[Q] My mobile and wifi network has slowed down on cynagenmod 7.03 - HTC Inspire 4G

NEED SOME HELP.... Im currently running Cyanogenmod 7.03 and iv noticed some problems. Since i flashed this rom my wifi connection has been abit slower and so has my mobile network speeds. Ive done a speed test and i get around 8 or 9 down, i used to get 13-14 on wifi, and 1-3 up, i used to get 4-5 up. On my mobile network iv noticed dramatic changes. I used to get around 4-5 down and 1-2 up but now i get 1-2 down and less than 1 up. Im thinking that Cyanogenmod 7.03 doesnt support hspa+, but iv looked through the forums and it supposedly does....any help would be much appreciated.

What radio are you using? If you haven't flashed a new radio since rooting you need to. CM7 supports HSPA+, but you need to be using a proper radio&ril combo.

Im using the same radio that i had before cm7. Is there any radio you recommend? Thanks.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App

The one in my sig is the one that is recommended for CM7, you can check to see what one you have by going to Settings>About Phone>Baseband version

Mine is 12.28b.60.140eP_26.03.02.26_M
Should i install anothet?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App

Yeah. That's the downgraded radio from the rooting process.
Also you should check your apn settings from henrybravos thread

Thanks for the advice... should i also install another kernel? Will it help in speeding up my phones networks..etc?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App

It's not 100% necessary but I highly recommend the LordModUE kernel. You will definitely notice performance gains.

Ok thanks for all the help jake and marsdta.

I just bricked my phone trying to flash a new radio, but luckily i had a backup. So i just took the battery out and restored it =]. Soooo i think i know what went wrong... i had all the files but i think i messed up on the flashing part.... can anyone tell me if i had to unzip the file then put it in the sdcard as update.zip? Or put it in the sdcard still zipped and from recovery choose the install from sdcard? Plz help and thanks.

Niether. From the radio sticky in the development section
How to install:
Radio - Download the PD98IMG.zip file. Place this file on the root of your SD card. Reboot to bootloader. When prompted, press the Volume Up button to install. Then reboot.

So i did everything and all was a success. I installed ril, lordmod kernel, puv script. But when i tried to install the radio it would abort the installation.... i did as he said but it didnt work.... should i take fast boot off? Where is it on cm7, its not where it usually is with the unknown devices.

Cm doesn't have fastboot, well atleast that I know of. Never seen a setting for it. Are you flashing the radio through hboot and not cwr right?
No Hay de Queso No Mas de Papa

+1, install radio through bootloader mode, not recovery mode. Make sure the radio zip file is named PD98IMG.zip and located in the root of your sd card.

Please for the love of all that is pure. STOP!!!!!!! take some time to read about what your doing before you end up with a pile of junk that cant be fixed or returned.

CM7 question on Nexsus S

Quick questions. 1. Just got my Nexsus S Saturday; coming from iPhone 4, and I have managed to root and installed CM 7 build 150 nightly and want to know. Do I have to do a complete wipe every time a new nightly comes out? Or can I just update? I have done the backup of my ROM the very first time and have actually backed up my ROM twice just be safe.
Other question maybe someone knows is, anyone using the Nexsus S on AT&T? Want to know if adjusting the build.prop files to speed up the download and upload speeds works? Reason is my I phone's download up load are much faster than the Nexsus S. Would like to at least match the speeds to my iPhone. Thanks.
Sent from my GT-P7510 using XDA Premium App
Between nightlys you don't have to wipe. If they are changing the kernel (or you're experience other problems) wiping cache and dalvik cache might be necessary (in case of "other problems" fixing permissions in cwm recovery might also help).

I have no experience with AT&T radios, maybe this link will help you: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116884

I just installed the KD1 radio on my Nexus S and now my upload speed is uncapped. not as good as my iPhone 4, but now I am getting 1.9 - 2.8 download and upload .83-.99.
This is without any mod to the build.prop file. Don't if i should try it.
I might have take back my Nexus S back to Best Buy since I am getting the bug where the find button goes crazy without touching it.

What do you get on your iPhone 4?
You can always add the build.prop very easily. Once you change that file and save it a back up is created automatically.

On my iPhone 4 I normally get from 2.0 - 3.0 and sometimes as much as 3.3 download. Upload is always 1.2 and 1.5 unless I'm at home which is around .80.
Which radio are you using? Also what settings you end up using for the build.prop file? Did you just add them at the end if the file and rebooted twice? Will test out once I see what settings you used and radio.
I'm having a really bad issue with the search key going off in its own. Now it does more since i changed over the KD1 radio.

OK thanks will check the radio thread must of missed it. I thought you had KB3? Also I went ahead installed the KB3 Radio and wow. Overall getting 2.8 down but the upload is low in the .30. this is of course without adding anything to the build.prop file.

And have u found a particular radio and/or kernel that works best for u with V.U.? And one last thing, u don't have to do a full wipe to upgrade to the beta version or no? Thank u so much again! :')

With the beta they're using a new base, so a full wipe is required. They're asking that you stick with the stock kernel during beta phase so they can track bugs a little better. I'm currently using 12.56.60.25x_26.10.04.03_M with the .0153 radio and getting awesome speeds and quick GPS locks

Well if you backed up first it won't be too difficult. Pull your battery, then put the battery back in and boot to HBoot (Vol+ and PWR), choose Recovery, choose backup and restore, and restore to your backup.
Or make sure you do a full wipe (Factory reset, wipe data, wipe system, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache) and try flashing the ROM again (but if it's a bad download you'll probably just bootloop again)
Or if you don't have a backup and the ROM still isn't working, then you need to get a different ROM on your SD. You can do this by putting the SD in a card reader, or booting to recovery, going to mounts/storage, and choose Mount USB Storage. Your computer will recognize it, put your ROM on the SD, select "Unmount" from recovery, now flash the new ROM
If you happen to have a PD98IMG.zip on your SD you're gonna need to get that off before any of this will work though, cause Bootloader will just continually try to flash that. Easiest way to do that is pull the SD until you select Recovery from HBoot, then reinsert the SD. Or else you'll need to get a card reader or another device that will read your SD, delete the PD98IMG.zip, reinsert the SD to your device, boot to recovery, flash away
Thanks for all the input. I did have that file so i pulled the card so i could get back into recovery & did a nandroid restore & deleted it. It wad a bad download too. So i downloaded it again from a different link & it came in 2 zips, one 390mb & the other like 10mg so i did a full wipe again & when i flashed it said cant read sd again & failed. Both zips. So restored again & here i am running great but w/o beta. Any suggesions?

Example.
I don't know if anyone has an Acer a500 but in the market they have a premium app called Acer recovery. That APP downloads/flashes roms, recovery files, themes, kernels, fixxes, and other needs that is what I would like to do for this device.

you can create whatever you like, it has been tried before, but the de-facto happens to be rom manager.
i would go out on a limb by saying that 85% of flashing is done via downloading the rom zip to the phone and booting into recovery. its kind of what people have been bred to do at this point. rom manager doesnt work well every time, so creating something unique would be a hard niche to snag
Yea I agree I use Rom manager only for a couple of roms back with the incredible but all ways wanted something else.. that I can grab links from the net. Id like to do an app that would do webhosting with updated regularly updated Roms, kernels, radios, themes you know how it is checking xda and Rom manager for stuff it gets tedious and would be great for a app that gives u everything with a push of the button of course is have to find help for such an app great idea ill start development as soon as I can.

Got to agree with PG. I even tell people that use certain rom's to avoid rom manager as it doesn't always work. As for another app of this sort, the hard part is getting the Dev to update it. Mainly sense you can't just add everything without asking permission from each of the dev for the rom, theme, kernel, ext.

[ROM][SENSE] [2.3.3] Namit1994's Gingerbread Sense v1 SFM1.2 Base

What's up guys. I ported SFM 1.2 over to our 32B devices.
Requirements:
1. Any SPL
2. 96MB+ Swap
3. EXT4 sdcard partition
4. cMTD 175
How to Install:
1. Download Every file from here: http://www.mediafire.com/?0mexmgvmz1vm6
2. Flash cMTD Setup and reboot
3. Flash GingerSense ROM
4. Flash farmarito's gingerbread kernel: http://www.multiupload.com/0SJ77OM4HA
5. Flash cMTD Patch
Notes:
1. Setup will take FOREVER. Do not use your phone once it boots up, let it sit for about 20 minutes.
2. In /data/tweaks you will find a bunch of settings. To make it faster, edit Minfree file and type in yes and reboot
3. In /data/tweaks edit swappiness to change the swap value. It is high, set to 85, change to anything between 1-100 if you want and then reboot. You might experience slowness or more speed. To change those settings to default, go to recovery and wipe data.
is it fully working?
