I have read most if not all threads about charging problems and wrong version of CWM being installed etc.
I too suffered from the dead battery and not charging routine, and that was on the revolutionary cwm (blue lettered one) installed at time of S-OFF.
Ok, nuked it and installed new cwm the orange lettered 4.0.1.4. same deal when battery went flat. Read some more on XDA and conflicting info abounds .
Downloaded the "new" working one (which happens to be a blue one again) , also version 4.0.1.4, and same deal, didn't work on flat battery.
Installed 4.0.1.5 and that didn't work either.
So i suspect a cwm version works for some and not for others or in my case no version works. I now just make sure i have a fully charged spare battery or never let my phone go flat.
If someone has what they believe is a tried and tested working version of CWM I am willing to try it.
My sensation is the Z710a, not sure if the "a" model is affected differently to the "e" model.
I went away this weekend and my battery died, I had the Orange-colored CW (original 4.0.1.4 version). Couldn't recharge it at all, so what I did was download the new 4.0.1.4 (blue-colored, not the old purple-colored version) from this thread, first post. I jump-started the phone by hooking up a stripped USB cable power leads to the +/- battery contacts in the phone, stuck the battery in and taped everything up nice and tight.
Booted up the phone normally, copied the latest recovery zip to the sdcard, and rebooted into fastboot to flash. Gotta be extremely careful when flashing, because the whole time the USB leads are the only thing powering the phone so if they slip off when reflashing you'll brick the phone.
With the new CW the battery started charging right away after disconnecting the jump leads, and after about 5 minutes could be powered on normally. As far as I can tell the recharge problem is now fixed.

At The Beginning
I have a Cingular 8125 G3. I first began flashing new roms onto my phone 4 months ago after I unlocked it using "the definitive guide to unlocking phone" by DrDot. Everything went smoothly.
The Start of the Problem
A couple days ago, I was running the TNT 1933 with CoolCamera. SUDDENLY, my phone started to reset itself everytime I went on the internet, or downloaded emails.
The Attempted Fix
I decided to flash my phone to another rom, so I began by flashing it back to 1.05 rom that you use in "the definitive guide to unlocking phone" by DrDot, before flashing it to a better rom.
The Final Finally
In the middle of the udate process (for the 1.05 rom), my computer screen said, an error occured, and to redo the update. When I looked at my phone, it started to blink on the 3 color bars. It kept blinking until it died. Now it cannot read a charge or turn on. I tried leaving it on my charger overnight, hoping it would charge, and nothing (not even the charge light on the phone would go on. I also made sure the phone charger was fine, which it is. I even tried to charge it on the usb cable, and occassionally I see the 3 color bars flash). My phone is bricked.
buy a new battery and then flash a new rom
It is not bricked
I will try that

Okay, I'll try that. I'll let you know tonight.
keep in mind that when you are in bootloader mode (tri-color screen) the phone cannot be charged, this is why you should always have a 50% battery level when you flash a rom. A new battery should definately fix it, id flash it with a manufacturers rom that is known to work like the wizard love or t mobile 2.26
Everything is good thanks
I put a new battery in there and it is fine now. Thanks. How can I delete this thread? It is pointless now.
bringing the emty battery UP again with home tools
Please note that the following is highly experimental and if you consider to use the following "workaround" it is TOTALLY AT YOUR OWN RISK and i can not be held responsible for damages caused to your hardware or to yourself!!!!!
I had the same issue 2 times till now, what i made:
i took a USB cable (like the normal one i use for the wizard to connect it to the pc), cut off the mini usb jack. There are 4 wires in the cable we need the black one and the red one. The red goes to the + of the battery and the black goes to the - of the battery (on my battery the + and the - are marked), if on some batteries there are no marks for + and - you can use multi zet tool to check. The next thing is to put the cable in a free usb on the pc and the wires on the battery. Its quite difficult to find out the right place and position for charging the battery this way - but you actually need to charge it this way not more than 5-10 mins. Then you can boot normally and continue charging the "right" way. Use your old battery again. Thats all...
Regards
I'm scared that I may have lost one
I rooted with z4root, which seemed to go well. I downloaded rom manager (paid version) and flashed cwm. I had some trouble booting into cwm so i did a little investigating and ended up downloading bootstrapper as well. After enabling boot strapper I was able to get into CWM and do a nandroid backup.
I downloaded and flashed to newest CM nightly (8 I believe), and my phone seemed to be happy (it did want to power cycle when I was signing on to my google account at first, but after skipping the step in the set up wizard of the phone and just adding the account after it worked fine.).
I went to bed and did not plug the phone in. I woke up and saw that it was on still and proceeded to play a video game. I heard it beep across the room an hour later (no one around it) and figured it was getting low on battery since it had not been charged. When I picked it up to check the time, it would not start up. I have pulled the battery several times, tried to boot into cwm to flash my back up (could only get into the factory recovery), and I seem to be getting less and less response as time progresses. My power button doesn't seem to be producing any effect now and I can only get the screen to come up and display the big moto "m" if I plug the phone into a charging dock. I did charge my battery in my brothers OG droid since I heard that it wont charge the battery if it doesn't start up.
I'm by no means an expert, but I've had very successful rooting experiences with my Dinc (even soft bricked my Dinc, had a heart attack, then brought it back from the brink with help from this web site), a Thunderbolt, and a couple of fascinates. Never imagined a nightmare like this. Best part is this D2 is a loaner from my boss while I wait for my Charge to come in the mail!
Any help would be immensely appreciated.
ps. The only oddball variable that I can think of in this mix is that I'm using my micro SD card from my Dinc which had at least one nandroid left on it (which I deleted in Rom manager). I wonder if rom manager (or me... most likely me) got confused and possibly tried to flash cm7 for the Dinc from my SD card. User error, the story of my life.
try plugging the phone into a wall charger and leave it for a while. the charge window will come up
Yeah, battery power seems to be the simple answer to my power button not being responsive. I hijacked my brother's battery and my D2 powered up to the "M" screen and froze with just the power button press, or will boot into stock recovery (holding X on the keyboard while depressing the power after a battery pull), though I don't seem to be able to do anything effective from there. My battery is currently in my brothers droid charging as I continue to look for a solution/hope for more leads from this thread. Being able to consistently get a response from the phone is a step in the right direction though.
Have you tried powering up the phone into bootloader? That'd be a quick way to know if your data is corrupt. I went through that whole process last week. Only thing is that your battery can't charge in bootloader so make sure your battery isn't low.
Sent from my DROID2 using XDA App
If you're talking about holding the X key and power, then yes. This will bring me to the stock recovery menu. If there's an action that can be preformed from the stock recovery that will help me, I'm unaware of it. I know from cwm I would have the option to restore from a back up that I made (I have a stock back up and a back up from as soon as I got the phone up and running with a cm nightly rom).
I'm hoping that when I plug the phone into my computer it will be recognized. I read the instructions on how to run rsdlite here and aside from being able to navigate my phone menus to put it into usb mode, I should be able to take care of everything else. So now my real questions are; If my computer sees my device, is running the rsdlite program my best solution, and what's the next step if my computer does not see my phone?
try this
your phone will gharge if you put it in bootloader mode i know because ive done it now if you phones rom is jacked then flash it back to stock with rsd lite you can get the a955 stock rom from here this web site or my droid world also it will work there is noting wrong with your phone take care chris
Hey guys, i've done the search button and still can't find any answers. First of all, all i've done to my phone : S-off, superuser, root. No custom ROM installed. i did that 2days prior yesterday and it was working and charging fine. So yesterday when i was playing paradise island my phone died. I connected it to the USB wall charger and left my room. After 3-4hrs, my phone is still dead. So i thought maybe the USB or wall charger is not working. I tried using my cousin Mytouch wall charger with the htc USB, still doesnt work but using my wallcharger with the mytouch usb, my cousin's phone charges.
When i try to charge my phone, the amber light comes on but its flashing, then after 3 times, light will stop
Troubleshooting i've done
I've tried numerous times to go to HBOOT, nothing
Removed the battery several times, nothing
tried USB charging through my laptop nothing.
Any help guys??
Same issue!
Please help with this!!
CMW
If you search you'll find that there is a problem and after installing CMW Recovery most phones will not charge if they're off, so if you let your battery drain to the last you will be unable to charge your battery trought the phone, no solution at this moment for this
Work arounds
- Charge your battery on a wall charger directly not trought the phone
- Charge your battery on an stock untouched Sensation

Wallcharger, is there one i can purchase??
Is the battery itself the problem?? because t-mobile, will sent me a new battery. I've only had this phone for 3 weeks. IF the battery itself not the problem, they will send me a new phone but i'm assuming that i've going to have to send the old phone back, is there going to be an issue regarding the warranty when i send the old phone to them???
it's not the battery, it's the cmw what's the problem. You have an older version of cmw.
I see, where to get the latest CWM? There's a way to go back to stock right?
Now i kinda regret S-OFF,ROOt, CWM ...lol..-.- i know it's my fault tho...
Once you managed to boot the phone again, you can install rom manager, from there you can easily install the latest cmw.
i have the latest CMW Still doesn't charge when battery at 0%
You would think they would test CMW before releasing....

I used CWM 4.0.1.4. From what i know its suppose to fix the charging problem. As of right now, im trying to manually charge my battery by splitting on of my old USB cable +wall charger. So hopefully this will work.
None of the threads in the entire forum are even remotely helpful if you can't even get the phone to turn on.
I can't reflash the recovery - if there is no way for me to get into the bootloader.
A wall charger hasn't helped - nor my N1 battery taped in.
NOTHING.
Please stop jumping a million steps ahead to reflashing the recovery - start with HOW TO TURN THE PHONE ON - bearing in mind that NOTHING IN THE FORUM so far has worked.

I've been using my brothers G2 battery (which doesn't fit) to turn on my phone.
But since I don't have a universal charger, and my phone wont turn on (I tried EVERYTHING) than there is no point to attempt to get into recovery unless I'm going back to stock.
Tl;DR CWM Needs to fix there shhhhhheeeet.
I finally manage to turn on my fone by splitting my old usb cable...i know somone said, its dangerous but it work for me....so do it at your own risk....now im juz looking for a safe wayto revert to stock w/o cwm, root, super user....might keep S-off tho
Any suggestion
If u need to start you fone....get a spare usb cable...and split it..remove the battery from your fone. Now tape the red wire to positive and black to negative....attach the usb to ur wall charger.....then wait 10- 20 min. Now remove ur battery then insert it back to you phone and turn it on. Once it starts, connect it to ur htc usb+ wallcharger.... once again, someone said its dangerous....so make this your last resort

Yeah. That didn't work for me. After splitting two cables - I decided to cut my losses.
Unfortunately I'm not in the US - and that's where I bought the phone. I'm going to try and find and independent vendor and see if they have a battery I can buy.
If not - I am ROYALLY screwed.
Yeah the battery/cwm combo is ****ed. So angry.
Do you have the one with the blue text? It's supposed to fix these issues
Swyped from my HTC Sensation
Sorry to revive this thread, but I am in the same boat. After trying to flash android on my brother's hd2, I noticed that the battery died. I cannot charge it since it has no ROM currently installed... Has there been a fix?
Hey so i recently rooted, im boot loader unlocked S-ON, flashed the boot.img and am running CM9 alpha 4 on my double shot.
however as of yesterday, all it does is keep blinking an orange light and and not charging, the few times i have been able to turn it on it shows 0 - 4 % battery.
i was running CWMR the latest version but i read another similar thread that was resolved and flashed stock recovery i think, i cant turn it on to check currently :/
Checked for similar threads nothing could really help.
If you have no juice to experiment, you will need a different battery thats charged in order to work with it.
Try leaving it on the on the charger for little while. Sometimes the batteries take a while to accept a charge. My Anker will take quite a while for it to start showing charge if I ran it all the way down.
Barring that get another battery and the standalone charger such as the Anker battery two pack.
Hastily spouted for your befuddlement
make sure that Tis not your charger. Did you try charging with a different charger.
Ok well i still have my broken phone(the one i have no is the warranty one i got from them, didnt send the old broken one back yet), and ive put the battery in there to charge before the problem seems to be this.
The phone isn't charging while its off. It can charge while turned on however at a VERY VERY slow rate. ive read on some thread that CWM recovery might be to blame due to a fastboot thing?

This was a known bug with the old Madaco recovery, is that the one you are using? If so, update to the latest one from rom manager in the market.
No im using the 5.0.2..7( i think something around there) CWM, finally charged the battery up, and it went from 100% - 88 like that* snaps fingers* , trying to calibrate the battery to see if that helps but the voltage is almost 4200 mv and the percentage is decreasing... so i might just flash stock, flash stock recovery lock boot loader then just see if i can warranty it...
ok so im working on a nexus 5. i was already all too aware of the potential power button issue so that was the 1st thing i checked out, ive cleaned it twice now and made dbl damn sure i can feel it both click in and click out when being pressed.
on top of that i can boot into twrp both temp boot and flashing recovery for it. it does not cut off when in twrp (as i imagine it would if it were the power button being stuck)
previously i could not boot into twrp or flash anything at all so i ordered and installed a breand new battery.. now i can flash twrp via fastboot (progress right?)
however when it is powered off, on teh charger it shows the battery full with lightening bolt, then that fades and is replaced with a hollow battery being filled, then goes black and starts over... leading me to believe its not taking any charge in..
ive tried stock 7.1.1, stock 7.0.1, stock 6.0.1, cyanogenmod 14 and even ran the NRT by Wugs... i have wiped everything, i formatted data and made sure the partition was correct pre-flashing by running NRT to return stock values n such, i have also tried different approachs to flashing. fastboot flash system, adb sideload, twrp install zip and NRT...
with my small (yet excessive) experience so far with android im led to believe this is being caused by some sort of conflict inside the system memory, it almost has a rythym to when it cuts off, like when it hits block such n such it goes "OUCH DAMMIT" and retreats for safety (powering off)
you'll have to forgive me for starting a new thread, the only info i can find pertains to the power button which i am fairly confident it is NOT, and after hours of searching tonight alone im really not for diffing thru every thread, i did however do a quick search prior to posting....
Where did you get the battery? Tried different USB cables and chargers? The phone boots and runs properly on stock?
I had a similar problem. I talked to LG customer support and they were aware of this issue and suggested that the whole logic board needs to be replaced. Apparently this is common with LG devices.
A workaround that worked for me is to turn off the phone for 1 day (let it cool down), clean flash whatever rom you like, then flash ElementalX kernel with the CPU under-clocked to minimum.
I have tried various ports and cords, battery from a top seller on ebay (checked reviews prior) and I cannot boot into stock Android either... During my extensive tweaking of the device last night I relocked the bootloader while returning to complete stock... After doing such I later tried some thing I saw suggested on the forums, removal of the power button.. so I desoldered it.. didn't change anything so it's def not the button... However now I cannot click the screen to confirm unlocking the BL again so I'm close to boned as far as flashing options ATM... Lol fail...
If it is a motherboard problem, and it sounds like it is, the cheapest solution may be to buy a used Nexus 5 with smashed screen and working motherboard. Swapping the motherboards is quite simple.
That's probably gonna happen, I don't see many other viable options .... It's not my phone so imma be putting money into someone else's to save face. U don't get a broke device back from me
Thanks guys
