[Q] SOD I think..? - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm running Prime 1.7 I never had any problems with my tablet. It has the creaking and light bleed. I was watching netflix the other day and watched all the way till the battery went completely dead 0%. I got home plugged it in and it charged up all the way but now the screen wont turn on. If i connect it to the mini hdmi i can see everything on the tv but screen still wont turn on.
I've tried:
Fixing Permissions
Clearing Cache
Undoing overclock
Removing SD
Turning it all the way off waiting then turning it back on.
Adjusted the Brightness
Changed Wifi.
I cant factory reset or anything in CWM because it doesn't show up on the tv through hdmi and i cant remember the each button pushes to do it blind.
Any Ideas?

Mine went blank once but that was the adw launcher. Rotating it fixed it and i was able to choose stock launcher. If nothing works you can try screencast to see the recovery on PC if you have Android sdk setup.

Did you try to hold down the Powerbutton till it switches off to make a correct Restart?
When the Tab is running hold the Powerbutton till it's off and wait till it starts again.
Normaly that helps with SOD.

You should press the power button 10 to 15 seconds...

So far nothing worked. I'm on stock launcher also.
I've tried to resetting it over and over still nothing.
I attempted to letting the battery die completely again.
Placed it on the dock and nothing.
Thank you for the suggestions. I will update if i ever solve the issue. I'm going to try screencast, but i never used it before.

I got screencast to open up and running. however it wont work in recovery. ADB recognizes it. I keep getting a blank screen. Any ideas?
I'm thinking the best option would be to nvflash it to stock and RMA it if it doesn't work.

NV Flash
Hi
if nothing else seems to work then NV Flash might be the best idea.
Could you share the BXX(First 3 digits of serial number)?
Thanks

[Q] *S.O.S* Stuck in the market with screen ON !FIXED!

So Im running Prime1.5 with clemsyns OC kern..
I go into the market and started dl'n some apps and all of a sudden the screen freezes and it wont turn off no matter what i do..
I tried connect via adb to perform a reboot command, and it wont connect..
So Im stuck with my screen on, almost full battery and Asus TF is froze..
Do i just play the waitin game and let the battery drain and turn off so that i can reboot it? or what are my options??
Has anyone ever ran in to this??
Please help.. I had LG Gslate and this happened once and there was a reset button next to the sim slot.. NOT the case here unfortunately
BTW: I did search first and only came up with "stuck in boot"
It may sound silly...but have you tried to hold the power button for a good 10-15secs (or a little longer) ?

[Q] Screen won't stay on for more than an Instant

ok, weird issue.
Yesterday I came back to my TF having left it inmy bag for the day, and it would not turn on at all.
I tried various things and then decided that the battery must be totally dead.
I left it to charge over night, and come the morning was able to watch it booting.
However once It finished boot it goes to black screen. Pressing the power button sometimes gives a flicker of backlight and then goes blank again. sometimes it even gives a glimpse of the screen.
Plugging in the power sometimes gives a longer blink of the booted ROM.
I have tried a cold boot, a full data wipe and I have used NV flash to fully reinstall the ROM (Prime 1.8)
After the full reinstall I go through the Google initial setup process without a problem, as soon as the rom boots I am back to the flicker of screen going off..
Does anyone have any ideas??
Still got the problem, does this sound like hardware to anyone else?
if the screen doesnt work during boot it is hardware problem. flash ur rom again or wipe it

Screen works fine during boot
Done both of your suggestions unfortunately, as I stated in my original posting.
I am going to try going back to Stock, and assuming its an app NOT restore any during the rebuild process.

[Q] only with power cable on

I've just installed the new Revolution HD 3.2.1 and the latest Kernel 16b.
The tablet is very fast and stable now, no more reboots. There are only two things that happens and that's Dolphin browser crashes sometimes and when my tablet is off and I want to start it up, I have to use my power cable otherwise it won't start up. If I want to use the battery only it won't start up. Is the anybody else with the same issue?
how long are you holding down the power button waiting for start up?

20 or more seconds. Normally it worked fine but lately it went from bad to worse to nothing!
Same here
Mine is doing the same thing. I flashed another ROM (was using Revolution) thinking it was the ROM, but no. I have done a lot of reading and still am not sure of what is causing it. Some say the power button is wonky and the tablet needs to be sent back to Asus, but when it is booted up the button reacts just fine to sending it into and bringing it out of sleep. I am perplexed.

Exactly, the only time the button refuses to work is when the tablet is off and I want to turn it on when it's not on mains power. But as soon as I put the main power cable in the tablet I don't even have to push the button it just goes on
and if I want to flash something and I push the power button and the volume down button, it works. But the main power cable must be plugged in.
RMA'ing mine
After researching until I was blurry-eyed I decided that it has to be a hardware issue. I unrooted following the Unlockr guide and flashed the most recent stock build (.24) from Asus's support page so I could send it in for service. (I couldn't get a download for the stock ROM from the Unlockr link and that's why I used the one from Asus...just unzipped main folder and moved to SD card from my PC, then inserted card into the TF101. As soon as SD mounted a notification popped up saying that there was an update ready to install.)
Also, another strange thing is that I can't connect it to my PC. It just says USB device unrecognized. I tried EVERYTHING and no luck. I really would have thought that returning it to complete stock would have solved that issue but no. Hopefully when it comes back I'll have that functionality back too. I have my doubts but we'll see. Maybe one of those custom kernels I flashed that were associated with Megatron's ROM did something with the firmware that flashing stock couldn't change. I really have no idea and I don't recall trying to connect to my PC with it while I was on Megatron's ROM so I don't really even know at what point it stopped working. I will say that it was my favorite ROM.

screen turning off issue

i just had an episode of an issue that worries me.
I had the tf700 docked and put to sleep by closing the keyboard/tablet. 8 hours later, I pressed the power button and nothing turned on. I thought somehow the battery completely drained, so I plugged in power adapter and still nothing. I tried holding down power and nothing.
Then I undocked, and plugged in ac adapter. After holding down power button for quite a few seconds, i get th screen to come on and the message to confirm tuning the unit off. Apparently the unit has been on but the screen off.
After I rebooted, I find the unit sluggish as if I/O issues again.
I am on firmware .26 US latest. It has been fine until now.
My biggest concern is that I remember a friend of mine describing this issue with his TF101, and said the only way to get it back on was by plugging in the power adapter.
Anyone else can shed some light on this?
I've had this on my SGS2 a few times, and on my previous phone (LG O2x as welll) -- in both cases it was related to issues with deep sleep (and on the SGS2 standard custom kernel undervolting), implying that changing kernels would cure this (or make it immensely worse, hahaha ). Having said that, I do recommend following this issue closely, and if this happens again, I'd reflash .26 from a full wipe. If it then still does it, I would suspect some hardware issue.
Again, to at least provide you a bit of reassurance: I've never encountered the error on my SGS2 again after flashing a (very, very nice) kernel, and the O2x only does it very infrequently now (but has crappy kernel development, at least when I checked last, so I'm still not very satisfied. Might tryCM9 with it or something...).

Before doing any of that I would do a "cold boot." That can solve your problem in its entirety before having to use drastic measures.

what is a cold boot?
it has only happened once, so its probably infrequent. However, I am more afraid of the inopportune times it cn happen. What if it happened when i am away from home with no ac adapter, like on a plane? I won't be able to boot then?

Here is how to "cold boot" (copy and paste from other thread), should resolved your issue.
1. Press and hold down “power button” until the system shuts down.
2. Remove the SD card from Eee Pad.
3. Press and hold down “Volume down” button first, and then press and hold down the “Power” button until the screen appears with 2 icons, one is a droid and one is wipe data and upper left corner should said cold boot linux.) now let go your fingers. Make sure do not press any buttons until the screen mentioned screen appears. If you don't see the 2 icons in the middle of the screen re start from step 1.
5. There’s a line “Press <Vol_Up> to execute, <Vol_Down> to cancel wiping data. Press Volume Up button to execute the “Wipe Data”.
6. After the “Wipe Data” process is done, it will reboot automatically. Then Eee Pad should be able to enter the system successfully.
oh, so cold boot means wiping all apps? have to reinstall everything from scatch r use ttanium backup?
Hi, just wanted to add, happened to me also on my tf700,... I tried factory reset, didn't help, then I tried buhohitr advise of doing a cold boot wipe and that seems to be good.... is only been one day since I tried it, But so far so good... and yes, a wipe does delete your apps if you do a proper wipe.
Thanks!

2 asus tf700 will not boot...only vibrate

I have to Asus tf700 that will not boot they were only vibrate when you push the on button. One is rooted with zombie and the other is stock I get a display on the rooted tablet on the monitor I have connected through HDMI and I am able to navigate on the tablet with the keypad attached. The other one stock unit I am NOT able to get a display on my monitor I have truck I have tried holding the on button and depressing the up and down volume keys no joy. I have tried pushing the manual reset button in the little hole on the side of the tablet. No joy. Is there anyone that can help me thank you in advance for your help.
I'd like to add that both tablets had their batteries drained and his condition appeared after I attempted to recharge them and start them up. Thanks again
Both of them started t do this at the same time???? Did you have power surge when you were charging them? Thunderstorms?
Very strange...
Anyway, if the rooted tablet boots normally and only the display is dead, it's exactly that: the backlight is out and you need a new screen.
The stock unit: Not much yoou can do with a locked bootloader. Can you get it into the bootloader menu with Power +Vol Down?
If not, there's not much more you can do. But you can cannibalize the sceen andput it into the rooted unit!

Restarts as soon as it enters recovery
Hi, my tablet froze last night and could not get out of the frozen screen, so I forced a restart , only to have it boot loop.If I try to go to recovery it just gets to the Twrp image and restarts again.
any help is appreciated.Unit cannot shut down and gets hot at the top left hand corner.Tried to hard reset using the side reset but to no avail.
Thanks.
This is happening a lot lately.... What rom and TWRP version are you running?
Check out the last few pages of the Katkiss Katshmallow thread. That's where we successfully solved this lately.
But I would really like to find out what's causing this. Can you try to access the tab in adb while it's looping in recovery?
Try to pull the recovery log and dmesg log.

Thanks after a lot of attempts manage to get the thing going but could not get to get a log as it was restarting after a second or two in twrp screen but managed to push asus stock and unit is ok. Will root again and use a custom as it surely runs much better.
Thank you for your attention.

Hey, I'm experiencing the same issue right now.
In my search I found this:
http://forums.androidcentral.com/as...216663-tf700t-now-won-t-turn-post2270270.html
I plugged it into my pc and after a short period, pressing the power button showed a battery icon in the red zone. so I'm going to leave it plugged in overnight.
