[Q] Unlocking languages? - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello
Is there a way to unhide/unlock the extra languages in the settings for my Xoom?
I bought a Wifi only one shipped from USA, and it seems to only have a few languages.
It's running the latest 3.2 Team Tiamat rom, which has the other languages in there, but I can only change them with a 3rd party app
Basically I want them accessible via the settings, and in turn, easily changeable via a widget button on the screen
Basically hot swapping languages

Nobody seems to have a solution for this?

[Q] Import dictionary into stock keyboard

I always used swiftkey on my N1. Now I have a Nexus S and I really like the stock keyboard, but there is no Dutch dictionary on the Nexus S.
Is it possible to import a custon(Dutch) dictionary into the stock keyboard? That would be really nice
You could try this package I created from CyanogenMOD 7 for Nexus S. It can however be installed on ModacoROM as I have and probably also stock nexus s.
It has the dutch keyboard/autocorrect hidden under 'Italian'. I didn't know how to get it under its own language. So I abused the Italian language for that.
I'm not sure if you need root either to install, anyway good luck with it.
If you have successfully installed it, you'll get another Android keyboard in your language and keyboard menu. Select the languages you want and Italian for the dutch dictionary. Please be aware you need to set them in both settings when you click "Input Languages" (it asks you to complete action using).
Should be fairly safe, you can remove it under manage applications and then choosing "Android keyboard". The stock keyboard that ships with the device itself and can't be removed afaik.
good luck.

Is it possible to add custom keyboard languages (that are defined in the SDK) without root?
I think you would need to build/compile it from AOSP. What I'm doing is probably quick and dirty but it works (I'm still new to this android development). Think you need root though to install this.
If you like I could try and make another APK with Swedish keyboard/autocorrect hidden under the Italian language.

That would be awesome!
Oke. Here is the Swedish APK. Select Italian 2 times when you try to select the input languages (for each action).
Might need a reboot to have it work, didn't need it here. Also I'm on a rooted nexus s and haven't tested it without root.
I'v tried removing it from application management, which works. After that you are back to the stock keyboard. Looks safe so far
have fun..
note: I used adb install LatinIME.apk to install this.

Thanks, I've tried but can't get it to work. What do you mean with: Select Italian 2 times when you try to select the input languages (for each action)?
EDIT: Okay, understood. Still doesn't work. Unrooted also.
Hmm.. So it installs and you get another android keyboard in your settings menu right?
What might help is installing another keyboard (free from market). set that as default (select it as input method in browser for instance). go to settings and select the recently installed android keyboard i gave you. deselect all languages in the input languages menu (once for each action popup). close settings, open it up again. select english and italian in input languages (once for each action popup) and close settings.
now open text messaging or anything else that uses the keyboard. select the android keyboard as input method. hold the spacebar and select italian. it should now give you swedish predictions.
i'v seen it here also that it at times didn't give me dutch, but after redoing all the settings it fixed it.
just make sure you have enabled the keyboard in the settings menu and set the settings for it like i said. if it doesn't work i don't know.
Is there any other way to get, for example, the Dutch dictionary in the Gingerbread keyboard, without having to abuse one of the existing languages? Can't you just add additional languages?
I'm using a Nexus S, and I heard that there are versions of the phone that download additional keyboards during the initial setup, based on the location of the phone (network, country, ...), if they have an internet connection available, see for example this screenshot: h~t~t~p~:~/~/~plixi~.~com~/~p~/~67798426 (can't post a link, so just delete all ~ chars).
I'm also wondering if this method won't cause problems when you get an OTA upgrade (e.g. to 2.3.3). Will you need to do it all over again? :-s
Thanks!
Has there been any progress on this? I don't know why android doesn't just include all languages possible. If an iPhone can do it, surely our phone should!
I heard that Android 2.3.3 adds support for a lot more languages, also on the US/UK Nexus S, including Dutch ...

[Q] RTL lanuages input (arabic, hebrew etc) in android keyborad on rooted Stock Rom

I've been searching the internet for 2 days straight now with on luck, I am trying to get Arabic support in the native android keyboard on my Nexus s (just like CyanogenMod rom), I manage to get Arabic text rendered correctly in the browser and other IM apps though by installing these fonts ardoid.com/?p=219 , but still no Arabic input.
I don't want ugly looking 3rd party keyboard, is it possible to get Arabic input support in the native android keyboard on rooted Stock Rom ?

I would recommend you to get Swift Key from Market

[Q] Multi-language keyboard without toggle?

Hi -
I use Swiftkey on a regular basis as that was always the only keyboard that could keep up with the way I type, however since they got rid of the "rapid typing" feature with version 4.0 I've been looking for other options.
I use two languages interchangeably (english and spanish) and have always liked how Swiftkey allowed me to type in either language without having to toggle to that particular language, either through a dedicated key (EN or SP) or by sliding my thumb across the space bar, both of which I find annoying. But I haven't been able to find another keyboard that let's me use either language "on the fly" - is there a decent one out there? I feel like I've tried them all.
Samsung Galaxy S4 on AT&T - stock everything.

Changing Language on 3ds

Hi I would like to ask how to change the language of a Japanese 3ds. It was already hacked (B9S no card) and it is region free. But because it is a Japanese 3ds, the home menu and system apps are in japanese. Is it there a way that will not lose the hack? Also is there is a way to do without reinstalling a firmware like language pack or something?
