Wifi bug intro - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I'm currently on the Tiamat 2.01 ROM and as we all know, there was a bug introduced somewhere that causes a Wifi dropout (OS 3.2). Also, in following the CM7 forums for my Droid X, I noticed that the same type of Wifi dropout bug was introduced when they went to OS 2.3.5.
I find it odd that around the same time, on two different OS'es virtually the same problem cropped up. Is it possible these two issues are linked? Or is it just a really weird coincidence?

Liberated Aria 2.1 Wifi Drop Post-Market Update

I'm still using the 2.1 OS version of Liberated Aria. I just wanted to post this up in case anyone else has the issue. Ever since the market updated, it has caused issues with my wifi signal failing.
To recreate the issue: I visit the market place, whether to update existing apps or to download new ones.
What happens: The H icon pops up next to my wifi signal and shows incoming and outgoing traffic. My wifi is still technically connected, at least according to the phone. However, none of the downloads will work (they simply stay at 0%) and no websites will load. It is as if the two networks are canceling one another out.
I am going to flash Froyo, so I'm not worried about the issue at this point. I just wanted to put it out there in case anyone else is having the issue, or if it is related to the people who are having Wifi issues with their 2.2 roms.
Quick updated. I flashed the latest Liberated Aria Froyo. The issue still occurs, however it only lasts a split second, and then corrects itself.

WiFi/Bluetooth - ICS -Lets share version numbers that appear to be fine.....

In this thread i am only referring to the WiFi/Bluetooth clash that seems to affect some of us but not all of us.
ie; The problem appears to be with the WiFi, WiFi fails to disconnect when leaving the ssid area. Wont reconnect when returning to the area, the WiFi connection just cycles, hunting and hunting, never connecting..... until i turn the Bluetooth off, then it connects within seconds. Switching off the Bluetooth appears to eliminate a 2.4ghz clash between the wifi and Bluetooth, allowing the WiFi to operate freely.
Other phone manufacturers have had to deal with this, its not uncommon.
I've been evolved in a bit of discussion about wifi this week, And i have found I have the WiFi/Bluetooth clash on my twin-core. but not the quad-core.
so i thought we should distribute the version numbers that are trouble free, that seems to me to be a better place to start than with just random testing like i have had to do to get my result... .. so a bunch of test roms later, here are the rom versions i use, and have turned out to be trouble free.
Twincore - Now runs "CleanROM 3", based on build version 1.88.707.2, now runs problem free. I had previously tryed Asian roms 1.77.708.3 & 1.77.708.2, the Modaco IR1(1.29.401.11), all had the W/BT problem.... there were some others that didnt work either but i lost track.
I also tried the wifi fix provided by JSLenterprises but got no relief from that, not on any of the versions i tested.
(To be fair to JSLenterprises, i dont even know if his fix was for this issue, i just tryed it because i was testing anything WiFi for my solution!)
Quadcore - Still running factory 1.29.728.12, always ran problem free!
Anyone else got some build numbers that you know are trouble free? we might be able to narrow down weeks of research for others trying to resolve this bluetooth/wifi clash.... or else wait for the proposed offical update of course.
And anyone having familiar problems might want to flash these versions i suggest, just to make sure i didnt just get lucky.
lets solve this sh..!
You had bluetooth issues, and flashing cleanrom 3.0 fixed them?
what issued did you have? my bluetooth is terrible.
Was person calling me hearing their echo when im on bluetooth one of these problems?? Just bought bloototh for car and receiver hears their own voice, big echo they say
I had no issue with the bluetooth itself...
explanation in opening post........

[Q] Bluetooth issue with VRBLK1

I installed this latest jellybean leak for my Verizon GS3.
Pairing is not a problem nor is auto connect. My problem is the audio is completely garbled and inaudible during voice phone calls from my car.
I have an Infinity G37.
I did not have any problems before I flashed this leak Prior to this, I had flashed CyanogenMod 10 unofficial nightly builds with no problems. Prior to this, I had also used the latest verizon release for ICS with no problems.
The phone (as currently flashed to the jellybean leak VRBLK1) pairs and works perfectly with my wife's BMW Z4.
I have reset, unpaired, cleared the cache, etc and I just cant get this to work. I have tried different radios with no luck. I have downloaded and tried different bluetooth fixes from the marketplace with no luck.
My only option is either flashing back to ICS, or CyanogenMod 10 unofficial, but I prefer not to do that because other than this problem, everything else is perfect.
I have searched the forums and am unable to get an older version of Bluetooth Share (Would like to replace 4.1.1 with 4.0.4) which i suspect may fix this problem.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. I do a lot of calls in my vehicle and we have a hands free ordinance in our city.
Nothing?
Anyone? Anyone? Anyone?
You've got it: 4.1.1 issue. No idea on a fix, I'm back to ICS as a result. Isn't a modem issue it seems (unless interaction between JB builds and particular modems), seems to be a JB issue (reported across phones with lots of different vehicles).

Wifi gets disconnected/stops working

Hello all,
I have faced issues with the Wifi on my OPO since the day I got it. I researched a lot about it and found out that it's a problem faced my a lot of OPO users. Just to summarize the problem: The Wifi connects but after a few minutes (in sleep and sometimes even when the phone is in use) the data transmission stops. The Wifi icon shows that it is connected but you can't access the internet.
I had this problem on the 11s and when I read 12s had solved the problem I moved to 12s. But the problem still persists. Here are the things I have already done:
Wifi in sleep - Always
Restored factory settings
Installed app WifiKeepAlive
Installed 12s (15th Aug build)
I have seen a lot of posts but haven't seen a resolution in them. Appreciate if someone could help out.
I used to have a similair problem on my old One until it broke due to water damage. My new one doesn't have this however.
Perhaps a kernel issue? Try flashing a different one and see if the problems persist.

[POLL] TGP ROM freezes / Phone app crashing

Since I'm seeing lots of reports of The Galaxy Project having these two issues, I thought I'd create a poll to see where we're at.
i've only experienced some freeze and reboots in previous version of the rom (which i flashed dirty), the new one seems to be better, maybe also because i did a format of everything except memory card before installing the newest version.
I have to mention it happened mostly when i was playing a game that asks a lot of power from my phone so i figured it might have been caused by the game, still i voted that i had the freeze and restarts (easely more then 10 times in previous rom which was on my phone for some months) as it did not only happened while playing that game.
If it happens more on this new version of the rom i will update,
for the phone app crashing, someone mentioned using default theme to be a solution
I'm running a pretty vanilla ROM, no kernel tweaks, no themes. I have flashed clean several times to try and resolve the issues. No dice.
Although it's hardly representative, I think the poll responses show that more people are experiencing this then not experiencing this.
The only people answering the poll are experiencing crashes for any number of reasons. But that said it's almost definitely an introduced issue with the kernel/ROM - there was a clear point at which it started occurring as of an update a few versions back.
I'm running with an alternate kernel and haven't had an issue thus far (but too early to tell). Someone else reported swapping out the kernel fixed their crashes.
You should post the poll on the TGP kernel thread, rather than just the rom thread.
