Longer battery life would be great! Sadly, I doubt it will happen. lol

Hello all,
I am relatively new to this forum, but have been flashing ROMs on my HTC desire for a few months now.. I think what I most want from Ice cream Sandwich is some sort of backward compatibility (to a small extent) in order to address the problem of fragmentation for developers. I would also like to see it made simpler, for the normal person to use it comfortably (this is one of the edges iOS has over android.
Thanks
Wizzo

I would like better/true multitasking packed with a better app manager to see what apps are running. Also, better dual core management to save battery

Who else is extremely excited for ICS? The UI is beautiful.
What else can we expect from ICS besides the UI?

I'm looking forward to seeing how it runs on the myTouch 4G. (Just got mine back from HTC yesterday after a warranty repair. They replaced my good LCD with the bad one =( ... but all is working as it should again!) You guys think we'd get anything official? If not, CM (among others) will bring it to us, right?I bet it'll be real nice. Did they announce minimum specs to have ICS?
I personally love the looks of the UI. I especially like the widget management and if I remember correctly, I believe I heard there will be a native screen capture function (AT LAST!). Outside of those things and the hardware acceleration mentioned above, I don't know a whole lot about ICS, so I'll be following this thread pretty closely.
I did say the ui guys. I'm pretty sure the os is great. I just don't like how it looks.

I agree. From what I have seen in the videos, I think I like sense 3.0/3.5 UI more than ICS UI. HTC might make sense even better with ICS. I would definitely wait for ICS based sense ui.
Do you think that there will be an update to ICS for the MT4G? It looks pretty cool, but even if there is a custom rom with it, I can't get it because I have a bad EMMC chip.

i doubt it. we didn't get a android 2.3.5 or 2.3.7 update, i'm guessing android 2.3.4 was our last (and only) OTA. tmobile considers the MT4G as an "old phone" now

No. ICS is Googles Android OS. CM9 is a modded version of it.
ics simply refers to android version 4.0. Cm9 is based off of android 4.0 aosp but has many added features and tweaks.
Just like cm7 is based off of android 2.3 (gingerbread) aosp.

I think his question is really what is the difference between the two. Which right now I don't think there is much. I think it's just about porting and getting everything working. Maybe there is some small optimizations done but nothing heavy. I think cyanogenmod is working on adding features as we speak and will most likely release a big beta with all of them implemented vs small amounts being added over time

Probably the coolest one in the works is the ability to root and unroot your phone via settings. The new music app is nice too. There's a lot being added every week. Its not complete or even close to being but it is looking awesome.

Why does everyone wants ICS so much?

Hey guys, I recently went into Verizon and played with the galaxy nexus. Its a nice phone, but what's so fantastic about ICS? I thought it was too dark, and really slow (at least the display model was). I've used sky-ics rom and I had to go back to StockMod.
So why exactly does everyone want it and ask about it? Personally I prefer touchwiz, its a lot more intuitive. The biggest difference I saw was the widgets displayed in the launched and the recent app tray thing. But its not like a game changer.
I don't mean to offend anyone, but just curious.

No worries. ICS is no JB that's for sure, and truth be told ALL the awesome options available to the Blaze should be tried out! That's the great thing about having such options - you can start choosing based on preferences as opposed to basic functionality. I'm a smali hack at best - I would consider the other tinkerers for the Blaze to be far more qualified of a "developer" title than I really - so folks should really make sure to test the various waters as you never know what you might be missing!

Well single core to dual core, NFC, slightly larger screen, 4g 42mbps, larger capacity battery, and adreno 220 are things that I would consider better. At my dad's house near Minneapolis I can pull 20+mpbs on 4g...
But at the end of the day, you still are running android and that's not going to change much... and if you liked sense than you will likely not like TW. No guarantee that you also wouldn't like aosp either (my wife doesn't - she prefers sense). My wife has a sensation 4g and I see a major difference between her phone and my blaze. I prefer the blaze, because of those features listed (and access to the sd card without having to dissemble the phone to get to it) and I prefer TW (using TW5 launcher) to any sense rom. Sense just seems bloated to me and the Blaze just seems to be more responsive.
But hey, they're just phones and everyone is entitled to their own opinions and can like whatever they choose to like

Widgets

People what are you're opinions ?
Basically iPad owners always talk about the system and software being smooth, which is probably true, and how Android maybe slightly laggy, well, could the problem lie in widgets?
Meaning without them would android run any smoother, because once you put say 2 or 3 widgets on one screen,it lags, just wanted your opinions thanks.
