I installed this rom and I thought that even it had a problem cause after I loaded the weather widget it said current location not the name of the location but with the stock rom somehow it gives the name of my current location. and I tried searching calibrate the GPS too. Please do tell me if anyone knows about this! thanks

Not sure, but this could be your problem...

Look in System\etc\gps.conf and see what navigation map is loaded.

Yea maybe that's the problem cause whenever I'm at my house I don't get any signals, It says Current location something. and I tried it outside and it actually worked properly and showed me the right directions. thank you two..

GPS on AT&T Fuze with ROGERS?

Hey ive unlocked and flashed to a sweet NRG rom and love it. I just want to use google Maps (or something similar) to find my position on a map (turn by turn maybe?). I remember with my iPhone when I first had it the GPS worked great then one day I was never able to get my actual position (just within a certain amount of meters).
Did rogers shut down GPS?
Now on my new phone when I goto "GPS location" in google maps it searches for a satellite but doesnt seem to get my position (0)... Is there a setting I can turn on to allow GPS or do I need to cal rogers and rip on someone? LOL
keep up the great work guys!!!

GPS on the HTC is using the basic GPS Signal coming from satellites. Are u outside or near a window to a fix ?
Look http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_Positioning_System
What u used was A-GPS what is assisted GPS with help from Cell Phone provider. It gives faster fix and a pseude gps in buildings.
Go outside with ur cellphone with clear sky view, start the htc gps tool and u should get position fix within some minutes or even seconds. There is no need for 3g because the gps itself does not need any cellphone connection. It takes satellite signals to calculate the position.
When u update quick gps it is faster in the position fix because it already knows some basic sat data. But still no phone connection necessary for using GPS.
The google map u then only see with data (3g or wlan) not because of the GPS but because of the drawed map graphics wich have to be loaded.
ok i will try the outside thing although I have the phone pointed to the window pretty much. Checking rogers website both phones only have a-GPS but I still cant get an actual location on either. Only about a 4 block square or circle.
EDIT: ok i enabled A-GPS on the touch pro and still no luck with google maps. It still seems to be looking for actual GPS
OK im managed to get it working. I changed the port to com5 and scanned found some sat's I had to change the bit thing to 56700 on com5 within google maps. Seems to be working like a charm!

[Q] No GPS signal on Navigon Select app on HTC HD7

Hi Guys,
I have installed Navigon Select on my HTC HD7 as explained in "Navigon Select GPS Navigation for WP7" but for some strange reason I am not able to see my current location, when I navigate to in the application I go to "GPS Info" it always says 0.0 and 0.0
My GPS location in turned on in the settings.
I get a pop-up message when i lunch the application that "Mobile Navigator" uses GPS data to locagte your position.
I thought that my gps might be broken but no... on the bing maps it shows exact location based on the GPS not on the mobile network signal.
I also tried "TA Maps" google maps and it shows location correctly...
I have reinstalled the navigon app but i got same results...
any help would be much appreciated,
ps. i wasn't able to replay to the post "Navigon Select GPS Navigation for WP7" because its my first post.

For anybody else who might have the same problem:
I got my gps on navigon working after uninstalling some of the apps which were also using GPS it seemed for me like there is a limit of how many apps can use GPS signal. I must admit I had about 20.

[Q] Weather Widget shows wrong location on my new TF

I just got my brand NEW Asus TF 16GB from Amazon. I did the update first.
Then I noticed that it displays the wrong location in the weather widget.
I have GPS, Wifi and Google location tracking enabled.
Anyone else got the wrong location with this Tablet? Any way to get it work properly? I have not tried a different location either.
oh and google map app shows the correct location so I guess it knows where it is. Strange...
I know I can set it manually but I would like to know if it can be fixed to work in auto mode.
Any how this is a great site full of TF information.
Thanks in advance...
VeeKay
yeah, I hope there is a fix for this.
Mine also pinpoints me fine on the map.
But, weather widget says i'm in a small community, two cities away.
And a search to enter location manually, finds my city no problem.
Of course I prefer to leave it on AUTO.
Tap the weather widget and you can set your location manually, or force it to refresh.
I manually set mine to my location, then turned it back to automatic and it's been fine since.
Thanks for the tip
I tried that but unfortunately it didn't work. It goes back to the wrong location
I all of a sudden started having this issue. When i'm at home it says that i'm in a city that's more than 40 miles away which I've never even traveled near with my TF.
I've tried deleting the widget, checking google maps, and still it puts me in the wrong location.
This started happening less than a week ago.
Mine has said "Asahi ku" since I got it... I have no idea where that is.
Does anyone have an alternate GPS program installed like Locus?
I uninstalled that and it looks to be working fine now.

Ok I spoke prematurely.
If I go into Google maps, it places me in the right location but for some reason, starts out in the location 40 miles away.
The Asus widget seems to be broken.

Strange GPS issue

My Nexus 5 running 4.4.4 has starting acting strangely this morning with anything to do with location services.
Only started this morning when I went to show a colleague the Waze app. Said my current location is Haworth, Yorkshire!?! I am actually at Watford Junction station Hertfordshire! Lol!
Even tried Google Now navigation and said 212 miles to home!!! So it remembers where I live?
I have never been to Haworth, let alone being there now.
Have tried rebooting phone, indoors and outdoors, turning off all location services and it is still showing wrong location?
Anyone have any ideas?

Have you tried in a completely different location, or go into Location settings and set it to Device only to force GPS and wait for a fix. It might just be your phone is defaulting to Wi-Fi location, and a new access point has appeared near to you that used to be in North Yorkshire!
Regards
Phil

Tried device GPS only, and not GPS/data/wifi, and picking me up fine. GPS on its own, mobile network on its own, both work fine, but not the 2 together?
It is very strange as it only started happening this week and only when I go into the mess/break room at Watford Junction station. And always Haworth! But now, as soon as I step out of the door, it sorts itself out within a minute or 2. But it does happens every time I go into there now! There is a wifi signal at work, but cannot pick it up in the mess room, so can't be that interfering?
It is not a biggy as not as if I need a satnav to drive my train! lol! And to see the weather, I look out of the door (no windows!)

Samsung I9195 CM13 GPS problem - check antenna

Hello community,
thanks in advance, I have used this site as a knowledge base many times in the past and always found something helpful. Now, however, I will have to ask since I don't now what to do anymore.
I run an i9195 (serranoltexxx) with cm13 and gapps installed. Everything worked just fine. Then I dropped my phone into a bucket of water/household cleaning agent, took out the battery immediately and dried the phone. When I took out the battery, the inside of the device was still dry. After that, I could not use the earpiece for a few days, but this issue has healed itself. Also after this incident happened, my gps was still working.
Now, all of a sudden, gps does not work anymore. I have tried google maps naviation app, gps test and gps status to check, no satellites are found. When using google maps and driving around, the device keeps the rough location, I assume by using the other sources like wifi networks or broadcast cells. Hence I do not think that the location service is entirely faulty.
Now, do you think this is a software or a hardware problem? How can I find out wether or not the gps antenna is broken and needs to be changed? Please be a bit gentle with your answers, I do use a custom rom but would not describe myself as an experienced user
