[Q] gingerbread 2.3.3 calendar issue
before updating to 2.3.3 I was able to click on either a address link or phone number in the calendar and it would open google maps or the keypad.
after updating the address and phone number link it opens "Verify the phone number"
is there a way to fix this?

HTC Sync problem now...
I am rooted and have loaded the rooted 2.3.3 rom, and flashed the radio/ril.
When trying to sync my calendar & contacts with HTC Sync, it connects but won't sync. I get "Your device does not have enough free memory."
I have 1.7gb free on sdcard, and .92gb free on phone. ALL I have checked is People & Calendar. Any ideas???
I was able to sync right after downgrading with AHK, but not now after flashing the latest rooted stock rom.
I need my contacts & calendar... on my phone... and like being able to use sync on my desktop, because Outlook has some calendar options that aren't on the phone calendar.

Yes. First I clicked "check for update" on sync, and it said "up to date". So I uninstalled, and noticed the version # on the HTC site was later than what I had. But still no worky... It connects and shows my device, when I click sync now, the bar goes to the end then says not enough mem.
I ended up exporting my contacts to a vCard file and putting on my sdCard and loading them that way.
Still wish sync would work though...

Stock rom root beore update or update then root?
I'm a noob and this question may have been asked but not finding it if it has. I have a stock htc inspire with 2.2.1 and baseband ver. 12.39a60.19u_26.06.06.30_M. I want to update it to the new 2.3.3 GB but not sure if I need to root and down grade radio first then update or do the update and then root it. I have been reading and I believe its safe to go a head and update then root and install a custom rom or a rooted stock rom with alot of bloat ware removed. I just want to make sure before doing anything cause really not sure if you need to down grade radio first then root or update then down grade radio if you have to. Plus it does make sense to update then root seeing you loose root once updated but really not sure if it matters. Just want to be able to root once I update to 2.3.3. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Root first since it'll wipe out whatever you've got on the phone anyway. If you do the update, then you've just added an additional unneeded step.
The ace hack kit will work with either version so don't worry about that.

So root the stock 2.2.1 then put the rooted 2.3.3 rom on it and it will down grade the radio and be rooted to the 2.3.3.
Thanks

I've heard about this tool but I've never used it. Seems a bit complicated in that you have to flash stuff before flashing rom, and after. Also once you run the program everything is gone completely. I like having control using root explorer to either move or delete the files that way if something does go wrong I just add it back onto my phone and change the permissions. Maybe it's just a lack of knowledge.

Hi,
It's a lot easier than it seems, and speeds the installation process up.
Perhaps , it's not for everyone, but the [OP] stated removing bloatware ,which it does in seconds.
It takes a while to configure the initial user text file, but once you have done it, you don't ever have to do it again.
And you only have to run it once after flashing the ROM.
It takes 30 seconds to run.

Hi,
Have a look at what is included in a basic ROM,by looking at THIS USER TEXT FILE.
You will also see guide alongside it showing what each one does.
Make sure you have notepad++(google it).
I have tried all I can but still can do the bloatware removal. I have rooted, enabled SU and I have installed root explorer but I don't know what to do now. The root explorer gives make access to the ROM but I don't know what to remove and how to remove it.

First of all you need to root your phone even If you don't want to flash any custom rom. The reason is you want to remove some of the system applications. After rooting you can use titanium backup to remove these app. But make sure you have nandroid backup if anything goes wrong.

The application installer removed it from the phone because i saw the data going down, but i still have the icons in my programlist. Is there any way to remove them, without booting a hole new rom. As you can read im still a newbee here.
Btw titanium backup says im succesfully rooted. Yay, Hope someone knows a answer.

Congrats and welcome to XDA. I would never go back to anything other than an Android OS. It is so much more customizable than anything else out there. I would say read through the forums and see what you can do and what you can tweak. Also, if you get bored you can try flashing different ROMS and see what you like best.
I was already member of xda years before in the time of qtek 2020i. (guus they called it then xda or mda. But unfortunally i lost my account from then, so had to make a new one. Otherwise i was not a newbee . For now i still like the stock ROM of htc. (stable and all functions work. Unlike the bèta verions of ics)

Hi all,
I'm an inspire noob running exist's 4.0.3 asopX version 26 and he recently said that he was going to update us to 4.0.4 for version 27. My question is can I back up what i have to the sd card, do a reset, then recover everything using 4.0.4? Or will i need to do a wipe and manually put stuff back on?
thanks
As Long as the recovery you are using is compatible with your backup, then you can restore it with any Rom you are running. Backups from CWM are not always compatible with 4EXT recovery and vice versa

I don't think glevitan understood your question correctly, or maybe I don't. I took it you want to back up your apps and such, not the ROM version itself. And to restore everything back on the 4.0.4 version. This has nothing to do with clockwork or 4EXT recovery.
If he releases the 4.0.4 ROM as an update and does not require a full wipe then just install it over top of the 4.0.3 ROM. Most of the time the DEV requires a full wipe though.
Usually it is best to do a full wipe and restore user data with a backup app like Titanium Backup. But you only want to backup and restore user apps. Restoring system data can really mess your ROM up severely. Google contacts will resync when signed in.

haha Now that I see your reply I guess that I didn't get what he was asking...well, he will come back and get what he wants or will ask again...
I will say, no matter how inconsequential it seems, DO. NOT. RESTORE. SYSTEM. DATA. between major android versions. Let me refine that. I back up my playlists using Titanium Backup. I figured this was an insignificant thing and restored it when I moved from CoreDroid to aospX. Firstly, it didn't restore my playlists; secondly, I had to factory reset the phone < 1 day later.
That said, I WILL be restoring playlists and contacts going from AR26 -> AR27. I'll report either here or in the dev thread if it causes problems, but I have 6 g(mail | apps) accounts plus my FB account, and it takes me a considerable amount of time to get the duplicates regrouped.
Hope I helped. BTW, the free version of TiBU is pretty good, you just have to confirm every install. To me, it was worth it to get the pay version so that I could restore all my apps without confirming every one (right now I have 45-50, that's a lot of confirmations). It's also nice to be able to back out of a buggy new version of an app, or to be able to go back if you don't like the new version (I'm looking at you, FB.)
oh i see now. looks like i really lucked out cuz i flashed AR27 and his 4.0.4 then did a recovery. I thought it was a bit odd that it still said 4.0.3 so I came back here. Doh! okie dokie. I'm redoing a wipe and clean install and I'll just push all of my apps back from my google account.
Thanks for all the pointers about Tia Backup

You should have placed this in the ICS Q/A thread. Do NOT use the development thread for questions. thats why the restriction is in place, so people learn the ropes a bit before they are allowed in there. I would redownload and do a full wipe and reflash. And try to record your mms BEFORE you put all your apps and stuff back on there. Need a clean environment before you can dig deeper into this. Only thing you should put on after installing is inspiremod before doing your mms test. Id love to help test with ya, but i always remove the default mms apk from my phone :/
OK. Now I know. Which messaging app do you use?

PS search out the post in general about this, you could have left your phone rooted, however if you made ANY change to the OS it won't take the update. I have instructions for how to make a backup and get your phone updated and back to the way it was.
That said yes 2.3.4 is buggy.

2.3.4 is a total mess. You lose all your google related data connections and for me, trying it 3 times, I lose 3G data. So in a total..... DO NOT ota to 2.3.4, I have gone back to 2.3.3 and do not plan on updating unless its fixed... which I do not believe VZ will even mess with it, they will probably use this issue as a means of getting you to upgrade your phone....VZ sucks sweaty monkey nuts.
