[Q] Help me get out of this bootloop!?!?! - HTC Sensation

HELP!!!
Hey guys need some help here...was running the CM7 alpha7 and everything has been great. Phone was fully charged on the charger this morning and I rebooted just for kicks. I come back in the room a few mins later and the phone is bootlooping. Tried restoring a backup of cm7 and same thing even after a fresh wipe and install.
Restored a miui backup i have and everything is fine with that.
I cannot install a new rom or my cm7 nandroid only this miui one. tried flashing old cwr and same results. have even tried sense based roms and they will not boot. all i get is the htc splash screen and then it bootloops.
Any idea what I need to do or what went wrong? thanks!!!

Maybe kernel or radio not compatible or something? You could try the RUU
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e

I would advise to run the RUU and start fresh.
Might be radio issue most likely since CM7 uses their own one according to xda users.

Thanks guys finally have the ruu downloaded and its running. Hope this works. Thanks for looking out! Running off the sidekick 4g so I really hope it works out haha

Tried it and it didn't work...wouldn't boot kept bootlooping the slash screen. So the only two nandroids I can restore and only two Roms I can flash are trips miui and rcmix sense 3.5 isn't that weird? I'm so confused...
Sent from my TripNMiUI Pyramid using xda premium

Did you get your problem solved? I have almost the exact same issue, but with a slightly different experience. I was using a sense 3.5 rom (Insert Coin) and, when I tried to update the ROM to the newest version, I couldn't get past the HTC splash screen (the HTC splash screen would come on for about 3 seconds, and then reboot). I was able to get into recovery and restore a CM7 rom and a previous Insert Coin rom, but I can't flash anything else without bootlooping.
I've tried flashing an older recovery (didn't work), using an alternative recovery (didn't work), flashing the RUU (didn't work), and formatting my SD card (didn't work). Nothing seems to work. :-(

I chose the "Synergy-3CVO_RLS1_08-21-11(NIGHTLY)". Rom Manager askes me to backup ROM + Wipe Data and Cache+ Wipe Dalvik Cache" i chose to wipe data and cache. My phone then reboots into recovery where CM starts to do its magic. but once it opens the file on the SD, Every time it tries to install it , it gives me an abort error like this one...

If any one knows what's causing this...please help me out.

what version of CM are you using? i wasnt able to flash my 3d with any new versions, so try reverting back to CM 4.0.1.4. that may prove helpful if you are having the same problem i was. mine wouldnt even boot into recovery. after telling it to flash, it would just reboot normaly without ever getting into CW. you may also want to try TWRP. i have been having better luck with that for the past few days. hope that helps

I'm using 5.0.2.0, of CWM. How would I downdrade to 4.0.1.4?, and what is TWRP?
I'm going to try flashing a diferent ron and see if I get the same error. If I do ill might do a hard reset of the device reroot then flash synergy...but that's my last option. Don't really want to take that option.

TeamWin Recovery Project, they are on version RC2.01 I think; Although I have been running TWRP RC2.0 since it came out just fine.
What Hboot are you running?
Also if your new, I would suggest sticking to Release/Stable builds until you get the hang of it all; Nightlies can be unstable sometimes (Virus' builds are really nice though, I've been using minimalist as my daily driver for weeks now)

my mistake, im on HBOOT version 4.9. If i need to upgrade how do i do so?
also TeamWin Project ver 2.0 , that is only for the HTC Evo CDMA modle not the GSM model witch i have ...
Hahaha, I laugh at my self for this one.
The roms I was trying to install were not meant for my "model" phone.. CDMA & GSM.
I have a GSM model and not a CDMA, I was trying to install a CDMA on a GSM.
Wow I can't believe I could be that stupid...
Lol. Thanks for all the help.

[Q] bootloop after installing ANY custom ROM

Hey there,
I have an interesting problem, and it has completely stumped me for the past couple days. I recently S-Off'd my Sensation, put cwm recovery on it, and set my CID to 11111111.
I haven't had any problems with that (except that I had to change computers to do it, Revolution didn't want to run right on my laptop or set the CID, so I had to use my desktop).
Now the problem comes when I try to flash a custom ROM. The first one I tried flashing was CM7. When it booted, I got a bootloop problem of the CM7 mod logo over and over. I decided maybe it was a problem with CM7 still being in alpha. Then I tried flashing HyperSensation 1.8, and got the same error (bootloop) on the loading screen. After trying various other ROMS, I realized that it was a common problem with all custom ROMS. Luckily I had backed up the stock setup, and was able to get into that. So it's not a problem with the hardware. I have only tried flashing gingerbread ROMS. I know that ICS ROMS need a new firmware, but I dont want to mess with that unless I can actually get a gingerbread ROM working first...
Any ideas? There was a thread or two about this (on other phones) but didn't have any solutions listed..
Thanks for any ideas people can give me!

Hi,
Did you root your phone?
Did you flash the superwipe zip first?
Also are you getting full reboots with HTC splash screen then animation or just the animation looping? Sometimes I have to let mine loop for 5 minutes after first boot of new rom before it settles.
Sent from my Sensation XE using XDA App
I guess I hadn't done everything.. I didn't factory reset before flashing the new ROM... As soon as I did that it boot right in. That's a bit odd to me, as I didn't have to do that with my last phone.
Anywho, solved.

[Q] Reaper ROM problem

I'm having some trouble running the Reaper Rom. My phone is S-OFFed with revolutionary and using Hboot: 0.98.2000. I have been able to succesfully install the MIUI ICS ROM and CM7.
I have formatted and wiped everything from 4EXT recovery and then installed the latest Reaper 2.1. During the first boot it freezes at the ROM loading screen. After about 20 minutes it reboots and this time loads the ROM but then freezes again after about a minute. This then continues in a loop.
Has anyone else experienced similar problems and has any ideas about how I could fix this?
Thanks for any help.
Does this happen each time you clean instal it or just the once?
Possibly try to re-download it again in case you have bad download
Swyped from my Desire S using XDA Premium
I've tried installing it a few times and always the same problem. The MD5SUM value is correct for the download but is there still a chance it could be bad.
I also tried installing an earlier version Reaper 2.0 but had the same problem with that.
Could it be a specific incompatibilty between something on my phone and Reaper since the other ROMs I've tried all work OK?

No, your phone probably can't handle the default voltage settings. Search my posts on the reaper thread for a "stability patch" I posted for a early version. You're the third person with this problem.
Cheers

Thanks for the advice, I'll try it tonight. Hopefully it will work since it seems like a graet ROM.
Thanks lowveld, the stability patch worked perfectly.

Restore Problem!!!

Hi all, I've flashed several roms onto my sensation over the last 4-5 months and have never had a problem. Each time I've backed up and restored the phone before loading a new rom. Most recently (2-3 weeks ago) I flashed the Android_Revolution_HD-Sensation_6.5.1_XE rom and have since had some issues with my handset. To rule out it being a rom fault I've tried to do several restores today but end up getting stuck on the htc boot screen!!
I installed the new firmware etc for ARHD 6.5.1 as was said to do, incase thats anything to do with it. I have 2 backups on my one sd card, first back to ARHD 3.6.1 which is what i was running before ARHD 6.5.1 and one back to stock rom before i flashed ARHD 3.6.1. On another sd card I have a stock rom backup from when I tried my first 2 roms.
I've tried restoring from all of these too no avail and really need to get my phone back running.
One last thing is the ARHD 3.6.1 zip file is no longer on my laptop or the sd card Is this why it now wont boot???
Hopefully someone can help me asap!
Many Thanks in advance
Matt
You need to flash the correct firmware for the rom that's on your backup, then restore back up and you should be fine.

Download the newest pg58img file and update it. I had the same problem when I first flashing.

Sorry for delayed response, thanks to the guys that got back to me about this. I re-flashed ARHD 6.5.1 and got the phone back working but would still really like to go back to my back ups. How do i get the correct firmware?? The only time I upgraged the firmware was for the ARHD 6.5.1 rom so firmware before im guessing was just stock!! Any help?
Cheers

Yeah all backups are gingerbread. I've downloaded the 1.17 firmware after following craven667 post. Will hopefully get to try it later but sd card is full at the minute so cant run titanium backup, which is typical. Thanks again for your help

Att One X 2.20 Unlock S-On Bootloop Cycle Before Actually Booting!

Okay so I call myself scouring the net for anyone who has had the same issue as me. I am stock with BeastMod kernel on 2.20. Also WiFi tether tweak installed. Whenever I restart phone bookshops three or four times then eventually boots. Everything I have found had been for infinite bootlooping. All I really ask for is a point in the right direction. This is my first HTC phone since I was loading android from SD card on HTC Pure. I have done a little bit with the Inspire and have unbricke Evos for friends but just can't figure this situation out. Any help would be appreciated.
Update: Fixed by flashing boot.IMG from stock then refreshing kernel and boot.IMG created by kernel. Now I am experiencing WiFi error so it looks like I will be starting from scratch again.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
change kernel settings or try another kernel
Tried that. Went to stock kernel and experienced the same issue. I noticed that there was no need to fastboot flash the beastmod kernel. I used flashgui to flash stock kernel and sure enough on restart a fee bootloops then boom it starts. So I reinstalled beastmod because it's just an awesome kernel and the problem persist. Another question I tried flashing a Rom which led to my internal not being read. Fixed that problem and the bootloops have been happening ever since. Guess I just need to start from scratch. Just did that a week ago when I trade my Skyrocket for this phone (got lucky there).
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
don't factory reset in bootloader or it will corrupt your sdcard. have you tried flashing a custom rom?
Haven't flashed a custom yet. Just can't really find one I like well enough to flash.
