[Q] Mobile Broadband in Mexico - HTC Sensation

all,
I have been travelling back and forth to Mexico, I can put my pre-paid Telcel Sim in my phone and the "talk" portion works perfectly but I have no access to Mobile data even though the Telcel Rep says I do.
Is this because the T-Mobile Sensation UTMS frequency is 2100Mhz (or so I have been told) and Telcel is 1900Mhz (again so I have been told). or is it for some other reason?.

Telus ==> Telstra

I'm taking a holiday to Australia, and want to use my Telus TP2 in Australia.
If I unlock my Telus TP2, and get a Telstra SIM, will that work?
According to this Wikipedia page you should be good for 3G there.

I don't care about 3G (because I don't get 3G on Telus' network anyway...****ers...), I care about being able to SIM unlock my phone, put a Telstra SIM in, and connect to the Telstra network as a Telstra customer (I would get a plan there).
I've heard weird things about CDMA and its registration plan...
Telstra works on regular GSM bands. You should be fine.
I don't know if they have any CDMA networks in AU... but in any case, just set your (unlocked) phone settings to GSM/UMTS only and it won't see any CDMA networks.

[Q] Telus TP2 on PCMobile (Bell) SIM?

I just picked up a lightly used Telus TP2
HardSPL, SimUnlock, 2.32.00WU radio, and recent Energy Rom installed
When I put an active sim from a PC mobile (bell reseller) and have phone set to gsm only mode, phone can only see Rogers network
PC mobile (bell) sim package says phone needs to support UMTS/HSPA on 850mhz and 1900mhz
On HTC site the tech specs for the Telus phone show
1X EVDO REV A 800/1900MHz, HSPA 2100MHz, GSM/ GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900MHz
So did I make a mistake by buying this phone, I do not want to activate with Telus CDMA, I want to use this phone with a Bell SIM.
I'm really hoping there is just some setting somewhere that I didn't know to set.

[Q] GTi9020t in Korea???

I own a GT-I9020t (tmobile) and just moved to south korea. I think I've read that the phone should still work by swapping SIM cards with a Korean carrier (like KT). Just wondering if it is possible or not.
Phone comes unlocked. You can put any sim card and you wont face any problems
So if I take my T-Mobile GSM Nexus S to say Korea, it will work by simply swapping to a Korean SIM Card? Like 3G and phone all works?
I thought there were some regulations like getting permission from the government to use foreign phones (like some Koreans had to do that pre-iPhone era).
Thanks!
I dunno about 3g, you should check mobile network frequencies in Korea. But yeah, you can use any unlocked GSM phone with any sim card. I live in the middle east, my phone is 9020t which I bought from the states. Never had problems with it even when swapping sim cards during my trips to Europe.

As long as radio frequencies are same, it should work right? So if I go to Korea and Korean mobile provider has these frequencies, it should work?
T-Mobile USA owns licenses to operate a 1900 MHz GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) PCS (Personal Communications Service) digital cellular network and a 1700 MHz/2100 MHz UMTS AWS (Advanced Wireless Services) digital cellular network that cover areas of the continental United States, Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. T-Mobile USA provides coverage in areas in which it does not own radio frequency spectrum licenses via roaming agreements with other operators of compatible networks.

T mobile uses 850-900-1800-2100 for 2g and 900-1700-2100 for 3g. You shouldn't worry about voice since its a quad band and works in every country around the world. If any mobile network provider has the same numbers above for 3g, then you're ok
It should work fine in Korea. It's just a matter of acquiring the local sim (or USIM as they call it)or registering the phone and I'm not sure how easy it is to do it.

[Q] Is the international HTC One S version compatible with any carrier's 3g speeds?

I have both the T-Mobile and the international unlocked version. I have the latter because, in my excitement, I didn't take care to find out if it will work on T-Mobile's 3G speeds. To my dismay, it doesn't, and I have an extra phone.
I'm wondering if it will work on any other carrier's 3G/4G data speeds. Searching forums and support threads haven't gotten me any answers. Any help at all would be appreciated.
I bought mine in Britain and am using it quite happily here in Japan. T-Mobile USA has a relatively rare frequency band internationally; I think as long as you have 2100MHz and 900MHz bands, which this phone has, there should be an operator in almost every country that the phone will work on. In fact, it should work on most operators in most countries.
The phone has 850/900/2100 MHz bands for 3G; T-Mobile runs "4G" (actually 3G) on 1700/2100 aka AWS - this requires BOTH bands to be present in the phone, which is why the One S doesn't work. T-Mo USA also has 1900MHz, again not present in the One S. Can you get EDGE 2G data, which should be possible on 850MHz?
In the USA, it should work on AT&T, as they use 850MHz for 3G. Maybe you can find someone who will lend you a SIM to check it.
In Europe & Asia, it should generally work no problem.

[Q] wcdma phone on straight talk cdma network. please help!!

Hello! I have been at this for a week now.
This is my situation, I bought a fully unlocked dual sim wcdma phone (Mpie 909T) running 4.4.2 KitKat.
I want to use this phone on my straight talk plan, but I only get service from Verizon wireless where I live.
I did some searching and found that I could use a R-UIM card to pick up signal from Verizon BUT I can not find where to buy one at (unless I buy bulk for a couple hundo). So I'm at a loss. I didn't realize that I didn't get service from at&t or T-Mobile till I got the phone and went to the straight talk site and it told me to buy a sim card activation kit, (checked on AT&T site to make sure I would have service and it showed that I would)... so I went and bought the kit only to find out that they actually don't have service out here. ? so if there is no way to find a r-uim card, would there be a way to change the radio frequencies in the phone? But I would also need a MEID # to activate on straight talk CDMA (Verizon towers). Or can I get one of those sim read/writer kits on eBay and program it to work?
I have not rooted the phone yet.
PLEASE HELP!!! I love this phone!!
I've been using the phone via WiFi from my old dx2 that's currently active.
Sadly, you cannot access a CDMA2000 network like Verizon's from a device that does not have a CDMA2000 transceiver. CDMA2000 is technologically incompatible with GSM and UMTS (sometimes called WCDMA). There are some dual mode devices, but Verizon explicitly forbids non-Verizon devices on their network. Even if you could somehow get a RUIM for Verizon, and their blessing to use it, your phone would not work unless it specifically has a CDMA transceiver in it. (remember, CDMA and WCDMA are not the same)
You need a device that supports not only the right technologies, but also the right frequencies. Most Dual-SIM phones are based exclusively on GSM and UMTS/WCDMA, and often operate on frequencies that are not comparable with US GSM operators. AT&T operates on GSM850, GSM1900, UMTS850, UMTS1900, and several bands of LTE. T-mobile operates on GSM1900, UMTS1700, UMTS1900, and several bands of LTE as well. However, most networks outside the Americas use GSM900, GSM1800, UMTS2100, and LTE800, 1800, and 2600.
You can use a site called GSMArena to check which bands your device has. If you want to use a CDMA carrier (Verizon, Sprint, and many rural operators in the US), you generally have to buy a phone with their branding or one of their partners.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news
I have similar question. Since I am currently using ST with a Verizon phone ( CDMA) could I buy a new phone to replace current one ? And does it need to be another CDMA phone? And what is LOCKED/UNLOCKED have to do with it ?

This is a very large problem. I am in the same boat. Up here, we have Verizon, and ATT. that's it. My first phone here was ATT. worked great in town. As soon as I got to my house dead.,... I bought a Nexus 6 popped the Verizon SIM in it called straight talk they registered me on Verizon's network and boom Full LTE, and VoLTE. My issue now though is I want to try other devices and it seems that the N6 is literally the only non branded phone I can use. There are some awesome new Chinese devices I would love to try and on paper have the correct signals but still claim no Verizon. I am frustrated and stumped after weeks of research and conflicting reports. Does anyone know what is going on? Thanks in advance
