[How] to unroot samsung galaxay tab 2 7.0 P3113 Enjoy :) - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

how to unroot samsung galaxay tab 2 7.0 P3113 straight up without any guessing
but guess what i am not the one to be mad at or responsible if anything happens to your device
backup your data of anything
lol had to put that
making this because i was up for like almost 3 hours trying to figure out how to get this done.
first you need 3 files
the latest Jelly Bean stock
http://www.hotfile.com/dl/188869946/30f5c4d/P3113UECLK7_P3113XACCLK7_XAC.zip.html
the odin with root
http://download.chainfire.eu/256/CF...fi-espressowifiue-gtp3113.zip?retrieve_file=1
and
Triangle Away this is where i got the app from
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494114
i put the files in order of size so you can download the files as you go
for extra guidance watch
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WzydHUG7XZE
its for s3 but the concept is the exact same
I started from a stock rooted rom i backed up thats what the Triangle Away fourm said to do
Ok while rooted go install Triangle Away once installed boot in to download mode. By turning off the device and holding (Power + Vol down button).
when in download mode press up to enter it this is so you can check your flash / binary count. Once you found out boot restart by (Power + Vol up button) when fully booted
go into Triangle Away before you click reset counter make sure its the same number you saw in the download mode once matched then click the button.
Next after the stock firmware is downloaded extract the file then go back into download mode and press Vol up button to enter it connect device to Odin dont touch or look at anything just click on the left where it says pda click on the md5 file that was extracted from download then click start. Dont touch or look at device until its done because you can possible brick it while in download mode
After flashing let it reboot then skip threw set up to see if superuser is still there. if so (like mine) install Triangle Away app again check the counter. (should be on zero) now go back to download mode and reflash the stock md5 again
and now should be fully stock with no root and no binary count. Take it back to store!! lol or just enjoy stock for new OTA.

#1 this is for the Canadian version of the tab 2. you need to state that.
#2 couldn't you have uploaded this to somewhere else other than hotfile?

First of all, thank you for posting this, wealthy23!
Second, I see fix-this! said this is Canadian version of stock ROM. Is this different from the US version? If so, what's the difference and where I can find the US stock ROM?

Thanks but
I am not sure what he is talking about but it worked on my tab 2 which is US version and
also hot file is used because I didn't upload it I got link from official Samsung site used it so you won't have to sign up for a Samsung account just to get the link and wanted the file to be as pure from source as possible especially when using Odin to flash

I didnt mean to be rude but the file you uploaded is for the canadian version. I double checked on google with the build number. Theres also a US version but with a slightly different extension. Im not at home or i would upload it.

I think I found a way
The thread is a month old, so please forgive the necromancy. I haven't noted it elsewhere, so I post in hopes it will help somebody else out.
I found that this works if you flashed via CF-Auto-Root-espressowifi. In triangle away, I reset the counter. Rebooted and clicked "system modified workaround". Rebooted again. Immediately checked the status and after mauling that matter over a bit, it decided "Official" and let me update. (Or, rather, told me I was up to date) Note: probably a good idea to disable the system modified workaround before upgrading. As of yet, it still says "Offical" after disabling modified workaround & reboot, but from what I've read, it will eventually change it's mind. Hence, using this, I imagine you should be able to keep root and use Triangle Away to check for updates every so often. Not stock flashing required.
If you find these instuctions helpful, pay for the App - he deserves it.

Question if I boot into clockworkmod recovery and do a factory reset, wipe cache portions, & dalvik cache then boot into download mode and flash the stock rom will I still be rooted?

Phone did not upgrade to ICS properly

First of all I apologize if this has been brought up before in other posts. I am in a mixture of frustration and panic right now because I tried upgrading to ICS on my Rogers SGS2 LTE, and it failed.
Using Kies, I followed the prompts, and for whatever reason it didn't finish. Now when I boot up the phone, it keeps telling me to use the recovery mode option in Kies. However, if I do try to use recovery mode, it always times out and tells me I may need to contact a Samsung service center. The computer has no problem communicating with the phone, AFAIK.
Basically, I'm here to ask what options I have. Currently, i'm trying to do this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342348 , but because the stock TAR is taking a long time to download, I'm asking if I have any other options. I would like to keep the data on my phone, but if I have to wipe it to return it to normal I'm willing to do that.
Please help.
Reboot and try again

Are you rooted? Are you running the stock recovery that came on the phone? If your rooted and have apps that are froze or your running a modded recovery like cwm you must flash back to stock or kies will not ever work
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
I've tried rebooting the computer I was using, and I've also tried another computer with no luck. I got the latest Kies on the other computer, connected the phone with no problem, and tried recovery mode on THAT 2nd computer, but it didn't work because it didn't recognize my recovery code that the first computer gave me.

I *think* I was rooted. I remember doing something a long time ago involving odin. I never installed Cyanogenmod or any other 3rd party roms.
I had Superuser under my apps, if that helps.
I wish I could reply sooner but this board is making me wait 5 mins between posts. Sorry. It's like I'm in the emergency room with a gunshot wound and I'm waiting for the doctor to finish his smoke break, then his coffee break, then washroom break, jesus
by CWM, I think you're asking about Clockwordmod? If so, yes, I had that on my phone. Does this mean I can't use the steps in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342348 to fix my phone now? Or can I still proceed.
If you have superuser then most likely you are rooted and since you have clockworkmod especially then kies is not gonna update your phone. Your on Rodgers so you need to find the stock firmware and flash it. I'm on att or I could link you to one that would work. I got my stock firmware from Samsung website. Try going to sammobile and see if you can find the stock firmware for your phone. I'm sure since its Samsung they should have Rodgers firmware to. Download the stock firmware and flash it in Odin onto to your phone and then kies should work. If you can't find the stock firmware at sammobile then look for the stock firmware here on xda I'm sure someone on Rodgers has it....
Edit. The link up there to Odin back to stock should work. Just download the file and follow the steps in order and don't leave one out. There are no shortcuts when it comes to flashing a phone or it could be rendered useless for anything more than a paperweight. Konane is real good and would not lead anyone wrong....

Just flashed it via Kies, had to use ODIN by flashing stock, Odin wouldn't work till I rebooted my computer, then once Kies updated, I had had a error ( com.Android.phone stopped) but I cleared data and cache in 3e, then everything worked.

I just wanted to post a follow-up. I followed the steps from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342348 and it fixed me phone. Best of all, I didn't lose anything.
I would still like to get ICS on my phone. I noticed on Sammobile's site that there is a firmware for 4.04 that was released recently. Would I somehow be able to use that, combined with Odin, to get ICS on my phone? In other words, follow all the steps in the aforementioned thread, except, use this newer firmware file? Sorry I realize this may sound like a dumb noob question, but I want to make sure I do things right.
Thanks for all the help btw.

If you're back to stock and on Rogers, you should be able to update using Kies.
The thing is, when Odin fixed my phone, it didn't remove Superuser, so doesn't that mean my phone isn't stock anymore? I was expecting Odin to basically reset my phone back to factory settings, but it seems to have just reverted it back to before I tried updating to ICS with kies.

If you go into 3e or cwm if you still have it, you should be able to clear cache and data, so after that Kies should recognize it and start the download

I haven't used the stock 3e that much always just flash cwm but I would suggest that you do a factory data reset to from the recovery if 3e gives that option I've never used it so I'm not sure. But if you are still on cwm recovery kies will not ever update your phone until you put everything back stock. You must have just flashed the kernel only. Flashing just the kernel does not wipe anything you need to flash the stock firmware from sammobile in Odin and that will do a full wipe and restore everything to stock

Sorry but what is 3e? The only place i see cwm mentioned is under the rom manager app, but when i launch it rom manager says i don't have a rooted device and super user can't be found. Weird thing is i see super user as an app on my phone.

Turn the phone off. Hold both volume up and volume down and hold the power button do not release the volume buttons yet. Pressing all 3 buttons when you first see the screen come on mine shows an att logo then release the power button only. The phone will then boot into either 3e stock recovery or cwm recovery

OK, I did what you said, and I see 3e and the option to wipe data/factory reset. So you're recommending I do this BEFORE i try to use Odin and the latest firmware for Sammobile?
Just out of curiosity, if I didn't do a reset before flashing using Odin, what would happen?

[Q] Not sure what to do next after rooting Galaxy Note 10.1, help unroot?

My device: Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 - 16GB
I'm pretty much very new to modding and everything but I did the rooting from this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1831152 I used the first method and once I rebooted my device it was freezing and every few seconds it would say "Unfortunately, S Note has stopped working". I restarted my device and the same thing kept happening. Next, I tried using the second method of rooting but nothing seemed to be working still, so I did a factory reset. Everything seems fine now but I think I just want to unroot eveything altogether. Is that possible?

Flash a stock Rom with Odin and don't root.
Sent from my GT-N8010 using Tapatalk 2
If everything's working fine now and it's rooted why do you want to get rid of root?
Also, as you used ODIN to flash cf-root you will need to run the triangle-away app to reset the flash counter before flashing a stock rom otherwise your flash counter will be more than the "0" it's supposed to be and you may have trouble if you need to return under warranty...

Well I'd actually would just want to get rid of the clockworkmod root because it increases binary count and doesn't let updates through, as least thats what I read.
You need to use triangle away to reset the flash counter. You can flash the stock recovery after to get stock recovery back but you won't be able to flash a new custom rom using this. You will retain root access though if you want to use TB or change system files....
If you have the cf-root though you can flash when the devs release the update.
You can also go to sammobile and download the update too to flash through ODIN though you will loose root after doing so and will have to have reset the flash counter 1st anyway...
I used the same method to root that you mentioned as the first try. What did after that was to download mobile odin (can be purchased on the play store) download my original firmware from sammobile. Use mobile odin to flash my original firmware, injecting rooting by using everroot in mobile odin.
So I end up on my original firmware rooted. No need to triangle away since still on stock recovery.

Yes but what you don't seem to understand is that the 1st flash you did into CWM raised the flash counter by 1.... If you return under warranty you may be refused and have to pay for it to be repaired fully...
Go into download mode to check, hold volume down and power together, when the samsung logo appears release the power button. When prompted press up volume and you should see if the flash counter reads 0 or 1... Hold down power button until tab turns off to get out of download mode...

Didn't realise he had used the cwm method to root. If that is the case, it may be in your best interest to reset the flash counter.
I used the pre injected stock firmware, so was no need for cwm.

[Q] I can only boot to Odin

Okay - I pulled a real stupid move today and need some help.. I'm somewhat of a flashing noob.
I installed AOKP 4.2 the other day and was having issues, so I decided to try a Synergy Rom. I use Clockword Mod Recovery to do this. When going in to flash Synergy I noticed the recovery wasn't accessing the SD like it usually does. It was giving me some error code about not being able to read external SD (I dont even have one in the phone I only use internal storage). So eventually I found the synergy file on the internal storage and flashed it. So I flashed it and was having all sorts of issues like no data, FC's etc and went back into recovery to flash my backup of the AOKP 4.2 ROM.
Here's my stupid part - I was in a rush at work this morning and wiped data / cache and got side tracked. Came back and thought I had flashed the new rom and hit restart phone in the recovery. So now I have nothing installed on the phone and the only thing I can get it to do is boot into the Download screen in Odin.
If this helps, the screen in Odin says:
Odin Mode
Product Name: SCH-I535
Custom Binary Download: Yes (2 counts)
Current Binary: Custom
System Status: Official
Qualcomm Secureboot: Enable
I have downloaded Odin to my computer and plugged it and tried to flash this .tar file and get a new recovery this way: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1695238 and had no luck as it errors out in Odin. When I connect the phone to Odin I get 0:[COM5] with a yellow colored background towards the top. I still tried to follow the above link's steps and it just errors out.
I'm at wits end and have no idea what to do now. If anyone has any idea, I would REALLY appreciate help. I have been searching for hours and haven't come up with anything that can really replicate my complete issue. I can chat via Gchat if thats easier or whatever, I just really need to get this fixed!
Thanks
Why are you trying to flash something intended for the international GSIII on your Verizon GSIII?
Had to state that cuz it is a terrible way to go about fixing your phone. Flash the rooted VRBKL3 tar in mrRobinson's thread in the Verizon GSIII dev section and then unlock your bootloader using EZ Unlock v1.2. If you didn't successfully flash anything for the i93000 then you should be fine in a few mins.
Edit: that thread you linked to even says what models it works for in the third line of the OP! lol

Yes sir, flash it via Odin. There are two rooted tars per image: wipe and no wipe. It's all detailed in mrRobinson's thread. You're in an easily recoverable situation. Just make sure to unlock your bootloader using EZ Unlock v1.2 and install a custom recovery if need be.

[Q] TWRP + Clockwork ...now hard bricked?

Hi Guys,
I have a Verizon SGS3 with stock JB 4.1.1 and I was following the steps posted here ([GUIDE] Root for Jelly Bean 4.1.1 or 4.1.2 OTA ***UPDATED 3/5***).
I got a little distracted and flashed both TWRP(1st) and Clockwork(2nd) but I still managed to successfully get to step 5 and root my phone and unlock boot loader.
Then I used clockwork and tried to install the liquid smooth 4.2 ( wiped cache and memeory etc) and after the rom installed and I selected reboot, and my phone was hard bricked. ie not response to any key and black screen, so no way to reload or restore anything. of course it was at the point I realized my mistake of flashing both.
I am going to JTAG the phone today, but I have a few questions,
My questions -
-was it because I had both TWRP and clockwork that caused this?
-if yes, how do I get rid of TWRP?
-I only want touchwiz and non of the other Verizon bloat, can you recommend a good stable rom.
thanks
What you have failed to realize that you don't have both recoveries you overwritten one when you flash the other. Believe it or not most if not all of Touchwiz ROMs are stable. The mistake came from the flashing of a custom ROMs as you failed to mention whether or not you have flashed the right Gapps for the ROM.

Thanks for the quick reply.
I did not flash gaaps. I thought I could do it after I got the liquid smooth 4.2 on it. Are you saying that I needed to flash the gaaps first before the liquid smooth?
Not flashing the gapps wouldn't "hard brick" your phone. You just wouldn't have the Play Store, Google Music, etc. OP, are you sure you're hard bricked? Because it's really difficult to hard brick this phone. The only way I've currently seen people HB their phone is by flashing something for the international S3. You can't get into recovery or download mode? Buy either holding Volume Up, Power or Volume Down, Power?

none of the button combination have any response. I tried removing battery and waiting 5 mins and reinserting but nothing. My battery was at 80% when I flashed the liquid smooth and bricked it. When I plug in to the PC, the USB drivers no longer load so I cannot use ODIN.

Alright alright this is what you do. If the phone isn't hard bricked (which it may be since you flashed a GNII rom) you need to either try to boot into recovery (hold volume down and home at the same time, then hold power. When it vibrates, release the power and hold the other two until you get recovery) or ODIN (odin is the same, just hold volume up instead of down). Report back if you can boot into these and I will assist from there.

You'll find AOSP ROMs and all kernels in Original Android Development and Touchwiz ROMs and mods and other stuff in Android Development. Don't flash anything that isn't made for the Verizon Galaxy S3

Not that I know of besides xda and rootzwiki, just be more careful. When you download roms always look for the download links for "d2vzw" roms or that specifically state "Verizon GSIII" when the link isn't immediately on xda. Typically AOSP roms are the ones with multiple multi-carrier, multi-device download links so always check and re-check after downloading zips.

Thanks again for the pointers.
When I get my phone back today, I have decided to flash the Bean ROM. I read the instructions and have one question. What does STEP 1 mean when it says "pick the locked version?" Does he mean pick the locked ROM version? If someone can explain briefly it would be appreciated. thanks
Install Instructions:
Step 1-
Make sure u are unlocked or pick the locked version during flash
Step 2-
Wipe all(factory reset and davlick wipe) if coming from an old build
Step 3-
Install the Rom
Step 4-
Reboot and Enjoy! after first boot reboot if youre using a custom ui and not the stock one(fixed soon)

He's taking about your bootloader. If you chose to root and unlock your bootloader when you rooted your phone, you get the regular rom. If you chose to only root and not unlock then your bootloader is locked and you must flash the locked version.

Oh, long story short that's the ICS rom that he created in July. From July-August, we had a locked bootloader, which is what he's referring. Thi meant flashing roms required something with a Kexec boot sequence, but once the GSIII was unlocked in August his rom and every rom presently available requires you to have an unlocked bootloader.
That said, when you get your phone you will need to:
1) root
2) unlock the bootloader
3) then proceed from there, whether that's backing up your IMEI or flashing a rom, etc.
I thoroughly suggest his JB rom since there's active development on it. Beans JB rom was updated last week and has "Build 15 [04/21/13]" in the title.

Not sure about the shop thing but in the instructions for flashing that rom it says you must be unlocked. Which means you must have an unlocked bootloader. You do this by flashing SuperSU_Bootloader_FIXED.zip in recovery. That zip file is recommended for flashing when you're following the root guide and they have a download link for it.

Updated to 4.3 without realizing on rooted S3 now bricked

I have a Verizon S3 and saw a new symbol in my notification bar and stupidly clicked on it without really thinking and my phone tried to update to 4.3. Well after the update I get a screen that says I'm not using official verizon software or something like that and that I need to take my phone to a verizon store to fix it. I can get to the Odin downloading screen I just don't know how to fix it from there. Please help I really don't have the money to buy a new phone right now. Any advice would be welcome
It depends on what is happening to your phone. Is it working or not? Can you tell us what android version is loaded currently?

It starts up and after the samsung logo. I get the message System software not authorized by Verizon Wireless has been found on your phone. Please turn off your phone and to the nearest Verizon Wireless store for help. At the top in red it also says secure fail: kernal. I believe I'm running Android 4.1.2 but I can't remember. If I hold down volume, home, and power I can get into the odin downloading screen but those are the only 2 screens I can access.

As long as you can get to the download screen, you can flash the official 4.3 with Odin. Dont try to go back to 4.1.2 or any custom rom as that will result in a hard brick.

First go into download mode and see if the boot chain flashed. If it didn't you should flash 4.1 not 4.3.
Once you're in download mode, post all the information it says in the top left corner.

You're on mf1 still.
Flash this in Odin:
http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23134718111254196
Using this guide, section 5:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1762709
Then use this to root your phone again:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2332825
After this, I'd unlock the bootloader with ez-unlock version 1.2 to make sure it's unlocked.
When you reboot, find sdm1.0.apk and fwupdater.apk and rename them to sdm1.0.apk.bak and fwupdater.apk.bak. Or use titanium backup and freeze both of them. Then you don't have to worry about an update being pushed to your phone.

Ez-unlock will brick your phone if you're on the 4.3 base. In this case it will work just fine, he's on the 4.1.2 base.

locked bootloader on rooted verizon galaxy s3
my phone was rooted and i mistakenly upgraded to 4.3.
i didn't have any problems rerooting my phone.
however though the phone is rooted, from what i've read i'm going to assume my bootloader is locked.
so i've decided to seek answers from the professionals.
i have root checker, rom manager, goomanager, titanium back up, root broswer, rom installer, root explorer, android root tool, superuser, super su, quickboot, terminal emulator and the hackers keyboard.
all to no avail...everytime i try to install a custom rom a message pops up on the screen saying i have unauthorized software on my phone and that i need to take it to verizon. yes from recovery mode...as a matter of fact the recovery mode won't load it just takes me to the " take my phone to verizon screen "...
just to be clear i have a galaxy s3 on verizon running 4.3
phone is rooted and super su, or superuser has been granted to the necessary apps,
still everything i've tried hasn't worked.
sorry for the length but i was attempting to provide as much info as possible...
any and all help regarding this matter will be greatly appreciated...

Sounds like you're on 4.3, if that's the case then you can't install any custom roms without a special recovery.
Just to be sure, boot into download mode and type out what the text says in the top left corner. Your symptoms sound like it could be either, the install of will usually fail if you're rooted, unless everything you had was completely stock.

You're on 4.3 with a locked bootloader, meaning you can't install custom recovery, rom, kernel. The only thing available for 4.3 is root. Don't try to install custom recovery or you will brick your phone. At this time you may have a soft brick, go here to fix it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2586319

Physically type down in a reply to @BadUsername, exactly what is written when you are fully booted into download mode. Everything in the upper left of the screen where it starts with "Odin Mode" in red all caps. Someone is helping you and they can't continue to help you, unless you help them first with that info.

Here is my list:
If the OTA already downloaded, delete it here /cache/fota
To disable the OTA:
Rename or freeze the apps with Titanium backup:
otacerts.zip located in /etc/security - rename to otacerts.zip.bak
Rename fwupdate.odex, fwupdate.apk located in /system/app
and freeze SDM1.0 located in /system/app
Awesome thank you. And without TiBu? My wife uses the GS3, and I don't think she has a license for TiBu.
I guess just rename the first two with a file manager, delete the update and disable sdm1 in the app settings?
