[Q] restoring stock recovery - HTC Sensation

I installed Clockwork recovery so I could get rid of the Vodafone ROM and put on the generic 1.35.401.1 firmware.
This went fine, and I then put clockwork back on so I could root to use Titanium to restore my apps.
I would now like to restore the stock recovery, to prevent any charging issues and enable future OTA updates to work.
There is a recovery_signed.img in the rom.zip within the 1.35.401.1 RUU. Is this the correct file and is there a quick and easy (and 100% safe) way of getting the stock recovery back without affecting the rest of the phone?

Yes you can run stock rom with s-off and root access however I am not sure if OTA updates will still work. Even if they did work I would imagine you would lose root access once the OTA update has been applied.
So when I flash stock ruu.exe nothing happens with S-OFF neither root?
You will need the stock recovery to get OTA updates to install, they won't work with CWM
and with stock recovery I'll be able to create backups of installed roms? And how do I reinstall stock recovery?
thx
You can't backup with the stock recovery, no
Got it, thx.
And how do I install stock recovery?
Get it from an RUU, then flash it using fastboot commands
Android Recovery Manager
There is a much easier solution: Android Recovery Manager

A way to room without CWN or way to restore HTC stock

Is there a way to root without the change hboot and cwm?
If not is they a way to restore the stock hboot and recovery so as to be able to accept updates from HTC?
story to whom intersted
I previously used revelotionary to s-off and changed HBoot from 1.18.000 to 1.17.000 and installed cwm 4.x and installed su as the guide it was ok.
Later I needed to have an OTA update for the stock rom, so I used a stock rom rru and installed them updated everything ok, but I have problem with battery.
So either the stock rom is bad in power (radio 10.56.9035.00U_10.14.9035.01M, build 1.50.415.1) or need to clear the stats for the battery so need root.
If I use the make the default , I will lose ability to have updates unless go back to the old stock and so on....the problem that I need arabic native which have very few leaked roms so I have to go to a very old version.

What happens if you get OTA on a rooted phone?

I heard the phone gets unrooted with an OTA? So what happens to the apps that need root access? They stay there and start working fine when you root again or need to be reinstalled?
Do you lose data in the process when you install OTA update on a rooted phone?
if i remember correctly , it will not have OTA with rooted phone even with stock ROM.
by root , you must have change some system file , most case, flash CWM recovery and install superuser, which will effectively fail the OTA.
You will get the ota.
it will install perfectly normal if you still have stock recovery.
if you have custom recovery manually flash the update.zip Then flash su.zip. You're now stock rooted.

I have stock recovery and I do have some third party apps installed as system apps but I havent deleted any.
I'll think unless I am one of the first to get OTA I'll prolly be too impatient to wait for it anyways and flash through CWM. But will I lose data flashing through CWM? I have flashed stock roms through stock recovery when it was allowed in GB and never lost data but I wasnt rooted back then.

Be patient, stay rooted, soon after the release I am sure there will be a stock rom that you can flash via CWM,
You won't loose data.
You can flash official updates through cwm no problem. In fact that was the only way to do it manually after 4.0.3. Stock recovery would not allow manually flashing the update zip. Would end up in a error 7.
So it was either wait for the update to be pushed to your phone or flash it manually with a custom recovery

Oreo 2.31.400.6 Red triangle when boot to Recovery (how to get OTA)

Hi there !
I have U11 2.31.400 version
-Bootloader Unlocked
-TWRP installed
- Root with Masgik
Now i want get OTA update
-First, NO RUU, i tried Restore NANDoid backup and Flash stock recovery (same version)
-> Not work
-I tried flash stock Firmware ( got 35_RU_Partition_not_support firmware error)
Anyone can tell me how to got OTA with out RUU??
Hi there
I think we're in the same situation.
I also unlocked my phone, installed TWRP and Magisk on stock system and did a NANDroid Backup before doing so.
In order to get the OTA I restored stock recovery (which i had to extract from OTA, since i forgot to back it up) and started OTA.
--> Red Triangle!
Even after restoring stock NANDroid the OTA wouldn't install.
My mistake i think was that i didn't kept the stock system read only when i did the backup in twrp and swiped to allow modifications.
According to some threads here, even mounting the system r/w would break OTA functionality.
So since i also have no RUU for my device, i don't have the chance either to go back to stock. Maybe you did that mistake too.
The only way i can think of now, is to go temporary S-OFF, change CID and MID (to 401 international for example), flash Firmware and run the RUU for it.
But i'm not sure it'll still work after flashing the firmware.
Can anyone maybe confirm this way would work?
Thanks
Edit: Hi, in case you're still having this problem, here's a solution:
Reverting to stock

Installing system update with TWRP

So I decided to update my phone ot the latest version, but since I have TWRP installed when I downloading the update it reboots to TWRP, thinks for a second and then goes to the main menu. Never does the install. Anyway I can go about installing it or do I need to install the stock recovery? If so does anyone have a link to the stock recovery.
You need to be stock (not rooted) to take updates. You'll have to flash the phone back to the original firmware, take the updates and then decide if you're going to reroot. BTW just unroot in will not trick the system. You need to have an untouched system partition. If you unroot you'll still have a marked system. Only ruu can undo it.
If you are s-off or unlocked bootloader then don't change them. It's not necessary. If you have manually locked or relocked your bootloader I recommend unlocking it before you flash the firmware to avoid any problems later on.
Find the ruu in zip format and go from there.
