I know, but will any developer be willing to do a port just like desire and hd2?

Is be happier getting a quick port of Ice Cream Sandwich than honeycomb.

But god knows when its going to come out.

My own opinion is that vanilla is better for our phone rather than honeycomb... coz honeycomb is optimize for tablets and vanilla i guess for our phones... and if you were to ask me which i would choose personally i would say vanilla vanilla ice cream taste nice too ! or maybe after vanilla maybe google will develop a new os called chocolate ice cream? ^__^

Vanilla = AOSP build with no overlays.
Honeycomb can be vanilla build or have overlay added (such as TouchWiz or Sense)
Ice Cream - next generation of Android which will blend Honeycomb and Gingerbread so one system can be used on both phones and tablets.

After Ice Cream Sandwich its gonna be a little cup of J-E-L-L-O. LOL
Sent from my HTC Thunderbolt

Google is not going to release the source for Honeycomb, so there is no hope for a port. Wait until Ice Cream Sandwich.

No but hopefully we can have Ice Cream Sandwich once it's released.

obviously you don't own a tablet? because if you did like I do you would understand how stupid it would be to have a 4.3" screen displaying honeycomb. it would look foolish. You can always use a launcher with a honeycomb theme if you are that desperate to try honeycomb...

One to see if it was possible and other just to make my phone atleast look like it.

Why honeycomb? The build 2.3.4 is for a smartphone very good at the moment.

Yeah, hopefully this allows for a bug-free Gingerbread/Sense ROM on our mt4g's.
I take away two things from this. First, it shows just how much T-Mobile SUCKS. Why they insist on having a fugly, customized (read bastardized) version of Sense on their HTC phones. Second, why they can't come out with a Gingerbread update in a timely manner is beyond me. The EVO will have Gingerbread in two months, and that phone isn't near as powerful and came out long before the MT4G! Rant over.
This is actually awesome news. This could give us the kernel source we've been waiting for forever, in addition to a ROM that can be directly ported (much like the Desire HD ROMs).

If it takes till June the Mobilicity HTC Emerald will hopefully be out before then.
And it's running the nicer (IMO) version of Sense!
2.3 is already scheduled for Q2

I love tmobile's twist on sense, I never stay on another ROM (Cyanogen, Desire ports, or anything) cuz they're not like our stock sense. Even if it compromises speed/memory or something, I doubt it's not much what with all the power our phone has. Just my opinion, so an official tmobile release is gonna be rad!

theres a new ROM now that has the 2.3 update .

They'll be calling it the HTC "Panache".
I noticed the Genius button is gone, back to a plain old search button.
I hope they don't lock down this variant as stringently as the Incredible S. I wonder if there's any hardware differences that'd make it incompatible with a RUU from the MT4G?

Stock Sense is less hungry than Mysense/espresso IMHO. Mysense has genius plus other crap in the background compared to stock so it uses more ram.

Ice Cream Sandwich on the Sensation?

I saw googles video of Ice Cream Sandwich running on a Nexus S, I'm guessing this means our device will be more than capable to run it?

We will most likely get it, not sure when HTC will push it as they will need to have Sense on it. Custom ROMS will most likely be soon after release

You will probably get updates on XDA far faster than you would OTA. But just chill, it'll come. It's not like our phones can't handle it, and we have a handful of talented devs trying to get some beerz for their hard work.
As soon as the developers get their hands on the rom it will be ported to the sensation and many other phones shortly after. Relax and worry about more important things for now.
They have to honour the agreement with Google. Therefore yes, we will get all Android updates till like 2012..

[Q] Ice Cream Sandwich

Do you guys think the mytouch 4g slide will get an Ice Cream Sandwich update swiftly?
Doubtful. T mobile, and all US carriers in general are absolutely abysmal when it comes to rolling out updates on time. Normally the rest of the world is an update or two ahead of us when it comes to official updates.

It already uses both cores. This is implemented below the android layer -- in the kernel itself. The Linux kernel has always been SMP.

I don't agree. Htc sense is a beautiful, user friendly and blazing fast in the right hands. I'm not too crazy about alpha stage anything, just happy I can flash it and I'm referring to ICS.
I want as many UI as possible that includes motoblur, HTC sense, aosp android, etc. Lack of different UIs is the main reason I miss my OG Evo. I ran twice as many UIs on my Evo, crackflasher heaven.
Sent from my Android 4.0.1 Linux S 4G using xda premium
Actually yeah..the more the merrier..even motoblur which i hate but would be fun to try it for like a week...plus the number of quality roms is the reason i bought a nexus...but it seems nt many uis available...
This is huge. If we can get this ported successfully we would have the basic framework to port tmartin builds warm 2.2, and xxvirusxx builds. So far the only sense Rom for the nexus is for the gsm phones, and that goes beyond just editing the build prop to work.

HTC posted the ics phone that will get ics

Looks like the final official htc phone list is out... any thoughts..
The Desire HD should be getting ICS July/August. That means before sept we will most likely have a Sense ICS kernel. When they release the source we'll have custom Sense ICS kernels.
Nice to know there are still things to do on our old phones.
