Any way to associate email attachments with a program - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Due to some security software, I get a lot of pdf and word docs from the office where the file type ends in a ^ (example, file.doc^) My DroidX has no problem simply opening the attachments in quickoffice free but the transformer won't even let me click on them to open because it doesn't recognize the filetype. Is there any way to manually associate doc^ and pfd^ with the Polaris office?

most likely you dont have a pocket powerpoint installed
http://www.oreillynet.com/mac/blog/2003/06/the_missing_pocket_pc_apps_acc.html
you can get 3th party software to view them
http://www.cnetx.com/slideshow/
if you want to search for more options
http://www.google.dk/search?hl=da&h...:en-US:official_s&q=pocket+Powerpoint&spell=1
I do have power point mobile installed..........
I can open power point mobile etc but when transfering presentations onto my phone they wont open with it...
can you open them from inside powerpoint ?
if so then they may just need to be associated with the program
and if you transfer them without using activesync it could be because activesync need to change the formats from desktop office to pda office
Right this is weird... i am transfering them from my laptop via IR. When i try and open the file in "Flie Explorer" i get an error message... when i click on powerpoint and open it through that it works! But the file is still showing as not being a powerpoint file (even though it is).
Hi
If you read the small print of the manual (something i only thought of as a last resort) it explains that the powerpoint viewer - Clearvue PPT - on the XDA is just that - a VIEWER - it will only show presentations saved as powerpoint slide shows.
In essense, you can't construct or edit a presentation with Clearvue PPT, only view shows saved in the Slide Show format (which of course you can select when saving from powerpoint, but it's a bit crap as you can't then edit it or see your notes).
Hope that helps

Anyone know how to get your ppc to download pdf file attachments in Outlook Web Acces

My wife uses her MDA to access her work email in OWA but has issues opening PDF docs. A script alert pops up when she tries to open a PDF attachment that says we need to right click to save it to the drive first. Anyone know how to get around that and download the file?

Opening scanned .pdf email attachments in Win mo 6.5

I have HTC Imagio use gmail through MS exchange. I have noticed native created .pdf or .jpg images, do not have any problem opening when received as email attachment. However if the pdf or jpg image is a scanned image saved as .pdf file, I can not open the attachment either with outlook interface or with native gmail on mobile browser. Is there a fix for this. This is very important to me since I also receive fax sent as .pdf image to email. I was able to open the attachments in iPod Touch not on Win mo device. Thanks

Hows to associate alternative to Pocket Word/Excel in e-Mail client?

I have a HTC Touch HD running Windows Mobile 6.1.
Also using Blackberry Connect to provide wireless synchronisation to email, contacts and appointments via my corporate BES.
Have the SoftMaker Office 2008 for Pocket PC to allow me to work on word, Excel and Powerpoint files on my mobile device.
The SoftMaker Office 2008 programs (Testmaker, Planmaker and Presentations) are all associated with the appropriate file file types.
For example if I click an an excel file the file is opened for editing by Planmaker, not pocket excel.
The Problem.
I receive office type documents as attachments in my windows mobile device email. However when I open the attachements from within the eMail the default pocket word/office applications are used to show me the attachment instead of the Softmaker applications.
I work in EH&S and the majority of attachents I receive are Incident Notification Forms consisting of large mutil tabed excel sheet. Because they are large and they take a long time and considerable space to fully download.
I am happy to be able to see the initial part of the attachment (with option to download more) but I would like to see this in Planmaker as pocket excel screws the formating so badly I cannot read the summary information (displayed on the initial tab on the spreadsheet) which I need to read to determine if I should download the entire file to my mobile device for immediate action or wait until I am back in the office.
Is there a way to associate an alternative application (eg Planmaker and Textmaker) other than Pocket Word/Excel to handle attachements in the windows mobile e-Mail Client?
I have asked this of the Softmaker Office Support team but they were unable to provide a solution.
Hope I have explained my issue appropraitly, any help greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Ed
No ideas from anyone?

Need help to change default apps for email attachements

I have a HTC Touch HD running WM 6.1
Have the Softmaker Office suite installed and have used Total Commander to associate excel .xls and word .doc files to open with Softmaker's Planmaker and Textmaker applications.
From within file manager this works perfectly.
Problem: Unfortunately any excel or word files received as email attacments are opened using the default pocket excel and word applications which screws up the formatting.
Can anyone help me to change the default applications for opening these attachements from within email?
Thanks
Ed
