hey guys help me with ur views and suggestions.
Spice MI-410 (Rebranded Huawei IDEOS U9000 X6) - 13K -- Nothing beats this for value for money - 4.1" 800x480 Screen, Qualcomm MSM8255, Adreno 205GPU, 5MP Cam with Flash, 512MB RAM.
HTC Desire (Not S / HD) - 15-16K
Motorola Defy - 15K
If you are ready to consider 'mid range' devices, the range of choices grows a lot. You can then include Galaxy Ace, Wildfire S, ChaCha, Dell XCD35, Huawei U8800 X5. But, if I were to buy a phone today at 15K, I would pick one from the 1st 3. (Inclining more and more to the Spice, but, sadly, there's no section for it at XDA - Yet)

thanks,
is spice (Huawei IDEOS U9000 X6) reliable in terms of hardware and stuff ? i'm not able to get desire for 15-16k (dealers in delhi are quoting around 20k !!!!). i checked out defy but it seems to lag especially while scrolling up and down the screen...
was in dilemma so posted here for help.
The X6 should be reliable, I don't see why not. Besides, it is backed by the normal manufacturer warranty.
Desire was on stock at Flipkart.com for 16.5K but is unfortunately not in stock ATM.
Saholic.com lists the Desire as in Stock though at 15.5K, and, since they are a Spice initiative, the MI-410 is also available exclusively through them online (For 14K - as I stated above). Only thing - You'll have to be comfortable buying a phone online.
For the Defy, I have tested it quite a lot(A friend of mine has it), and, frankly, I haven't felt any lag at all. Then again, maybe its because I have a Wildfire, and everything other than it will feel fast.
Good Luck

HD has no flash for camera and no keyboard.. any one can please explain my how HD is better than Xperia?
non of them have flash for camera but some do have a led for camera but that's in a different league then real flash a much lower leagure at that
xda hd is better if one want a thiner device and no keyboard and like touch 3d
I recently was in the same boat and had the same selections as you. I opted for the omnia, first one I recieved I bricked trying to flash the official uk rom update downloaded directly from samsung site. The 2nd (still going) I nearly bricked again trying the same rom flash and ended up flashing a custom rom to recover it. There are quite a few owners having problems flashing roms (official ones mainly) over at modaco.
Overall the phone is pretty much the same, speed wise, as my trinity. I was swung to it by the memory size.
The gps works fine now I've done a tweak (again from modaco) and overall its a bit better than my old trinity (camera knocks spots off htc one).
Its a bit of a pain not being able to "see" some of my favorite software properly due to the unconventional screen size.
If I had tried an experia I might before taking the plunge I might have made a different choice.

SE Xperia is a great device, i have been using it much and got it couple of months ago.
being a developer my self helped me getting the max out of this great device.
i will really never replace it with anything else.
very reliable and trustworthy, good build quality and great design.
i say SE Xperia X1
good luck in your choice.
Well what is xperia missing that HD has without the keyboard?... and the answer is *drumb tap* g-sensor... well my opinion is that if you don't need g-senor but would like a hardwarekeyboard the go for xperia.. well i wanted both features of xperia and HD, well both of the have bigger screen than Raphael but Raphael was my final choice and i do not regret it any time .. well i suggest you to go throguh some youtube videos with unboxing and user experience and check some applications both have and so forth..
My 2 cents, just MHO:
XPERIA X1 beats any current device because:
1- Beautiful blend between hightech and artwork
2- Beautiful blend between SONY and HTC
3- Beautiful WVGA 800x640 Sony screen (bye bye HTC Raphael/Touch Pro)
4- Cool metal case in two colours (aurevoir HTC diamond)
5- Useful hardware keyboard (so long HTC Touch HD)
6- Windows Mobile inside a Sony !! LOTS of apps and tweaks available (ciao iPhone)
7- The biggest ammount of RAM currently available
8- Sony Panels interface plus the abitlity to add TouchFlo3D as another panel
9- microSD card slot up to 16GMB (and 32GB soon)
10- Long lasting big battery, bigger than many others
11- Small and comfortable form factor (not as thick as Tytn or Touch Pro)
12- Etc etc etc
You get a great Phone from Sony Ericsson, a portable office from Microsoft, a Walkman from Sony and worldwide connectivity (choose from X1a or X1i) from HTC-qualcomm
What else do you want ??
thx gtrab your post helped me lot
can you tell me.. really it support 16GB card? cool
when do you think 32gb will be available..
and if I purchase now.. these days.. this production is more stable? or should I wait more?

No mate I meant about Xperia itself.. it supports 16GB now right? What I am asking is.. when new version of Xeria comes which will support 32GB, Actully 16GB also more than I need but just asking.
Does Xperia has stable version now? I saw couple of sellers who sells Xperia within $700 on Ebay. Are they stable versions?
its very simple for me, do you want a device that won't hardware fail on you within a year or not? If you want it to last more than a year then don't buy HTC (which includes experia).
EVERY HTC device I have owned has been back for at least one warranty repair. These include a Blueangel, TyTN, TyTN2 and .... actually i lied, my Touch Diamond is now in a draw - broken.
edit: Sorry, should make it clear. My 16gig Omnia, with its extra 16gig card, is working like a dream with no signs of any hardware failures. HTC, awesome specs .... crap build quality. All of this ofc, is in my experience.

Then the Omnia is NOT the choice of phone for you as a; it doesn't have a keyboard and b;its a low res. Shame, really as the low res screen has two BIG advantages - 1 its fast as f*&k and 2 it uses far less battery.
Be sure if you are going to buy the XPeria to check out DEFECTS: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=447211
It seems, HTC made the same mistake with the Universal. I voted for the Xperia, because of the keyboard.
Oh my days ........ that is very shocking . (Well, actually, given who make it, no its not at all)
And the case for the prosecution rests your honor.
Buy HTC manufactured devices at your peril.......

Stevane,
out of all phones you've mentioned, 5700 SPica is the best choice, simply 'coz it have 3.2" 480x320 screen and fastest CPU/GPu (SoC)
Yeah it's short on memory, but hey at least it has capacitive screen!
Gratia is better phone in any respect, but I don't know where in Bosnia you could buy it, and more importantly if you could how much are you ready to pay for it!?!
hTC mate....Go in for the Wildfire for now...Look no furthur...Samsung Galaxy 3 isn't much of a good device.A friend of mine has that phone...

Wildfire's QVGA sceen and Qualcom's MSM7225 SoC are major letdowns!
In all respects, except memory size, i5700 spica is better phone!
I agree that Galaxy3 or 5, or any other except Spica and i9000S should be avoided!
Again, if there's a chance to obtain Gratia, that would be best solution, but somehow I doubt that's pssible in Bosnia now!
Htc Gratia is not now availible in Bosnia, but i can wait to see a price.
Htc Wildfire and i5700 are about 225 euros. if grati will be about 260 i will bought them
And now i dont know what to do if i cant bought gratia. you say i5700 bu other say wildfire !??

Now i am looking for Sony Ericsson X8. With Android 2.1 i think that x8 is better than wildfire and spica

Not at all...If you drop a Sony Ericsson, you break your heart. I have had a bad experience with sony ericsson devices where the USB connector gets un-usable, the screen cracks even when the device is in your not so tight jean pocket...Just look for the shortcomings before you go for sony ericsson...It will waste your money in repairing.Instead, save some more money and buy a better device...Thats from my side...Rest is upto you to decide.

how about a motorola defy......

Hi, I hve finally decide to go back to PDA/Smartphone and want to know which I should get. I am a veteran in the rom flashing/cooking era of the wizard and vario's and htc touch pro 2. I am after finding out which is the best , as in most powerful and able to run everything smoothly whether it be android or Win7. I prefer a physical keyboard , but if screen good enough will use on screen one.
Thanks for your time/thoughts peeps!!
P.s coming of an Iphone 4. (Boo hiss I know...lol).
Desire Z (w/ HW Keyboard), iPhone 4 or HTC HD7...
This depends on you. All those phones are great. You need to check which one fits your style. We can't do this for you.
I suggest you wait until the newer Q1 2011 android phones come out, where do you live and what carriers are in your area?
Thanks for the replys. I am in UK on o2 and have about £400 for new phone.
need a phone quite quickly so am after the best nowish. Can a desire z be flashed with roms etc and HD7?
HD7 looks quite big and desire z only has 800mhz cpu as far as I can see . Is this fast enough.?
Thanks.
Hello Folks!
I see that the Canvas 2 has really a buzzing bunch of threads here!
I have looked at the options in market now, and feel that Canvas 2 is really the BEST bang for buck considering I have 9k budgeted for my phone purchase.
I DO NOT WANT TO SPEND over 10K on a phone.
I am used to my Dell Streak ( 5" inch screen ) for past 2+years!
( this phone served me just fine - and died suddenly today )
I want a similar sized - better powered, reliable & supported (by xda) product.
So far - the support for this phone looks like it will continue - at least for another year (minimum).
Any limitations?
Do you guys support this or want to suggest me some other option?
I have a day to decide folks!
Cheers to the MM spirit guys ! :good:
Sony.
although - XDA calls it Low activity devices!
Canvas 2 is best...bt it is a year old...
Its your choice...
By the way this is the only cheap device which has support on XDA

I don't see any reason the support shouldn't continue for another year ( at least ).
Many devs onboard, right?
JB is already working.
Kitkat should work too! since they are promising run on 512 MB ram devices.
A110Q is better hardware - but seems to have way less developer action happening.
Any comments?
Sony.

Is this phone sold in country, or are you going to import it from china? Because if not, I would not recommend you a chinese phone. If it is defective you'll have a hard time returning it (if you can at all) etc.
Btw, if you come from iPhone, I strongly recommend you Google-listed devices (assume you live in the US, it would be HTC One, Nexus 5, SGS4) that come with the stock Android UI. They are updated as soon Google pushes out updates, which is closer what you experience on the iPhone.
Since chinese phones except for Huawei ones are rarely supported in XDA (they lack documentation, source etc) I would not recommend you a chinese phone if you want to try out new ROMs.
If you are ready to take the risks there you go. But as a first time Android user, no way I would go with that phone.
My recommendation for you is the Nexus 5. Hope this helps.
i have to import from china. im a symbian user im sorry i forgot to mentioned where i live. im from sri lanka and no play store available. no way to get a nexus 5. even if somehow managed get my hands on a nexus 5 it would costs me around 550-600$.

If it has to be a chinese phone then I suggest you the Xiaomi Mi3. Great User Interface (MIUI), great update support and best hardware for little money. Xiaomi is also highley popular, it is being regarded like Apple in china.
Go straight for Nubia, it has the best specs out there and far away the best price. I just order it btw.

Good question, in deed I just got a Nubia z5s 3 weeks ago.
(I used to be a Moto supporter, but got disappointed by Moto's sales policy - however, CDMA users can hardly have so many choices as others. forget HTC, bad quality.)
Somebody mentioned Xiaomi, I don't think it's a good option. Nubia's hardware spec is almost the same as Xiaomi, but Xiaomi's shipment and sales policy will drive you crazy. You have to attend to a luck draw first, then could have a chance to buy one!
Regarding the experience, herein I only talk about my experience.
1. BATTERY:
From 7am to 10pm, medium use, about 75% is consumed.
2. DISPLAY:
Much better than MOTO X  , 1080p. Also, the color is not so cold as Samsung.
3. VOICE&MESSAGE:
Fairly clear, however the location of Mic is just under USB port. sometimes your finger could swipe it when picking up.
As CM user, very delighted to see vibrate setup in "settings", SMS also designed with popup
4. CAMERA
I didn't test too much. However, the respond speed is satisfying.
5. SOFTWARE
a. I have to acknowledge that the UI design is lower than my expectation, especially the icons. Styles in default apps and system UI are not actually unique. But most Androider will change the launcher at soonest, am I right? (ps. I really hate Samsung's UI and the screen density!)
b. Furthermore, the system compatibility...there's no surprise, also no fetal bugs.
c. Seemed Nubia team learnt a lot from CM team. They just released source CODE on their website.
d. It can be ROOTED easily.
e. Some local team has ported CWM RECOVERY on it. Nice job!
f. It's said MIUI by local team is on the way. Also, some guy is working on its AOSP now.
6. AUDIO
Sorry but I never play songs via cell phone. Somebody has idea?
7. DESIGNING
I spent almost one week to get familiar with the weight - it's too light
8. NETWORK
GSM/TD/CDMA, not sure if it can be used in Verizon network?
In conclusion, it didn't disappoint me. I'd be delighted to see more improvements or 3rd party's works on ROMs in near future.
Guys, is this phone suitable for the dutch network and.if flashed with multi language you can use dutch language?
