Rooted, now what? - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I recently rooted my TF for three reasons, Netflix, Hulu Plus and adhoc networks.
But there is probably more that I can do... what do you suggest?

Titanium Backup and freeze the memory/processor sucking extra apps.

I have TB, but what exactly are the memory/processor sucking apps?

You can also install addfree to block adds now

Also MyBackup Pro also has Freeze function, but can someone tell me what it does exactly... Freeze is a rather generic term...

You can ask him.....

If you develop, configure adb over wifi. I use adbWireless.

Anyone know how to take the at&t widgets off the widget list?

Anyone know how to take the at&t widgets off the widget list? Im on a Captivate rooted, (oclf) and have root explorer (if that matters).

You can use root explorer to delete the files associated with them or titanium backup will also remove system apks. Just be sure you know what the names are, some can be quite cryptic.
The files are in system/app directory but some apps also have other files associated with them.
Titanium backup has a feature where you can freeze them which essentially disables them and you can defrost thus reenabling should you find you made an error or change your mind.

I've tried TB, but for some reason, it slowed my phone down. I can try it again. When they are froze, will that eliminate them from the widget list?

Cool thanx man. And does anyone else have an issue freezing apps on captivate and TB keeps saying its freezing the app. I let my phone sit for like 10 mins trying to freeze one app!

No problems with freezing at all. Its a quick process and defrosting is just as quick

So as soon as you hit "freeze" it does its thing, then you can choose the next app? Maybe I should haver restarted my phone or something after untangling TB.

Hey there,
If you happen to be running Launcher Pro, you can hit Menu - Preferences - General Settings - Hidden Apps. Here you can check what you don't want to see in your apps list.
As far as Titanium Backup goes, I've never tried the Freeze option - I've just deleted what I didn't want (as long as I knew what it was!)
Hope this helps!
-Tara
Yeah that helped I been hiding that apps with LP, but I figured everything out using TB. I just went ahead and bought it. Thanx everyone for your input!

You can also get autostarts and disable the widgets from starting.

LogMeIn

Has anyone noticed that the stock G2x comes with some LogMeIn packages(com.logmein.rescue and com.logmein.rescuesecurity) already installed? Anyone know what they are there for? I've yet to see anywhere that I could make use of them, which makes me wonder if they're there for LG or other companies to gain access for whatever reason.

Okay, so T-Mobile is including Logmein Rescue so they can access your machine for support. Personally, I backed it up and deleted it with Titanium Backup. No need for that crap. Everything is working fine.
The two apps are:
com.logmein.rescue 6.3.246
com.logmein.rescuesecurity 6.3.246
Thanks, I just froze them using titanium backup.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA Premium App
I removed them the first day I got the phone. Just use Root Explorer to delete them. I didn't like the sound of it either.
There is a thread about which apps you can delete, like the Tmobile crap, EA Store, games, etc. I posted what the app name was compared to the store and what I deleted without any recourse.
I removed a dozen probably.

[Q] Backup/Restore Silent Install

Anyone know of a good backup program that restores applications SILENTLY?
I just tried Titanium and restoring 44 apps is a pain. Maybe I'm missing the option? Also a little disappointed some apps couldn't be restored.
I think I heard App Monster is good. Suggestions?
Thanks

Then you did it wrong.
He didn't do anything wrong, he is just using the free version. OP, the free version requires that you manually restore each app. The paid version does it all automatically. Totally worth the couple bucks.

Thank you, I did not know that. I guess I'll dish out the money for the paid version.
Silent installation (i.e. not requiring confirmation for each app) - requires to root your device.

CIQ is running on the atrix 2

you have a right to know
CIQ
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/the-storm-is-not-over-yet-lets-talk-about-ciq/
you have an service on your atrix 2 called device health, which in the manifest clearly states <receiver android:label="IQ Agent Autostarter" android:name="com.carrieriq.iqagent.service.receivers.BootCompletedReceiver" android:enabled="true" android:exported="true" androidrocess="android.iqd">
just an FYI on the irresponsibility of CIQ, motorola and AT&T and the fact that every tap you make is recorded and sent... as PLAIN TEXT
huge violation of my company's policies since i am connected to an exchange server

it's called device health application
Okay, I found it, I can't force stop and it's not in my App Quarantine list... What do I do?
Thanks guys
you need to be rooted
you then need the purchased version of titanium backup
you can then freeze it with titanium
that would be the easiest way without messing anything else up
or u could use bloat freezer. its free but ti backup pro can do so much more

I use titanium backup to freeze device health app,but it still running sys.device.health and then i use bloat freeze and freeze device health but got sys.device.health force close then i reboot phone and now it's not running anymore.

These buggers make us run through so many hoops to get this crap off the phone. I can't believe there is no class action suit for this already. Having to root your phone to do this is outrageous!

What is Kpi Logger Service?
I wonder if the method in this post on the HTC Vivid forum would work. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1370541
Couldn't hurt I would think but than again I am not willing to try it cause I can't afford a brick for a device nor would I have any idea how to fix the phone if anything went haywire.
I used MyBackup Pro to freeze it
Hey guys just saw this on fox 11 news. Looks like its getting a lot of coverage. Is there a way to maybe uninstall it completely? If not then what exactly must were freeze for this to stop working?
Sent from my MB865 using XDA App
there is now an app on the market that targets those of us looking for a CIQ/app freezer...
search the market for 'app freezer' and Bloat Freezer free should show up. It specifically mentions CIQ.
I was able to freeze the app while running on my phone, though it prompted a perpetual FC error. I had to force a reboot but after that verified that it was indeed frozen.

Backup/restore apps using Titanium

Backup up apps is no problem, but when it's time to restore, is there any way to have it auto-restore everything? The way I did it now was I started the batch restore, but had to press install-done over and over again for each app. Is there any easier way to auto-restore?

Did you purchase program? also if you did you need to download the purchase before running if you wiped data
I'm using the free version from the market. I'm guessing the auto-restore a feature of the paid version?

done. syncing w/ dropbox now
Can also consider app2zip
It creates a flash able zip file of all your apps, no data though
Do you run any risk restoring apps and data or are you better off restoring just the apps? I thought I read somewhere it can get buggy restoring the data

If it's just app data, usually no problem
The problem is restoring system data
I like to be safe so that's why I opt for app2zip
I use Go Backup. In my opinion, it's much more intuitive, cleaner, and better looking than titanium. Plus, it's free

Buying Titanium was one of the best purchases I ever made for my devices. Well worth the price.
I love the "sync to dropbox". Didn't play around with it more to find out what else it does but that syncing makes it well worth the price.
