[Q] Stuck at MOtorola Dual Screen - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hello i followed this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1078019 i got the bootloader unlocked and followed this step by step then in the end when it got rooted it got stuck on motorola dual screen after trying everything i had to relock again then it went back 3.1 version again with no root. So is there any way i can root to motorola xoom wifi 3.1 mz604 - Hong kong Version(pls check the attachment) or any way pls reply

why not just upgrade all the way up to a custom rom to which root is already included?

i don't know how to do the custom rom thing. can u give me simple method that i can use to root. as it's asia version not us wifi version so might be something different image file or smth.

If you have an Asia Xoom 3G Head to shell9.wordpress.com
There's a guide there that should help you out.
If your xoom is the wifi version then you can safely follow the US guides. There is no hardware difference on the wifi version. So there is nothing to worry about.

Get back the original software? JB 4.1.2

Hello guys,
I received my razr HD (925) today. It was already updated to 4.1.2.
Coming from my galaxy s2, where obtaining root is pretty easy I followed the first of your guides here - but failed at reading correctly:
I tried the "all in one tool" to get back to ICS to obtain root using the rootkeeper.
Something went wrong, the SW remained 4.1.2, but I had no radio signal any more (only verizon version I read lateron)
Now I managed to flash a france 4.1.1 s/w using RSD 6.1.4 - still having no root but can use it again, at least.
Is there any chance to get my (newer) original version back? At best rooted?

Maybe I should add, that it looks like my main problem is to find the up to date SW that was installed.....
Maybe I should send be back to my provider, get a new one and then do a dump / image and upload that BEFORE I "brick" it again =)
I would try to hard reset it and then try Matt's tool to go to back to 4.0.4 again.

Get the Droid Razr Utility
Then:
1. Use option 1 to go back to ICS
2. Go to settings - about phone and take the 6mb update.
3. Root using the utility
4. Install voodoo ota rootkeeper either from the utility or Google play
5. Open voodoo and protect root
6. Temporarily unroot.
7. Take the JB OTA
8 Open voodoo and restore root.
Use this method for XT925

The extide method is for VERIZON PHONE ONLY XT926
@extide
that was what I was doing - and what was not working.

To the other guys:
THanks, I'm going to unlock the bootloader then. Unfortunately it looks like some things have been changed in the factory delivered 4.1.2 so that not even safestrap is working any more.
With a locked bootloader the revert to ICS is not working.
Why you don t want unlock the bootloader ?

There are two reasons right now:
- I'm from germany and here we have seperate restrictions for warranty and guarantee (one is forced by law, the other is provided by motorola).
Motorola is not doing to repair unlocked Razr HDs
- My phone is new and I'm not sure whether I'm going to keep the Razr HD - unlocked it might be a problem to give it back to my dealer during the "test month" he offered.
(I still have my Galaxy S2 and had LOTZ of fun with new custom roms, trying different combinations, getting all the newest stuff ported right after it has been leaked anywhere for any modell - and on the other hand, there is not even the source to get my retail software back because no one shared it)

[Q] Carrier Lock?

Hi Guys,
i am from india and recently i have bought factory unlocked Motorola Droid Ultra from USA.
before this one, i was using Motorola Defy Plus with CyanogenMod.
so now i want to install CyanogenMod on Droid Ultra as well.
but before i step ahead and mess up with anything,
i just want to keep a backup file with my self to unbrick my droid ultra in case something goes wrong.
but there was a sbf file (firmware file) for Motorola Defy Plus which we can use with RSD Lite and restore our phone easily.
so my main question is-
Motorola Droid Ultra is a Verizon phone and if i flash latest verizon firmware file from here,
will it lock carrier network to Verizon or not?
if it locks, then is there any patch to unlock it?
and one more question,
as our device supports Moto X firmwares and roms,
can i flash the latest firmware file from here (Android 4.4.2, Blur_Version.164.55.2.ghost_verizon.Verizon.en.US) directly on our Droid Ultra?
will it work or brick?
*Sorry for my bad English.

If you have an unlocked bootloader you can flash the moto x firmware, just know that there are certain files that once you flash to 4.4.2, they cannot be downgraded back to 4.4.
As far as flashing the stock Droid Ultra firmware, I do not think that it will relock to the carrier. It is my understanding that the carrier lock is not based on the software but is unlocked on verizon's end.
thanks for your reply... i have downloaded the latest firmware but now can see that Verizon is already rolling out 4.4.4... so i will update it first...

I think your 'factory unlocked' phone is carrier unlocked, but the bootloader is still locked.
In that case, once you upgrade to 4.4.4, you won't be able to root since the vulnerability is patched.
So, you have to root before you upgrade to 4.4.4.
You can use a tool called House of Moto to downgrade to 19.5.3 without losing your data. Then you can root.
The site you are using for downloading FXZ is correct.

WTF! you mean to say that i was able to downgrade from (4.4 KK) 19.6.3 to 19.5.3? and can root it on a locked bootloader?
Sadly, yesterday i have updated it to 4.4.4 using OTA. now is it possible to flash 4.4 16.5.3 using that tool?

Now, it is not possible since the bootloader itself has got updated in 4.4.4. So, you cannot downgrade.
Damn!! When i was on 4.4, everyone told me that 4.4 is not rootable and now after upgrading to 4.4.4, you are telling me that 4.4 was rootable... :'(

Where did you get the phone? Was it factory unlocked? What ROM is currently on the phone?
Ok got it. I purchased from Amazon so its not GPE.
The above mentioned guide is for completely stock? With stock bootloader, recovery, radio and everything? And will allow me to get OTA updates?
Thanks
I don't know about OTA updates since you'll be flashing a non-US ROM onto your US phone.
You should unlock your bootloader before proceeding so you can flash back if there is a problem.
This cross-flashing business can get quite complicated and you need to remember that any flashing of ROMs can result in a bricked phone.

Tmobile pushed a 60mb update to my LG Stylo this morning? What to do?

Hello Folks
This morning I noticed, Tmobile pushed a 60mb update to my phone. I am rooted and unlocked but not on a custom rom.
Please advice what I need to do.
Thanks in advance

Is there any issuse with the update
I have not updated. As I mentioned I am rooted and unlocked. Not sure what to do hence posted my question in the forum.
I do not want to lock the bootloader. Just curious to see what others who might have got this update are doing about it.

1. You don't have to worry about lock bootloader
2. Which Software version are you running? v10e, v10i or v10j?
3. If you update there is a way to downgrade cuz we have previews KDZ's
I am running version 10i,
I am guessing tmobile wants to upgrade me to v10j. Is there a flash able version for 10j that I can use?
Thanks

How to get Rooted, TWRP'd Sprint A9 to Nougat? (Edited)

(From later on in this thread)

Hello again, sorry to bother you guys but I'm seeing a surprising amount of conflicting information about this...
So I'm trying to upgrade to Nougat, but I'm having some troubles figuring out what I need to do for that.
I know I need to get my phone back to stock so I can accept the OTA update, but I'm not sure how to go about that.
My phone currently:
- Phone Model: HTC One A9 (Sprint - 2PQ93)
- Android Version: 6.0.1
- Software Version: 1.60.651.4
- Root: Yes
- Recovery: TWRP v2.8.8.2_CPTB-TEST2
- S: ON
- Bootloader: Unlocked
- Software Status: Modified
So as far as I'm aware, I need to restore the Stock recovery (how?), re-flash the RUU for my current software version, and then... relock the bootloader? Maybe?
So my questions are...
- How do I actually restore the stock recovery?
- Are there any steps I'm missing?
- Do I need to re-lock the bootloader, or does that not matter?

=============== ORIGINAL POST ===============
Hello,
I'm basically at my wit's end and I'd just like to see if anyone knows whether it's actually possible to get Android 7.0 Nougat on my phone?
I currently have a rooted, RUU-updated 6.0.1 build of Android (Version Number: 1.60.651.4) running on a Sprint (so CDMA) HTC One A9 (Model Number: 2PQ9300). My phone is still S-On (I'm willing to pay for Sunshine if it'll actually work for me, but I'd like to confirm that first), and due to the updating process I do not currently have TWRP - that's easily fixed, however.
Mostly, I'd just like to know if there's a way to get Android 7.0 on my phone, as it is not the International version, while also retaining things like mobile data and calling.
So far, I've looked into simply flashing the RUU (seems to be both not compatible with my phone version, and also has the signing issue mentioned Here), however with the signing issue I'd have to OTA update first so that's not relevant.
I've looked into Sunshine for S-OFF as well as This thread to convert to the "Unlocked" version that has the update, however I'm seeing comments about it not being compatible with the Sprint edition.
I've most recently tried to follow This guide, however I've had no luck and I'm still seeing talk of random reboots, dropped calls, and the like.
Basically, if there's any way I can get Android 7.0 Nougat on my phone, I would love to know how - if I can't (reasonably), then I'd also like to know that so I can stop beating my head into the wall, so to speak
Thanks!

So far, the CDMA versions of the A9 can't run Nougat. As you know, HTC hasn't updated it for Nougat, and our phones run different enough firmware from the GSM-Locked and Dev versions that we can't use theirs. And so far, HTC's Dev Nougat requires Nougat firmware. So... we're boned.
Hopefully this won't be forever; HTC should eventually update American phones, so we'll just have to factory reset from system image (and maybe RUU) and OTA. For now, we can only hope guys like Captain_Throwback figure out how to backport Nougat to the 1.60.651.4 firmware.

I saw, but I'm not sure what's going on in the thread right now. It seems it sometimes bootloops? I'm hesitant to upgrade until there's either an RUU for 2.whatever out or I'm sure TWRP is reliable. I'm resigning myself to living without Xposed, but I at least need root and Magisk.

Whelp.
I'm upset, lol.
Time to re-reset my phone (finally got it set back up the way I wanted it yesterday on 6.0.1)
Oh well, thanks for the heads up!
I have the Sprint a9. I flashed the ruu and flashed TWRP 3.0.3-1 I believe, with no issues
Okay, so before I go re-wipe my phone and upgrade, I have a few quick questions...
1) Can this update be flashed with S-ON? (I'm assuming so, but always good to check) and
2) Can the Sprint A9 be rooted on Nougat yet?
Thanks!
I used TWRP 3.0.3.-4 and root with Magisk. Still miss Xposed, but the N features are pretty nice too. All seems to be working well.

If you don't have an unmodified system image from before you mounted the system partition then yes, you do have to use an RUU, which will also give you stock recovery. No, you don't need to do anything with the bootloader.
Flash the RUU for the version you're on now, start up normally and take the OTA. No, I didn't have to do anything special besides making double checking /system is mounted read-only in TWRP. Personally I like using Magisk for root, etc, but I've heard SuperSU works fine. too. I'm S-on as well and it was all very easy.

You can't flash a nougat ruu (2.xx.xxx.x) on a phone running the marshmallow firmware (1.xx.xxx.x). You need to manually update your firmware to 2.xx.651.x before being able to flash the 2.18.651.2 RUU. This is because the new signature key implemented in all 2.xx.xxx.x ruu, explained here at faq #4
Or you can flash the older 1.60.651.4 ruu and after, update your phone using OTA updates. Probably the easiest way for you :good:
http://dl3.htc.com/application/RUU_HIA_AERO_WHL_M60_SENSE7GP_SPCS_MR_Sprint_WWE_1.60.651.4.exe
This seems to be of great help to me, but am afraid i can't install the OTA in my device, b'se I received it and i did downloaded it but when i click to install it finish unzipping file and then fail and the phone boots in TWRP recovery so i thought i can update it by running a RUU side load
