to flash stock RUU
Hey man, cheers for all your help so far. Just found something odd. The home buttons do light up but only when I change the brightness of the screen (i changed it via power widget) they stay on until I press the power button, then back to square 1. Still no joy on the proximity sensor though. Do you have link on how to put everything back so I can start from scratch? Think I was on a different hboot but don't know if that makes any difference.

As i said, go to my Guide, in post 1, at the bottom of step 4 it tells u to flash ruu. with a link to it. just download it to your phone, connect your phone and run,
As the title suggests, I have a Nexus S i9023 (no root, perfectly clean) and the major problem is that i've upgrade the phone to ICS manually and now there are some things that don't work (recovery, light sensor, etc.). I know that there are a lot of threads like this, i know that the problem of the recovery is a problem of brightness, but i wanna know which ROM i've to flash. I'm using the build IML74K.
Another problem is that sometimes the keyboard freezes. Is it caused by the wrong build?
Which rom did you flash?
Try lastest version of ics
I'm using ICS 4.0.3, build IML74K, flashed manually.

I am using the same on my i9023 with no issues, only difference is I am rooted and have clockwork recovery. I suggest a re flash.
I'll try to re-flash the same ROM. If it won't work i'll root the phone and i'll flash CM9.
Anyway, how can i solve the problem of the keyboard? I don't think it's a problem of the build.
I've flashed the ROM for Nexus S i9023 two times but the problems still remain. Any suggestion?

Only thing I can suggest is installing clockwork recovery, rooting etc and flashing another rom to see if the problem persists, if so then it probably a hardware issue.
Also where did you get the rom your flashing? There is a thread in the general section with the full rom package I used. Its on the first page at the mo.
Ok maybe there's no solution (i'm new in this forum so i can't post link as the one below):
code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=23065&can=1&q=ics%20nexus%20s%20i9023%20recovery&colspec=ID%20Type%20Status%20Owner%20Summary%20Stars
So I think it will be fixed in the next release. I ask confirmation if someone knows something.

Yeah that's the one, flash the full rom package. You may just have a corrupt .zip.
Alredy done two times, but the problem remains. Mmmh i don't think it's a corruption problem, i mean, i've tried to put the update in the phone from two PC.

Recovery: Known problem. Backlight stays off. Nothing you can do without unlocking your bootloader or rooting. Angle + lamp will show you what is on the screen.
Light Sensor: It's still buggy. With the phone locked, cover your hand over the light sensor (left of the ear piece while facing the phone). Hand still covering, unlock the phone. After a few seconds, remove your hand and face it under a light source. What i've noticed is it'll get brighter initially but refuse to darken again. Of course, you need to have Automatic brightness adjustment (just in case it isn't set to auto).
Unsure about your keyboard problem though, but it does like to stay open for longer than i'd like after going back to the home screen.

Yeah, it remains open also after going back to the home screen, and it doesn't work. The only way is to crash it by going to the setting of the keyboard in the notifications.

Mine doesn't remain open though,. It just stays for say half a second, then animates away. Would be much more perfected if it went away while animating the previous window away, not a second later. I've not experienced the keyboard causing those kind of problems.
Might be wise to try SwiftKey or some other kind of keyboard alternative? That is easily enough to sway me away from stock.

I agree. I'll wait for an Experimental Mod of CM9, then i'll root the phone.

If you have problems (like the recovery one and the light sensor) with ICS 4.0.3, build IML74K, on your Nexus S i9023 there's nothing you can do, probably Google will fix it on his next update 4.0.5.
I'll just add that many custom ROMs allow light sensor manipulation. I hear there are great, working settings, its just the stock calibration that sucks. I've not tried this myself, but should be available in cm9, cna, etc.

Hi all,
just bought an Inspire off CL, and unfortunately didn't reallize that the screen won't rotate. I trired recalibrating, but it kept being aborted even though I put the phone flat on the table on its back. A search turned up tons of complaints from about a year ago with few resolutions, and none worked for me (reboot, recalibrate, kill all apps with adv task killer, switch sim card, etc.)
So the big question is, would rooting the phone and flash custom rom solve the problem? Has anyone solved the problem with the g-sensor?
Sent from my NookColor using Tapatalk
Is the phone rooted? Some roms have customizations to lock the screen and keep it from rotating. Do any screens rotate? Or is the home screen just not rotating?
Try going to home> settings> display and check auto rotate screen.
Sent from Soundwave aboard Nemesis.
Auto-rotate is checked. Apps the should rotate (e.g. Google search, email) don't rotate, and most frustrating is that games that use the g-sensor just won't work. The phone is running stock Gb 2.3.3.

If not rooted I would root and try a custom rom would hurt nothing. But make sure you use Ace Hack Kit and no out of XDA method. Also read, read, then read the Effen manual and make sure your knowledged on the steps for rooting. If you get stuck anywhere there is an IRC chat connection in the Ace Hack Kit page.
The thing about buying used phones from someone else is like buying a used car. Your basically buying some elses headache.
The other option would be to return to seller for money back, your option.
PS: If you decide to try out a ICS ROM remember that the kernels are not fully released as of yet so some games will not fully work and do have a few bugs depending on how it reacts with your phone. For gingerbread I would try a few out and see which one you like.
(Absolution 3.7 , Coredroid 9.4) lol my preference but thats a can a worms you dont want to open here on XDA by asking which is best ROM so dont.
Welcome and Enjoy the learning.
Ok, so all the reading made the rooting process seem somewhat intimidating. However, when I actually screwed up the courage to do it, it was like, that's it? It's donde in under 5 minutes, and I hardly did anything!
So the good news is that the phone is now rooted and flashed with coredroid (looks nice!). The bad news is that there's no change in the problem with the g-sensor! I'm starting to suspect that it's more likely hardware. In any case, I wonder if there are any Roms that might have a better shot at fixing the problem? Somehow I have the probably wrong impression that a custom rom that's modded from stock aren't likely to fix my problem... Any suggestions?

Yeah, if you had a sensor problem before the root and it persists after, it is more then likely a hardware issue and no amount of rooting/flashing a new ROM is gonna fix it. If you're under warranty, unroot and send it back for a replacement.

Did you look in setting for rotation display settings. Some launchers like adw launcher lets you also check and uncheck rotation angles. All roms are great in their own way, try a few on for size but I would give them each at least a week or two of testing. A day or two is not really enough to get the feel of them. You can try Absolution 3.7 , Redemption Alpha 6 (ICS) , or even go over to the Desire HD Dev section and try out - Ice Cold Sandwich 7.2 (ICS) (also dont forget to flash inspirmod as well with this one). Also these three will get rid of the stock look.
Good Luck
The phone was bought off craigslist, so no hope of return or warranty. Rotate sreen in settings has been checked, as well as g-sensor calibration (which invariably ends in abort, even after rooting and flashing coredroid. I might try absolution in a few days.
The phone is for my son, and he cares a lot more whether the accelerometer works (for games) than how nice the rom looks.
One problem I found after flashing coredroid is that even at boot up tbe email app keep crashing (without me opening the app). Anyone knows whats up with this?

Did you do a full wipe (factory, cache partition, dalvik) before flashing rom. Coredroid has a zip called full wipe 1.5 as well.
I flashed absolution, and it didn't help with the g-sensor problem at all. I put coredroid back, this time wiping data and cache, and the email problem went away. I guess my son will have to live with the g-sensor as is. Thanks to everyone who replied for the suggestions.

I wanted to try it and found out you have to set a bu pin if face isn't recognized. Is there a safety issue with this as when flashing roms etc, the face unlock may get lost and the pin don't work. Or, is it pretty failsafe.
Also, thought I read somewhere about some issues with Chrome to Phone--had it working fine on N1. Is it running good on One S?
BTW video streaming to my Sony LED Bigscreen was flawless
I thought you lose these settings when flashing roms...

You are correct sir.
The 2ndary line of protection (pattern unlock, pin, etc.) is just for conditions where the face detection won't work. Try it in light situations that are not broad daylight and you will see that this is an obvious shortcoming of face unlock. There is no front flash, and if there was I would not like to be blinded by it so if it fails to detect your face / any face at all it will just ask for pin/pattern.
Appreciate the replies
I was going to play with it, but may pass it up. Don't need to lose unlock pin thru flashing and be stuck
Would like to get back to Chrome To Phone, but will research a little more on any issues--

I don't think you understand, if you flash a new ROM, face unlock and pin won't be activated, you will need to set it up again.

Try Chrome Beta. It has Tab Syncing which is arguably better than Chrome 2 Phone because you don't even have to hit send.
I was using both successfully on my N1. Just had read some issues with the beta on the One S. Maybe just a few folks and no big issue. I will give it a shot and see. I have both on phone now, just haven't set them up yet.
Ken
I think your concern over the face lock is a bit misplaced.
1. Anytime you are installing a brand new ROM you should have done a full wipe of the device anyway which means you would have to re-setup your security features as these are not backed up in any way.
2. If the it cant get a face recognition it defaults to the basic android pattern or pin screen just like any other phone, it is not a special screen or lock. And, just like any other android phone if you forget your pattern or pin it is just going to prompt you to enter your gmail address and password to gain access after which it would have you redo your security options.
3. Worst case scenario: you are totally locked out and gmail address and password don't get you in....hard button reset and then restore from Titanium Backup. If you are flashing new roms I assume you are using this anyway.
did read about gmail password getting you in
haven't played with feature yet
appreciate info
