Help Required - Pattern Lock - HTC Desire S

Good morning Desire S users!
I work in a Mobile store, and a customer has set a pattern unlock on our display Desire S device. He has set it up so the device locks out for 30 seconds after 5 attempts.. So no Google Account unlock on the device!
Could anyone advise of a method to get around this problem?

Test to start in bootloader and use "factory reset". It should do it

[Q] forgotten pattern unlock

Have tried 50 times and I don't get a "forgot pattern" button! Any ideas? I have my google credentials and my pin just forgot the damn pattern...I'm rooted etc would rather the phone just ask me my password...[i.e. not looking for ADB hacks]
It can't just ask you a password. If you don't know the pattern then flash the factory image in fastboot and start over. You're probably going to lose everything on the phone because I bet the bootloader is locked too
Its supposed to ask for your google credentials:

Can't unlock your Android device
If you’ve made too many pattern attempts or forgotten your PIN or password, you can try other methods to unlock your Android device.
Sign in to your Google Account
For pattern passcodes only
If you set up a pattern passcode and made multiple attempts to unlock your device, you can touch Forgot Pattern and be prompted to enter your Google Account username and password. This will take you to the Security options in the main Settings menu, where you can reset your device’s password.

Anyways, tried Android Device Manager and it works great, just choose LOCK and you can enter a new pin. But definately a bug as it should ask you as their own FAQ says...
And my bootloader is unlocked but hey, as I said I preferred not to delete stuff with ADB if I could avoid it.

That page appears to not apply to the Nexus 5, it's not in the list for factory reset.
The OP probably just stole the Nexus 5 from some hapless idiot and you guys are falling over yourselves trying to help him access it.

If you're an optimist.

the OP (me) just happened to set pattern lock to try it out after using the same pin for years on every phone I have had, and promptly forgot it.
And I specifically said I was not looking for ADB commands to unlock it, which are freely available already...
Google doesn't have a Nexus 5 help page, they just have a Nexus devices help page. If the 'Forgot Pattern' button doesn't apply to a Nexus 5 they should say so...
And as I said in my second post I was able to unlock the phone using Device Manager (well, to set it back to pin unlock anyways, which then let me unlock it).
But let me sum up...
tl;dr

[Q] How to access data from locked s6, no wifi, no debugging

Model: SM - G920W8 (Canadian)
I recently purchased an s6 (1 month) and used the fingerprint scanner to secure the device. I made a backup password and made sure it worked and all was well until one day when it all of a sudden stopped working. Normally I leave Wifi on and could solve this issue but as to save battery I had disabled it this time around, silly me. So the fingerprint scanner denied my entry, led me to the backup password which also failed (even though it was correct) and then Wifi was off so Google verification did not work.
Being a new phone, I did not get a chance to turn on USB debugging (this happened 1 week after purchase) so using ADB to turn on wifi was of no use, it did not recognize the device.
Here is what I have tried to do to recover the data up till now:
>I used ODIN to install TWRP on the device.
>With TWRP enabled I made a backup of the data and attempted to connect to adb once again, Using my sisters Galaxy S6 I tested out whether hers worked, just to make sure everything was fine with the drivers and to make sure adb devices recognized her phone: it did.
>I ran ADB devices while in TWRP and it recognized my device, but came back OFFLINE, meaning no commands were able to run.
>I then attempted to run a series of drivers and to access files directly from windows 7 and did not have access permissions to read nor write, thus unsuccessful.
>I went back to ODIN and sought out a stock rom to flash to the partition in order to get access to the backup data i had created using TWRP, as there seems to be methods to flash a rom and maintain the backup data.
> With ODIN i tried this, but was unsuccessful, as it got stuck on "Nand Write start" and would not initialize any transfer with the phone . ( The download mode would not start the progress bar)
>Finally i tried to do it with TWRP but because i have no write permissions, i cannot put anything onto the device for it to run.
I called Samsung about this and they know of the issue and refuse to help me other than a useless factory reset. They knowingly allow users to continue using their fingerprint option for security but do not give warning of its issue, nor do they provide a simple fix like allowing wifi to be turned on from the lock screen. It is a shame that a company like this just allows a known software bug to bother users but doesn't make them aware of it, nor provides a temporary fix while they work on fixing the issue.
I am stuck, and need your help, I have done everything I can think of but can't get anywhere, please help me retrieve my data. Thanks
Wifi is off but how about 4G/LTE data?
If your 4g lte data is working you can use findmymobile(samsung site) and unlock it from there. There's an option to unlock your phone. I came across this issue last month.

Yeah LTE is also off, otherwise google login would have worked.
I can access the WiFi toggle from the lockscreen without having unlocked the phone via FP - although I'm not locked out the phone so wondering if being locked out stops you gaining access to the notification drawer as well

i have the same problem what to do now i dont want to lose data and my s6 edge is not recognising my fingerprint rather asking for a backup password and i forgot the backup password so the wifi or mobile data is switched off and i cant even turn it on what to do now?????
I have the same problem...agree completely "They knowingly allow users to continue using their fingerprint option for security but do not give warning of its issue, nor do they provide a simple fix like allowing wifi to be turned on from the lock screen. factory reset is "the only way" to unlock it. Lazy samsung customer service response.
logging in via google is not an option on S6 / new android system anymore so if you forget your pin you're stuffed
this is really poor on samsung behalf to not give warning of the seriousness of using a fingerprint scanner
ha I can't remember (and can't check now) but does it even ask for the pin twice to verify what you entered what was intended?
google use to have a device pin reset but it was removed recently.
I bet heaps of people have this issue.
I am desperate for a solution...
I just registered to help future users having the same problem.
Guys I spent around 15 hours trying to unlock my samsung galaxy s6, and found a solution. You're wellcome because you need google acc+dont need a connection for this to work (worst case scenario).
It didnt recongnize my fingerprints, and my backup password didnt work. I couldnt sign in to my google account since my wifi and mobile data was turned off before the device locked.
This is the solution i found AFTER 15 hours of this madness, you need to be quick:
1) enter wrong backup password 5 times
2) wait 30 secounds countdown
3) enter wrong backup password 5 times
4) wait 30 secounds countdown
5) select sign in with google account
6) enter google account credentials (DONT SIGN IN YET)
7) hold 'wake up button' (home button)
8) press emergency mode and go thru with aggreeing to all it asks you to
9) press TURN ON, and after that press 'sign in' with your google account (where step 6 left off)
If you were quick enough, you will enter emergency mode and you will pass the lock screen, now quit the emergency mode the same way and change your backup password, and write it down this time so this doesnt happen again. You are wellcome.
Thank you, that happened on 4th try, "quick enough" is the key. It appears that it turns on WiFi and mobile data for fraction of a second during the process.
yeah i seen that for a fraction of seconds wifi turns on but how should i unlock i am not done please please help me i dont want to lose my imp data
THANK YOU!!!

HTC Evo 3D has a locked screen from incorrect pattern input

Hi guys, I have a problem. My friend has a pattern lock on his HTC Evo 3d and someone kept trying to unlock it. They have successfully locked him out of his phone. The phone asks for his google account and password now whenever we try to unlock it. He has no connectivity whatsoever enable, both mobile data and WiFi are switched off and I cant access the notifications panel. Also, he doesn't have a Google account. I tried to follow a Youtube video on how to delete the file responsible for the pattern lock (some "gesture.key" file) using an SD card but I hit a snag when trying to access the recovery menu of the phone. It shows me a symbol of the phone with a red exclamation mark and just stops there, a couple of minutes later, the phone restarts and takes me back to the lock screen, so basically, I can't access the recovery menu of the phone; It may not have either stock or custom recovery installed on it perhaps?
Please can you guys help me work around this. Any help would be appreciated. I'm just trying to help my buddy unlock his phone without factory resetting it and losing all this data (no, his phone isn't backed up at all). Thank you.

Face Unlock and Fingerprint no longer available for unlocking phone

So my Dad uses a Galaxy Note 10 Plus. He works at a high level judiciary position i cant mention, so information stored on his phone are govt. classified stuffs. Security is very vital.
He is almost 70 , so memorising pins and password is not his thing.
Therefore he uses Face Unlock/Face ID feature and Fingerprint scanner for unlocking phone and securing his apps.
But this morning, for God knows what reason, his phone can ONLY by unlocked via GESTURE PATTERN.
The thing is, Dad never uses gesture pattern, he must have set it when he first recieved the phone from the govt. He doesnt recall the gesture anymore.
All the officials have been trying their luck with the gesture unlock to no avail.
He needs to recover his phone data fast.
Is there a way for him to unlock his phone using face ID, fingerprint, or even email authorisation or something like that??
As far as I know, after you've tried many times, you will get a messages "Forgot pattern" on the lower left corner of your lock screen. Touch Forgot pattern and enter Google Account info to clear the lock.
Just hope he can still remember the password for the google account!
Just keep on trying until the phone starts asking you for the account (mail) and it's password.
Use the account data (password) to unlock the phone.
It is possible that his employer has the phone under MDM (Mobile Device Management). That is very common on mobile devices that access secure information from an employer. It allows them to control settings on the phone. If so, they may be the ones that changed the settings and they also may be able to unlock the phone.

Question Default password? Also conundrum

Hi XDA peoples. I come to you in times of great need, and to satisfy your curiosity.
Recently, my mother enabled biometrics on her discover banking app, specifically face ID. However, this enabled face unlock on the entire phone and, in doing so, set a password for the phone. Note, there was no password or any other authentication on this phone before - completely open device. Now she is completely locked out of the device due to the default security settings requiring a password every 4 hours. Remote unlock is disabled, so there is no hope of that working.
Now, my question is this: is there a password that the device would automatically apply if needed? And if so, does anybody know what it is?
Thanks.
Device is a T-mobile S21+, 8G RAM 128GB Storage.
I appreciate all help.
