If i could buy a Tmobile Sidekick 4g, without a contract, would i have to unlock it to use it with T-Mobile's Monthly 4g? Or could it just work?

Of course. It's no secret that AT&T is sketchy at best!
I've had a droid 2 global (ugh) for about 6 months now and I plan on buying an HTC trophy instead. However, I am concerned that I won't be able to activate the trophy when I get it. If I buy an unlocked htc trophy off of amazon, will I be able to activate it with verizons network? I've read that verizon doesn't support unlocked phones.

If its gsm then no, VZW has a cdma network. non verizon phones have th be sent in to be programmed to work on vzw's network if they have the proper cdma antenna. In other words, if you want a phone to work on vzw or sprint, make sure its branded for the carrier before you buy it.
Don't worry, you'll be able to activate it no problem, and besides, the isn't the Trophy Verizon's anyway? Just be sure to do the ESN swap online, they'll charge you if you go in-store.
Sent from Penthesilea (Venue Pro)
You'll have to buy a CDMA Trophy. A regular GSM Trophy doesn't support Verizon's CDMA network.

It depends on the phone model, but if it is new, chances are it supports both. What kind of phone is it?
You will only get 2G speeds on AT&T. This is true with even the newest of phones (Sensation, MT4G Slide...)
Hey all, I did a search for this and found what I was looking for, but Im hoping someone can clearify for me this questions..
If I root my Inspire 4G from ATT with the ace hack kit, is it considered "Unlocked" and able to be used on t-mobile?
Thanks,
David
Using the Hack Kit will also sim unlock the Inspire. Yes you will be able to use it on T-mobile. But you will only get Edge data speeds as T-mobile and ATT use different 3G bands.

Hi,
My friend gave me an used Motorola XT557. HW V4.0. It was a Republic Wireless phone and he is not using it anymore and his contract expired. Because it is a CDMA phone, can I use it with other CDMA carriers? such as Verizon, Sprint, or those CDMA prepaid wireless providers? Or I have to tweak the OS/ROM in order to do that? Thank you for your help.

Probably not with Verizon. Possibly with Sprint, since Republic uses their network. The best people to ask would be Verizon or Sprint themselves.
