Here's a convenient way to turn off (and then back on) the button leds on our X10 from recovery.
Those are the leds at the bottom of your X10, not the notification led.
Thanks to Adolf1994 for the original script.
It can also be done by copying/deleting a single file instead, but it's more convenient to use this from recovery after installing a new rom.
The new version is for the CWM Recovery
It installs in init.d and includes a solution for roms using Fera Engine v10. On those roms permissions of the brightness file are changed after anything in init.d is run so the nobuttonleds script is also run at the end of hw_config.sh.
CWM version
Should work on any rom with working /etc/init.d or /etc/init.d and hw_config.sh
Tested on:
DiXperia X/10 with DXEngine
Xrecovery version
The /etc/init.d folder needs to be properly working on the rom you use. (thanks to My_Immortal for pointing that out!)
tested on:
- WB-XPERIA TW Gingerbread
- ThJap's 2.3 ThGo2 v1.3
If it doesn't work on the rom you use and you have root, try this:
- add this line to /etc/install-recovery.sh (check first if busybox is in xbin or bin):
/system/xbin/busybox run-parts /system/etc/init.d
or
/system/bin/busybox run-parts /system/etc/init.d
- another way is to use the Script Manager way explained here.
Installation
- copy on your SD card
- start CWM Recovery or xRecovery, install as custom zip
The change is permanent: the button leds will be turned off everytime you boot until you install another rom or you decide to turn them on.
thanks but i prefer to keep them ON
Not working
noled.zip + Script Manager working!
AlgerK70, could it be that you already copied noled.sh as 50-noled in /etc/init.d ? If so you need to delete it first, or else the leds will stay "on".
After booting, turn the screen on then off to see if it works.
and who's supposed to execute the script at boot?

The little green Android in your phone!
Edit:
The script is executed by the system, it's installed in /etc/init.d, a folder pretty much like the Startup folder on your computer.

No, it's not.
init.d folder doesn't work on the latest stock SE kernel.
We need to wait for custom kernels to run scripts at boot from init.d.
It's the 2 white leds between the hardware buttons. The ones that are so annoying when reading an ebook in the dark on low luminosity because they keep turning on

Please try it, "ButtonLedsOFF" only copies one file to your phone, it won't overwrite anything. To "revert" if it doesn't work, install "ButtonLedsON" and it will remove the file. Please try, and if it works, report here, thanks

Here is a new SenseFroyo rom for everyone from TEAM FUSPRINT.
Please take the time to read the entire post so as not to waste our time answering stupid questions. Thanks Team FUSPRINT
Ok every one this has all patches includes and has been majorly tweaked to perform as close to perfect as possible at this point. No sense resets, not bogging down while on the internet (changes to buffering) more in line with our phones.
This rom is using a custom kernel from Decadence @ 691 so run this kernel first to see what you think, i truely runs great.
Also if you want tkirtons A2SD just donwload from his thread and follow his directions for install the kernel already supports it.
MMS will only recieve and send if wifi is disabled this is due to the hack required to make it work in the first place.
Directions
You Must do a full wipe!!! If you dont, dont even post about a problem
Install the rom
do your first boot and logins
If you want Sprint VVM working then copy a backup copy of a working VVM from - data/data/ com.coremobility.app.vnotes on the old rom to data/data/com.coremobility.app.vnotes.
Then reboot. now VVM will be fully funtional.
then set your MMS follow this be FdxRider
"Need help testing this workaround for mms fix. All credit for the Mmszap.apk goes to hyriand over at htcpedia.com forums for the app,and whomever created the mms-signed.zip (if anybody kows pm me I'll add they're name).
Download both files to your sdcard, from recovery(NANDROID FIRST) then flash the signed zip and reboot.
Go to >menu>settings>applications>Unknown sources and check the box for "installation of non-market apps"
Next from a file manager install the .apk or push it to system/app if you prefer.
Next Open Mmszap>uncheck the box next to "Automatically copy active APN settings
Next delete the http://mms.orange.co/uk from the MMSC box and add this: http://mms.sprintpcs.com leave the password and username blank then delete everything out of MMS Proxy and also the MMS Port Click the back button or hit Home and it will save the settings reboot then open Mmszap again to check if your settings stuck.
mms-sign.zip
MmsZap-2.0.apk
ROM T-FUS._SenseFroyo_Heroc_V8.5.zip
What it is:
HTC Sense running on Android 2.2.1
What works:
Calls
3G
SMS/MMS (160 char limit) (Sprint MMS sizes 500k, 2Meg, and 5 megs.)
Bluetooth (does pair and connect without issue just no audio as of yet)
Accelerometer
270/90 degree rotation
Keypad leds
Light sensor
Network location/Agps
USB tether
LiveWallpaper from the Market
All HTC Sense apps/widgets
All Google Apps
WiFi
GPS
Adhoc Wifi Networks
Notification Leds
Flash 10.1 lite
Desire style lock screen
Reboot added to OS
Newest Sprint VVM
Es File explorer
and more
What does not work:
Camera (Blaack screen)
Bluetooth Audio (does pair and connect without issue just no audio as of yet)
Mobile Network settings will fc (happens in every gsm sense rom ported to cdma)
Not all Live Wallpapers will work well

This mod will add init.d support to any rom even stock roms without editing the ramdisk. Instead it uses the post_boot.sh file that is in most if not all roms. It should work on most devices, if it does not work on yours please look in /system/etc and post the name of the file that contains "post_boot.sh".
This mod has been tested on the OneX and OneS.
To use just flash in recovery and add your favorite scripts to init.d.
For devs:
To add this method to your rom simply edit the post_boot.sh file and add this line at the bottom:
Code:
/system/etc/init.d/*
Easy right ? Suprised it hasn't been done before, well at least that i know of.
All files in init.d will be executed at boot just like regular init.d. You can also manually add the line and make it whatever directory you want.

Have you ever wondered why so many custom roms?are they really different from each other?
Answer is no,not really, they are all the same with tiny tweaks.
The MAJOR difference is inside of init.d.Those scripts is 95% of the difference between "good" ROM,"bad" ROM,"BEST?" ROM,... lol

This will add the ability to use a custom bootanimation on any rom with any kernel and probably any samsung device.
It has been tested on the Note II but should work with any samsung device that uses samsungani to load boot animations. If it doesn't work for you please post here.
Uses the typical settings bootanimation is at /system/media/bootanimation.zip, this is for those using a stock rom or a rom the dev didn't add it in.
I included the Google Gears bootanimation too. Flash the file in recovery. The attachment is a flashable zip not bootanimation.zip.
The updater-script uses busybox to mount the partitions, so if it doesn't flash correctly install busybox from an app on the play store then try again.
Edited the attachment, now includes the bootanimation binary just in case in bootanimation4u.zip, there is also another one named Bootanimation4U.Samsungani.Only that only edits samsungani.
If /system/bin/bootanimation exists flash the Bootanimation4U.Samsungani.Only.zip
How to use:
Add bootanimation.zip to /system/media
Flash Bootanimation4U.zip in recovery
If you want sound add an ogg file named PowerOn.ogg to /system/media/audio/ui, if sound doesn't work be sure /system/bin/samsungpowersoundplay exists if its there it will play sound if not its not included in your rom download it HERE then put it where it belongs and fix the perms which should be rwxr-xr-x
Reboot...Enjoy
Here is a method to get some bootanimations thanks to ReelFiles:
ReelFiles said:
Awesome!
1. Make a backup just in case.
2. Flash bootanimation4u.zip from recovery (I use TWRP).
3. Reboot and install Boot Animations Root from the Play Store.
4. Go into the app's preferences and change install location to /system/media/ and leave the default filename (bootanimation.zip) and go back to the main screen.
5. Select any bootanimation from the Server tab and hit Install. (Tablet ones at the bottom of the list look best.)
6. Select the installed bootanimation again and hit Resize. Set it to 720x1280 30FPS.
7. Tap the options key and select "Preview current" Make sure you like it and reboot.
I use the Tablet - Shatter one, it looks like the one from the Jedi Roms, but higher quality.
If you Preview a few different ones and then decide to use one you downloaded earlier, delete it first then install and resize it again, or the preview will just be a black screen and might not work at all.
I believe you can preview before installing the animation if you buy the Pro version.

No it only uses busybox to mount system to copy files. It makes it flashable on most devices without using specific blocks. Ie. Mmcblk0p13

Ok, so this will prevent the boot loop caused by adding bootanimation.zip's manually on samsung devices? (vzw gs3 running aosp).
Does the flash of your mod stick between rom flashes, or flash each time?
I don't thing it belongs to development, since the mod is already known and that's why i already posted something like this on General with both methods (manual and CWM)

I don't thing it belongs to development, since the mod is already known and that's why i already posted something like this on General with both methods (manual and CWM)

I didnt rename bootanimation to samsungani i changed
it to a script to point to bootanimation. Same result diff method. Just looked at your thread, nice work.

Ok, so this will prevent the boot loop caused by adding bootanimation.zip's manually on samsung devices? (vzw gs3 running aosp).
Does the flash of your mod stick between rom flashes, or flash each time?

It should though I do not have a vzw gs3 to test it.

Worked perfectly on my SIII i747, flashed thru CWM. Thanks!:good:
doesn't work for me on my tmo note 2
but then again I havent been able to get any custom boot screens to work at all regardless of manually adding them or using an apk to do it for me...
after flashing bootanimation4u should i see an app in my app tray upon boot up? i don't see an app by that name
I'm using busybox v1.20.2 and it's installed in system/xbin
(i used jrummy's busybox installer app)

No app, what rom are you using and what kernel ? Sounds rom/kernel related this should work with no problems. Is there a file called samsungani and bootanimation in system/bin ? And lastly what does it do when it boots ? Black ? Samsung logo ?

Hello there Xperia PLAY forum!
So, after an entire week of work, I can release my first android application here:
it is an utility to enable touchpads on any rom that is supported (if you want me to support your rom, please post here) .
Description:
It is composed by 2 main apps (or code-talking by 2 main Activities):
A build.prop fixer
A flashable.zip extractor
The build.prop fixer basically modifies some of your build.prop values to match these values, in order to have a proper recognition of the device by games or apps.
The flashable.zip extractor extracts into your sdcard (into a path specified by the app itself) a flashable.zip which contains the fixed framework.jar and the Touchpads Activator app by farenheith for the rom you choose.

This app is meant to be used on Cyanogenmod (9 and 10) based roms, it won't fix touchpads on Gb :/
But there's a n64 emulator that allows u to use touchpads, i think it is called Mupen, unless you're using cm7

Well it's quite simple, but you can't use adb since adb executable isn't available on android, but still, you can use busybox instead;
the way I use to execute a cmd via, for example, a press of a button, is to define a Process and a Runtime.
Then you can obtain su permissions (in the OnClick method) by using the Process you defined, like this:
Code:
Process process = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("su" );
Then I use a DataOutputStream to exec other cmds (like mv or cp...)
Example to mount /system (where "//" starts comments:
Code:
[COLOR="Lime"]//Defining a DataOutputStream[/COLOR]
DataOutputStream os = new DataOutputStream(process.getOutputStream());
[COLOR="Lime"]//Using the defined DataOutputStream (os) to exec the command[/COLOR]
os.writeBytes("mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock0 /system\n" );
I'm busy these days, but ask me if you need anything (I'm not a java developer though lol)

If slimbean is based on cm10 (fxp228 and up) then it'll work, but make a backup to be 100% sure

Hiya I hope that you are still around, I am still interested in the xperia play especialy as it looks like kitkat will come out for it any time soon. I am having trouble with the touchpads on my xperia play
I have a Jellybean rom, called SONYCM10 FINAL perfect in every way BUT a major issue that i was not expecting.
Touchpad Activator which is included in the build fails to work when pressing the (activate just for this app) button, it came back with
Error 1: android.view.ViewRoot, the touchpads failed to work in anything
I then installed your touchpad fixer, i have clicked the framework and buildprop buttons and restarted into recovery mode (lupus jb v13) and installed from zip file the framework (I gather that this is how you flash it?). When i restart the phone and test the touchpads there is still no recognition AND when i go back into your fixer app it still says text in red that i have still not fixed my buildprop. I also coppied the framework manually into my system folder and overwrote the original with the new one just incase the installer was not working.
What am I missing? am I not flashing it properly or what? Again I did not flash but just installed from recoverymode the framework zip...
The only thing I can think of that I have not tried is to extract your buildprop somehow and manually overwrite the one in my system directory?
Any Help would be most welcome...
