anyone out there can fix the issue when headset is plugged into 3.5 jack and a call comes in and you can just take the call instead of unplugging the headset?
Thanks,
I guess nobody is bothered by this.... strange

my og droid and droid 2 and incredible did not do this. I was able to take the call with an aux cable plugged in. The mic would work and I was able to use my phone over my car speakers. The thunderbolt disables the mic if the aux cable is not 4 pole, as in has a mic. The only solution I have found is to buy http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...49206&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT#ht_2617wt_1141
I used this in both my cars with the thunderbolt and it works perfectly.
Is this something that can be fixed by the ROM/Kernel developers?
Here's a fix!
Okay guys so here's a work around that I've been using for a while and I don't really remember where I saw it so I'm sorry for not giving proper credit. So you go to Home>Settings>Call>TTY mode> and pick "TTY VCO". The only negative thing is that you're gonna have a few extra icons up there in the notification bar but you get used to them right away.
Does that disable the ability to change in-call volume?
No issue here on Das Bamf Remix 1.7
I've been running Das Bamf Remix and since a few versions ago (1.6 I believe) I have not noticed this issue -- calls work fine with headphones.
I'm pretty damn sure this was fixed, or supposed to be fixed with MR1. Ever since I upgraded to an MR1 based ROM, the issue went away for me. It also fixed video chat. The issue is related to something software based with having 2 noise cancelling mics. Basically, they were cancelling each other out.
Can anyone PM me on how to get needed software to root plz? If asked a few with no responses. Tried one click option but cannot get galaxysense Rom because link 404's

I just tried this on bamf 2.0-5 and I still have the problem. The mic turns off when headphones are plugged in.
This has been addressed, but not thoroughly. It works sometimes, but not all the time and its very irritating when it doesn't work. Maybe when the June 30th update comes in. That's wishful thinking though. My dinc, iphone, droid, all the way back to my touch pro had this functionality.
This has been strange for me to and I posted about it in the bamf kernel thread. Some headphone mics work and some don't. The same mic that doesn't work on my phone works on other non htc phones.

I've run stock, rooted, Das BAMF 1.4 - 2.0.5, and preview4. Every single one cuts off the mic if I have headphones in. Very frustrating. I took to buying headsets with built-in mic. Unfortunately, they all seem to last about 3-4 weeks before going bad and randomly hitting play/next/back on my audio book app. I've gone back to standard headphones and would LOVE to be able to leave them in and use the built-in mic.
I have three days to change my G2x for the Nexus S.
I need to know whether putting ANY custom ROM/root/whatever can fix every single problem with this phone:
Battery life drain
Software bugs
MOST IMPORTANTLY (why doesn't anyone care/notice?!): NOISY HEADPHONE JACK OUTPUT
Is this problem entirely software, or partly hardware? I have such minimal LCD bleed that its not noticeable.
Please chime in and check my thread on noisy output and take my FIVE SECOND test with your modded device to tell all of us whether it is fixed or not.
nevermind.
Using CM7 + Faux's EXT4 undervolt Kernel + GPS fix pretty much makes this phone perfect for me. I have absolutely no issues at all EXCEPT for screen bleed. That cant really be fixed with software though. Battery life is great. Yesterday I didn't use my phone much but I went OVER 24 hours on one charge. Didn't plug it in once. Woke up this morning and it still had about 15%. Of course I turned off data while I slept though so that probably helped a lot.

Can you please elaborate and confirm that you noticed the exact same noise as I described (for a second after any sound stops, or during a completely silent track playing?) And voodoo took care of it? So it is software causing the noise and not hardware?
I'm finally at peace with my G2X and it is solid reliable. ****ty battery life but what can you expect.
In my case my phone did have reboots and freeze while charging. I still don't trust having this phone charging overnight because it might crash.
Also went and deleted both Internal/External SD and properly WIPE like 5 times. Flashed CM7 RC1 + Google apps and fixed permissions. I had issues where email syncs failed after 8+ hours but after doing this full clean flush and Wipe, this piece of **** phone finally is reliable.
Its solid and finally enjoying the phone. Just need CM7 out of RC and I'm golden.
However, every time I went to stock I had issues. If you don't plan on Rooting/Flash don't bother with this phone. Its a piece of crap and LG sucks at making ROMS.
I love my phone but I reccimend you get the nexus S. I'm sorry, its just a better phone.

Software-wise, yes. It's a better phone... Hardware-wise, HELL NO!

I have to agree. The G2x is a million time better then the Nexus S. The Nexus doesn't even do 4G.
The Nexus S is last generation, the only competition for the g2x is the htc sensation and the samsung galaxy s2.

G2x - July baseband/radio, Cm7 Nightlies, Faux OC/uv Kernel, Launcher Pro, Straight Beast Status! No Bugs! Smooth as my ps3 or 360 on gaming... gameloft is making some killer gamez... I love this phone... It's a sense or no sense issue if you ask me... I like both.. My last phone was the htc glacier i gave to my momma, it was a good phone... I wanted a senseless device and im glad i got this one.. not another 6-8 months down the road when the next 1.3+ Ghz batch of phones comes out i might go back to sense, but im completely content where im at right now with the g2x with the games and now netflix... dont get no better.. maybe the sgs2 but that's the most powerful phone in the world as far as buyin out the store... but the sensation.... NO!

So after getting CM7 and Faux's OC/UV/etc/Voodoo kernel I still have noise with the sound. Do I need the Voodoo app to enable a different kind of processing or something? I cleared 3x caches/data, installed .zips: CM7 b89, gapps, and Faux [2.6.32.41] (v0.3.4) before restarting.
This makes the sound even more apparent: Go to a silent place and turn the volume on the phone all the way down to vibrate. Put the speaker at the bottom right into your ear and push volume up once. You'll hear the quiet boop tone and a second of very loud hiss before it cuts out. Wait until the sound disappears after two seconds to notice that it was even there in the first place, before pushing the volume button again. It even turns the amp on when you set it to vibrate and there is no tone played. Two new units fresh out of the box have had this same noise. I can't believe users, especially devs don't notice this or see it as irregular, so I must be doing something wrong with Voodoo, and every unit in Canada is the same hardware-faulty. I've got three hours to swap it for the nexus; a primary use for this phone would be monitoring detailed music, and this is an unacceptable level of noise. Please try this and let me know if it's every unit or just every one in Canada, and if the 3 dollar Voodoo app is necessary to fix it!

I had never noticed the issue before, but when performing your test I hear it. This isn't a precisely calibrated, professional audio-phile level piece of equipment. For most people, this would not be an issue. If it is for you, then this is likely not the device for you.
I hate bluetooth with a passion. I am a earbud/headset guy.
I noticed when I first got my Skyrocket that there was always a background hiss, like the sound you get out of speakers when it is not shielded good enough.
Any other owners try this? Use the stock headset or iphone earbuds then simply launch an App enough to get it to play a simple sound... do you here a slight hiss for a few seconds after the sound plays?
Also try calling someone using the headset and listen for background noise. I just got a replacement Skyrocket in and it is making the same noise. If I use the speakerphone or Bluetooth it is fine.
My last phone the I had was an Infuse. It is still in my possession and I retested. The hiss is there but it is so quiet I almost could not hear it.
Please let me know if you notice this, it is driving me crazy!
I posted about this shortly after release. Mine does it VERY noticeably, only in the car, only while charging. All 5 skyrockets have done it.
I have found No fix

I can hear it regardless of what the phone is doing. Charging doesn't seem to make a difference as far as I can tell.
Thanks for the feedback in any case. I really... really like the phone other than that.
Its much worse when charging. Search YouTube for "skyrocket feedback'
Oddly enough I can't get it to do it under other scenarios

If you are within your 30 days buyers remorse or have insurance, get it switched out. I believe its a defective issue. I had that happen on my white SGS2SR and I returned it for a new one in box and it no longer has that issue.

I called ATT up and complained. They sent me another skyrocket that is brand new in the box. It also makes the same noise.
I am more curious to hear if anyone else can hear the noise as I have described it.
Skyrocket Hiss
I'm right there with you. Never noticed it until today because thinking back, I haven't used the headphones yet. I was trying to listen to Pandora and noticed a hiss and crackle. It's gotta be interference because i notice it picks up a little when the screen is on. But It happens whenever there's sound that has or is playing. I notice it during quiet parts of videos or songs and when you unlock the phone it hisses for a second (with the unlock sound) and then shuts down until you go to play anything with audio. I can't handle it. Is this on all skyrockets for certain? Software fix? I'm not paying as much as I did for this to be a problem. I know it sounds picky but it really does bother me during use.
I am not sure myself. I can tell you that I had 3 brand new skyrockets lined up and they all made the exact same noises. I ended up selling the one I did not returnes and got a open box Galaxy Nexus from Expansys. I has it's own issues (like the screen) but the audio jack has no problems.
if you have root try installing voodoo control it helps with audio playback

Man that's a bummer. I'm not sure I can give up LTE now that I've had a taste. I'm going in this weekend to the store and will test every phone they have to see if it's maybe a specific batch problem. I have a couple more weeks of my 30 day comfort zone. This phone is just perfect for me apart from that one flaw. Unfortunately I do try to use it for music so I'm having trouble getting over the fact. How do you like the nexus? I was holding out for that when my captivate fell apart.
The noise while charging is normally not a phone issue and will likely happen with a lot of devices. It's the grounding issue with the CAR chargers and the Headphone Aux in.
I been in Car audio for many many years and have competed in IASCA SQ comps. One of the biggest offenses is 'alternator whine'. Isolating any alternator whine from the sound system was always the factor of proper grounding and wiring. If you run your amp power cable, RCA signal cables and speaker cables to where they crossed the powers cable, you're bound to get the noise.
It all depends on the car, the wiring, the grounding etc etc.
My Galaxy s I has an EXCELLENT audio codec/dac and on it's own is a great player. But in my car as soon as I plug in power and use aux, it's unbearable.
Even though the Skyrocket suffers from poor audio on it's own, the whine while plugged into a car's 12v socket is not Skyrockets fault.
Pull your car into your drive way and use a 120v regular charger and then plug the aux into the car, turn on the car.... you won't hear the whine/noise.
All very good info....but out of our 6 android devices and two iPhones....the skyrockets are the only two that do it.

I realllly like the Nexus. ICS is great for the most part and it is nice to be able to flash roms that are straight from google.
Also the phone feels a bit more solid and a little heavier (GSM version) than the Skyrocket in a good way. I do have the grey screen issues at low light levels that other people complain about but at >40% brightness it is pretty much a non issue.
Mine does it too, but it doesn't particularly bother me. I think it might even be a software issue, as the hiss cuts out a few seconds after a sound plays.

Isn't that the strangest part!? I think I could get over the fuzz when music is playing, just gotta turn the volume up a bit. But the killer for me was when I tried using the headset during a phone call and it was a lot more noticeable then I dunno I'm just still so in love with everything else about the phone that I've been reluctant to take it back.
I have this hope where maybe we all got the same batch and they're all a bit defective. I'm waiting until as close to my 30 day mark as possible to ask for another one and then we'll see. If it's still a problem then I think I'll just make due and hope it is a software problem.
Okay so new solution! Wait for the Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket HD and see if IT has an audio hiss lol. I mean seriously how many models are they gonna push out before it's over. I'd be so mad if i got the original GSII.
Hello everyone!
I got the S III a few days ago and so far I'm pleased with it. I rooted it yesterday and got rid of the Verizon crapware and it's even better! I do have one issue though. I often listen to music in my car, and for that I usually use my phone. I'm having an issue with it being to quiet though. All of my other phones and tablets have been loud enough, but the S III is just barely audible when I'm on the highway even on full blast. Is there a configuration file or something I can edit? I'm also wondering if it has something to do with the "Loud music may harm your hearing if you listen to it for a long time" prompt.
Thanks for any help!

That prompt appears to be only a benign warning - happens when you have a plug in the headphone jack and then raise the volume beyond a certain point.
This phone's playback volume is good for me using the headphone jack in the car, for what it's worth.

I've been searching to solve this issue as well. Try awesome beats http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1819353 (note: I just made a nandroid backup and flashed the zip and it works) in the awesomebeats app I set bluetooth tab(assuming bluetooth headset) I set beats boost enable and moderate, enable equalizer: preset: vocal boost, loudness compensation: weak or strong. It seems to make an improvement unless I'm just experiencing a placebo effect.
Just search volume+(volume boost), on play store a simple app to boost volume

Ok, so I really thought this would work, but once it hits a little over half way volume level (or the point where it starts saying loud music may harm your hearing), and I try to turn it up, it doesn't get any louder. Seems like it just increased the gain. Thanks though.
I'll try awesome beats next, I just don't need the bass so loud, I already have a subwoofer in my car. ^^
Volume+ is what you need I use this myself and it definately works, make sure to go into each of the settings speaker, headphone, bluetooth and check off audio modifications and use custom eq settings then slide your eq settings up. play around with the settings to get best balance. Bottom slider is volume boost.
I use my GS3 in my car and I don't have a problem. I run it through a horrible fm transmitter and it is still loud enough. When I plug it in at first it cuts my volume in half due to the headphone safety setting which I can't find to turn off. It was an option on my Droid Razr. I'm running the synergy rom on my phone. You can try messing with the equalizer settings depending on what you play your music through that should help. but it sounds like a problem with your radio or your aux cable you are using. Try it in someone else's car or a different cable.

It's my setup. I'm using computer speakers and an inverter with a subwoofer to listen to music. It's all good now though. I found a great solution.
Hi all,
I have successfully rooted and flashed Paranoid Android 2.54 onto my ATT HOX and it is a wonderful ROM for sure. I love the options that it provides and the silky smooth, almost stock interface. The only real issue that I have come across is when I try to use a headset for calls. I am defining a headset as a 3.5mm plug in set of earbuds with mic (Klipsch S4i to be exact). When I listen to music, be it on Pandora, Google Music or Apollo all is well. As soon as I try to use the phone, no sound comes through the earbuds and the mic does not function. In fact you can see a noticable slow down in the dialer app when the headset it even plugged in. If I make a call, then plug in the headset, everything goes silent and the other side can't hear me until I unplug the headset from the phone.
Here is the real kicker though! I have my car stereo modded with an aux 3.5mm plug for listening to music and if I plug the phone into that it works just fine in phone mode! Now, I do realize that the Klipsch is setup as a TRRS and the car aux is just TRS (so when using the car stereo I am effectively bypassing the mic portion of the 3.5mm plug and using the phone's mic), but I cannot for the life of me understand why the headset will not work.
I am hoping that someone can enlighten me or least tell me that they to are experiencing this same issue. I will gladly provide any more info that someone might need to help diagnose the issue, and thanks in advance!
Update so far...
So, up to this point here is what I've found. If I plug in a normal set of earphone (read buds only no mic inline) then I will get sound through them no matter what I am doing (youtube, music or phone). Also, in this configuration anyone I am talking to on the phone can hear me just fine as I am using the phone's mic. However, when I plug in an earbud/mic combo the phone will not function. I get silence and the other side cannot hear me speaking either. It's as if the software has somehow told the headphone jack to act differently than it used to with earbud/mic combos. I am stumped as to why the OS would not allow this type of use when it is so standard. Anyone have any thoughts?
I actually have the same headset and I started having problems with it on the stock rom before I even rooted and flashed a custom one. I honestly just thought it was because they're really made for apple phones. Sometimes I'll just unlplug and plug them back in for them to register. Other than that I haven't seen a fix for them.
P.S. Klipsch control from the play store seemed to make things worse for me

Thanks for the response! Yeah, I think I am going to try another ROM just to see if it will help, but I have the distinct feeling it might be a hardware issue. I just can't understand why this would all the sudden malfunction right after rooting for me. Maybe just a coincidence. I will definitely respond here though if flashing to a new ROM helps...

I've never tried paranoid but King kang(which has paranoid elements) works fine for the most part. nocturnal'd dirty rom, miui, and cm10 have all worked for me tho. I'm currently on the unofficial cm10.1 4.2 and that's working for me as well, except when I have the headset plugged in while booting.
Final Update....And SUCCESS
So, it appears that it was some sort of ROM specific issue. I flashed CleanROM 5.1 to my phone and "wah-lah"! The headset works perfectly in all modes. I am not sure what it was about Paranoid Android 2.54 that would not allow the headset/mic combo to work with the phone, but I am free of it now I guess. I will miss the interface of PA, but boy does CleanROM run FAST!!! I am in awe of the speed and responsivness. I hope the battery life holds up like PA did for me and I also think that the quick settings on CleanROM basically RULE.
