Going to start using the Inspire as my main music player (thanks to Ubermusic, which is simply too good to resist).. looking for recommendations on a 16/32gb microSD.
Also, question: how come Sandisk only has class 4 microSD's? I'm all for getting myself one of these as the reviews are great.. but there might be something faster out there that's close in terms of reliability?
I have encountered zero issues with my PNY 32 gb class 10 card. New Egg has them pretty cheap when they are in stock.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using the power of the dark side.
I've always bought sandisk over the past couple years for my cameras and they been great, very reliable an fast. Right now I have a 32gb class 6 in my Inspire for the past couple months and it's been great for music and movies
I've had good luck with the Patriot 16gb class 10 I bought at newegg.

Where did you find a 32gb class 6 Sandisk microSD? I think you meant class 2..
I ordered a 16gb Sandisk Class 4 MicroSD from Newegg. It's only $20 after promo code EMCKBJJ33, free shipping.

That's a great price I paid 25 off ebay for a 16gb....
yeah thats my mistake it's actually a sandisk 32gb micro sdhc flash memory card writing at 6 mbs and reading at 12.5 mbs around what the min of a class 6 would be doing
SD Tools app(no speed boost)
I gave the SD Tools app a shot after seeing your post and it's a cool app! Here's what I got with my aforementioned PNY class 10 32GB card. $60 from newegg.
I've been using a Class 10 32GB Lexar in my HTC Inspire 4G for a few months now, and it works great.

I paid 20 for a Patriot Class 4 16GB. Worked great. Was pretty fast and large enough for me. But I like to be the guy with all the overkill stuff. So I'm getting a 32GB next.
I just ordered the PNY 32gb class 10. Upgrading from a 16gb class 4 that my wife fried when she took a picture and somehow turned the phone off at the exact same time... Tried everything to get it back to life - but maybe it was divine intervention.
I have a Patriot 16gb class 10 card from Newegg, results have been mixed. Speeds are awesome, but reliability has been an issue. Twice I have had the card become corrupt and had to fix with Chkdsk in Windows, and I have had several individual apps become corrupt and require a reinstall. Not major issues, just minor annoyances for me.

PNY 32GB microSDHC card
Ditto on the PNY 32gb microSD card. Works flawlessly on my Inspire. Seems a lot speedier than the 16gb one that came with the phone. Be ready to shed 2gb from formatting though, since it will only have a total capacity of 29.9gb on the card before tossing anything in it.
Get it from newegg. It was relatively inexpensive for it being a class 10 card, and shipping was fast.

Yes, this is the way memory works, you always get less than the advertised capacity. Bits vs bytes.
Also, you may notice different sizes with different allocation sizes...

You're right about the allocation sizes.
I used 32kilobytes for my allocation size when I formatted the card. Using anything below that caused my previous card to have a somewhat jittery experience on my phone when watching downloaded movies. Then again this new card is a class 10 as opposed to the class 2 16gb microsd card that came included with the phone.
I don't mind losing the 2gb since I have more than adequate space for my music and media on the go for the price paid. =D

Thanks for the link. Seems to be a more straight-forward tester with less eyecandy. Accurate results for testing whether some peeps buying cheap rebranded cards from places like eBay got good deals or duds.
truly there are sandisk class 6
Based on past reviews in the Inspire/DesireHD threads: Sandisk and PNY are pretty safe. Patriot is hit&miss with quality control. Transcend has been downright problematic (surprising, I use to like that brand). Lower "Class" cards tend to be more reliable, but slower (obviously). It seems to be due that the higher-class cards may have higher power requirements while writing, but I can't find any way to confirm that (rumor, really).
I got a Sandisk Class-4 16GB card for my Inspire. It's been rock-solid. Now that 32GB cards are common, the 16GB cards are dirt cheap these days.

is limit made by Samsung?
SDXC is a new SD technology, so it isn't supported by most products atm.
Brief History of SD cards.
We went from SD (max 2GB) to SDHC (max 32GB which is what GS supports) to SDXC (Don't know the max).
Also, those cards are normal sized, not microSD (GS only takes MicroSD). I don't know if microSDXC cards exist yet (probably I guess).
Also, I don't know whether it's possible to support SDXC through firmware updates, or if it requires a hardware upgrade (to the microSD slot).
Hope that helps bud.
but i just wonder can Samsung Galaxy S support 64 gb SDXC?
Most smartphones don't use SD Cards, but rather use MicroSD cards so to answer your question no.

You are talking of the Kingston card.
Even though it is a class 10 don't take it for granted that it will be faster than a class 6.
Not all cards conform to their class ratings.
As an example ~ I was going to purchase a 16GB class 6 (I have the same card in my HD2), however, I found that the Sandisk Ultra II 16GB which is a class 4 was actually much , much faster.
I purchased the Ultra II and am happy to say it does indeed perform much better than the class 6 which I temporary removed from the HD2 to test.
Tests were carried out on both PC file transfer Read/Write using a USB card reader and in the Galaxy S for record/playback of video content.
I was pretty certain that sandisk's 32gb class 2 microsd card was the only 32gb microsd card available, but i found this

not yet, the highest is 32GB microSDHC
after that barrier they becomes 64GB microSDXC
there are already standard 64GB SDXC cards, that means the micro version is just around the corner.
usually it's a 6 month lapse from the moment the normal size SD comes out, to when the micro version gets released
now all that aside, i've a 32MB microSD, but never seen one for 64MB
it came as a demo disk for one of my devices

saw a post once cant remember where, but it had a sandisk 2TB yes that is correct 2TB micro sd, im pretty sure its not available, but i gave me hope that one day i mite be able to fit the entire contents of my laptop drive (500GB) and my external (1.5TB) drives on something smaller than my thumbnail.
of course it will be available, in the next 10 years
technology advances are steady.
most of the time the tech is already availble, just not for the public, as they have to develop cheap way to MASS produce those things.

Are these for real Class 4 ?
3C Pro 32GB 32G microSD
TOPRAM 32GB 32G microSD
I ordered a 32GB SanDisk MicroSD card for my Desire HD from a cheap ebay seller. He seemed to have ok feedback and the picture showed the Micro SD card in the standard red SanDisk retail packaging. I paid around 20-22 bucks. I later got a message from ebay saying they had removed the listing due to the owners copyright infringement / fraud and sayed if I had paid they highly recommended I seek a refund. I am still waiting on my case with paypal dispute. Hopefully all will come good there. Just the other day I received the card from China or Hong Kong. It's obviously got different print to "real" SanDisk MicroSD cards I've bought and it came without the retail red packaging. The card didn't work at all in the SD card adapter when put into my laptop running Windows 7. My Cannon SD870 IS Digital Elph camera did recognise the card. I low level formatted the card on the camera and still the SD card adapter on the laptop didn't want to use the card. A USB adaptor worked enough to format the card. I did a full lengthy format. Copying 30GB or so of .mp3s to the card resulted in only most mp3s not playing.

In general all of the above will be fake. I have ordered at least one of all of those things on ebay and not a single one has been genuine.
Yeah i got a 32gb sd card from ebay, fake
Got my money back via paypal protection, didnt have to bother returning the item either since they kicked the guy from ebay.
i think the cards around 4gb was copying at like 800 kbs not really worth me finding out how to sort it out so that it shows up as a 4gb.
Any recommendations on cards/cheap place to get them. 16gb class 4 is £15.99 at mymemory but their out of stock at the moment also you can get 10% cashback via quidco.

Try to copy stuff to them and monitor the transfer rate, then compare with:
Class 2, 2 MB/s.
Class 4, 4 MB/s.
Class 6, 6 MB/s.
Class 10, 10 MB/s.
These are minimum sustained write speeds.

Thing is the write speed is around 2.5 Mb/s and towards the end of a file it drops down to 700Kbs half the time.
It's not the biggest deal in the world, but their are times when i need to drop a quick tv show or film on my dhd and it just takes its sweet time :S
Could it be a faulty card? should i speak to Dane-Elec. Didnt format the card when i got it, should i do that now? its fat 32 if that helps.
Hello,
I want to buy sandisk 32gb from ebay. And there's no sd card images with code and "made in china" on it, on ebay. Then i checked sandisk website, sd card images are without codes and "made in china". So Im a little bit confused now.
What do you think about this one ?
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/San-Disk-...AsAccessories_MemoryCards&hash=item4ab3348993
most hardware is made in china these days
my complete pc says "made in china" and i bought it all from local stores...not even off the internet
Thanks for answer, but i was talking about image that has beed posted in first page .:
In ebay all sd cards images are without those codes and there's not written "made in chine" as it should be in genuine card. But in sandisk website those card photos are without codes and without "made in china"
Is this one reliable and genuine ? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/San-Disk-...AsAccessories_MemoryCards&hash=item4ab3348993

Trying to clear something up - I will be getting a 32GB SDHC Card but wondering about which particular one to go for. There is the SanDisk 32GB microSDHC Card which is listed as Class 2 but theres varying opinions about the actual speed of it compared to cards that are a higher class for example the Lexar 32GB microSDHC Card which is a Class 10.
I'm trying to find out how much of a difference the Class 10 makes to the Class 2 if any because I have read on quite a few different sites the SanDisk Class 2 is just as fast reading and writing?
Here are both the cards
http://www.expansys.com/sandisk-32gb-microsdhc-card-microsd-32gb-class-2-197717/?partner=aw&ito=AFW78888&awc=2959_1301260049_6705c794bf850061e50959b4e440eca8
http://www.expansys.com/lexar-32gb-microsdhc-high-speed-card-with-reader-class-10-208567/?partner=aw&ito=AFW78888&awc=2959_1301260213_cd6f332daa757821910686daf28cb561
If it's class 2 it means it has minimum read/write speed of 2MB/s, while class 10 is 10MB/s.
The Lexar card seems kinda phony.
If it's true I regret buying a Kingston 32GB class 4 for 90€

Prices vary here in the UK significantly depending on which retailer so I wouldn't feel bad.
Heres the Lexar again from another store its even more
http://www.play.com/Mobiles/Mobile/4-/18934088/Lexar-32GB-Micro-SDHC-Class-10-with-Reader/Product.html
I'm just trying to find out for fact is the Lexar Class 10 better as I have always bought SanDisk only.
Would be nice to hear from anyone who has that Lexar card that could confirm if its any good or not.
Sandisk usually deliver more than promised, so a class 4 could be performing like class 6 or even class 10. On the other hand if it performs just like class 4, you can't return it claiming there is something wrong with it. Anyway if i could spare the money for these cards I'd probably go for the SanDisk and hope for higher speeds - their quality is unmatched.
Thanks for that I ordered the SanDisk as you said they are reliable and I have never had any problems with either their sdhc or camera cards.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
I'd recommend Patriot 16gb class 10, just received it today after ordering from Amazon last week! Many good review from other users as well and the price ain't expensive for 16gb Class 10!
Careful when buying Sandisk, I have read there are many counterfeit items sold very cheap on eBay. Those probably are the cards that were rejected by Sandisk (didn't pass QC).
I've always bought genuine SanDisk from reputable places, have this one coming from play.com. I know what your saying about eBay I would never use that place or market type sellers as they are bad news. I was debating the Lexar but too many bad reviews put me off. I haven't heard of that Patriot brand before here in the UK, there's so many though.
I know the SanDisk one I've ordered is class 2 but many people say it performs like class 4 due to SanDisk build. There reliable too that's really why I went for that one, should do the job fine.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
If the speed of 32gb Sandisk was just as good as a class 10 card, then sandisk would label it as class 10. You might be able to see a class 2 card with read/write speeds of above 10mb/s but that doesn't mean that it's as fast as a class 10 card. The class of the card only shows the MINIMUM sustained read/write speeds of the card and has nothing to do with the peak speeds.
My patriot 16GB class 10 is significantly faster than my older 8GB transcend class 6 card, here are some speed comparisons using SD-Tools:
Class10 Patriot - Class6 Transend
As you can see even the class 6 reached over 10mb/s mark, but if I start copying large amount of smaller files (mp3 for example) the speed of the class 6 card plumets to 6mb/s while the class 10 card stays at around 10mb/s.
I have a SanDisk class 2 (8GB), write speed is 7MB/s and read speed 14MB/s.
That's faster than class 6!

I've had 9.0 Write and 170.6 Read on my Lexar 16Gb Class 6
So i recently bought this microSD card:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...NaB1JX0%3D&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK:MEWNX:IT
I was really excited that 32GB cards had gotten this cheap and for a class 10 one I was ecstatic!
Turns out it was a dupe and the drive is not only slow as a turtle, it doesn't really hold anything. (put 10GB of stuff on it and after the transfer was complete I went to the phone and only ~5GB of stuff was on there)
Also the adapter that came with it doesn't even work with it, it only responded to my phone (whereas my trusty 16GB from Dane Elec worked fine in the adapter).
Here's the comparison of my badass Class 2 16GB and the ****ty "Class 10 32GB"

Basically avoid any microSD sales from a user named: soundguyzbb
and I'd say it's safe to say that any microSD from the manufacturer titled "memorette" is bogus as well. I will attempt some of the other 32GB cards in this price range to see if there are any real ones.
This one will be going back for a refund tomorrow morning, I'll update if I find anything good or bad with my further market study
Excellent. Just plain excellent.
You. Just saved me $30
Bravo.

Doing some digging around I found Memorette looks to be a good company but if you notice their highest capacity on their own website is 8GB
The ebay ones all look generic and certainly different then the real deal, scammers gonna scam!

i dont even think there is a real class (10) 32gig micro card in existence.
can anyone confirm that any company even make them? the highest class 10 ive seen is an 8 gig micro sd.

Idk but I just won a Class 2 ADATA 32GB card, I know they are a good company (I run an 8GB Class 6 SDHC in my camera from them and it's great) and am crossing my fingers I'll get another surprisingly fast card like the DaneElec 16GB.
Only cost me $40.03 with an auction, I saw some other brand name ones for $44, maybe slightly less. I'll be sure to make a review of the ADATA when I receive it. Ebay says it will be here between the 14th or 15th

ahh. isee. the price is pretty crazy on those. prolly why i had never seen them.
warning to peeps interested. it seems the patriot brand has some iffy reviews.
82$ for 32gig card is crazy!
Ebay put out an article to watch out for fake sd cards. Too bad you missed it.
I went with the 32gig class 10 lexar on amazon. Works great, amazingly fast transfer speeds!

Have you run SD Tools with that? I'd be interested in the results.

A 32gb alone would be expensive. But at a class 10 also? sounds like an extra 40$

i'm not complaining at that price, considering i have about 4 of the 16gb cards that the phone ships with
I had the same issue. Got one from ebay, real junk. Gonna wait till Best Buy has them on the shelf a couple months before I dive in again. Right now they still don't stock them. They keep saying "coming soon"
I paid $99 for my 32GB class 2 SanDisk microSDHC from Verizon when they first became available about a year ago. It's easily as fast as my 8GB class 6 ADATA which I bought from Newegg. I did some benches on it when I first got it and was really impressed. I'm sure I posted them here...
Anyway, I never buy memory cards on ebay. It's too easy for people to fake capacity and lie about speeds. Plus a high quality card with a low class rating in my experience is much better/faster than a low quality card with a high class rating.
Choices are:
http://www.mymemory.co.uk/Micro-SDHC/SanDisk/Sandisk-32GB-Micro-SD-(SDHC)-Card---Class-4
http://www.amazon.co.uk/SanDisk-Mobile-MicroSDHC-Memory-Adapter/dp/B005FQLN28

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-MB-...cro/dp/B005FY61EK/ref=pd_bxgy_computers_img_c
For those that dont want to click on the links the choices are:
Sandisk 32GB Class 4
SanDisk 32GB Ultra Class 6
Lexar 32gb Class 10
Samsung 32GB Class 10
Some say class 4 for max random reads/writes which is better for our devices and some say class 10 has max sustained reads and writes
Havent heard much on the ultra...
I currently use the Sandisk 32gb cl 4. Works well.
But before this I had a 16gb class 10 Patriot which was a tad bit faster on the load, but I need the space more than the speed at this point lol.
That Sandisk Class 10 you have listed in your links is a Class 6.
The Samsung one is the best of the lot. Class 10 continuous speed and benchmarks similar to the Sandisk Class 4 for Random R/W. I just received my 32 GB Samsung a few days ago.
edit: I couldn't find much info on that Sandisk 32GB Mobile Ultra (class 6). With the right hardware, the read can go up to ~30 MB/s but write is ~8 MB/s. I couldn't find any benchmarks on random r/w. If I had to guess, I would say that based on Sandisk's reputation - it should have good random r/w.
I benched my Samsung with SD Tools in my Sensation (~25% full, so not optimal).
Write: 9.4 MB/s, Read: 25.9 MB/s
I agree with k0zmic. All are good cards and you can't go wrong with any of those.
All are good cards IMO, can't go wrong with any.
Comes down to price and whether you transfer big files back and forth enough to warrant Class 10 speeds for £10 more.
Im thinking lexar or samsung
Is the samsung worth the extra cash?

Yeah I think I did read somewhere (might have been on the back of the Ultra packaging) that it has better random r/w speeds.
Can you do a speed test with the Samsung with file sizes of 1MB and below? I'd like to see how it stacks up. I think it's comparable to a Class 4 card of the same size from what I've seen in other threads so it's a solid card.

I'd go with the Samsung, from what I have read the Lexar doesn't have very good speeds with small random file sizes.
I have the lexar one it's super fast and I don't worry about space

I'm not sure how to test with sizes 1MB and below but here's a crystaldiskmark result with the 50 mb option (I emptied the card, but it benched quicker before I had)

Wow, those are very good random speeds. I may look into getting a Samsung card. My SanDisk class4 is almost that fast in random, but is only class 4 speeds when loading the card up with info.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
personally I will go for lexar one, as it is the leading profesional card for digital camera. however every micro sd card is different so you cant expect to get the same speed from every single one, the class 10 or 6 or 4 indicate that the minimum speed is 10mb/s 6 and 4 mb/s respectively
After seeing the chart above I think im gonna grab a samsung, thanks guys!
Good price for this card too

That's a nice SD card (thinking of picking one up for my camera or camcorder)...
But it won't work in our Sensations since it's a standard SD card.
Fry's had the samsung microsd card for ~36$ USD Shipped a couple days ago.

Just received my Lexar 32 GB Class 10. Was choosing between Samsung Class 10, Lexar Class 10, and SanDisk, but went with Lexar after reading a bunch of reviews. Lexar has been in business for a while.

And have you censidered adata?
- cannot post links atm
I'm using 16 GB class 6 version and it was quite good deal for me. Speed is really good and price is friendly. I'm dissapointed with sandisk after my very expensive pendrive died after one year of using....
