this may be a fried emmc chip. check the index.

try format cache

Check using 4ext recovery if possible that your cache is EXT4, what serious do you get when trying to format cache?
This thread shouldn't be posted in this development section, I have requested that it's moved . The end of the first post on the main index thread, see last link in my signature, has a section all about this possible issue

I think this is a symptom of the infamous fried eMMC chip problem, however I recall reading that this can occur if the partition table is corrupted. Read this thread for more information.
Sound like the above I'm afraid. Hope you mangae to get it sorted tho

Hopefully, it may not be the infamous emmc issue, it's worth your time to check whether you *may* be affected.

Mounts and Storage

Hello,
So I followed demkantor's guide (here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2221030&page=3 on post 27). I got up to step 18 and typed that command. When the phone entered into clockworkmod 3.0.2.8, I clicked on Mounts and Storage. I don't see any of the options listed and only see mount usb storage, and, below that, this string of errors:
E: Missing bitmap icon_clockwork
(Code -1)
Clockworkmod Recovery v3.0.2.8
E: Failed to open /etc/recovery.fstab (no such file or directory)
E: Unknown volume for path [/cache/recovery/log]

I honesty don't know what to do. I have been at this for 6 hrs today to no avail. Please, can anyone set me straight on what I could be doing wrong, even after following the guide?
Are you just trying to root and cwm your sidekick?

[Q] Recovery Issues [Please Help]

Okay, so I've always used HTC devices so rooting, unlocking, etc on a Samsung device is extremely foreign to me but I did it to the best of my abilities. I flashed a custom recovery but when I boot into it it says at the bottom:
"ClockworkMod Recovery v6.0.2.3
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/command
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log"
Furthermore, every time I try to 'install zip from sdcard' I get "E:Can't mount /sdcard/"
Is there any solution to this? I have achieved root through a program on my computer if that helps.

Try updating to the newest recovery, TWRP 6.0.3.1 or cwm 6.4.3.0. That version is really old and is probably giving you problems.
I have a thread in the general section with all the new recoveries if you want to check that out. Or you can go to their websites and download their.img files, and flash them using ez recovery or flashify.

I had exactly the same issue. Use rom manager to update the recovery, don't use the touch recoveries yet. After that, your good to go.
