Copied all my songs onto internal memory, music player says that it cant play the file types, they are all mp3's...however poweramp works fine and plays all of them. Anyone else having this issue?
I don't know why you would put media on the internal memory. I have 8Gb of mp3's on my external sd and have no issues with the stock music player and Power Amp also works well.

It has 16GB internal..what else would you do with 16gb's of space, besides media? Anyhow I rebooted and it started working fine, so I guess I should of tried that before ever posting.
well at least now we know reboot after copying media files to internal memory. lol
I think it has to rescan the media card after all those songs are put into the internal memory. rebooting forces rescanning.
ALSO you guys should download Music PLayer 3.0 beta from Google. It works on Froyo but not on the JVB JVH cappy's hahahaha... its a nice bonus
Having same issues, with a twist.
I like custom ringtones. So, I did what I have done for all previous android phones. I placed two folders (ringtones and notifications) on the 16 gig internal memory partition. I set up my custom ringtone via settings and imported my music. All was well. I tested out the ringtone and had several phones calls. About two hours later though, I looked at my phone and noticed I had some missed calls. That was odd, as the phone was sitting right next to me. I went to settings and none of my custom ringtones would work, just the stock ones. I also tested out music player and it said invalid format for every one of my mp3's. Doubletwist simply said the file could not be found. The only one that would play them was Moboplayer. I rebooted the phone and everything started working again. So, I thought it was a fluke. Turns out, another 6 hours later, same thing happened again. I had added no new files, etc. My custom ringtones and mp3's simply quit working and again, only Moboplayer would play my mp3's. This is all fixed by a reboot though. However, I shouldn't have to reboot every few hours because I'm afraid my ringtones will quit working. Any ideas? Sorry this was so long.
This started doing the exact same thing to me a couple of days ago. All of my music, videos, an customer ringtones stop playing. I have tried several different music players and they all receive an error that they cannot play the music type. Restart the phone, and bam, everything plays normally. Later in the day, it comes right back. Any suggestions?

How do you have your media folder setup?
I keep getting an error this has stopped. Any ideas?
Did you try clearing it's data? Manage applications -> All -> select the media process and force stop it then clear data. Hopefully with a fresh start on collecting data it will stop crashing.

Odd. That's all it took for me to get it to behave. Force stop then clear cache and data. I restarted and used my tablet for about 4 hours last night and never had the error.

Interesting as I've been using zep's script for months and immediately added it when I first got my tablet. I didn't need to bulletproof anything just the force stop and clear data. But I did use the OOM groupings and minfrees it calculates. For those not using the script give it some consideration. It does wonders on lower end phone which are lacking memory but still makes a noticeable difference, to me at least, on current higher end devices like the Transformer or my HTC flyer.

thanks,
Also i just now rebooted my tf to find the micro sd card is not being read by the tf, it shows in the notifications and has all the music files etc still on it but is not recongnized by any apps.
Is this connected to the media process fail issue?
any idea how to fix.
Update:
I tried reformating the sd card putting some music and photos back on it.
Force stopping media from app list than wiped data from media, rebooted with new formated sd card but still shows sd card in the notifications and can access it from the sd card menu in notifications-seeing all the files on it, but none of the apps recongnize it- can go into any music app but does not see music on the card.
Any suggestions to try
I had this problem for 2 weeks, and then after upgrading to ICS, it persisted. So I did a reset to factory defaults, and that fixed it.
I'm sure there's a way to fix it without taking the reset sledgehammer to it, but I figured now was a good time, since I had just got ICS running, and other folks said a factory reset seemed to help fix other problems and make things faster. Plus I had tons of apps installed, many of which i didn't need, and uninstalling them would take time.
Just backup all your stuff! I ended up backing up files, and then rooting so I coudl backup apps and app data with titanium backup.
Okay so I have a 32 GB external SD card, and I use my phone everyday to play music and take pics, everything gets stored to my External SD but for the last week or so, My SD card doesn't load my music, it says I have it but then doesn't have anything playable, then Gallery doesn't load, it says scanning media but even after an hour of scanning nothing works, But when I take my SD card out and connect it to my comp I see everything and everything is functional, could it be a problem with the ICS leak? or maybe my phone? I'll go back to Gingerbread if I have to...

Sounds like a problem with your phone or a bad flash. Try reflashing whatever ROM you are on. Make sure you read and follow directions for whatever ROM you use. Not following directions can cause some really weird bugs.

Okay so I should reflash... weird because I never had any problems with any of the times I flashed... I'll try to see if I can flash it tonight
Weird, mine did the same, but I didn't change anything. Aliens attacking?

I have similar problem with only music not showing on MUSIC PLAYER(cd + note icon), scan sdcard, clear data wouldn't do anything. But they show up on PLAY MUSIC(Head Phone icon)

Take everything off and put the blank sd back in the phone and format the sd with the phone, then load your stuff back on.

This could be fixed with a simple factory reset. I'd try that before re-flashing anything.

I would also try what's recommended above but first format it in he computer after you have removed your stuff THEN boot up the phone without the SD card. Insert it. Format it then reset he phone so it can rescan it after the format. Copy a temp or test file such as a single song onto it. See if it reads it. If it does it may be OK. If not then reflash/reset ROM. I am running the ucle2 leak and have had no issues. Course I'm running the stock pics leak rooted with bloatware quarantined so it may be a sky ics from issue.

The problem went away after I did a factory reset!!! But I just hate redownloading apps now, and setting everything back up
Anyone tried to just go to Applications, then Media Storage, then clear the cache for that? Then restart the phone, that cache is what the phone maintains to know what music files, photos, videos, etc are on there and creates a minature DB for it to search instead of looking at the files directly. When the media scan happens initially it builds that cache, maybe for some reason its corrupt. Ive had that happen (not exactly your problem) where I get doubles of everything, clearing that cache and letting it re-scan everything fixed it for me.
I agree doing a factory reset sucks to have to resetup everything again. For the others still having the issue, try clearing that first, then proceed with factory reset if needed.

Hello.
just signed up, but have lurked and searched for a while.
I've recently updated my phone to the official ICS update.
And, i regret it. Loved it before, and should have gone with the old saying of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Phone is not rooted, and is on TMOUS.
radio is a pioneer deh-p6000ub
sd card is Lexar MicroSDHC 32 GB Class 10
I have searched here, and on google trying to find an answer to my problem, but to no avail.
I thought I had found it in the noob question thread, but nope.
Problem: SD card is giving me a lot of issues when plugged into my car radio's usb. I'm going to be as detailed as possible, so may be a bit of a read.
when first plugging it in, the phone doesnt recognize that its plugged in, stereo gives me "N/A USB" plug an unplug a few times and it works.
**already solved this first minor issue, apparently the phone has to be unlocked to register that the usb is plugged in now. wasnt like this in GB, minor inconvenience, but not a big issue.
once i get it connected it will register, and start playing.
then, while playing, it will randomly go silent for a second, then continue. will play at least one song all the way through while periodically going silent, then start the next, and after about 20 to 40 seconds, will just jump to a random song, play about 30 seconds of it, and jump again, rinse, wash, repeat. annoying.
When going through the menu's on the radio, its very slow. it takes about 10 seconds to load each folder name(one folder per line, 3 lines show on the screen at a time.)
Some albums will play fine for the most part, maybe just a couple of silent moments (we'll call it skipping.)
some albums are unplayable.
While listening to the music on the headphone jack, it works fine. no issues at all. only issue is that after plugging it into the usb, the phone itself no longer has saved where i stopped playing music previously through the headphones. always did before.
Probably related is the issues with the gallery. after being plugged into the usb and then disconnected, the gallery takes forever to load and be useable. cant access pictures or videos on the sd card for at least 30min to an hour. can take new pics and view them with no problem, but cant see the old ones. i can go through root explorer and access the pics on the sd card that way, but not the galler.
I have no need for a custom rom, i dont do enough fun stuff bc i dont have time. and the majority of what i use my phone for right now is music. and i cant use it for that bc of the usb issue. stock rom does everything i need it to at the moment.
What i have tried:
different cables.
I put the sd card into an old motorola droid i had thats still on GB and tried it on the car radio and it worked perfectly. no issues.
i did a factory reset to the sensation
i cleared the media app cache
did a soft reset.
deleted and completely loaded a fresh copy of the album that has given the most issue, changed nothing (was hoping that maybe that particular file was corrupt)
took the sd card out and reformatted it (the suggestion on the noob thread for slow sd card issues.)
tonight, i hooked it up to a completely different usb radio (dont know what brand, etc, it was) and it gave the same issues.
one difference was that after playing a song all the way through, it disconnected from the usb. and the phone showed that it was connected charge only, not disk drive.
this card is extremely slow on this phone, and i cant figure out why. been searching for over a week now.
i beg of you, help me before i break it. lol. i hate singing along to my favorite tunes at the top of my lungs in my car, and then the song cut off and having to hear how awful i sound.

While I am not sure how to help you with your USB music issues, I can help you get back to ginger bread if you like once you have s-off on your phone you could simply flash the firmware and ruu of your choice to have a stock ginger bread sense rom but, before we try that have you tried to clear the data from the gallery apk to see if it makes a difference? Also do you have USB debugging enabled? It sounds like your rom is having issues with mounting the sdcard efficiently. Do you have any apps that maybe trying to access the sdcard while it is unmounted, thus causing an issue?

I would suggest a simple solution of ruu... It installs fresh copy if ics.. But at the cost of losing phone data... It won't touch the sdcard though...

just cleared the gallery cache. USB debugging is not enabled, I enabled it for a couple days and it didn't make any difference.
no apps installed that should have any effect on sd card. running on bare min right now, less crap I'll have to reload after continuously resetting and deleting.
will save going back to gb as the last resort. would really like to enjoy ics, just this one issue I'm having.

will prob try this soon, at least before reverting back to gb.
one more thing I forgot to put in the first post:
the sd card is not encrypted as far as I know. and the encrypted sd card option is not selected in the storage menu. not sure if this has any bearing on anything, just thought I'd post it up just in case.
Well at this point a ruu would be the vest man for the job. Do you need a link to one or do you have one? If you need what's your network?

guess i will be needing a link please.
was hoping to be able to avoid doing anything additional like that.
seems im the only one having this kind of issue though, cant find anybody else with it.
oh well, guess thats how it goes.

http://shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Pyramid OK here is a link to all the ruus I can find for the htc sensation. And here http://shipped-roms.com/download.ph...0U_11.23.3504.07_M2_release_256085_signed.zip
Is the most up to date tmobus ruu that I can see. Make a backup of everything you can like text messages, ect. Anything on your sdcard will be safe. Once you ha e done that plug your phone Into the PC/laptop and run the ruu. It will flash the phone with the stock tmobus ics rom. And hopefully fix your issues good luck
Usual disclaimers apply, if you phone explodes, starts a revolution, Marrys a dog or leaves you late for work its on your head what you flash onto your phone is your call.

I don't have unlimited data, so I prefer using Play Music's download feature to store music to my phone so I can listen to it on the go without using up my data. Specifically, I have a class 10 32GB micro SD card that I have the app use for the storage.
The problem is, every time I download songs, when I play them, they're all messed up. They frequently have clipping, distortion, etc., and it's borderline unlistenable. And it's not just a few songs, it's every single one. Basically, they sound like they would if you were to stream them and happened to be on a pretty poor connection. But they're not being streamed...
I've tried clearing the cache and data on the app, I've uninstalled and reinstalled and redownloaded the songs, and the issue persists.
Any fix for this? Thanks in advance.
As a small "update", I decided to try a little test, to see if perhaps my memory card was the problem. I downloaded some songs to the card, listened to them to hear them mess up (they did), then I cleared all my downloaded music and switched the storage space to my phone's internal memory, downloaded songs again and listened to them to see if they'd mess up, and once again, they did. So whatever the problem is, it doesn't seem like it has to do with the memory card.
I don't know what else to do, though... My home Internet is fine and works well with all my other devices, so I don't think it's a matter of having a bad connection for downloading. This is so frustrating, and I don't know what else to do...
Edit: Another update... In my searches for info, I saw someone mention something about having issues with music when headphones are plugged into the jack. So I tried downloading some songs and playing them on my phone's speaker, sans anything plugged into the jack, and lo and behold, I don't hear any issues with the music. That's extremely bizarre... There has to be a fix for this, right? Maybe? I hope...?
