I noticed that with every clip I play, coreplayer exhibits frame drops...
My video settings are : directdraw / smoothzoom ON / Dither checked.
try to play a clip, and after it has been partially/fully played, enter "menu" -> "media properties" and see if yours exhibits too. maybe it needs better drivers, or my unit is somewhat defective (ROM 1.48wwe).
Sorry, where i can find the original HD video of HELICOPTER? Thanks

I have the same ROM. I think you should use GDI instead of directdraw, just checked with The Matrix, no dropped frames ;-)).
frame drops
Shut down all communication, use airplane mode. whilst updating twitter, coreplayer can stutter like flashing disco light. when htc is updating email it will frame drop...but only slightly.
so to summerise, try going into airplane mode.
Thanks guys.
Tried what you suggested - still dropped frames. tried again after a hard reset without a sim card in the device. still.
What am I doing wrong?!
you sure you watched the videos for amount of time before checking inside "media properties"?... just loading a clip and getting into this menu will obviously show "0", since nothing has been played yet.
ähm,
can you give proberities of media, please.
(for example ....bitrate, 800*600 ... )
core-options: zoomfactor? which is yours? best fit or streched ..?

SIR, i have 320*240, yours is 300*600, filmlenght 1h41minutes, likes your filmlenght and same framrate
BUT FILESIZE .... dit you use any bitrates .... your filesize is 16 times smaller than mine (or i need glases)
you could be lucky, that yo have only 74 drops ....
happy new year.
Use new DivX Mobile Player 0.93 is the best for divx.

It's more like 1 minute and 41 seconds, to me...
Man, i got this same problem. I've tried everything with coreplayer, all different settings, plane mode. Still drops on playing films.
I even convereted to mp4 and it still drops. I know it's coreplayer problem because the htc player and windows media play the mp4's fine.
The only video i've seen it play without drops is a low quality 3gp file.
I even tried different versions of core player but still the same results. I'm on rom 1.48 so maybe this is the problem, but i doubt it. I'm updating to 1.66 soon so we will see......
Coreplayer will never get anywhere near the level of performance that WMP and HTCAlbum can manage on file formats that they can handle, because they are GPU-accelerated and CorePlayer is not. Use them for mp4's, and CorePlayer for things they can't handle.
Best settings for CorePlayer:
"Best fit" zoom, Dither on, smooth zoom on/always, DirectDraw as renderer, YUY2 as DirectDraw overlay format, tick "use device stretching when blitting", untick "overlay with colorkey" and untick "use blitting instead of overlays".
To get better performance, try disabling Sense UI as well as going into "airplane mode".

Ok mate, yeah i know your settings, i've given up to be honest. But what is strange is that sometimes it will play the file without any drops and then most of the time it will drop badly. Even after a soft reset straight off.
Call me weird but most of the time I play my videos at 200% speed. I change this in the main settings, not while watching the video. As soon as I back out of the video or turn off the device, the settings turns back to 100 in that video, but not really 100% because it sounds like it is slowed down. When I manually change the settings back in the video (in main it is still 200) everything is fine, even if I back out again)

Goto Settings » Player & disable "Remember Selection"
It seems to be issue in saving file specific settings.
Reported to the development team. Will be fixed in future.
Sorry, but that does not seem to do the trick.
Thanks for reporting it.
I don't want to use power button, double tap or simulate that. I just want to disable display for some time and then turn it back on. Is this possible? Thanks.
Edit: this app does it flawlessly with root. https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-screen-backlight-off-xda-exclusive-t3037380
Objectives
1. Apps should be running in foreground thinking I'm using phone.
2. Only display module should be affected.
3. Android itself should think that the display is turned on and should play YouTube videos (though i dont want youtube.. Its just an example plz don't comment YouTube vanced)..
Possible solutions:
1. Rename display driver files (idk location).
2. Make brightness 0 (idk how to do this.. Idk default value too)
Ps: even if there is adb command plz tell me that.. Along with command to turn display on again lol
Double tap to sleep and double tap to wake
??? I don't want my android to sleep. I want to just disable the display not put phone on sleep like double tap, power button etc..
Use the game mode...it has a screen off feature...just manually add the app as a game you want to use this feature on. Even sound works...just screen turns of...helps with YouTube for free background play ?
I'm not on stock MiUi rom bro I'm using syberia os.. Thanks for idea btw..
Break the screen
If you're on custom rom, then find one with smart pixel and disable around 80-90% of the pixels
Thanks but smart pixels is useless for non amoled phones..
Do u want to take picture of someone secretely??
If so then there is already an app for that which disables the screen and then u just tap anywhr on the screen whn the display is off and snap any photo/vid.
Lol no nothing like that.. I just want to disable my display panel to watch hotstar app for long times.. I don't need video only audio... So I wanna disable display panel to save battery.
My god the OP has a lot of issues for an absurd problem
Found solution. https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-screen-backlight-off-xda-exclusive-t3037380
add to game turbo you can turn off display and running game/on background with display turn off..
I have the phone for a week now. I been trying to turm off the gps on all the time. But i can't find the option .
Before in location settings there where 3 options
Gps
Device
Network location (bettery friendly)
Now in Android9 the option is gone, i think thats one of the reason the battery dont last as long. Also the screen being so bright.
So, is there a way to enable network location, other than having location off, with location off some apps dont work
The second question
How to enable HDR10+ or will it be added as an update?
I use the GPS button on scroll down, as far as I know apps that need GPS demand it to be turned on. They'll take you to GPS settings to turn on. Hdr10+ is automatic, I don't have hdr TV so I really noticed it when I played Pokémon go

Are you sure is automatic?

HDR10+ is automatic, im pretty sure it relies on Widevine L1 support
Yes, as I have my old s8 plus still I noticed the brighter colors and the smoother 90hz. Even royal revolt 2 had same effect. Been looking at the s8 for 2 years so defiantly a difference
testing by swipe down app Facebook smoothly 120hz but!! app Instagram not 120hz no smooth.
there's a developer option (in phone's developer menu, enable developer options to see it) to see the real FPS/hz, check with it, AFAIK its enabled in 99% apps, except some which lower it like youtube
