Light emitting from bottom right corner - HTC Sensation

hey guys, I just got my replacement after my screeen went blank. The new phone after only using it for about 2 days I just notice a small light from the touch menus being emitted from the right corner. It seems the plastic strip sorrounding the outter is loose. I just cant help stare at the defective corner that keeps brighting my attention.. I believe its defective because my first phone didnt do this.. Before I call tmobile can anyone tell me if its normal?
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA App

NOT NORMAL.
I would get it replaced asap.

Maybe I'm being ocd with my phone and ill order a case for it to block out the lower right lighting that distracts me or replace it
Imagine you paunt a glass black then emit light under it. You look at the top surface you notice light going through at the lower right edge with a case around the glass..
Im having bad luck with phones
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA App

Mine does it But in the bottom left corner, just noticed it today
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App

It's normal. I have the same issue..
I read in a review that it was a common issue or something like that...
Im looking for the review to post up the url but I can't seem to find it...
But don't worry about it, its fine
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA Premium App

I guess ill live with it and buy a case tomorrow online to cover the issue. Its nice to see its a common problem and IM not the only one but is it worthy of warranty?
I wont worry about it.
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA App

Same here bottom left, thought it was the backplate at first, but its the screen, as it exists even with back cover off

It seems nobody notice until now lol
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA App

Mine had the same issue but on the left side. It didn't feel like anything was loose or broken just an error in manufacturing. I also remember reading a review that mentioned this problem.
My biggest worry would be more dust getting in.

(Sorry guys, the forum won't allow me to post pics yet. I'll add them once I up my post count)
Hi guys, new to this site and just registered (been lurking hardcore for a while lol). I'm fortunate this thread popped up because I believe I'm having the same issue. Here's some pics, you can see the light emanating from the area that the capacitive buttons are to the left of the homescreen button (it has the same light blue color to it):
I know the pics aren't too great; it's hard to capture such a small amount of light with a P+S. I'm also wondering if because of this issue I can get the phone replaced. I know it's a small issue, but I'm paying $7.99 a month right now for TMob's Premium Handset Protection (anyone else?) which supposedly covers malfunctions. I'm just not sure if this can be called a malfunction. Lastly, I'm curious to see if I could get a replacement Sensation because I'm interested in rooting and would want to take care of this issue now before I start venturing into the warranty-killing zone.

Pictures, as promised:

I had a similar problem, but from the left side. It was on my old Sensation (that I returned for other reasons) but it showed up about two weeks after I owned it. I think it's a common problem.

I have exactly the same, at the bottom right corner.
It was here since the very first day I got my Sensation.
2 months later, the size of this "light spot" hasn't increased, and most important: I have no dust under my screen (despite I used my Sensation as an hicking GPS in the Corsican mountains, touching it it with dirty hands, using it on dusty tracks, etc)
So I guess there's no need to worry about it.

I have the same thing bottom right corner speck of light. TPU case covers it though. No dust under the screen so no worries.

Mine is fine.

No lie its stupid crap like this that would pissed me off. Id exchange right away! Everytime I read these post like this it makes me double check my phone. So far it has no problems *knocks on wood.*

HTC Sensation battery door

I was looking for battery doors for my HTC Sensation and I came across this nice looking one
http://cgi.ebay.com/ORIGINAL-OEM-HT...I&otn=5&po=LVI&ps=63&clkid=719848830771970651
I wonder if it will work the same as the one that comes with the Sensation. It looks a lot better in my opinion
looks great. can't wait til they start making some that aren't dual tone and without that ugly curve design.
1. @ $81 it's kind of spendy
2. Does not look the same as our battery covers, will antennas work fine?
3. Definitely better design then TMOUS ugly tri-colored one.
Thanks for the info
You know that's the housing AND the battery door (three pieces) right? I saw just the back cover selling on ebay for around $52.
Here is the back only
http://cgi.ebay.com/REPLACEMENT-BATTERY-COVER-HTC-SENSATION-/320715342088?pt=UK_Mobiles_Accessories_RL&hash=item4aac1fc108
It is still rather expensive, even considering how it needs to have the antennas.
I'm hoping it will come down in price once more sellers get into it. However this has helped me decide that I won't use a case for the back (was just looking for an excuse to swap backs covers)
Not bad. But yeah I'm going to wait till it get lower
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
Who need case after that? If it scratches then just replace cover (they will get cheaper) which is the whole body! How cool is that!
It's awesome! But what happens if you drop the phone? I like using a case for shock absorption!
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA Premium App
You definitely make a valid point BonesRed.
However in order to achieve good shock absorption the case would add more bulk than I would ever consider using. The thickest case product I use on phones are the variety of 'skins' or 'shields', and those offer almost no shock absorption value.
Also this gives me an excuse to swap the tri-colored back for one that is dual-colored, which IMO looks better and prob should have been released this way in the first place.

I love the stock back, im surprised so many hate it.
Someone should make a battery cover with a protective rubber layer already attached.
Anybody knows where to get the back cover for t-mobile with 3 antenna connectors on top part? I placed an order with waresphere and they told me they don't have it in stock and raising the price when it becomes available.
Hello, first excuse my english I'm french.
I do not know if any of you to change the casing of the sensation, but no longer mine, if somebody is selling the original. I am close to you buy it, Thanks
I hope the price goes down in the next few months, i'll get one eventually

[FIX] Sensation Display Responsiveness

Hi,
I've been experiencing issues with my sensations screen not being very responsive i.e:
- taking 5 attempts to unlock the phone
- opening random apps I didnt press when scrolling through the menu
- pressing the wrong things
- not being able to write a message properly because your key presses are not registering.
- generally being very frustrating and making it hard to use the phone.
Now I know there is another thread which tells you to fully discharge your phone then leave it over night etc etc ... this worked for a few hours but didn't stick. The problem came back.
Well I have found a solution that has worked for me. So im hoping it works for all you guys. I've found out that its a GROUNDING issue. The phone case is not connecting well to the inner part.
Guide:
1. Turn off and dismatle the phone.
2. Remove battery.
3. See image below....
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",

4. As the image sugests ... gently scratch the surface of these orange strips where the pins will touch. Use a coin, screwdriver or anything small and metal.
** SCRATCH GENTLY - IT DOESNT TAKE MUCH!!! GENTLY!!!
5. Do this for all the orange strips and the little silver one up the side of the case.
6. Once you have done this you can give the case a quick clean (I just rubbed all the dust and blew on it) gets rid of any dust etc.
7. Thats it. Put it all back together and fire it up.
** Optional - I eased the little pins ringed in red out with a small screwdriver - just to give them that extra push when connecting to the outer shell. Dont have to do this.
-----------------------------------
Now I know this is not ideal but it has worked for me. My phone is blistering now with no issues when zipping around the menus. Screen unlocks in one go.
I will be testing the phone throughout the day and reporting back my findings. But for the past 2 hours Its been perfect.
Hope this helps you guys out.
ciao.
**Note - My phone is S-OFF and i'm using Android Revolution ROM**
I have no issues so can't offer any confirmation. Hope it works out. I've been "concerned" about those contacts since I saw the design. I wonder if that has anything to do with the wifi issues? Certainly easy and cheap enough to test.
Thanks.
these connectors are coated with gold or either silver, so they will not oxidate (not know if I'm using the correct word in egnglish).
Once scratched the surface, it will oxidate a lot easyer and faster, so the problem will only get worser in the end

If it's gold and you scrape it off that could be true. Perhaps bending the contacts slightly for a bit more pressure could help. But then we'll see posts of people breaking them...
This as you said could be true. Although I have only marked a circle where the pins will make the best contact. The rest of the strip I have left covered in this gold layer. I've been using my phone allday and I can honestly say it has helped a lot! No screen issues whatsoever.

The contact points are what matter. If those corrode the problem would just come back. It takes longer than a day for corrosion to appear. Bad contact at the points you've indicated would certainly cause problems. What you don't want to do is get short term gain and long term trouble.
Assuming the problem is dirty contacts this could be a better option than scraping:
http://www.ohmcheck.com/clean_connector.htm
If the issue is contact pressure then slight bending of the spring parts could help.
htc need to design a new cover
i was having the same issues as you for the second week of owning the phone, first week was flawless. Through the third week however i noticed that the problems all disappeared of their own accord and returned to its out of the box state in terms of responsiveness.
Try it tonight..
It's a good shout but a bit extreme. As someone said, it could get worse in the long run.
I'll take liberty to recommend to only scratch silver pin contact on back cover. It's alluminium anyway, so can be repeated if it gets oxidated.
DO NOT SCRATCH GOLDEN CONTACTS. They are for WiFi and network antennas and have no contact with body.
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA App
Not to threadbash or flame or anything. But how does this help? I understand you said it is a grounding issue... but my phone seems to work fine *fingers crossed* and it works fine with or without the back cover on; so what does grounding have to do with anything?
There was juts one time that I missed a call, as it wouldn't slide into answer properly ...
Well i have been using the phone for over 24 hours now and the screen is still working perfectly and I have no issues with WIFI or mobile signal what so ever.
Looking at the case again, I would agree with only scratching the silver strip seeing as that's the only connecting part to the outer case.
Regarding the grounding, with my issue... My phone screen didn't function correctly without contact with the case. When I touched a certain part of the case it worked. Personally I wouldn't have designed the sensation case to work in this way, I'd have kept it similar to the DHD case but hey ho.

Dust under screen

I got a spec of dust under my screen. Anyone else have this problem?
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
Not as of yet, back in my Nexus One days I did have that issue though and the fix was pretty simple.
Hold the phone by the edges and squeeze it a bit, if you hear like a clicking sound the seal between the glass and or digitizer and phone body is loose. Grab your wife's hairdryer (yes she will stare at you, I find it best to stare back as if to say whatcha ya looking at..sometimes that works however ymmv) and heat up the corners where you heard the click sound then squeeze them together for 15-20 seconds.
What I did though was sent mine back and as soon as my new one came I fixed it. Never had an issue with it since.
I haven't seen this problem on the 3 G2X's that I've owned. Try sending it back, but tell them it's not powering on or something.
You might have the only G2x made by HTC.

well I have one tiny dust spec that I can only see when I look at the display under sunlight. It bothered me so much I requested a replacement, hoping that I would get one that didn't have this problem.
I just got the replacement a couple days ago, and there's like 6 specs of dust under the screen, although you have to hold it under bright or sunlight to see it.
I'm sending back the replacement and I'm holding on to my current one since that's the only flaw, but it's nice to know this is common.
I'll bet alot of ppl have this problem but doesn't notice the dust until someone points it out to them like the screen bleed issue.
Gonna be a lot of G2x owners looking for dust under bright light now. hehe

I find that there's a strong correlation between the amount of times I drop the device and the force at which I drop it and the amount of alcohol that I've drunk.

Distracted by the girl and dropped on concrete, the phone was in a plastic case-mate. As a result, broke into two pieces and get a little scratch, has long been frustrated. But as they say, things for us, not we for things. Protect and take care of your phone.

drop 2 times.
1) from about 15cm to wooden table, no effect.
2) about 1 meter to tile floor resulting some dent on top edge.
both situation happened without protective cover.
My total ownage of 3 months. and I've dropped it only once
I'm usually very careful of my gadgets, they are always fully protected with invisible shields/thick leather cases etc.
My phone is still in perfect condition. apart from a small small chip (the size of a full stop) on the top of the phone (near headset port)
It really bugs me now! I can see a white patch, where the paint came off.
I got the scratch when a door hit my phone... And it was through my pocket!

Really, it happened while the screen was facing in against your body? That's bizarre. I learned the same lesson, luckily on my old Samusng Blackjack, and it only cracked the screen cover, not the screen itself--I leaned against a table corner and heard the "pop" when it happened.
I also find it weird that it cracked while the screen was against your leg...If it was facing outwards then I could understand. I dented the side of my Macbook Pro by accidentally hitting it against a railing while it was in a padded carry bag. You'd be surprised at how much force you exert even with just a tap.
Though, I guess hitting the back of the case really hard may crack the screen. My friend had one of those indestructable Nokia flip phones and it took a shot from a competition air rifle (.1775) at 10m to crack the screen...and we shot the outer casing (which only left a dent)
I think I bumped into a table and it "bent" the phone enough to crack the glass?? I don't know............anyways, I'll get a new one soon (I hope).......

It may have broke from just your pants pocket. Normally, when you stick the phone in your pocket it will be in portrait mode, but occasionally it will fall into landscape. When this happens and you sit down your pants pocket will push the phone against your leg very tightly and bend it, possibly to the breaking point if you don't notice it right away and shift your weight right. Try it.
Of course, this largely depends on the type of clothing you wear... It should be noted that this can happen with any phone. I've never had it happen but I've come close to it with my HTC Aria.

Lol the aria is tiny. Get an otterbox on it and it will never change orientation in a pants pocket unless you're a hipster wearing trip pants with giant pockets.
