Just wanted to check if it's just me or are there other forum members also experiencing the similar issue of speakers just not being loud enough???

Have you enabled dts feature when using the stock music player? Also it depends if the audio file volume was upped correctly when it was mixed. It plays real loud for me even when dts is not activated. Also think about ambient noise in the background when you are playing music

for me it's speaker, not speakers... I can only hear sound coming out of one speaker... I guess the other one is the mic... and yes I can barely hear mine too
Thanks Dude. Got it. It was the DTS function that was off.

Only the right bottom speaker on mine and 3 other test units seem to be working called my LG Rep and his is the same but its supposed to have stereo speakers as per lg

how to turn on dts
I love this phone but am also having problems with it being to quiet. i saw this post about turning on dts i cant find any option for this anywhere. not in stock music player not in settings where and how do i do this. if i cant make this speaker louder i will have to return it.
Mine's running great. Speaker is quite a bit louder than my old Nexus one. Compare it to some others if you can.

this phone compared to my droid is 1 10th as loud and thats pushing it. in music player all i have is shuffle and playlist nothing about dts. been searching the net cant find anything. can someone please walk through steps you took to do this. i hate to lose this phone but i can not handle this i cant hear it without putting it so close i can see the picture. and both the speakers on bottom are working. i read on the net about a couple dts programs from tmobile neither of which are on my phone.
When you are playing music in the stock music player. Go to the song currently playing and you'll see dts function

just got the 32gig card today putting mucis on it now but that wont help videos . but if it helps on this it can be made to work on video player or get teh programs off a slate dump since i guess tehy left teh apps off the g2x.
So if one of the speakers not working, then is it a defective unit? Only my right one works and the left one doesn't.
Left one is a microphone. Wow too many people are wondering about this.

I'm in the same boat. I got my rma from Asus, but I have no confidence in their ability to support this product. I have to send it to them next week, and I'm sure my feelings about this tablet will turn sour during the wait period to get it back. Since I have no other hardware issues, I'm dreading that my tablet will return to me with a new problem(s). :-(
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using XDA Premium App
I think it's software related not hardware. I lost my left speaker too but it's back! I have been flashing Roms all day and clearing user data and all. I never tested the speakers until tonight and both are at default levels (sounds equal on both side). I also flashed the netformer experimental kernel. So I have prime 1.3_us with netformer kernel. Not sure what fixed it but I will monitor it.

This boat is crouded.
I too have the problem with speaker imbalance. When playing music I can watch the speaker output gauge thingy and it does not match what is coming out of the speakers. The right side is definitely louder. Or the left is less loud. I don't know which statement would be correct since I don't know the correct sound output. Apparently this is a common problem. I sent my tf101 for repair after one day of ownership. Mailed yesterday. I will let you know if they fixed the problem. You would think there would be some sort of quality control on this. I guess a lot of units would not pass inspection. Anyone else send theirs in and get it back yet?
Does anyone know of any apps to fix the low audio output for watching videos. Music and call colume is fine for me...but I can barely make out the words on any video I play...even with the SRS enchancments on...I guess I'm looking for something to boost the audio output using any video player. I've tried "equalizer" but it didn't work at all in boosting the volume. Thanks.
Same problem here..except that the music isn't quite loud enough to me. Same problem of equalizer being useless. I made a topic about this in the general forum, but nothing was solved unfortunately
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
How is equalizer useless? I get a fairly significant boost. I put 100 and 300 at 12dB, 1000 at 10dB, 3000 at 8, and 10000 at 4. Make sure you enable it by pressing the power icon and selecting equalizer.
I will give it another shot with the presets you mentioned tomorrow at the gym. That's when I tend to watch movies...and the noises around drown out the audio...keeping my fingers crossed
It's useless because any boost that it may give is leveled out by something...probably the htc sound driver

Well you must not be doing it right or your phone is defective.
Same issue with low audio here. It depends what video player I use, the same applies to GPS navigation Copilot has very low volume, Sygic is reasonably ok. All applications are at the maximum volume.
I think that this issue needs to be fixed with update from HTC or we will need some application to boost the volume without too much distortion.
Even when listening to music trough headphones, volume is not as loud as i would like to have very often. Far cry from my HTC Diamond which felt twice as loud compared to Sensation.
Because I have alot of AVI files...and for some reason the sound cuts out after like two minutes of watching a video with the stock player(def an issue that needs to be fixed...but maybe for another day)....I have been using the app "Arc Media" to watch them...I tried the presets this morning suggested by Karnovarian...and it seemed to help some? Maybe I was just sub consciously hoping it did...or maybe it was because I was a couple of treadmills down from the big fan then yesterday. Either way, it was still lower then I would have liked...def a difference from my mytouch 4g I gave away to a family member.
Any other luck with "equilaizer" or other apps?

I mean NO disrespect..so please don't take it anyway. But there are like 10 of these threads. OP please do a search before starting threads like this that have been discussed a million times. It stagnates the forums if we keep discussing the same issues.

Since these issues are so frequently encountered, should we not keep them @ front page to keep awareness of the issues?

Can you, or someone point me in the direction of the Volume + app... I searched around some. Couldn't find it :/

I tried increasing speaker volume to max but my ringtones still as soft.....
Anyone tested this apps on sensation and confirmed it is working?
Maybe i am missing something....

Does anyone know an app that would boost the volume. It's not very loud stock.

Volume+ works for me. Pay for it though, the +4dB limit in the free version doesnt cut the mustard. I pushed mine up to about 18 -- which makes things nice and loud, but not distorted,

So before I buy, you can confirm that works for your tablet correct? I ask because both free and pay talk about it working on GB. Skimming the notes I didn't see anything about root,so just checking stock rom non root works (for you)

I can confirm that the paid version of Volume+ *does* work on the TF700. Just be careful and don't set it too high or you can blow the speaker!

The free version works on mine too, I can hear the difference in the movies already, will definitely consider buying this app.
So how high should I turn it up without hurting anything? I set it to +8. It is louder but not loud enough.

As long as you don't hear your speakers distorting, you should be fine. But, if you hear distortion, it may be too late as well.... Just be careful. I think I have mine @ +10db, but it really depends on the app - some apps output much louder sounds than others. So you just need to be careful and set the volume low enough when you start an app, and then increase the volume it until it's loud enough...

I use Equalizer and it works great! Love that you can not only boost the volume but shape the sound to your liking. As with all volume boosters, be careful not to blow out your speakers.

Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using xda app-developers app
FYI - In order to "activate" Volume+ in ICS after installation, you need to enter Settings->Sounds->Music Effect and select "Volume+" (it stays defaulted to "MusicFX" after installing Volume+, which is the Android sound system).
Once you tell ICS to actually use Volume+, you will definitely hear a difference (not sure about the free version at only +4 DB, but the paid version definitely makes it louder!!).

Ahh, that may be my problem.
EDIT: Yes, that allowed me to use Volume+. Now it is perfectly loud, using the Free version and pushing it +4 Db. Any more would be too much for me. Ironically, the only thing I had on my Google Music Cloud (I'm doing a little maintenance with metadata) was some Slayer...and when I hit that +4 button that hurt lol.
THANK YOU!
Sound still not as good as it was on my Tab with its separated speakers but at least its loud enough now!

Agree with that point. The speakers on the Tab 10.1 on opposite sides of the screen are great when watching movies. That's the only flaw that I find with the Infinity. Luckily I got a 'good' one that doesn't have any of the problems that a lot of people are having with the hardware - but I'm also one that can't get the OTA or Unlock tool to work.

I'm a "prospective" Transformer Infinity owner. At this point this is the one I'm looking at.
Here's how I usually get a good bit of extra volume from my devices that have the speaker on the back. I suspect this would help with the Transformer Infinity too. Cuff your hand on the rear side of the device where the speaker is, so your hand is not covering the speaker, but directing the audio towards you instead of away from you.
If I get this pad and feel the need I might try something such as Volume +, but the hand cuff method is effective without any harmful side effects . (I'll probably just end up continuing with the hand cuff method, since I'm so used to doing it  .)

Ha, I do this all the time too. I still use Volume+, but the cupped hand to redirect the sound works well too. The even made unpowered docks for some phones that worked on this principle, I think Belkin made one.
Cup method works but watch a movie while doing the cup and its gonna cramp your hand abit.
The speaker is good if your at a desk and the sound bounces off something which I'm never at a desk. I'm always in a chair and the speaker points away.

It doesn't matter the app. No matter if I'm watching a movie, listening to music, or checking out YouTube the volume level is extremely low even when maxed out.
I'm currently running the latest CM 10.1 nightly if that makes a difference.
