[Q] Porting Infuse to Cincinnati Bell - Samsung Infuse 4G

Anybody have any luck porting a Infuse over to Cincinnati Bell?
I seem to only get the Edge network and can't receive MMS (even after trying 247,987 different settings....)
What a fantastic device and I sure would hate to lose it.....

What bands does Cincinatti Bell use for 3G? If they use the same bands as T-Mobile, this would explain the Infuse being stuck at EDGE. There is no way around this.

They use the same as T-Mobile so it will be edge only.

Yeah it is the same as tmobile. 1700/aws is the typical band for their 3g I'm pretty sure.

Gentlemen, thanks for the info.
I was fairly certain that was going to be a hard limitation. I just wanted to run it by my XDA friends before I had a visit to eBay.
I was given this by AT&T as a “gift” if I would stay with them and admittedly it was enticing since I actually found the Infuse as close to perfect for my needs.
Oh well “eBay meet my Infuse…..”
Ps – anyone want to make a recommendation on a close replacement out of these choices (or what to avoid);
HTC Panache
Huawei Ascend
Samsung Vibrant
Samsung Nexus s 3g
Dell Streak 5
Motorola Milestone XT720

Tmobile actually has a goods selection of nice android phones like the gtx2 galaxy s 4 and some others which should work nicley on cincy bell. But if tmobile merges with att idk if they will tell bell to find a new frequency or if since they are local att won't care thinking it won't clog up the data bandwidth too much. Then you'd do all this for nothing you know what I mean lol

If you liked the infuse, the vibrant is going to be very similar, possibly the nexus s as well. Personally, I would grab a tmobile HTC sensation from the marketplace on here or eBay for 350-400 or so and use that.

I would avoid Huawei at all costs. Their policy on updates is, "Want an update? Buy this slightly modified variant of the same device you already own." and "Accessories? What accessories? That dock connector is just there to look pretty and sell tablets to idiots like you that don't know us yet."
Yes, I'm a VERY bitter S7 owner.

[Q] Android recommendations for ATT

I personally think the HTC Inspire 4G is the best Android device out there on the ATT network, but was curious what the consensus is (if there is one). My son is interested in getting an Android soon and wants to know what the current top model is on ATT. Slightly related, are there any new models coming down the pike for ATT that might be worth waiting for?
Imspire is your best bet. My buddy tried the atrix and ended up with the inspire. Like i told him in the first place.
sent from my ADR6300, with the power of bananananas
The problem with the Inspire is that it is year behind. I bought one and ended up giving it to my son. It's not 4G. It's very slow browsing even slower than my Samsung Galaxy S. Also, it has no 2100 MHz band for Europe (if you travel there) and no front facing camera.
I'd wait for something better. I'm waiting for the Infuse which is due out any time.

Galaxy S II or Infuse 4G

After three defective captivates, The next time I call at&t I'm going to request a new phone. I know neither of them are out yet and I know the GS2 is schuduled for T-Mobile but it passed the FCC with at&t frequencies so I assume its going to be like the first galaxy where there was different versions for many carriers. If everything works out and they are both released for at&t in may, which phone do you guys think I should get and why?

Will a htc evo4g work on another network.

Thinking of buying a new/2nd hand phone and was lookin at the evo 4g, it sez its locked to sprint network-I assume this is a u.s.a network as iv not heard of it in the UK? If it is,is it possible to unlock it to use in the UK on T-mobile...if not,is that the case with all evo 4g mobiles?.....If anyone has any better ideas for me I.e different phone or you have one of similar spec for sale please let me know, is the evo a lot better than the galaxy s i9000 not the s2. And if you've used 4g,isit really 10 times faster than average 3g..thnx in advance.
Sent from my U20i using xda premium
The evo 4g cannot, it does not use a sim card. If you want to import a phone I'd first suggest looking through t-mo US phones then last resort would be ATT but you wouldn't get 4g with an art phone or even 3g, just edge.

[Resolved] [Q] Which phone should I get?

Hey guys, I'm looking for a T-Mobile phone that is used and costs around $150. I'm looking at these phones:
HTC MyTouch 4G (non-slide)
HTC G2
Motorola Defy
Samsung Vibrant
Samsung Galaxy S 4G
Also, taking into consideration which has ICS and a more active dev community.
Thanks!
EDIT: I'm going for a no-contract $30 prepaid plan, forgot to add that

Go with the vibrant! Great phone. The SGS 4g (T959v) is nice but there is a larger dev community for the original. You won't be disappointed.
Edit: Don't overlook the captivate from at&t. It is easily unlocked with an app and is a great phone, large dev support as well.
What are you looking at shortbus?

:O where are you living, and, can I get some pictures of that because, that will make my day!
Would never buy Motorola, Samsung and so much about nothing at all, so much trouble with him was. So many problems with the flashing, forever's not like it, is not flashing, after the firmware is not loaded, reloaded
My choice of HTC
My wife has the Samsung Galaxy S, but its sometimes crappy with force restarts.

I am leaning towards the Galaxy S because I bought GTA 3 on one of my old phones and it was laggy on that one (it had an adreno 205)
consider the htc one x
with his quadcore processor you're good for a few years
My vote goes for HTC One X too. Tegra 3 is overrated, but too many developers start to consider that as main platform for development.
He wants phones that are affordable guys!!! lol But if I had to I would get a Samsung Galaxy S 4G and get straight talk for $45 Unlimited everything!!!.
Now for high end phones... the GS3 is deffinently the KING!

I live in Washington D.C. I will post some pics up later today for you. Believe me I really looked into it before I bought my captivate. I also have a vibrant. These are really great devices. Flashing is really easy, no need to worry about s-on/off like HTC devices. I also have an HTC my touch 3g slide aka espresso and I prefer the Samsungs hands down.

get the galaxy s 4g i have the int version and its still my daily phone

Let me start out by saying I'm not advocating piracy or any illegal activities but you can get alot of cool new games from 4shared. Hypothetically you could get the apk for these games to try and see how they work on your device before purchasing. Please purchase these games and apps to help support the development and continuation of great apps on the market.

I'll be buying a phone within the next 2 days, can someone confirm if captivate can work with tmobile 3g? I've looked all over and everyone says it only works with edge
thankyou!

T-Mobile "Rugged" Phone

So I just switched from Sprint to T-Mobile and am very happy. I like the fact that I have a sim card and can switch it from hone to phone. I have the Samsung Exhibit II 4G and like the phone. My question is there any "rugged" phones out there that would work for T-Mobile? I also am interested in a "Rugged" flip phone that will do Phone/SMS so that if I am going to some place that might be real hard on a phone, I can put my sim in it and sill have phone and texting. I know Sanyo makes a nice small flip phone that is rugged, but I don't think it uses a sim card.
So what "Specs" am I looking for when seeing if the phone will work on T-Mobile?
Kyle
I'd recommend the Motorola defy. I had one when I was with T-Mobile. I planned on going back to tmo and getting one for the same reason you want to. Overall its a great little phone.

That would be good. Is there only one defy or do I have to find one with some certain frequencies or something? Also would you know if the Casio Commando phones (http://www.casiogzone.com/) will work on T-Mobile?

I'd stick with the defy. Casio doesn't seem to be the best manufacturer. There's defys on amazon going for 188 that will work with T-Mobile
