As I posted a week ago about the end of an era with HTC starting to lock down their phones. Well check the link.
Thoughts?

Mod request

Hey my friend pointed out that they split the themes and apps section into two separate ones on the epic forums. I think that would be appreciated here also
Here's a link to that thread

Yes, this was done in the epic 4g forums. IMO its much cleaner, I know, atleast with the epic, there is about just as many apps as there is themes so it gets awfully cluttered and gets difficult to find thing.

Bump? Seriously 120 views and only 2 people who agree, are we the only ones who wonder why it's one category to begin with?

They are trying something similar with sgs2 development forums. I definitely think it would help clean things up and hopefully stop a few needless questions

To be honest I am nit sure why there is an apps section for every device anyway. We have an android app section that I beleice should hold all the android apps. Mostly due to them being universal with the exception of a small few. It is being looked into
Great request. And yes, it can get cluttered.

[Q] Carrier Name

Due to the similarity between the motorola triumph and the droid x, I would like to remove the carrier name entirely or make it say Verizon Wireless... Is this possible? even making it saay just "android" would be better ;P thanks...
Ricksta
Why would you want to do that?

Maybe he secretly wants to fool his friends... I have no effing idea, and he never replied to your question.....
He has another thread he wanted to make it his name or what ever he wanted. At least I think it was him. Either or that would be pretty sweet but I think they said its not possible because it updates from the carrier.

We have the solution for this now, right? Either services.jar or framework-res.apk, and somebody very kind pointed me to the latest version of apktool for de-and re-compiling those files.
I've had bad experiences just moving them with a file manager, so a better way of doing it would be to use a combination of adb push to the sdcard, then running a shell, su, and... Crap. Was it a cp or mv commands from there? I forget.

Change it in framework Res/Res/layout/status_bar_latest_event.XML, if I remember correctly. You could always use the uot kitchen to change the carrier text and color.
Edit- just read the guide on how to change it. Disregard my previous statement.
Sent from my Moto Triumph using xda premium
There's a specialized color changer available on sdx if I remember right, in their Motorola Triumph section.
Edit: found it.

Android MOD Market - thousands of ROMS and MODS Listed

A lot has changed since I first posted this thread. The website is in full swing with over 1000 visitors per day. The app is on a lower demand but fully functional after a long time of trial and error.
Features of the app include:
-Setting shortcuts or presets to listings for your device
-Selecting unlimited presets for MODs, ROMs or Apps that will be checked for updates each time it is opened.
-Listings constantly being updated.
-Over 200 devices listed
-Over 8000 listings posted
-App is not limited to viewing listings for only your device
-Descriptions for each listing as provided by Listing Poster
-Direct links to original posting
Website freely available to anyone all listings are the same as on the app. The app provides an easy way to check multiple ROM's MOD's or APP's for updates. Plus paying the couple bucks for the app helps pay for services needed to maintain the website.
Please visit the google play store for the most up to date information and screen shots.

All the mods are for htc thunderbolt. Thats way too phone specific for the general android section

Need more devs to submit there work... It will grow
Sent from my HTC Mecha using Tapatalk
contact developers and go throught the general apps section as many developers state you can post their apps as long as credit is given. will be great to have an external marketplace like iOS has with Cydia
I can help with the webdesign if wanted to give it a bit more market like look, and what about a app for the market?
What is the advantage of your site versus posting it on XDA?
It would be the advantage that all mods are in one place. Like the play store. Instead of goin thru forum by forum lookns for diff things. But shuld be an app

App on the way actually... Got to get the website done first though before the app can work.
The advantage to a website like this is it categorizes all the posts, puts then in a clean format and eliminates all the gibberish in the forums. Also if links go dead the listings are removed.

Just created a ROM Scraping script that will add hundreds of ROMs and Mods to the Android MOD Market.
tell me what you think now...
That's nice concept
How can I submit my mods/themes/ROMs?

For additional features I developed an app for this as well,
So now it is available from the Web, RSS Readers and the APP

Droid 3 is solona

Thanks, Nexus one was already there but the rest are now listed as well.
Droid RAZR <----> spyder <-- SUPPORTED SINCE --> 4/18/2012 4:47:48 PM
Droid 4 <----> maserati <-- SUPPORTED SINCE --> 4/18/2012 4:47:48 PM
Xoom <----> stingray <-- SUPPORTED SINCE --> 4/18/2012 4:47:48 PM
Droid Bionic <----> targa <-- SUPPORTED SINCE --> 4/18/2012 4:47:48 PM
Wasnt able to differentiate between the XOOM wifi and CDMA models since my listings do not do this when they build the device listings with the same names.
I will incorporate a way to support both though soon enough.
Xoom <----> wingray <-- SUPPORTED SINCE --> 4/18/2012 5:31:04 PM
Had to modify the Device updating script module to get it to recognize devices with the same model name but different device names. Seems stupid since these devices seem to work with the same firmware installed. The xoom doesnt seem to have different ROM's for each model. Weird..
Oh well, updated....

That's all I need to get your device supported.

Moto Atrix HD Widgets

Has anyone got the Moto Atrix HD Widgets to work on Team EOS using ADW Launch?
Story is located here: AtrixHD Widgets
File here: Dropbox
Man, Moto got seriously pissed about these getting released and they had every single one of these deleted from everyone's dropbox accounts. Sleeze if you ask me
Anyone have any mirrors?

I have the APKs saved along with some other ones. I'll post if I can get them to work.

I'd appreciate it if you could post them whether you get them to work or not. They work on the Razr, which is what I have, and I'm sure all the other Razr owners would appreciate it too.
