Hello,
Later, I tried to root my phone with a crappy script.
I didn't worked and I was stuck at the Google screen.
So I tried to flash the boot.img which comes with CyanogenMod but the result was the same.
Then, I tried ti install a Nexus S stock ROM that I found on this forum and now my screen don't work anymore.
I just have some LEDs on at the bottom on the phone.
I still have access to fastboot wia the terminal.
Thank you.
What model phone do you have, and what stock image did you flash?
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk
I have an European Nexus S (SFR Vodafone).
The ROM I tried to flash is named Stock-GRH78-Unsigned and I downloaded it from this forum.
I'll post the link if I manage to find it.
The ROM comes from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1062777
You flashed the samoled version on yours, which is slcd. Different screens, different and incompatible software. I saw your comment in the other thread. What you'll have to do is figure out how to flash the proper i9023 model software. Hopefully someone more familiar with the process can lend a hand.

Yes, would be nice to have something to flash from fastboot.
Flash the rom in my signature via cwm recovery.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
I'd love it was so simple.
Even in recovery, the scree, stay black so I don't know if I'm really in recovery mod.
Do you think I can use this tool ? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=974621
If not, I'd like to have some screenshots of the ClockWorkMod Recovery 4.0.0.2 so I can use it even if I don't see anything on the screen.
I just discovered I have ADB access so ClockWorkMod seems to be working.
Can I flash your ROM using ADB?
When I try to flash your rom (rentaric) using fastbot, I get the following errors:
archive does not contain 'android-info.txt'
archive does not contain 'android-product.txt'
error: update package has no android-info.txt or android-product.txt
Thanks.
Nope. Flashing via Odin is easiest if display isn't working imho.

Thanks.
Make sure you know what you're doing before you start this time. ODIN is a powerful tool..you can find it in the development forum.

I've downloaded ODIN and CyanogenMod but I've never used ODIN before so I don't know how to flash CyanogenMod with it.

As uansari1 said, Odin is kind of a "last resort" tool for me. It's poweful and gets the job done even w/o a working screen.
Basically what you do is:
download Odin and the files needed for YOUR device
hold vol up and vol down, then plug in the usb cable while still holding both buttons (this starts download mode)
start Odin
there should be a yellow field top left with a port number in it
make sure everything except Auto reboot and F. reset time is UNchecked
extract the zip files you got from samfirmware
apply bootloader to bootloader
apply pda to pda
apply modem to phone
leave csc empty
hit start
wait (2-3mins), phone will reboot during that period, when the yellow field changes color and says "pass" it is done.
Are the files needed in the Drivers column on samfirmware?
If not where do I download them?
Thanks.

They have given you enough information. Do some reading. Research what you are about to do so you don't come across problems like what you are dealing with now.
Good luck.

I do not need to use the PIT file?
Nope, just apply Bootloader, PDA and Phone. Remember to double check which settings are checked/unchecked.

Is there a ODIN file for the Rogers captivate froyo 2.2? Is it possible to flash roms without the ODIN file?
Do I just flash the JF6 Stock [email protected] Kernel anyways? I'm kind of stuck right now, this is my first attempt to flash and I've already hit a roadblock can anyone help please.
Read this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905042
I downloaded that file, but couldn't figure out what to do afterwards. I watched the mobile tech videos and it seemed that he was able to just click on the file and open the odin, while when I try to open it says "can't find application to open" after I extract it. Also I don't understand why I have to flash back to stock when I'm already at stock.

First download odin from this thread,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=884364
Open it first and then point it to your rom image that you would like to use, you don't extract the file you have, it's ready to use as downloaded.
Please watch the videos again because you don't understand it yet and you're well on your way to a solid brick.
BTW using CWM with a .zip is easier then Odin IMHO, and can be done completely from your phone, no computer needed, it will also let you know if you have the three button recovery ( very important if something goes wrong ).
Read, read and read some more. Flashing a rom is not hard but it does have to be done correctly. If you want an almost guaranteed result you'll do the homework and learn something. I've only been here a while and rarely do I see a question that hasn't been answered 50 times already, your answers are here, go look for them and you'll pick up other things you will need to know when you decide to be a bit more adventurous with setting your phone up JUST like you want it.
Thanks for the information, it looks like I got lots of work to do.. The link you sent me has a broken Odin link on the other side, do you have a mirror or some sort so I can get the file? Also my final question is that since I have a Rogers Captivate I need to JL1 file not a J16 right? I've looked everywhere but couldn't find an answer to this... Thank you.

do you want to install a custom rom?? like phoenix or cog? if you are already rooted, just install clockwork mod and flash it to phone... then reboot into recovery and choose install zip from sd card... then select 'choose zip from sdcard'. then find the zip of the rom you want to install. I'm a rogers user and I've flashed all the latest roms (currently using andromeda 2.0). Never needed odin.
oh I see thanks, I've tried flashing Cognition via ROM manager with no success. I had Cognition on my SD card, installed and flashed the Clockwork mod and then selected "install ROM from SD card". From their it makes me select my ROM and then after I do it takes me to recovery mode. From here I select Reinstall packages and it says something like "Can't verify file" in red writing and aborts installation. I've always thought that maybe since I skip the whole "flashing ODIN" step that's why it's not working but obviously that's not the case. Do you know why it's not working for me? Thanks for the help.
are you running rogers 2.2 update? it has 3e recovery and will not allow zips to be flashed.
if that's the case, you will need odin3 from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=821625
then put a new kernel in the PDA section. I used the tar file listed in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=870760
then with your phone powered off, sim card and memory cards out (put back cover on so the battery doesn't fall out) hold 2 volume buttons and plug in usb... should go to download mode. then hit start.
boot up will take a bit while voodoo formats ext4 on your files. after that, you can go into recovery mode and flash zips from sd card

ps: would I have to to flash the stock Kernel/modem if I flashed back to stock?

when you flashed cog it would have put a new kernel on there. when you flash a different rom they come packaged with one the dev chooses. You can switch the kernel after with sgs kernel flasher or cwm

What I tried to do last was the all in one update but I think im missing something between the one I have now and the one prior that is causing the issue.
Here is EP4D factory.

or you could always go to factory EE4 and take update.

flash that in ODIN and let it fully boot, then reboot into recovery and flash your desired EP4P ROM.
simple as that :]
If you have Voodoo active (have EXT4 partitions), then flash something with ODIN from the links that Blue provided, and make sure to use the PIT file as well. Using the PIT file will make sure your partitions are back to the correct stock settings.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

You install that using odin. Its a windows program. Download Odin. Download the file from the link you have. Download the pit file. Download droid charge drivers for windows.
Click the install instruction in my signature for a more detailed set. Thank chadness for it. It is a dated but once you learn it you will know what to change to use the updated stuff. Reading this post should answer a bunch of questions you will have after reading my abbreviated instructions.
Install drivers
Run odin
Put phone in download mode.
Connect phone via the usb cable it came with to the computer. USE a back usb port that's directly connected to the mother board. Odin display will change, text reading "com:something: with yellow background.
click the PIT button and navigate to that PIT file you downloaded.
click the PDA button and navigate to the ODIN EP4D stock rom you downloaded.
click Start, wait for it to finish.
let it reboot. You are now full stock/factory set.

The one in the XDA link I posted also flashes the radio (I've used it several times). Maybe just a little extra bloat from Sammy on the other one?
I'd say use the one from sammobile first, of course, I'm just curious if there's a real difference.

Yup. I don't bother with the battery though, or the usb plug in, I just restart the phone by holding the power button > 10 secs, and when it vibrates quickly hold the volume buttons, and it goes into download confirm mode. Then i plug in the usb and press up to confirm, and presto.
ok so i tried reflashing the radio and that didn't work. I'm probably messing something up. Heres what I'm doing for you guys to let me know what I'm doing wrong.
I opened ODIN and the only thing check marked is Auto Reboot.
After that I opened the the stock tar file (SGH-I727-UCKJ2-k0nane.tar) under PDA then I started the reboot. That got everything back to normal besides alot of apps force closing to include not being able to make calls. After that I flashed the HOME_SGH-I727user_CL626051_REV02.tar.md5 file under PDA for the radio. I'm a super noob so can someone break it down Barney style for me PLEASE? You guys are awesome by the way!!!
I still think the fc's are a radio issue. Flash this first, method 3:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1611796
Both of these include the radio, but vary in size. The first one is 250mb while the second is 315:
This one is a system dump from an xda member:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1349207&highlight=uckj2
This one is the complete firmware image from samsung, but you have to sign up to download:
http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&t=1&o=1&m=SGH-I727&r=5
When I open up ODIN do I flash everything through PDA one at a time? What are the other options for i.e. bootloader, phone, csc?
U need to flash cwm through odin:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1340526
Then you have to flash the first link i posted through cwm. As for the second and third, they are the same thing. You pick, based on the descriptions i used. The second one you flash through cwm, the third one is an ODIN flash.
doesn't it have to be a .tar file through ODIN?
It is a tar, flash the clockwork mod file u downloaded. It may be zipped, you might have to extract it
If it prompts you for a password when unzipping the downloaded file for the stock firmware, try sampro.pl
EDIT: It will likely have a file extension of .tar.md5. This is fine. Just put it in the pda slot. Do not put anything in any other slot. DO NOT CHECK REPARTITION. Only Auto-Reboot should be checked.

how to unroot samsung galaxay tab 2 7.0 P3113 straight up without any guessing
but guess what i am not the one to be mad at or responsible if anything happens to your device
backup your data of anything
lol had to put that
making this because i was up for like almost 3 hours trying to figure out how to get this done.
first you need 3 files
the latest Jelly Bean stock
http://www.hotfile.com/dl/188869946/30f5c4d/P3113UECLK7_P3113XACCLK7_XAC.zip.html
the odin with root

and
Triangle Away this is where i got the app from
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494114
i put the files in order of size so you can download the files as you go
for extra guidance watch
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WzydHUG7XZE
its for s3 but the concept is the exact same
I started from a stock rooted rom i backed up thats what the Triangle Away fourm said to do
Ok while rooted go install Triangle Away once installed boot in to download mode. By turning off the device and holding (Power + Vol down button).
when in download mode press up to enter it this is so you can check your flash / binary count. Once you found out boot restart by (Power + Vol up button) when fully booted
go into Triangle Away before you click reset counter make sure its the same number you saw in the download mode once matched then click the button.
Next after the stock firmware is downloaded extract the file then go back into download mode and press Vol up button to enter it connect device to Odin dont touch or look at anything just click on the left where it says pda click on the md5 file that was extracted from download then click start. Dont touch or look at device until its done because you can possible brick it while in download mode
After flashing let it reboot then skip threw set up to see if superuser is still there. if so (like mine) install Triangle Away app again check the counter. (should be on zero) now go back to download mode and reflash the stock md5 again
and now should be fully stock with no root and no binary count. Take it back to store!! lol or just enjoy stock for new OTA.

I think I found a way
The thread is a month old, so please forgive the necromancy. I haven't noted it elsewhere, so I post in hopes it will help somebody else out.
I found that this works if you flashed via CF-Auto-Root-espressowifi. In triangle away, I reset the counter. Rebooted and clicked "system modified workaround". Rebooted again. Immediately checked the status and after mauling that matter over a bit, it decided "Official" and let me update. (Or, rather, told me I was up to date) Note: probably a good idea to disable the system modified workaround before upgrading. As of yet, it still says "Offical" after disabling modified workaround & reboot, but from what I've read, it will eventually change it's mind. Hence, using this, I imagine you should be able to keep root and use Triangle Away to check for updates every so often. Not stock flashing required.
If you find these instuctions helpful, pay for the App - he deserves it.

Greetings,
My name is Tim and I'm looking for some assistance with getting CM 10.1.3 up and running on my GS3 (d2vzw / SCH-i535). I'm not a complete noob, as I managed to successfully flash CM to my Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, and my Droid X2 after countless hours of reading through XDA forum posts for each of the devices, however...I'm still pretty new to a lot of this stuff as I usually don't mess with it once I get CM up and running, and struggle with command prompts still, so I apologize for any/all idiocy posted herein.
I am using the instructions found on the CM site under the d2vzw device (I'd link you but it doesn't appear as though I'm allowed to), and after reading that I don't need to root my device to install CM, I'd prefer to stick with this method (I'm also uncomfortable using Odin or any other such software, as I've heard bad things and already managed to soft brick my GS3 once with it.)
I've got all the appropriate files listed at the above page, but I'm confused with several aspects of the "official" install instructions, and would like some clarification, if possible. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
1) USB drivers: I installed the Samsung drivers, but when I ran heimdall print-pit in CMD, it failed giving me an error 12 (can't remember what, specifically, but apparently it has to do with USB drivers). A bit of Google-ing, and I was able to determine that Samsung drivers = bad. Okay, I can deal with that and have uninstalled them. However, does that mean I need to NOT let Windows 7 Update auto install drivers? Further, do I need to use the zadig app to install drivers before I can use Heimdall appropriately? I ask because after I uninstalled the Samsung drivers and rebooted, I tried to flash but it failed.
2) Wording of CMD commands confuses me. Heimdall flash --ABOOT aboot.mbn - okay, I get that I'm typing "heimdall flash" as the preface, but the actual aboot.mbn file is within a .tar file...so do I just flash to the location of the actual tar file? Or do I extract it with 7zip (as I initially tried) and try to flash to the location of the actual aboot.mbn file? Further, --ABOOT doesn't show up on the list of viable options within CMD, which confuses me (is it part of the command, or is it a place holder for some command I'm not understanding).
3) Same question for the other CMD commands.
I've looked around on XDA, the Heimdall site, and elsewhere for more detailed "official" install guides, but they all seem to either involve Odin or rooting, and as I mentioned I want nothing to do with either of them, if possible.
Thank you kindly for your time.
Sure you can do all that, but there are some easy one click root apps for the gs3. Then install cwm recovery. Then flash CM and GAPPs.
Just search the forum and you should be able to find the thread.
Good luck!!

The only "one-click app" I know of is Framaroot which does not work on the VZW varient of the GS3. So what app are u referring to?

I was not referring to an apk on the phone, meant pc app.
I have not personally used this, but looks like it will do the trick.

I thought I downloaded that before and it ended up being a jumble of files...but I just downloaded it now and it looks promising. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll give it a try tomorrow!

If you want just go try out the cyanogenmod installer from the play store. It should root, unlock, and install for you. Just follow the instructions in the app.

Well, I just tried using the "casual" root one-click thing.
I successfully rooted, but it took ~10 minutes on the flashing of aboot. It claimed to be done, but when I tried to flash CWM it rebooted into the "unauthorized software, contact verizon" screen.
Any ideas? This makes me sad. I don't know why this is so much more difficult than my other devices.
-e- I can still get into download mode, but when I try to go into recovery it just loops back to the main samsung screen with the custom icon and then hops into the verizon unauthorized stuff. Also, when I plug it in to charge it just vibrates once every ~5 seconds without doing much else.
Additionally, I still don't know which USB drivers I want for doing all of this. I'm relying on the ones Windows 7 auto-installs currently, if that helps with troubleshooting. Thank you in advance, again.

you just didn't unlock your bootloader that's all. Flash stock (or stock recovery) using Odin. Then root using the same method above. When rooted unlock your bootloader using EZunlock1.2. Its an app that runs on your phone. Then flash recovery. Done.
Edit: at this point it may be easier to just flash a prerooted stock ROM using Odin.
