[Q]MT4GS - wont charge - T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide

Hey so i recently rooted, im boot loader unlocked S-ON, flashed the boot.img and am running CM9 alpha 4 on my double shot.
however as of yesterday, all it does is keep blinking an orange light and and not charging, the few times i have been able to turn it on it shows 0 - 4 % battery.
i was running CWMR the latest version but i read another similar thread that was resolved and flashed stock recovery i think, i cant turn it on to check currently :/
Checked for similar threads nothing could really help.

If you have no juice to experiment, you will need a different battery thats charged in order to work with it.

Try leaving it on the on the charger for little while. Sometimes the batteries take a while to accept a charge. My Anker will take quite a while for it to start showing charge if I ran it all the way down.
Barring that get another battery and the standalone charger such as the Anker battery two pack.
Hastily spouted for your befuddlement

make sure that Tis not your charger. Did you try charging with a different charger.

Ok well i still have my broken phone(the one i have no is the warranty one i got from them, didnt send the old broken one back yet), and ive put the battery in there to charge before the problem seems to be this.
The phone isn't charging while its off. It can charge while turned on however at a VERY VERY slow rate. ive read on some thread that CWM recovery might be to blame due to a fastboot thing?

This was a known bug with the old Madaco recovery, is that the one you are using? If so, update to the latest one from rom manager in the market.

No im using the 5.0.2..7( i think something around there) CWM, finally charged the battery up, and it went from 100% - 88 like that* snaps fingers* , trying to calibrate the battery to see if that helps but the voltage is almost 4200 mv and the percentage is decreasing... so i might just flash stock, flash stock recovery lock boot loader then just see if i can warranty it...

Aftermarket batteries

So this morning I woke up to my phone refusing to power up again, and also have lots of random shutdowns that require me to pull battery before powering back on. I have narrowed it down to the only culprit causing this being an aftermarket extended battery as my oem battery, although it was dead, powered the phone up and accepted a charge via the charge indicator staying on instead of blinking. Anyone else experience this?
Nonsense!

What battery are you using? Is it knocked off ones from ebay?
You can try and buy the oem battery, mugen or chichi batteries.
OROROR its possible that Ur having random issue that some people are having resulting many bricked g2s. There is a thread in general section called e:log/ something like that
Mine was bricked compeletely
Was running cm7 fine for about a week
Then it was cuasing random freezes and had to pull battery to get it working again
Now careful with what you do or u will brick urs like mine
Can u connect to the charger and open hboot or access to recovery?
If you do using adb reflash recovery..
Thisis what I did and ended up with bricked g2
I was tried of getting random freezes(I never overclocked it)
Booted into recovery did factory reset and got e: log/recovery or something like that( buch of em)
Then I flashed new rom
Rebooted got stuck at htc logo for 20min
Pulled battery...it never turned back on. No hboot or recovery no adb nothing.

Aftermarket batteries are often cheap knockoffs, and are infamous for failing quickly. I've seen a post on here by a person that purchased 3 from eBay, and all 3 failed within 2-3 weeks.

+1 if your really looking for extended after market batteries go with chichi or mugen. People are getting great results. They are a bit pricy though.

Its not non sense lol. It happened to me, no need to panic, leave the battery in unless your CWM is updated to the latest version whereas you don't boot into recovery while charging.
If its updated to the latest CWM:
1. Put back your OEM battery or any other battery that will boot up your phone.
2. Go to ROM Manager and go to a previous recovery version before the the fix for charging and not going into recovery.
3. Let it flash, and then pop back in your extended battery.
4. Plug in your USB to your computer. Let it go into recovery.
5. Type "adb devices" your phone should appear.
6. Then type "adb reboot"
There it should be fixed now. If your CWM isn't to the latest, you can skip the flashing to older ones.
Lol the nonsense is my signature on my phone, meaning my phone is a non-sense phone lol
Its been working fine all day, just drops calls in the same area so no different. I haven't tried the am battery since, but when it was plugged in the orange charge led was blinking, and would act differently when power button was pressed. Put oem battery in and no power, but the battery was dead. After ten min it powered and booted right up.
Mostly I am concerned and made this thread because my previous g2 bricked and wondering if the battery messed up volatge or something because the phone got a little hot before it locked up and bricked. I was reflashing roms and I did it 20 times before and never had a problem so its not like it was my first time. Totally weird.
Nonsense!
Yeah it happened to me like twice. I just pray that when I have to do a battery pull when I'm out it this problem doesn't occur lol. Well yeah the orange light blinks cause of the new CWM. If it was on the old one with no fix, it would stay orange and go into recovery. At first I thought the same until I put a different battery back in and booted, so I thought the battery was now defective, so I went back to eBay and purchased 2 more. After a week of the purchase I tried those adb commands and it fixed it. So now I have 3 extended batteries lol, it kinda messed me up since I had to pay for a new one .
Just wanted to say after almost a week on the oem stock battery since my failure, I have not had issues with my phone shutting down, random rebooting attempts, or a need for a battery pull. No pulling the phone out of my pocket and it is blank dead and useless unless I pull battery.
I'm assuming that the battery was my problem. How? I don't know unless it was a voltage issue? If anyone wants my am battery to just mess with it, you can have it for free just pay shipping.
Nonsense!
You can buy 1450mah Droid Incredible 2 battery or the Evo Shift's 1500mah battery.
EDIT: Just got the Sprint Evo Shift battery in. It will need to be modded and sanded down a bit. I was in a hurry so I just sanded it down with the sticker still on it.. after about 5 minutes of that, some clean up with goo gone and alcohol, I have a working 1500mah battery straight from HTC.

[Q] PHONE is Dead, Not charging at ALL, No custom rom installed

Hey guys, i've done the search button and still can't find any answers. First of all, all i've done to my phone : S-off, superuser, root. No custom ROM installed. i did that 2days prior yesterday and it was working and charging fine. So yesterday when i was playing paradise island my phone died. I connected it to the USB wall charger and left my room. After 3-4hrs, my phone is still dead. So i thought maybe the USB or wall charger is not working. I tried using my cousin Mytouch wall charger with the htc USB, still doesnt work but using my wallcharger with the mytouch usb, my cousin's phone charges.
When i try to charge my phone, the amber light comes on but its flashing, then after 3 times, light will stop
Troubleshooting i've done
I've tried numerous times to go to HBOOT, nothing
Removed the battery several times, nothing
tried USB charging through my laptop nothing.
Any help guys??
Same issue!
Please help with this!!
CMW
If you search you'll find that there is a problem and after installing CMW Recovery most phones will not charge if they're off, so if you let your battery drain to the last you will be unable to charge your battery trought the phone, no solution at this moment for this
Work arounds
- Charge your battery on a wall charger directly not trought the phone
- Charge your battery on an stock untouched Sensation

Wallcharger, is there one i can purchase??
Is the battery itself the problem?? because t-mobile, will sent me a new battery. I've only had this phone for 3 weeks. IF the battery itself not the problem, they will send me a new phone but i'm assuming that i've going to have to send the old phone back, is there going to be an issue regarding the warranty when i send the old phone to them???
it's not the battery, it's the cmw what's the problem. You have an older version of cmw.
I see, where to get the latest CWM? There's a way to go back to stock right?
Now i kinda regret S-OFF,ROOt, CWM ...lol..-.- i know it's my fault tho...
Once you managed to boot the phone again, you can install rom manager, from there you can easily install the latest cmw.
i have the latest CMW Still doesn't charge when battery at 0%
You would think they would test CMW before releasing....

I used CWM 4.0.1.4. From what i know its suppose to fix the charging problem. As of right now, im trying to manually charge my battery by splitting on of my old USB cable +wall charger. So hopefully this will work.
None of the threads in the entire forum are even remotely helpful if you can't even get the phone to turn on.
I can't reflash the recovery - if there is no way for me to get into the bootloader.
A wall charger hasn't helped - nor my N1 battery taped in.
NOTHING.
Please stop jumping a million steps ahead to reflashing the recovery - start with HOW TO TURN THE PHONE ON - bearing in mind that NOTHING IN THE FORUM so far has worked.

I've been using my brothers G2 battery (which doesn't fit) to turn on my phone.
But since I don't have a universal charger, and my phone wont turn on (I tried EVERYTHING) than there is no point to attempt to get into recovery unless I'm going back to stock.
Tl;DR CWM Needs to fix there shhhhhheeeet.
I finally manage to turn on my fone by splitting my old usb cable...i know somone said, its dangerous but it work for me....so do it at your own risk....now im juz looking for a safe wayto revert to stock w/o cwm, root, super user....might keep S-off tho
Any suggestion
If u need to start you fone....get a spare usb cable...and split it..remove the battery from your fone. Now tape the red wire to positive and black to negative....attach the usb to ur wall charger.....then wait 10- 20 min. Now remove ur battery then insert it back to you phone and turn it on. Once it starts, connect it to ur htc usb+ wallcharger.... once again, someone said its dangerous....so make this your last resort

Yeah. That didn't work for me. After splitting two cables - I decided to cut my losses.
Unfortunately I'm not in the US - and that's where I bought the phone. I'm going to try and find and independent vendor and see if they have a battery I can buy.
If not - I am ROYALLY screwed.
Yeah the battery/cwm combo is ****ed. So angry.
Do you have the one with the blue text? It's supposed to fix these issues

Sorry to revive this thread, but I am in the same boat. After trying to flash android on my brother's hd2, I noticed that the battery died. I cannot charge it since it has no ROM currently installed... Has there been a fix?

[Q] Damaged Captivate - Any help would be appreciated.

I've searched the forums and have not seen anything quite like my problem, so if I missed an important thread, I'm sorry.
Over the weekend, I plugged my Captivate (using a stock battery) into the official Samsung charger and overnight my roommate semi-dislodged the charger. When I woke up and grabbed my phone it only registered a few hours of charging yet still had almost full battery. Upon rebooting the phone, I was sent into a bootloop. Not at the ROM, not at the Kernel, not even at the bootloader. It goes so far as to show the white loading ring at the center of the screen which never moves. At one point, a thin pink line appears halfway through the screen as it shuts down and reboots, never making it any farther. If I plug the phone in, it will boot normally though it does not accurately report battery levels or charging.
Other oddities: after 5 minutes of a phone call, the phone hard crashes. Not FC's, but just goes black. Upon a reboot, I get stuck into the same boot loop. If I plug the phone into the wall charger without a battery, it will go into the turned-off charging animation and show a 100% charged battery. Furthermore, my other roommate has a brand new i9000 so I tried that battery (again, stock Samsung) and it continues in the same bootloop. I have tried flashing other ROMS and going back to stock, but that does not seem to help.
Other info: I was running OneCosmic's ICS 3.1 with no overclock and light undervolting at the time. It was perfectly stable for the few days until the charger dislodged. I am also out of warranty and am not eligible for a hardware upgrade so repairing my Captivate would be ideal. I also have a usb jig if that is of any use to this scenario.
Has anyone experienced anything remotely like this? If not, what debugging steps should I attempt?
What I would suggest is using one of the ODIN one clicks and flash back to stock

I've flashed back to Rogers 2.2 stock. Doesn't help. It actually made it harder for me to get the phone started though I have yet to make a phone call from it.
Have you had the phone for less than a year? if so call at&t(or rogers) and they'll replace it for you.
then try factory reset
then try using odin or rom manager to flash back to stock
When all else fails, flash to cm7. that will completely wipe everything and start from scratch.
if that STILL dost work.... than you can be sure that its a hardware problem :/ theres nothing you can do except replace and sell for for parts.. sorry
You may want to try clearing the battery stats. Something in there may be telling the phone that the battery is completely dead and it shuts the phone down in the middle of the boot. Just a guess, though.
It sounds to me like the phone might have gotten confused aobut how much battery life it actually has. You might also try getting it loaded up and then letting it drain the battery completely down. Reset the stats and then fully recharge the phone.

I have exactly the same problem, I did the reset of the battery stats and still not working.
Did you solve the problem?
thanks
Martin
Thanks to everyone for their suggestions, however, no amount of battery calibration could get it to work. Furthermore, a bad flash has made the situation even worse. Now Im bootlooping even when plugged in and when unplugged my jig is of no help. I have declared my Captivate dead.
Best of luck toominds, if you get it to work, let me know. I'd love to have a spare phone sitting around.

[Q] Hard-brick? :(

Hi All,
I think I might have hard bricked my phone but I'm not sure. I had Synergy r56 and IMOSEYON's kernel for several months and stayed on that even after the JB releases came out. This past weekend I decided to upgrade to the latest release, r147. I wiped data/cache, flashed r147, and it booted up fine. The only problem was that it would appear to reboot about twice an hour (or more). I read that it could be the kernel that was included (Ziggy). So I decided to try KT747 but before that I flashed the newest radio (VRKL3), then flashed KT747 but that didn't help with the reboots. This was late last night and I had to wake up early for work so I decided to work on this in the morning. Woke up to a dead phone -- it wont charge!
With the power plugged in, I pull out the battery and put it back in and the phone vibrates and a red LED comes on. I see the display turn on and I see the battery image (with zero charge) that you usually see when you charge the phone while it's switched off. This image last less than a second and then it's gone. I tried going into download mode but that doesn't work either. I'm wondering if I get a fully charged battery, would that help me boot up. Any ideas??
Yes get a new battery from someone that's charged. If your seeing life with the screen coming on then you are not hard bricked. I would recommend having everything ready to Odin back to stock when you get the battery and go ahead and put it to stock.

Guess that's good news. Now to find someone who has an S3...if I can't, can it take it in to a Verizon store? Or is that a bad idea? Thanks for your response!
Not on this phone but I know people would take the droid x into verizon and they would let them use one of their batteries to see if it would boot. Wouldn't hurt trying. And you can get batteries pretty cheap on amazon, external chargers too. Good luck.
Just placed an order on Amazon for a battery/charger set. Will update this thread tomorrow! Thanks again guys!
This has been happening to me since I got my s3. If I let my battery die it's a pita to charge it back up as I have to keep pulling thwarted battery and or get lucky. The battery charging icon would show up and disappear and the red led light would show up, That doesn't mean its charging. The battery charging icon has to stay put to know it's charging. This hasn't really bothered me enough to get a replacement. So my 2 cents

I'm curious have you just left out plugged in for a couple hours? Also what about recovery mode?

The no charge after battery dead is a bug in CWM.
Both CWM and TWRP? I just installed TWRP and haven't had this issue before with CWM.

Update:
Got my extra batteries less than 10 minutes back. Stuck one of the batteries in the phone and it booted!!!! I'm stoked! lol...anyway, if someone could guide me through what I'd need to do to get back to the latest Synergy JB rom (r147 I believe it is) after I go back to stock because I'm pretty sure I screwed something up with everything I did to get to where I am.
What I've done so far:
Unlocked bootlader
Flashed the latest radio (RLK3 I think it is)
Flashed the KT747 kernel over the one that came in Synergy r147
What do I need to do to get back to Synergy r157? Do you think it's best to go back to stock and re-do everything or is there an easier way? I'm a little paranoid cos I've been out of this game for a while and am not sure what effects my flashing kernels/radios will have on anything I try to undo. Also, if I do flash the Synergy ICS nandroid (r56) that I took prior to flashing r147, will that revert the kernel to Ziggy's?
Thanks in advance guys!
Nevermind. On Synergy r155 now and am having several unrelated issues. Thanks for the assistance.

[INFO]Software related charging issue on S4

Hi guys,
Had a very weird issue yesterday with my Rogers S4. I have flashed a bunch of ROMS in the past, but wanted to try the new MEA firmware based ROMS..
Well yesterday i tried Mint Jelly v2.1 (flashed via TWRP) and immediately without rebooting flashed 005 FAUX kernal to avoid boot loops. My battery was about 15% at the time. The flash took, and the phone rebooted into the ROM no issues.
Noticed that when i plugged in the charger to my S4 it was NO LONGER charging. I tried multiple 2.1amp chargers, and cables, including OEM, and it no longer charged. However it charged my NOTE2 with no issues.
This is when i was about to FREAK.. but i recall from my HP Touchpad days that sometimes if the battery dies, you need to do something special to get hte phone to charge back up again.
So what i did, was completely shut down the phone, and plug it back in the charger, and it started to charge again. But immediately booting into Android, it would still no longer charge!!.. So i let it charge up for an hour wiht the power off. Once i booted in again, the phone was able to charge again normally with all my chargers while booted in.
I thought my situation was a freak incident until i noticed another XDA member report the same issue. This is NOT a hardware issue, but something related to software.. So give my advice a shot incase you encounter this yourselves!

Never flash anything or make major changes to your phone with a low battery (below 70%).
I may be the member he was talking about. I had a thread on this. Only difference was my phone wouldn't charge at all. When I plugged it in when it was off it would boot loop the charge screen. It was rooted and I had some bloat frozen, but the issue started after I installed Sugarsync. I had the same configuration for a few days with no problems, and my battery was about 50 percent when I tried to charge.

It's definitely possible and usually will work just fine. There are a couple of reasons to flash on a full battery. If something goes wrong and takes a lot longer than originally anticipated, there is less chance of the battery going dead while things are being fixed. Plus, many ROMs (Kernels actually) enact different power profiles for different stages of charge. If this is the case, flashing might not go as anticipated.

I bricked a S2 like that. Flashed a rom adn the battery drained in the process, causing it not flash properly. phone was dead, no download mode or anything.
