===============================
"CWM Installation Instructions:
1) You must be rooted.
2) If you have a /Voodoo folder on your internal SD card, delete it and reboot.
3) If you're already running a custom ROM with Voodoo lagfix FULLY enabled, you can skip to step 7.
4) Download CWM-community-kernel-v8.zip if you're on Froyo or CWM-infused-v2.0.1-kernel.zip if you're on Gingerbread and place it on your internal SD card.
5) Install SGS Kernel Flasher from the Market.
6) Open SGS Kernel Flasher, select choose kernel, select the file you downloaded, and select flash kernel. Your phone will reboot and begin to enable Voodoo lagfix. Let it do that and boot all the way up. It will take a while (5-10 minutes) because it's converting all partitions to ext4.
7) Download update-infused-v2.X.X-full.zip and place it on your internal SD card.
8) Power off your phone.
9) With the phone powered off, hold both volume keys and the power button for about 10 seconds and then release. This should boot you into RED CWM.
10) Select "install zip from sdcard" and select update-infused-v2.X.X-full.zip.
11) Once that finishes, select "wipe data/factory reset".
12) Select "reboot system now".
13) Do NOT restore system data with Titanium Backup. Do NOT restore ALL apps with data. If you absolutely must restore something with Titanium Backup, only restore MISSING apps with data."
=================================================
Is this what you mean?
Thanks again (and sorry)

Yes exactly
That's a rap!

"That's a rap!" is apparently his signature.
Most people put a ---------- or something at the top of their sig to avoid it being confused with the message body.
Also, unless it's intentional, isn't it "That's a wrap!"?

Ok, so back to the question...
I see that what you are telling me is that I need to first download the ROM (step 7).
Thanks for that.
Now, am I suppose to download the "update-infused-v2.0.4-test-full-wipe.zip" or the "update-infused-v2.0.1-full.zip"?

you did it wrong. you DO NOT choose apply update from sd card. If you are doing a kernel, or mod "theme" you are to choose install zip from sd card, then browse to the directory where the file resides.

ok did what you said but it did the same thing some white text scrolls real fast and thats it does that mean the kernal was flashed successfully? Also this site says that both "apply from update from sd card" and "install zip from sd card" are both used for flashing kernels and etc.., heres the link.

You did install it right. If you got the orange recovery then yes you got it working. That's all you needed to do. You don't need to do anything further. Just don't delete the update.zip from your sdcard. You can download Kernels or Theme's or Roms now using "install zip from sdcard".
You don't need to do "install zip from sdcard" with update.zip. That zip is already accessed when you hit reinstall packages when your in normal recovery.

+ 1 but to answer your question, when flashing something, below is a log of what CWM is doing. When it finishes, it will say installation successful.
I see what you were referencing, but I only follow the directions in the OP for the things that i am trying to do. I know its talking about CWM but what i read in our SGS4G forums is 100% accurate and proven to work. stick to the directions in here and you'll be fine. venture off and you might have some issues.

Ok now i get it,thanks man im a total noob, lol.
This is good news for us SGS4G owners. This phone has so much potential. Finally we've been shown some love. 1 Trillion Bajillion thanks to Krylon360 & DrHonk. I do have one question which may be noobish.
So I installed CWM, and my phone is back up and running. If I press the power button, am I supposed to see the longer list off options this time, such as Reboot, Recovery, Download, etc? Or am I supposed to use the Volume + Power button method?

use the 3 button method. the boot options in the list is a mod which is not included. someone has to port them over to KD1 rom.

[ROM][UXKG3] Stock rooted packages (fixed versions up now)

About:
These are both stock Rogers UXKG3 Gingerbread packages. The Odin package is odexed and the only thing added to it is root. The CWM package has root as well and is also de-odexed.
WARNING:
Neither of these packages includes Gingerbread bootloaders so the rainbow bug will be present on these ROMs unless you own a Rogers Infuse.
Odin Instructions:
1) Make sure the drivers for the Infuse 4G are installed. (Installing Kies is the easiest way to accomplish this.)
2) Download and unzip Odin_UXKG3_rooted_no_bootloaders.zip.
3) Run Odin v1.81 as administrator.
4) Place your phone into download mode. (Pull battery, replace battery, and press and hold both volume buttons while plugging in the USB cable.)
5) Make sure your phone shows up in Odin as COM##.
6) Click the PDA button and choose PDA_UXKG3_rooted_no_bootloaders.tar.md5.
7) Click the PHONE button and choose PHONE_UXKG3.tar.md5.
8) Press Start.
9) If the phone doesn't automatically reboot after it completes the flash, just pull the battery and then replace it and turn on the phone.
10) You should perform a factory reset after it boots. Go to Settings > Privacy and select factory reset. Warning: This will clear everything on your internal SD card, so move everything you want to keep to the external SD card first.
CWM Instructions:
1) You must be rooted and have CWM recovery set up.
2) If you have Voodoo lagfix enabled, disable it. Instructions can be found below.
3) Download CWM-UXKG3-rooted-de-odexed-update.zip and place it on your internal SD card.
4) Power off your phone.
5) With the phone powered off, hold both volume keys and the power button for about 10 seconds and then release. If blue 3e recovery comes up, you need to select reinstall packages. This should boot you into CWM.
6) Select "install zip from sdcard" and select CWM-UXKG3-rooted-de-odexed-update.zip.
7) Once that finishes, select "wipe data/factory reset".
8) Select "reboot system now".
9) If it doesn't boot, it probably means CWM couldn't mount the partitions for a proper install for whatever reason. Apparently this is happening to some after disabling voodoo. You'll need to flash to stock and start from there, but it should work then.
How to Disable Voodoo Lagfix (2 Methods):
-Method 1: Create a file or folder named "disable-lagfix" in the Voodoo folder on your internal SD card and reboot.
-Method 2: Boot into CWM recovery and select "voodoo lagfix" > "disable lagfix" > "reboot system now".

Odin_UXKG3_rooted_no_bootloaders_v2.zip (177MB)
CWM-UXKG3-rooted-de-odexed-update-v2.zip (173MB)

Very nice!

The first dump we had was clean, but it was a test build so it had a bunch of extra development stuff. All of the extra stuff was removed from my ROM however and the apps and framework in my ROM are based off of this non-test release build. So my ROM is essentially this package plus all of the goodies I added and changes I made.

[Solution Thread]Step by Step on how to flash any Gingerbread ROM. (Links Included)

Problems flashing gingerbread? Too lazy to find the links to flash everything? Well here’s a break down with step by step instructions with links.
This guide is non-version specific. This will get you off FROYO onto GBread or just to upgrade your Gbread ROM. I am also assuming that you are actually trying to flash that you have already rooted your phone previously, if not please PM me and I will take your step by step on a more personal voyage. Also, I am not responsible for anything happening to your phone that causes it to not work properly. All the mods posted on this forum are not allowed by the manufacturer and therefore are not covered by the warranty.
IF YOU HAVE PREVIOUSLY FLASHED ANY ROM YOU WILL NEED TO GO INTO CWM AND DISABLE VOODOO BEFORE ANY OF THE BELOW STEPS!
Step 1: Download ODIN 1.7
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=557757&d=1301649433
Step 2: Download and install Samsung drivers
http://firon.net/xda/Samsung_Mobile_Driver_V1.3.800_For_SPH-d700_Epic_4G.zip (32-bit)
http://firon.net/xda/usb_drivers_GalaxyS_x64.zip (64-bit)
Step 3: Download either the KG4 LEAK or the KH1 LEAK (I prefer the KG4 because I know it works)
KG4 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1183413
KH1- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1211613
Step 4: Turn the phone off.
Step 5: Run the ODIN program.
Step 6: Hold down the Volume Up and the Volume Down key on the phone simultaneously and plug in the USB cable that is attached to your computer. You will see a screen on your phone that will indicate that you are now in download mode.
At this point you should see that your computer is recognizing the phone and after it is finished recognizing it, you will see a bar in ODIN light up. This means ODIN recognizes the phone.
Step 7: Click the button in ODIN that says PDA and choose the md5 or the tar file that you downloaded from step 3.
Step 8: Hit start and let ODIN do its work.
Step 9: After ODIN completes, your phone should reboot. Go all the way into the OS and shut your phone down again and repeat step 6.
Step 10: Download drhonks KG4 kernal.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1194032
Step 11: You will again place this tar in the PDA field in ODIN and hit start and let it do its magic to give you root access as well as CWM recovery.
Step 12: Download your choice GBread ROM’s zip file from its creator and place it on the root of your SD card.
Step 13: Turn your phone off and when it is all the way off, hold down the Volume up and down buttons as well as the power button until you see the Galaxy S 4G splash screen.
At this point you will now be in CWM if you have done all the above steps properly.
Step 14: At this point I will recommend you to go to the Backup and Restore option and make a backup just in case. Choose the backup option and let it do its thing.
Step 15: Use your volume up and down keys to select mounts and storage selection and press the power button to select it. Make sure that the first 4 mounts are as follows: Unmount, Mount, Mount, Unmount. Go to the bottom of the list and confirm your selection which will return you to the main screen.
Step 16: Go to install zip from sdcard> choose zip from sdcard> ((this is the point where you select the zip to your choice Gbread ROM))> Choose Yes and let CWM install your ROM.
Step 17: Choose Go Back and then go to advanced and Reboot Recovery. Your phone will turn off and reboot into recovery.
Step 18: Upon entering into CWM, choose Voodoo and then select disable lagfix. Go Back and Reboot system now.
Step 19: Once you get done doing the initial set up on your system you will need to go to the market and download the following apps:
https://market.android.com/details?id=org.projectvoodoo.controlapp&feature=search_result
https://market.android.com/details?id=stericson.busybox&feature=search_result
Step 20: Open up the Busybox installer and install version 1.17 and put it in the xbin folder.
Step 21: Turn your phone off again and boot into CWM (step 13).
Step 22: Go back to the Voodoo option and enable lagfix. Go back and reboot your system.
At this point you should be stuck on the splash screen and you will hear Linda’s sweet voice speaking to you. If you hear her say that there is not enough room on the sdcard I will have to refer you to my friend Dsexton’s thread regarding the issue located here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1204682
EDIT: If you have flashed ICBINB KH1 and are witnessing the issue where your market does not install the app you just downloaded, please navigate the /system/app with Root Explorer or another app as such and look in the c section for the app that looks like the market and change the name to "vending.apk" and reboot your phone.
This should do the trick for you no matter what you are currently running. If you have any questions feel free to ask them in the thread or PM them to me.
If anyone who knows they are doing feels that I have missed a step, feel free to correct me.
Don’t forget if this post helped you in any way shape or form, please hit the thanks button at the bottom of my post.
A HUGE shout out to my boys in team ACID, Krylon360, drhonk, and anyone who’s thread I linked to in this thread.
Looks great, will be trying this tonight.
Flashing Froyo ROM's is painless, and I knew flashing GB would be a headache, but this thread made it as painless as possible. Thank you for taking the time to post this! I'm still a little too new to this stuff, so I was a little worried going into it.
it worked great except no matter what gb rom i use , market dissappears after reboot. anyone have same issue
sorry factory reset fixed it
So good so far. 3/3

I did as one poster in the ICBINB thread said to do: Navigate to your /system/app and find 'com.android.vending-new.apk' and rename it to vending.apk. Reboot phone and enjoy the market!
Tried this method twice and installed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1201379 this.
I lose the market app after enabling voodoo again and Linda converting.
It just says "Application not installed on your phone"
Any help appreciated; I remember reading about a missing market apk but after searching, I was unable to find that specific post and solution.

This should do the trick for you no matter what you are currently running. If you have any questions feel free to ask them in the thread or PM them to me.
If anyone who knows they are doing feels that I have missed a step, feel free to correct me.
Don’t forget if this post helped you in any way shape or form, please hit the thanks button at the bottom of my post.
A HUGE shout out to my boys in team ACID, Krylon360, drhonk, and anyone who’s thread I linked to in this thread.

after step 22 it starts to boot up and then reboots over and over without hearing linda voice. any help would be appreciated

Here, just go into CWM disable lagfix again. When you get into the OS, go back to the market and make sure that you installed the busybox app from the user stericson. When you have done that open the app, and choose the option for 1.17 and choose the /system/xbin/ and then hit install. once it is done, turn your phone off, boot into CWM, enable voodoo, and reboot your system. This should fix it.
Thank you, I was using the other busybox installer, now it worked great but lost market. Then did a factory reset and all is well. Thanks for your help
Okay this post has really, helped me out, but referring to the market being gone. i followed your steps and when trying to rename it, it is already named vending.apk also noticed when scrolling through the apps it says Market(No install) with vending.apk under it. when I click and hit install it shows a checkmark next to application not installed...what am I doing wrong?
also when attempting a facotry reset my phone reboots fine and goes to the set up google accounts screen and then after that just a black screen. i have been working on this for over 2 days now...what am i doing wrong? i followed all of your steps to a t...

The market issue isn't for the market missing rather than the apps you download not installing. I would personally reflash and make sure the ext4 from voodoo is turned off. After disabling it in cwm reboot the phone and make sure Linda tells you she is converting and everything goes.
i flashed back to the hawk.zip to go back to kc1 and start over, and there is still no market at all.

Make sure you are not ext4 before attempting this again by downloading the voodoo control app and checking.
I can't get the phone to come on, it is just stuck at that galaxy s 4g screen and it randomly vibrates. I also can't into recovery and odin isn't picking it up. is it bricked? i read somewhere that as long as the phone is still coming on it can be fixed. I just don't know what to do, I have uninstalled and reinstalled drivers and used different versions of odin, but it just keeps saying usb not recognized.

this sucks

Can't anyone explain roms and kernels. How do you do it and why can't anybody tell me now? All I want is a new kernal and from there on put dlevrom 5.0 on my infuse! Why is it so impossible? show me how instead of sending me some stupid link
For one...are you rooted? If so..you don't need a kernel to flash dlev rom ...if you don't have recovery just put phone in download mode flash Odin community kernel to get recovery go to recovery and flash dlev rom ...not rocket science if u read...

^THIS.
If you read instead of complaining and giving up, it's simple. Everyone here has been in your shoes at some point, but they searched, read, and figured it out. There's nothing hard to do here. Just read and follow simple instructions.

1) You must be rooted.
2) If you have a /Voodoo folder on your internal SD card, delete it and reboot.
3) If you're already running a custom ROM with Voodoo lagfix FULLY enabled, you can skip to step 7.
4) Download*CWM-community-kernel-v8.zip
*if you're on Froyo and place it on your internal SD card.
7) Download the rom of your choice and place it on your internal SD card.
8) Power off your phone.
9) With the phone powered off, hold both volume keys and the power button for about 10 seconds and then release. This should boot you into*RED*CWM.
10) Select "install zip from sdcard" and select the ROM zip.
11) Once that finishes, select "wipe data/factory reset".
12) Select "reboot system now".
13) Do NOT restore system data with Titanium Backup. Do NOT restore ALL apps with data. If you absolutely must restore something with Titanium Backup, only restore MISSING apps with data.
I don't know if English is your second language but i do not understand why you don't want to read.
You are going to brick your phone if you don't read.
Up above are the directions I followed to get modified recovery. From there you need to go to cwm (red) and you can flash whatever roms you want.
I stole these directions from GTGs infused rom. So thanks gtg.
I'm not a fan of CWM either. Prefer to flash roms with Odin.
Just in case you give up, heres how to get into download mode (being that this is your thread and you don't need a lecture):
1. Power off
2. Pull out battery
3. Plug in USB cable
4. Press and HOLD both volume buttons together and replace battery
5. Keep holding both volume buttons together till yellow download screen appears (newer roms may have an "Are you sure?" screen. Press volume up and you're good to go.
I'm glad y'all explained this...thanks...I can't count how many times I've explained it in the last 3 days..please with all due respect...read...I learned how to port and now building my own rom from READING...ALOT...and studying...and some advice along the way...but they were thru pms ...I did not make a whole thread on it...thanks yall

Step by Step how to install your 1st Rom

Is there a Step by Step, From A-Z guide for "dummies" on how to install a Rom? Let's assume that the phone is rooted and you have SUPERUSER & CWM installed.
A guide that includes things like; do you download the Rom to your p.c. or can you just download the Rom to your external or internal Sd card, & if so... does it matter which?
Can you use CWM to reboot your phone, or do you HAVE to use the volume/ power?
When you choose a Rom, do you start at the Original Post.. or is there a way to just download the latest version?
I'm pretty sure that there a lots of people with these questions... Some, like me that are really nervous about mucking up their phone, have read lots & lots & lots... but don't know anyone near them that could provide some hands on help... just in case..

1. Download ROM to PC. Copy ROM to phone sdcard.
2. Charge phone to 100%.
3. Reboot into CWM Recovery through:
a. ROM Manager app > Select Reboot into Recovery. Or,
b. Shutdown phone. Press and hold Volume + Power button.
4. Do a Nandroid backup. Using volume, scroll down to back up and restore. Press power to select. Scroll down again and select backup to internal sdcard.
5. Go back to main menu. Select Wipe data/factory reset. Select Yes. Maybe do this at least 3 times.
6. Go to advanced. Select Wipe Dalvic Cache. Select Yes. Also do 3 times.
7. Go back to main menu. Select install zip from sdcard. Select choose zip from internal sdcard. Select the ROM you wish to flash.
8. Reboot.
Some devs have extra steps so be sure to read their install instructions.
Also, read up in the Original post. It should contain the latest version and instructions for the ROM.
I download the ROM to my phone then use root explorer to move/paste it to external sd card.
Here is noob guide that will help you. Just scroll down and read I believe everything is there and after reading it you will be able to start flashing. If you think something needs to add up please post in the thread.

Thanks, that's Excellent!!
A couple of follow up questions...
1) Do you HAVE to download the Rom to your p.c. first?
2)Which SD card do you need to copy or... depending on the answer to #1 download the Rom to?
3) Once you have wiped everything & installed the Rom with CWM, will all your apps & settings be erased?
Do you need to use Titanium to restore the apps & data?
I realize that these questions may seem ridiculous to some people... but I figure it is better to ask How before ...rather than crying for Help after.
I for one REALLY appreciate the guide... I hope that it will help some others too!

1) Do you HAVE to download the Rom to your p.c. first?
No you can dload it to ur phone.
2)Which SD card do you need to copy or... depending on the answer to #1 download the Rom to?
It does not matter where you put your rom. You can either put it in internal or external sd card.
3) Once you have wiped everything & installed the Rom with CWM, will all your apps & settings be erased?
Everything will be erased once you wipe data in cwm.
Do you need to use Titanium to restore the apps & data?
Yes do titanium back up of your system data+ apps before flashing anything so after flashing you can restore that. Plus do nandroid so you can have stock rom saved.
