HTC Incredible S OR SE Xperia ARC - General Questions and Answers

HTC Incredible S OR SE Xperia ARC
Which one is better and why ?
Thanks

depends...
Well... it depends on your needs. I would get the HTC Incredible S as it has more RAM and internal storage space. I would also modify or change the OS to CyanogenMod or other aftermarket firmwares. It has faster data speeds and it has a secondary camera.

SE Xperia ARC has 320MB storage. Is it enough to install apps ? I mean like 40~50 apps ?
Thanks

Apps to sd. If you can wait for the sgsII

Anyway to get more ram on sensation? ?

I had nexus s before sensation I know realize that free ram on sensation is about 120~140mb on average which is even lesser than nexus s. So it would be good idea to get more ram from camera or such as what have been done in nexus s kernel. Is this difficult to do so??

Install non-sense rom and you will get 100% more free ram.
Sense is ram killer.
Nexus s is runing pure android, thats the point.
I meant is there a dev working on the kernel to get extra ram from camera or such just like wat devs have done in nexus s lol since the sensation can only use 581mb and I didn't buy a sensation to use sense less rom

There won't be a kernel that "gets extra ram from camera". It's not needed. Also, free ram is wasted ram, plus when you open an app that needs more than 140mB, the os will close some apps until it has enough space.

Not sure why people think that more ram mean faster boot if there is ram it boot if not it has to close it clear ram then open it so more ram faster just like a pc

So wrong. So, horribly, wrong. Android keeps enough ram free to launch an application or two (a massive application or two) without having to close anything. You have 120MB free on average? That's plenty to launch the browser, music app, gallery, and about 4 other things before Android has to close anything at all. Free ram is wasted ram.
That "like a PC" part is also wrong. You should always have enough ram to run whatever it is you're running. If you don't have enough, you simply add more to accommodate. The only way you're really going to become faster with ram is to install faster ram (you also have to remove the slower ram because PCs run on the slowest speed available).
What I'm trying to say is that when I play a game such as drow something I sometimes click home button to go web to find out what it looks like. However, when I go back to the game, it was closed most of times. That's why I asked. Nexus s uses 402~3 ram out of 512(not sure) atm.

Maybe you can try kernel with ZRAM capability, faux123 has a good explanation on ZRAM in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1216197:
ZRAM allows real-time compression of memory objects in RAM thus reducing memory pressure for the Linux kernel and can keep more apps in memory longer (more apps in RAM == better performance, less fetching from slower MMC or SDCard). Compression, however, is not Free. Some CPU cycles are required to do the compress/decompression, so there's a slight penalty for it. The original CompCache / RAMZSwap required a user space binary to control its behavior which adds additional penalty to performance, but the new version ZRAM eliminated the need for a separate dedicated daemon, thus reducing the overhead and increased performance from the old CompCache by 20%. Therefore, with the newer implementation of ZRAM interface, the performance penalty is almost negligible.
faux kernel and Bricked kernel support ZRAM capability.
Hope it helps.

Maybe try removing some of the sense bloat items you don't need/use?

Agreed. I can trim about 200MBs off Sense using Titanium Backup. Roughly 70 to 80 applications can be removed without issue. Things like HTC's GPS application (there's like 4 components), Friendstream, pre-installed Facebook garbage, Low Storage Wizard, both Sense and AOSP Setup Wizards, half of the Sense widgets, HTC Watch + widget, HTC Hub, HTC Likes, etc etc.

[Q] Why HTC Sensation XE so smooth?

I'm using Sony Xperia S LT26i n my fd is using HTC Sensation XE.
My phone equipped more RAM than his phone n his phone has much more apps n widgets than me.
But the problems are, his XE has less free RAM n free storage than my S, but mine runs much much slower n laggy than his...
I really don't quite understand, r HTC sense really that smooth?
Almost every tech specs(chipset, GPU, CPU) on the HTC Sensation XE r identical to Sony Xperia S, except for RAM, but XE got less...
Strange...
Conditions:
Both running on stock 4.0.4 ICS ROM n stock launcher.
My S has 3 widgets, 380 apps n all 5 homescreens r full.
His XE has 10 widgets, 450 apps n all 7 homescreens r full.
My S used to had 200MB free RAM, 1.8GB free Phone Memory n 2GB free Internal Storage.
His XE used to had 160MB free RAM, 1.5GB free Phone Memory n 1.2GB free SDHC Card Storage.
HTC's aim with Sense was to make it as smooth as possible, so..
Being fair to HTC they did a decent job with Sense on their ICS ROMs
450 apps? Damn

[Q] Xperia P ram

Sometimes my Xperia P is dropping to 200mb ram available with this device and i'm afraid that it will start lagging. Is 200 ram enough or will I have trouble with it in the future? And is it possible to decrease the ram usage?
I am also using task manager apps.
Note that this is my first android device.

XL is very good phone ,i have it around 2 months and i can say it's great for playing games.Asphalt 8 works on high ,but the camera qualitity isn't satisfacting me.Photos woth good light are really nice ,but on low light they isn't that great. Sometimes on my router wi-fi si disconnecting for 3-5 sec and then it connect ,but this does not happen often. I hope sony relase a bugfix update for us ,thats all from me ,hope this can little help. btw the new fifa 14 works too without lags
Well, here it goes: Xperia L is the best mid-range phone available. Despite its annoying issues, such as low sensitivity touch and camera issues, it rocks. It flies with the Snapdragon processor and the Adreno 305 GPU. However, if you're looking for custom ROMs, you better look for another phone, since we haven't got developers attention yet. So, it certainly is a nice phone, but it has it pros and cons. Hope this helps.

imo, i'd say either spend a bit more & go for Xperia SP.
OR
wait for Xperia C.
btw..Xperia L has a serious bug regarding its internal storage ( apparently, it could be solved by rooting, not sure though.. )

Help? Are you new to the age of smartphones or something? Just look the game(s) up on the PlayStore if it ain't supported it'll say your phone doesn't support it. Use your Brain next time please, instead of posting stupid and ridiculous threads.
Friend, do not judge the people ... Did you read the question? "large games" ... the Xperia E3 has only 1,7Gb space and that's what caused the question, and properly responding to it, in Xperia E3 is not possible to place heavy games without having root access, and this is still working .

What exactly is working? And it's common sense that, large games wouldn't work if there ain't enough memory.

root access is still in progress ... of course, and that is exactly what he wants to know, how to make the E3 has space for games, example: to mount the external card in the internal memory and this is only possible with root access ... although it is a good phone, much remains to perfection
Absolutely that's what I wanna know...rooting methods. I've tried all methods and was unsuccessful everytime. So is there anything else from which I can mount my sd card to internal memory

Until somebody makes a custom core with a CWM in it, we're bound to wait or try to do the same. Basically, until somebody does that for M2 Aqua (same CPU) or maybe Z3.
