Here we go:
As of update 1.1.7 of mike1986's Android Revolution ROM I experienced a strange issue:
My phone just randomly turns off at least two times a day. I'm not talking about a reproduceable error, since my phone only showed an unresponsive black screen (waking it up by pressing the power button didn't work, too), when I was carrying it in my pocket. I thought at first it was an SOD issue like with the early Android builds for the HD2. But today my phone just literally turned off before my own eyes while I was checking my mail. I wasn't even able to turn it on anymore without performing a battery pull. I was confronted with this issue the third time just a couple of minutes ago. I even did a full wipe and reflashed the ROM (I know, I'm just a Junior Member, but trust me, I know how to this properly), before this happened - again.
Should I just revert to an older version of the ROM or wait for an update? I don't want to just sit around and do nothing about it.
Any help is much appreciated!

A lot of people are having these issues. Just install a different kernel and that should fix the problem or go back to 1.1.5 or 1.1.6. I'm waiting for 1.1.8

Try flashing the kernel in my sig using CWM.

I did. Thing is, I'm still a Junior Member, so I'm not allowed to post the experience I had or ask questions about it. I know, it's a ROM-specific question which belongs in the thread of the aforementioned ROM, but asking someone out of the to post it for me would have been about just as much annoying. Still, I'm sorry.
Still, it seemed somehow that no one reported the exact situation, as there were different solutions proposed. But - as I said - I couldn't even add anything to the discussion, since I'm not allowed.
I hope, it didn't disturb you too much.

EDIT: The UI runs pretty smoothly now and my WIFI and mobile data are not lagging anymore. It MUST have been the kernel.

Hi,
It worked for me,and I've had no black screens since.
Yes, reverting to RC Mix 2.3 solves many glitches IMO. Should do the trick while waiting for a better version.

my problem is sometimes the phone freeze. i read the entire post to find the solution to fixed that. then i found the only solution is to install init at here . can someone make a tutorial how to install that. i mean the step by step tutorial.
Have you any idea as to how to use ADB or terminal? If you do, then you are pretty much done, with the exception of executing those commands in that post. If not, you'll have to wait till it gets committed like the rest of us Or just wait till someone that does know, comes across your thread! That thread is mainly there for people who know how to do this already.

i don't know how to use ADB or terminal. actually this is my first time heard that. hehe
Some say it isn't that difficult while others have a difficult time trying to understand English, much less speak/type it(like myself ). If you feel up to it, you can start by reading HERE. Unless someone else has this simplified elsewhere. If that were the case and I knew of it, I woldn't be pointing you in this direction.

and i think it's not because flax cable because this problem only happen when i use froyo fx06.
Honestly, I've never had any real problems with FroYo freezing on boot. Just the SoD issue due to partial panel collapse. Supposedly, that (modified rootfs) only fixes the freezing on boot issue. Unfortunately, there is no way I can reproduce the issue you are experiencing on my end to help troubleshoot. Some blame it on the operator/service provider and others think it's the build itself. As for me, well I'm not sure what to think because it doesn't seem to affect me much. Have you tried Gingerbread yet? Might be something to play around with till the issue gets fixed.

Thank you for trying to help me. actually i have try to set my phone in airplane mode to test if the problem because operator/service provider , but the problem still the same. it's not freeze because i still can fell it vibrate when i touch the screen only the display not show up.
about gingerbread. i have read that gingerbread is android 2.3 and froyo is 2.2 right? but why many people like to use froyo then gingerbread? if gingerbread have any problem. sorry if i asking to many question.
I'm not 100% on this but I think it has something to do with the fact that the porting is still in alpha phase for our devices. If anything, this can be looked at as good or bad. Good, that we have gotten this far and it seems our devices are pretty much stable. Bad, that this might be as good as it gets for a while. You have to weight the options of a faster port(in terms of stability) but less complete(in terms of functionality) or a more complete port but not quite as fast. I remember when we first got FroYo, it seemed like a complete mess. It took till the third release (FRX03) for stability to take place(noticable) because the devs were trying to figure out what caused the instability. When it's all said and done, the end user experience is all that most are looking for. When this is the case, it's difficult to say what should be done. Wait till it becomes more stable or try to come up with work arounds. Troubleshooting can get you so far until you require more understanding of what affects what. Hopefully, I have bored you out of your mind and that this makes things clearer as to what you can do to help!
thank you for your kind to help me. i have change to gingerbread but it have same problem like froyo. then i tried to hard reset then reinstall froyo and change the kernel. now it working great without problem except camera not working . maybe because i change the kernel htc-msm-linux-20110214_200559-package.tar . but it's ok for me. i will wait till new release.
You must have the similar issues some others have (on foreign carriers/other than USA based) Now, I'm not saying this is the problem just that others that have a similar issue, are on those carriers. There have been updated kernel packages that include the camera fix but I would suggest a little more reading into what you need to do, to ensure that you aren't causing the issue you are experiencing now.
Hello all, not much of a poster, would normally just read (been around for years), but when you PM the creator of the ROM and he tells you to post a thread seeking others with the same bug, I shall do it...
I loved 6.4, tried to hold off on 7, but i had a few days off....
7 install went perfect from the website... Then first call, screen goes blank. (A common bug I had read in other 2.3.3). I can live with that bug... But, always, 10 seconds into a call, I can no longer hear the other party, wether on internal or external speaker. Caller can still hear me. If I wait long enough, I can hear again, well for a minute or two, then it will stop working again, like the phone is muting the other end. My mute does not work and still says video call, something the other 2.3.3's do not...
No issues with Skype, the old hacked version still works, so I made it threw the day.
Last night, I tried some other 2.3.3's out there, just nothing compares to Serendipity...
Briefly went to cm_captivatemtd_full-20.zip last night with galaxys-bootloader-JVB.tar and talens in the PDA.... The phone worked... So I know I can get to 2.3.3 I just can not live with out some of the features in Serendipity. Then I reflashed s7, then reloaded the galaxys-bootloader-JVB.tar and talens in the PDA, and she worked for 3 calls, then back to error....
I did read about one other person having this issue 3 days after he installed S7, but can not find that post now. So for MikeyMike, any one else have this issue?
Now for me, is there anyway I can remove all the phone files from cm_captivatemtd_full-20.zip and transplant into my s7? Or maybe it is a different modem file (what I know nothing about).... My little 300 ohm micro usb I made is still holding up, so I am game to try anything....
For now, heading back to 6.4, it just simple was perfect...

Whatever you're on that works, toe *#1234# in the dialer and it will tell you what modem you have.

This sounds unfortunate. I flashed S7 on monday and other than the well documented battery drain bug of Gingerbread, I am having no problems. Phone is more responsive, battery life is better (when you catch the bug and restart the phone). I am very impressed with the build. The CRT screen of animation gets some looks.

I installed 7 after using 6.4 sucessfully. After I got thu, I lost my root.The buttons at the bottom did not work the same as befor and whenever I am connectec to my computer It says connected to Kies and to use the home key to get out. NOT, So here I go off the install 6.4 or something else.

That being said, I recently decided to dip into the rooting pool and I've enjoyed the experience so far. I rooted my S3 (SCH-I535) and added the MOAR rom on July 4th, and everything ran smooth for the first week. Recently, I'm running into an issue where the phone freezes on the lock screen and then goes into a soft reset. It's happened a couple times a day for the last three days or so but once it boots back up it seems to work okay for a while. I've also noticed that the phone turns the screen back on when I hit the power button, repeats about three times before stopping. Is this problem related to the root and rom process at all? I've had the lock screen problem briefly when I had my Droid 2 Global, not sure what happened to fix that (if it fixed at all...). I would ask the MOAR rom forum, but I'm a noob (not sure if it's rom related either). Any help would be appreciated!
p.s. will be loading the new version of MOAR later tonight, maybe that will help?

Try disabling the ripple effect in your lockscreen settings. That is a known issue with any lockscreen other than the stock one.
Seriously a new version of MOAR? Dang it seems like every time I downloaded the new version they're putting up a new one. Which isn't a bad thing but still. Did they say this on the thread?

Where can I find the kernel information?
So with a couple tests, I found that the phone tends to soft reset twice if I enter the wrong swipe password, not sure why it has to freak out like that but it's annoying. That's the only time it's been resetting now. The other issue, screen turning back on after I turn it off with the power button, is still persisting but isn't happening in any discernable pattern.
Okay so I found the kernel information, it says

People in the MOAR forum (Verizon S3) have had problems on the reboots with the Blackberry lockscreen, but I'm on Rotary so that doesn't help.

kinda directed @sbdags (sorry again champ i cant post in development thread) but for some reason after a little use of the ROM the touch screen becomes unresponsive and stops working completely for like a few minutes sometime a lot longer. keyboard attached works like a charm, thank god otherwise im stuck =/
comes good after a hot boot, but have also done cold boots and fixes the issues but does come back every now and again.
i did a complete wipe and also using that4+'s kernel (no dirty wipe). but has been happening the last 2-3 versions but havnt thought anything of it.
has anyone come across this issue? is there something that im missing?

Never happened to me but perhaps there may be some apk that consumes all the resources, it strikes me that you can try to see what is consuming the resources of the tablet, for example, through the free apk COOL TOOL because you can see the% of CPU in use well as the available memory or the process that consumes more resources......
Try one of the other kernels from my kernel installer to eliminate that first please.
I've seen this happen once when advanced wifi settings was set to always on with power or whatever it was. It never came back though.

Just thought id give you a quick update so far no good with 3 out of 5 kernels, both _that's and your stock kernel having the issue and just about to try one of Hundsbuah's beta kernels and see what happens.
its no major issue to me actually gives me an excuse to actually do a cold boot every so often, since i never turn my tablet off.

During the last couple of weeks, with different ROMs I've been experiencing some touch screen issues. I feel like there is a 0.5s delay/lag on the touches which makes using the phone annoying. I can barely type and touches are not really accurate.
Not sure if there is any good app for testing the touchscreen, but I tried one (Test Touch) and as far as I can see, touches are not registered or are intermittently registered when fast touching the screen. (See Video). When I slowly drag the finger, a continuous line is traced.
I couldn't find anyone else having the same issue hence I'm posting this. Thanks for the help.
Current ROM: Temasek's UNOFFICIAL Build, 10.1, CM 12.1 .
Stock kernel.
Edit: Ram use is always lower than 50% and CPU usage is low.

You're not the only one- I opened a thread about this. Seems as something happened as people updated to android 5.x as did with me.
Hopefully someone can figure something out!
Seems more like an input lag- like you mentioned. Really annoying and makes it hard to type fast or use swype function.

I've been having this issue too! I thought it was the ROM, but I am on my second one now with the same touch lag . I didn't have the issue in 5.0, though. I might consider downgrading and hope that that fixes my issue. Any help on this would be much appreciated

Happy to know I am not the only one having this issue , good that we are on the same boat.
I'm travelling in a few days and can't go abroad with the phone in this "working" conditions so I will have to downgrade for sure. Any 5.0 ROM to recommend? A solution for 5.1 would be better

I flashed Slim ROM, touches delay improved a bit but I was experiencing some lag on the hardware keys.
I just flashed last bacon firmware (from April 09) and RobbieL811 ROM and seems to be running smoothly, I wonder if it was a firmware issue. Thoughts?
Right, I have the same bloody problem, and I'm seriously thinking of going back to kit kat. What the hell happened, it worked perfectly. Does everybody have an unlocked bootloader? COS12 worked ok, lagged when hot, only after I unlocked the bootloader did it all go to ****. I just hope it'll go back to normal on KK and it isn't a permanent thing now..

I have an unlocked bootloader and have moved from 11S to 12S and find its a lot better. I've seen people say they find the update better and some who have issues but your boot loader shouldnt really come into it. How did you update, what did you do since unlocking your bootloader?

Went with COS12 for a while, then tried a 5.1 rom and it started going down from there. COS12 lagged a lot when the phone was charging, it got very hot for a while, and then cooled down. I don't know why touchscreen issues started happening, it worked ok for some time after installing 5.1, then for instance the settings app started scrolling slowly, the notification panel as well, some touches stopped being registered.. It's a weird issue, because it's not lagging, like skipping or so, but mostly it feels like the phone is in slow motion.

Same happens to mine.
I flashed 3 different ROMs today, 5.1 and 5.0, it was working fine for a few hours with one of them but after that It started with serious problems, to the point of nearly not registering any touch. After a reboot it improved a bit but it makes the phone unusable. I'm flying abroad in less than 12hrs and really need the phone.
Flashing a stock ROM or going to kit kat are the only options I see now.
Edit: Here I found some useful post, they state it's hardware not software.

I am having the same severe issues as well.
The nightmare begun after the 05Q update.
Ever since that update, no matter what I've tried, the touch problem is here.
I've tried numerous Roms + kernels combinations with no use.
OP support was trying twice to reset my phone to full factory reset to both Oxygen & CM11s with no use.
That is so frustrating.
i have the same problem, but only when i go outside and the weather is nice
