Problems loading ADW template in to Eclipse

I really need some help. I'm reading how to create one of these themes and I'm hitting a wall. The directions I have say to open Eclipse and click new android project. Well, it's not there. So I went to file, then new, and I find Android. So I click that. The next step I have says to load the template in to Eclipse I'm supposed to select "Project from existing source" and select the theme template dir. I do that and then it says click finish. Well the finish button is greyed out. I can't push it. What am I doing wrong?

I haven't seen the existing code for this adw theme, but do you have the android eclipse plugin installed? It seems that if you don't have the android project option you don't have the android development plugin.

If I click file new and then click other I get this...
Now I'm assuming I'm on the right track right?

Well then I go to open the theme template and it won't let me open it. The finish button is greyed out and not selectable.
Am I missing something here?? I may have screwed a step up but, for the life of me, I can't figure out where.

Ok so your doing it correctly you just don't have any installed packages to work from. Notice that when you go to make a new android project that you have no available targets in the build target list. You'll need to open the AVD manager in eclipse and then click on the Installed packages and download everything in there, this will give you the android api's in version from 1.6 to 2.2 (its been a while). This will give you target packages to work with for the theme, since its from existing source its should choose 1.6 as the target (that what it did for me).
Heres the screen for where the avd manager is in eclipse. and next is the avd manager packages screen.

Dang it! I was hoping I wouldn't have to install them ALL! D: I only had the 2.2 since I'm using aosp. I guess I'm understanding the numbers wrong. So I need them ALL?? Thanks for the help man

technically you don't but its good practice. If you develop an app you should be concerned with more than just 2.2. To me it looks like you don't have any packages go ahead and install all of them and the optional packages also, they don't take up alot of run and you get more development options.
I love eclipse, amazing what it can do or be leveraged todo. Been using it for almost 7 years.

What was the point in installing the emulator for android? It's cool that I can have a virtual android phone on my pc but is there a point? Do I load the theme in the virtual phone to test functionality before trying it on my phone? Also, how to go about theming the framework? I got the directions for adw but I haven't been able to locate directions for the system.. thanks again bro

Well the emulator can be used to load a program that your developing, and since you can make a bunch you can theoretically make one fore every type of phone out so your app can be tested on different resolutions and across different frameworks.
You can load the framework-res into eclipse but I can tell you its not for a beginner, since you basically have to do it from decompiled source and it's a little tricky. I would suggest just d/l and working from the source (cm6) and compiling that, google doesn't support compile on a windows box but it can be done with some tinkering (cygwin, github). But again that is probably not the easiest way to go about learning android. I would look at the sample apps they have a bunch for each android version (clocks, snake games...) and this will give you a good starting point to then go on to bigger stuff.

Thanks man. I can't tell you how much I appreciate the help. Am I pursuing a good project as a beginner by trying to theme adw? I design video games and I'm just kinda interested in learning android slowly on my own. Looking at the speed that android has grown, I think that in order to stay on top I should learn it soon. I can see within the next 5 years there will be games like cod on an all in one device running an android os of some sort and I'd like to get a jump on that now while there's not a market for it.

No need to apologize! That's exactly what I am. XD the problem with the system at the moment for really intense games like moh or god of war coming to android is the hardware. I think if we can get something like an ipad with a detachable bluetooth headset built in to the phone then people would be more willing to use it. The problem for now is convenience versus functionality. To have a system we can play games on you need a screen the size of an ipad but that's not easy to stick in your pocket or use as a phone. That's why I said 5 years. I hope it's 5 years! I got some serious work to do if it's 2!!

i dont know how far off it is, i mean sony's next PSP is likely android based if that happens the sky is the limit, it will def show that games for phones dont need to be about shooting pigs with birds

its not that i hate on angry birds, rovio just made me angry when they said that its android fragmentation that is causing the problems as to why it doesn't play right on some phones, when even our phone has the specs of an ipod touch from a year or 2 ago that can run it just fine.

Very nice app. I go to a couple of websites to see device specs, separated by a lot of categories. All in one is always better, especially in an app. Something more I would like for this app is the ability to "favorite" devices and have them in a favorites list. Great app, nonetheless

I get the same on mine. SE Xperia X10 on Gingerbread.

I think it's better to remove the SMS/call functionality from your application, because there are a lot of people(including me) not installing the application because of those permissions.
If you use this:

startActivity(new Intent(ACTION_DIAL, Uri.parse("tel:6365551212")));
With this you don't need the permission to make calls, and the dialer will be started with the phone number pre-loaded, so the user only needs to press the Call button.
And for sending SMS messages you can use this guide, which also uses intents.
Then you don't need SMS/call permissions, but the user can still call/text when he needs in your application.

This is simply astonishing. Great work. Although I have an Evo 3D and won't be moving from it at any time soon, I know a few Hero owners who could do with this App to see what they should upgrade to.

the app supports QVGA,WVGA,HVGA,QWVGA,qHD screen resolutions and android 1.6 to 3.2

thx m8 , i'm using Samsung GS2 and also don't need to change it for now .. but i like to check everyday whats new about the devices and soon i will add (News, Devices Comparison, prices in some countries ,favorite list and many more features ) , i mean i wrote this app not only for ppl who wanna change their phones but also to tech. lovers and everyone interested about mobile phones and tablets

Yes, the user will be able to see the advertisers number. But I think your sent SMS is in the SMS-app of the user, so he always will be able to see the advertisers number, although I'm not sure.

Can you post the apk?
It doesn't show up in the Market on my phone. I can click a link that will open it in the Market but it doesn't give me the option to download it. And when I try installing through the Market on a pc it says it's not compatible with my device.

loading up now, glad my 4 day insomnia streak hadnt ended, i woulda missed this
edit : boots up fine, wifi is working for me
edit 2: i know its 1st release so i didnt expect all translations to be done, but it is running on my hero, just very slow at this point, dunno if its just my phone or what, been up and running for about 15 minutes, still going slow. using default kernel. gonna try a clean install of recovery, massive wiping, see if that helps

texting works, im just not too smooth understanding the language, im a stoopid american. got a force close on the phone call test, will wipe all like 5 times each and re-install. i cant sleep anyways, so thanks again for giving me something productive to do. =)
edit : after wiping all 3 times each, phone seems to run a lot faster, this rom loads very quick, even on the 2.6.29 kernel. phone call test works as well, incoming & outgoing tested. no leds, as u stated, ill look around and see what i can do about that
Just make sure to wipe all 3 times before installing the rom.

No problem haha. I may get the help of my Chinese friend for translations if I can figure out how to translate. My call was fine, but I called my voicemail so idk for sure. This is a little slow I noticed, I'll play around with things and see how I can figure stuff out.

i called a home line, then called in from the same home line.
oh yeah, the led works when screen is off, not on
edit 2 : market seems messed up, tried on wifi and 3g, cant find apps, tried to load from android market website, says an app i always use isnt compatible with my phone? idk

mine will only allow me to search for books, anytime i search the market thats the only results i get. when i check top free or top paid apps, it only is showing me 2 of them, and they are actually games? lolidkwtfimdoing

well i am trying to load it all over again, i wiped it raw this time, painful burning wipes now, lol. hopefully this will get it working, my market was all types of f'd up
nope, still aint working 4 me. even after all the wipes and all, the market will only show me book section. the apps and games sections show absolutely nothing now. idk, i think maybe being that i havent slept in like 4 or 5 days im messing up somewhere. ok, now im not on crack or nothing, but i did a battery pull, and pressed the power button, it loaded immediately. i completely pulled the battery, too. now i got a triangle icon next to the battery???

1st time, went into cwm 2.5.0.7 and went into mounts and formatted system, data, cache, boot 3 times each and then went and wiped dalvik 2 times, rebooted recovery, flashed rom. market would show 2 results under apps, both were games
2nd time, used calkulins format all zip 5 times, wiped dalvik 3 times, rebooted recovery, flashed rom. market will only show book results, apps and games is completely blank.
should i flash gapps or no? i didnt think it was necessary since market was already on the phone
also, not using FR or any scripts

Everything works nearly nice on my htc, but got this 2 error. First wheater widget, second cloud+ acc are register.

So after some testing I can say that this is absolutely awesome! Everything works flawlessly on my u8800pro running ShenduOS 4.1.2! Thanks a lot I was looking for this for a long time because everywhere else links were down :good: Sorry for late reply I really didn't have the time.

I got it somewhere on net but "teamandroid" community has problems with download.... Versions of apps are same. I think that huawei didn't release any update for these apps.

Hi, first thank you for your work. Most people don't understand that you guys work for "free", other then donations. Secondly I am asking you directly because in working with this device I have gotten many different responses. Some have stated that roms written for the U8800-Pro will also work on the U8800-51 from Consumer Cellular. I haven't tried that because others have said installing your rom on my 51 would brick it. I have installed and am running Aurora ICS from this guide on XDA

I don't want to do anything stupid so since this is your rom I was hoping you could give me a difinitive answer, can I use your ROM on the U8800-51? If not is there a ICS Rom you could recommend?

Huawei keyboard is one of the best I have ever seen!
It has one minus (when you type a web address, 'space' is replaced by '.com' by default - you need to press alt), but a huge plus (you can slide to obtain secondary characters instead of long-pressing).
File manager is balanced, not better or worse than others. It is very nicely integrated with the cloud.
Backup application is a good replacement for Titanium (backups data and applications)
I prefer the default 4.1.1 camera. Huawei application has some good points, but still I prefer the default from gapps. Also, please note that Hauwei Gallery does not sync with Picasa!
I don't recommend Huawei Weather, as it does not always work. on the screen in get a location not found.

Thanks for your opinion of this thread.
I think that you can try install ROMs for U8800 & U8800pro to your device. But if you like your current ROM so I recommended "don't try it". U8800-51 has different wi-fi and bt drivers so if you'll try install these ROMs your wi-fi and bt won't work. For recommending ROMs you must install all ROMs for your device because all users have diferents requirements.

This sounds interesting. I suppose this works with non-Huawei phones? As for the question about Gingerbread, I'm sure these work with a specific version of Android, or rather Huawei's version of Android, e.g. HTC Sense for HTC phones.
In any case, I am curious about the DLNA receiver (or maybe server?) and the keyboard. Had I found this earlier, I could have tested on a couple builds. Nandroid backup my AOKP ROM, then factory reset it, and flash this, test in a clean 4.1.2 ROM, then flash my CM7 Nandroid, factory reset that, flash this, test in a clean 2.3.7 ROM... Woulda been fun. Subscribed to this topic, I'll definitely do all that in a few days when I get a chance, and I will take screenshots if nobody's done it by then.

Aroma appears to have installed nothing. Wallpaper chooser can be installed as a normal app (AFAIK, all wallpaper choosers can... so collect them from ROMs you test, if you like the wallpapers they offer...), not sure about the others. I checked them all in Aroma and it (TWRP I guess) said the flash was successful. But nothing installed. I can push them manually and set permissions accordingly, though.
Camera can be installed as a normal app as well. It's very nice, but it does not support the ICS/JB swipe to preview/swipe back to take another. Also can't seem to record video. It says my internal memory is full (it's not) and that it will save to SD card (that's fine) but pictures take and videos don't record. The record icon doesn't change.
DLNA *seems* to work, but it times out when trying to connect. So does ES File Explorer. Fault: Most likely mine. I suck at networking. I tell Windows 7 to share my damn files and that should be that. Give "Everyone" read permission and no one "write" permission (because f*** you you can't edit my damn files son, but you can look at them). My brother got DLNA (via MotoBlur) to work with PS3 Media Server running in Windows. We use that to stream from PC to Xbox, guess we need it for Android as well (or we could learn networking and not be such chumps, but PS3MS is easy mode).
Not messing with File Manager or Cloud. I already have the best file manager (ES File Explorer, IMO it's the best) and I have a ton of clouds. It feels disingenuous to use Huawei's without buying a Huawei device. They can see you've never used a Huawei device and they can close your account. Whether they will or not is another matter. Dropbox will give you 2GB, Google Drive will give you 5GB, and so will a bunch of others, like Box, SugarSync, and Ubuntu One (the latter doesn't care if you use Ubuntu or not). Amazon also has a 5GB cloud, but no Android app (this is separate from Amazon MP3, which does have an app).

It is possible that this works only on Huawei phones. What phone do you have, what version, ROM, etc...

Having trouble setting up mms on the DZ09 smartwatch can anyone advise if it has been done.

DZ09 app
Hi,
I bought a DZ09 and received it last week. I am from the Netherlands...
I like the design and the display is also good. Some functions I will probably never use but in general a nice smartwatch.
I got mine for 28 euros and for that it is not bad.
Only problem is the software for the smartphone. The software you can download by scanning the QR code is Chinese.
Can not get that to work.
I have tried several app but I finally ended up with an app called RWATCH.
That one connects to the smartwatch, you can do all things with sms messages.
One thing is the app crashes to often. That is a pitty so I hope they will increase stability.
Secondly the health control in the smartphone RWATCH app does not seem to work.
Maybe I do something wrong or I just have to wait for an update of the app.
If the app runs it is a good tool.
Hopefully I will find some other software which will run smoothly on the smartphone.
Oh and I have a Samsung Note 4 running Lollipop nowadays.

that's the qr code site. download the one labeled "BTNotifications Android". that's the one that works with the dz09.

Thank you thedarkharlequin for posting the proper link for us all above. I have had my DZ09 for just over 1 week. I had many issues with the original download wich is provided to you through the QR code located on the watch. After a day of fighting with it crashing all the time I looked to the app store on my SGH-I337M and saw a lot of promising looking apps that were all claiming to do the job. First I tried the BT Notifications like the watch said. Though it was an upgraded version it worked just as well as the first. I then tried other apps that claimed to work with the watch. Same story. Found an app called SmartWear which did the job for the notifications but left all the other capabilities in the dirt. Once I tried the link above I have had all functions and capabilities working 100%

Me 3, my DZ09 just arrived to Denmark from China after 6½ weeks of waiting, so plenty of time to bookmark your post, just love it, thank you SO much thedarkharlequin! :good:
BTW couldn't even get the darned bar-code to work (several QR-apps), maybe I turned off to much Google spy on my phone? Anyway the parring works like a charm with this app, only my DZ09 doesn't have the cool watch-faces and animations I've seen on videos so next step is another firmware, just hope my watch isn't a fake one..

I'm looking for a software update too due to ten fact that it holds an interface different than te original one which seems to be a Gear S but no success could you notify me as soon as you reach sth?

Year, I thought I had found one just waiting for me (I did, her name is Berit, but that's a whole other story), but that was for MTK6250, ours are MTK6260A as far as I know, so didn't apply at all.. :silly: The tool provided in the download might work for us however, if anyone

For you guys who have had there watches for a while can you answer me a couple of questions.
When the phone and watched are synced I like that you can see who is calling but I want to be able to answer my phone to speak and not talk through the watch! Even when I make a call on the phone while paired to the watch it comes out of thr watch and not the phone.
While using Google music I want to be able to skip songs etc thr only way this can be done is if the music comes out of thr watch but not when it comes out of the phone.

Chip is the same, and I think the specs. are similar enough for the firmware to work on our DZ09s (but what do I know(?)), unfortunately both links are down, but I see the watch here in XDA, possible with firmware, haven't got time for a closer look today (tonight DK time), but will look into that tomorrow!

I checked the site and do what I'd had to do and my watch died so I used my guaranty now they repaired my watch
What I discovered is that we have a clone watch from u10 due to I found two types of firmware of the same watch but different type.
Our model is Zd09 no other so be careful cause you can install firmwares and they run buy your watch may be died or the screen can not work

Hey, I’ve got my hands on a DZ09 with exactly the cool animations, transition modes and watch-faces I believe quite a few of us are were looking for, but only for borrow. Does anybody know how to copy the firmware, so that we can work on getting it into our watches?

It most certainly can receive (via BlueTooth) messages sent to the pocket phone, it also receives emails sent to the pocket, and sometimes even (but not all) Skype messages. And you can browse text messages in your pocket as well as contacts and call records right on your wrist. I don't know about writing text messages and sending them through BT, haven't tried that because the keyboard/handwriting doesn't support Danish letters "æ, ø and å", but I suppose it is possible, only it's a very small screen for the purpose, don't think you would do that much as it is far more comfortable to use your pocket phone for writing.
