Just rooted my Att Inspire 4g using the ace hack. Worked great. installed the Virtuous Unity Rom 1.29. Worked for a week then started acting buggy. Black spots on the bottom left of the screen (only on main screen, not any apps). Tried updating through Rom manager and HBOOT and cant get into CWM either way. Tried loading the PD98IMG.zip onto the sd, booting into hboot, installing update and rebooting. Removed PD98IMG.zip. No go. Boots to white screen with green HTC goes black then back to white screen ---> then into the normal rom. Any ideas?
maybe try reflashing cwm from rom manager again?
Tried. No luck. I just unrooted and returned to stock. The black spots are gone now. I really loved the rom but it just became laggy and strangely unstable after a week. oh well, back to stock i guess...
Why not just load a different ROM?I'm running the honeysense HD and I love it. very good battery life. my best charge is 1 day 2 hrs. no problems with it what so ever

So I got my s-off but I don't know which Rom to use.....what are some of the top Rom recommended?

I've tried many of the roms, but I still prefer the stock rom. It runs perfectly fine... you just need to remove the bloatware... It's also all personal preferences, so start flashing and see how you like each one.
I am also using the stock ROM, but with bloatware and sense frozen via Titanium Backup. I am also using ADW EX launcher (a must since I froze Sense). My phone is super snappy, and without the risk of it being a brick.
If you are new to all this, I would wait before flashing a ROM. They are still buggy and nothing for a new guy to be trying to troubleshoot when he needs to be on his way to work in the morning. ;-)
First things first, you need to figure out which CWM version your phone needs to avoid a NASTY problem with dead batteries and a phone that wont boot.
There are two versions out, one is a "fixed" version from Alpharev (the .4 version). The other is the newest .5 that is available from ROm Mananger (marketplace app).
Chances are, your phone will not charge right with one of them. While you have a somewhat charged battery, install the .4 version and then turn off your phone (no fastboot, fully off). Try to charge for an hour. Boot up and then see if your phone charged. If so, and you were able to boot up normally, then you are done. If not, install CWM version .5.
Matt
Well I'm rooted already.....and I'm using .4 and don't have any battery charging problems.......I've owned a mytouch 4g before and rooted that also but I didn't like the sense ui on that phone. So basically use stock with no bloatware then......that sounds good to me. This sense ui doesn't bother me at all.....

HELP!!!
Hey guys need some help here...was running the CM7 alpha7 and everything has been great. Phone was fully charged on the charger this morning and I rebooted just for kicks. I come back in the room a few mins later and the phone is bootlooping. Tried restoring a backup of cm7 and same thing even after a fresh wipe and install.
Restored a miui backup i have and everything is fine with that.
I cannot install a new rom or my cm7 nandroid only this miui one. tried flashing old cwr and same results. have even tried sense based roms and they will not boot. all i get is the htc splash screen and then it bootloops.
Any idea what I need to do or what went wrong? thanks!!!
Maybe kernel or radio not compatible or something? You could try the RUU

I would advise to run the RUU and start fresh.
Might be radio issue most likely since CM7 uses their own one according to xda users.

Tried it and it didn't work...wouldn't boot kept bootlooping the slash screen. So the only two nandroids I can restore and only two Roms I can flash are trips miui and rcmix sense 3.5 isn't that weird? I'm so confused...

Did you get your problem solved? I have almost the exact same issue, but with a slightly different experience. I was using a sense 3.5 rom (Insert Coin) and, when I tried to update the ROM to the newest version, I couldn't get past the HTC splash screen (the HTC splash screen would come on for about 3 seconds, and then reboot). I was able to get into recovery and restore a CM7 rom and a previous Insert Coin rom, but I can't flash anything else without bootlooping.
I've tried flashing an older recovery (didn't work), using an alternative recovery (didn't work), flashing the RUU (didn't work), and formatting my SD card (didn't work). Nothing seems to work. :-(
hey guys,
i'm having a issue with flashing new ROMs. i am currently running android revolution HD 3.6.2. i was curious on trying a different roms and i tried to install insert coin 3.3.0 and clockwork said rom installed successfully after following the steps. but i get to a htc boot screen then the screen goes black then htc screen pops up again. i left the phone alone thinking it was just part of the first boot process. left the phone alone for 20 minutes still doing the same thing. so then i tried cm7, and got the same issue after following the sticky guide for cm7. i flashed back to hd and it booted fine. then i tried to use RUU to go back to stick, and the two tmobile versions up didnt work.
any suggestions? i am curious to try other roms.

Just kind of a basic step. If you go from one rpm to a completely different one your going to want to superwipe. Especially if they are different builds. You can flash an update like 3.6.1 to 3.6.2 but not ARHD to insertcoin. Try superwipe and flash a new Rom. Just make sure you make nand backup so you can always go back If something goes wrong.
for those who used stock att 2.3.6 on there rogers like me. and tried to go back to rogers and most likly got the rainbow screen upon boot up. this method i used by staying up and trying to get rid of that eyesore of a screen. even tho i dont turn my phone off. i knew it was there. here is what i did after i flashed 2.3.6
1. used gtg ultimate unbrick pit, pda, and phone..flashed
2. used Odin_Infused_Gingerbread_Kernel_v1 just to get root and cwm
3. got rom of choice i used 3 of them already and same result. (skips the first boot screen) goes right to samsung. i used miui 2.2.24, infused 2.2.3 and zeus total final.
no more eyesore upon startup of phone
im glad i found a solution. im tired from staying up and getting couple hours sleep for a week. cause i hate broken stuff.
Also I found on Zeus don't install add-ons. As it makes my phone lag and loop

Okay so I call myself scouring the net for anyone who has had the same issue as me. I am stock with BeastMod kernel on 2.20. Also WiFi tether tweak installed. Whenever I restart phone bookshops three or four times then eventually boots. Everything I have found had been for infinite bootlooping. All I really ask for is a point in the right direction. This is my first HTC phone since I was loading android from SD card on HTC Pure. I have done a little bit with the Inspire and have unbricke Evos for friends but just can't figure this situation out. Any help would be appreciated.
Update: Fixed by flashing boot.IMG from stock then refreshing kernel and boot.IMG created by kernel. Now I am experiencing WiFi error so it looks like I will be starting from scratch again.

change kernel settings or try another kernel
Tried that. Went to stock kernel and experienced the same issue. I noticed that there was no need to fastboot flash the beastmod kernel. I used flashgui to flash stock kernel and sure enough on restart a fee bootloops then boom it starts. So I reinstalled beastmod because it's just an awesome kernel and the problem persist. Another question I tried flashing a Rom which led to my internal not being read. Fixed that problem and the bootloops have been happening ever since. Guess I just need to start from scratch. Just did that a week ago when I trade my Skyrocket for this phone (got lucky there).

don't factory reset in bootloader or it will corrupt your sdcard. have you tried flashing a custom rom?
Haven't flashed a custom yet. Just can't really find one I like well enough to flash.
