I cant get the gtalk video chat to work.
My friend try to video chat me, but i do not receive the invitation to answer the call, i can hear is ring (he's just beside me) .. like i do not receive anything from the caller.
If i try to call him.. he receive my invitation and answer, then the screen goes blank with my cam on right corner (the same for him with his camera).. but nothing more.. again i do not seem to receive a confirmation or something like that..
Anyone is able to use gtalk video chat ?
Yes. I'm running on Prime 1.6 (android 3.1)
I hacked my G2x to use the video feature and used it last night. My G2x using 3G and my TF using WiFi.
Asus Transformer 3.1 pwnd
www.MiiWiiChat.com
www.SnapSiteAdmins.com
i had no problems running it on my stock 3.2
Ive tried plenty on mine, several roms and stock, it always works. sorry for the question but, have you checked if you had enabled video and voice in gtalk?

Also, is either an apps account. My apps account wouldn't work on the tablet

Ithink my tf101 might vhe an issue here.
My friend does not have the problem, he reveive my call, but the handshake is not complete due to my tf101

Thanks i was using two account on my gtalk. I deleted one, and used the other for test purpose on my pc and now i can engage discussion from one side or another.
It looks like the account i'm using on the pc (a hotmail account) was not working on android, i don't know why but now it works that way :
My true gmail / gtalk account on android, the hotmail/gtalk on my pc.
Thanks for you all.
Cool. I had to switch to my old gmail account for talk. I had been sycning with my apps account and it worked in the browser plugin but not the application. Hopefully Google will get off their collective asses and create the security tools for their apps accounts so I can do everything with it.
I have stock 3.1.
I cant make gtalk video chat to anyone but some of my friends can call me and i can accept there calls. It works fine if the video is started from there side (running windows 7).

thrown a bit of time tonight at find more info on this to no avail...seems a lot of questions but not many answers.
my question is: with a working version of QIK is there a way to chat to PC's? with Yahoo or something?
I would imagine its a contact setup thing but even QIKs site (which was the final place i checked) seems ambiguous on this one.
I believe the new Yahoo messenger has that ability....havent tried so cant say.
ya u r so right, new version yahoo imvideo can able this.i have tried
Yup. Confirmed. Yahoo video chat works. The only 2 apps for video chat pc-phone/phone-pc are MOVICHA and yahoo video. A great phone to phone is TANGO available on the market.

Skype did just acquire QIK so maybe they'll work the programs together.

Can you either please explain how you accomplished this or lead me in the direction to a walk through.
Posting here for anyone who camps Roe's threads (like me) lol
(pre cursor- uninstall google voice first, I didn't have it installed but some people did)
Steps I took
on my evo fully installed voice (switched roms recently didn't have it installed)
used Titanium to back up the app
Copied the 3 files to my titanium folder on the g tab
Restored the app
Lauched google voice. Got to where it said configure inbox then went back back back back to exit
inbox popped right up.
YMMV
Thanks for the confirmation!!! Looks like I finally have a serious reason to root my N1, I feel so behind the times.
Are you saying that should I do this, I'd be able to text from my GTab?
If so, please elaborate. I've never used Google Voice, but will if I can text from my tab. That'd be crazy awesome.
(Got a HTC Hero CDMA, rooted, stock ROM. GTab is running TnT 2.2, if any of that matters.)
Google Voice update
After yesterdays (12/8/10) update to GV. The entire app almost works now on the G-Tab. You can even "skip" the voicemail setup and get it working about 90%...just no VOIP calling yet
Ok. I'll download that from the market. Do I sign up online with my existing cell number?
How did you skip the VM setup... I couldn't skip this after the update...
thx
***nevermind --- I re-read the 1st post... :]
Works just as described. Texting works like a charm. Thanks.
No real work is required to get this up and running. Just install Google Voice via the marketplace and run it. I already had a Google Voice account, and when prompted I just told the setup program that the G-Tablet was my home phone or something. No problem texting or listening to voice mail.
Does anybody have voice calling on the G-Tab through SIP?

Some reason I can receive txt, but can't send from the tablet. Any suggestions?
i search "google voice" in market, but couldn't find application. anybody experience the same?
Moved to general
Is there an .apk that works on gTablets for video chat? The camera on my unit does not have much use without the app. Would appreciate the APK and/or hack directions.
There is TANGO, I have it installed on my gtab but have yet to use it because no one on my contacts has video chat capabilities.
Thanks, but...
I need a video chat app that works with PCs as well as mobile devices, Tango only works with mobile phones (right now anyway).
Any othersolutions out there?
Search for "reelportal" in themes forum.
Jim
Yahoo msg app works, with the video add on.
No problem using yahoo with video attachment for me.

Feedback/update
Yahoo Messenger looks promising (I need to sign up the rest of the family in order to have someone to video chat with). But both the application and the video add-on were in my version of Market.
Reelportal's application is a challenge because I cannot download the Adobe AIR 2.5.1; it's not inmy Market and the hyperlink in the posting does not offer an ".apk" file - just all the other OS options.
Also, for those that may be wondering: on yahoo messenger, even though your screen shows you facing sideways on the G-Tab, the other viewer is able to see you facing the correct direction, so don't worry.

Hi,
I was looking for a video chat app awhile ago, and that (sideways video) was what I found with Yahoo Messenger. That was why I suggested reelportal, which multiple folks tried/tested, per that thread in the "Themes" forum.
Jim
Sideways video is fixed if you are using the g-sensor fix. The fix is already part of roms like TNT lite and Vegan.

You can download AIR here:

Hope that helps.
When I use yahoo messenger, it does not recognize incoming calls. When I call another user, they do not see any incoming calls. Anyone else experiencing this?
Tried oovoo and fring, nothing but static.
Yep, Yahoo doesn't always connect and just hangs up. The few times it connected the audio didn't work and just made a bunch of clicking noise. Using TnTLite 4.2.4. I tried Fring and it just locks up. OOVOO can't see the camera and just hangs up even on voice calls. Basically, nothing works so far. Seems to be some kind of audio driver bugs or the apps aren't using it right.

As Jim suggested, perhaps try ReelPortal. Many had it working fine. If I recall correctly, one person was able to video conference between the gTab with 3 other PCs. Here's the thread:

If you have questions, feel free to contact me.

Bingo. Most of them like tango and fringe do not utilize native code correctly making it a nightmare to use.

Odd, I'm using TNT Lite (4.2.1 I think), and I still get the sideways view on Yahoo Messenger. It doesn't bother me any though since, like I said, the viewer sees me the correct way.
Has anyone had a chance to try Xoom to Xoom Google Talk Video Chat to see if there have been any improvements?
Prior to the upgrade, the video quality wasn't good and the voice was getting cutoff even if using a headset. If either one was using a PC it worked fine.
My other friends with Xooms aren't around since I got the upgrade so I haven't had a chance to try it. I'm looking for others who've had a chance to use it for some feedback. Thanks.
just check urself with a computer, if u have 2 gmail accounts
on ur comp, install the google video gmail plugin, den login to gmail frm comp
n den send video chat invite from comp to xoom, or xoom to comp, either way
1 thing i wud like 2 know is, how to chat n video at the same time, without the video pausing every time u wanna chat

I don't see any improvement since its an application that hasn't been updated for a bit, and it's the same version from before the update. I use it quite a bit from xoom to xoom and xoom to pc.
Only problem im having with the Talk app is force closes while doing group chats

I used to use syncsms and while it was good it sometimes would just not work, and it utilized dropbox which I wasn't a fan of. This is awesome and uses google chat or email. All I did was create a new gmail just for this purpose and keep google talk logged into it on my tablet. Just wanted to share the wealth and all props goes to Koush who also developed RomManager, man that guy is awesome.
i love this app with the Chrome extension, but found that it was cluttering up my gchat contact list with people's phone numbers as contacts. To fix I set the app to only send emails and filter them in Gmail. I like the idea of setting up a separate email address to handle that issue.
I take it you have to side load on the TF? Market shows incompatible for TF but good for my N1
You install the app on your phone, then i use google talk to receive the messages on the transformer. The app just forwards the messages

Ah OK, got it thanks.
I use textab for this feature. Works very well.
I dont like using Bluetooth, and this way they don't need to be near eachother to work in case I forget my phone
TextTab does work well when I was using the beta, only thing I wish it did was enable upon boot. I always forget to enable it after phone or tablet boot up.
I use SynSMS except like mentioned it's not always reliable.
I like this DeskSMS so far. I can get rid of Mighty Text and SyncSMS and replace with one app.
Also with this as with SyncSMS, I can leave my phone home and on while out of the country and still get my SMS.
I use the google voice app on my transformer. It is the same as on my ATRIX. I can text and read and listen to voicemails.

what SMS client to I install to my tablet?
So the app can send sms, eh - that somehow worries me.
I just use google talk on my tablet to get the messages and you can respond through gtalk also

Nothing is install on the tablet, it forward your sms to Google Talk.
It work for me at first but now it does not forward amy sms to my google talk.
It does sync with my Chrome extension
mine still works, I also have the google talk desktop program and get it through there too
So if i use google voice there's no reason to use this right?
nope..not really
edit: as long as you sideload google voice onto the tablet

Yeah I have a seperate email address, but the thing is i have to log out of my main account to use desksms which seems annoying as everything google is the phone's email and i have nothing but email setup. how did you setup your filters?
