Still no update on my phone =(
anyone know wtfsup?
i hear the refurb ones may have a delay
when i try to check for software update i get the Connection Failed error
not even sure if i have a refurb but it was replaced so it could be,,
Tmo pulled the ota. Use the LG updater at your own peril.

The LF updater will only fail you if you can't read. Instructions are clear. Took me all of 30 minutes to update from LG, revert back to froyo [I only wanted the baseband from the update], root and apply a custom GB rom.
I'm pretty sure theres a thread on how to update it with the kdz file.

Use the LG updater. It's the same build and it's really easy. It's not like it's unofficial or anything. It comes from LG's website.
OR flash one of the many gingerbread roms in the dev section.. thats why this forum exists isnt it?
just flash cyanogenmod and be done with it. its a much much better user experience. i even have iphone owners going wow that phone is nice when it comes to responsiveness. i dare anyone to get a iphone owner to say that with stock.

I would do that, as soon as I get the updated baseband from the official update, which seems to fix the gps issues I'm having for some people.
don't feel bad. i just updated my wife's g2 last night w/ a system update. She got 2.3.4. I thought the g2x which i have was a better phone my bad tmobile its only good enough for 2.3.3. you wonder why people are leaving.

I second this. The latest nightly is very stable, feature rich, and boots in under 10 seconds. Its crazy!
G2X CM7
I just flashed cm7, but I'm back to stock again waiting for the ota. It's incredibly stable compared to some of the nightlies I tried out a month or two ago, but I still have no gps lock. Pretty darn sure at this point its the baseband.
On a side note, has a2dp been fixed on cm? I forgot to check.
im loving ota... i can do alll on ota that i can do on cm if you know what your doing... eblood 2.3.3

is there a stock rom that can be flashed to just put the phone back in its original form? im planning on returning my phone and the unroot is super simple, but idk how to get back to the stock rom.
why are you returning?

put in clockworkmod backup folder and restore than use super one click to unroot, and factory reset. T-Mobile will never know:

i know that the kinks will be worked out eventually but this phone isnt even stable for me on the stock rom, just gonna get something more stable for the time being, i cant handle having a glitchy slow phone, especially when its suppose to be as good as this phone is.
edit: also im looking for an actual rom not a nandroid backup, something i just flash from the sd card like any other rom, i've had stock roms to restore for every phone ive had, its just convenient to be able to flash back to stock for returns and repairs

the nandroid backup i provided would be as if your flashing. there are no extra apps. you just restore and than you unroot and factory reset. did you try eagleblood rom it makes the phone better than what it truly is. i was about to return and i tried that rom and its amazing.

i didnt realize how easy the nandroid thing was, but yeah i tried eagles blood rom, it was nice, it ran like stock without bloat and had a few cool color changes, but i still got the lag on my lock screen, randomly my audio files stop working til i rebooted and just other random lock ups with videos.
its a shame cuz i love the way the phone looks, and i might kick myself in the ass for returning it someday, but right now i just dont wanna wait for those kinks to get worked out, cm7 has alot of work ahead before its stable on this phone, and some of the issues im not even sure if cm7 can fix since they seem universal.

The lag on the lock screen is one of many things that will be fixed in the 2.3.3 update due later this month. Every preview that I watched before this phone was released said that this phone was meant to run 2.3.3. I guess they wanted to beat HTC out with duel core so the released it with 2.2. Watch the video on this link g2x running 2.3.3. This is the nature of any phone when first released. There will be bugs. Besides going out and just getting a different phone may not be so easy. Since this phone runs vanilla android it is a lot easier to update.

Not 2.3.x but 2.4. They rushed it ahead of that. Will wait for that unless there is a real good OC lv kernel for 2.3 and not stock/modded stock.

Hey.
How to get the latest baseband? Anyway?
The new gingerbread came with different baseband, but none of the roms here have it yet....
so I want to know is there some way of getting it onto the gingerbread official rom zip posted here?
I have cm7 now, so I can flash nandroid froyo backup, then do the update via lg website, which will get me the gingerbread and new baseband, and then flash over the gingerbread zip which is rooted over gingerbread previously installed?
Is there an easier way?
wrong forum dude

To answer. Nope. Not yet. Wait till tomorrow. TheDude is supposed to be making a flashable zip
XDA Mobile
Once they fully test it they will release it. Can you imagine hundreds of people blindly flashing bad basebands?
Asus Transformer 3.1 pwnd

www.SnapSiteAdmins.com
I was asking about this earlier in the q&a forum.
It doesn't seem like its a universal baseband seeing as the update is made only available for the P999DW and not the DWP, so if you have a DWP and flash the DW baseband, you could be in store for some bad times.
Running just the rom right now seems to be just fine on the DWP, for me that is, as always though, ymmv.

I can't say with 100% certainty, but from what I know and have learned, my DW suffered from screen bleed, reboots, freezes, S.O.D., GPS problems, and such, I got the DWP as a replacement and I've had none of those issues yet

We all can flash the new baseband with LG own update tool. Developers are not taking care of us at all as we can flash it.
The only thing that developers are doing it preventing us from having root with it which makes no difference.

Good question.
I have a replacement coming, and am now reluctant to let a LG Updater anyway near it. If no significant improvements, will pass it by.

The newer baseband "should" be an upgrade over the old one. Its too early to tell.
I dont know about you guys but reception, data and battery used by the original radio for this phone sucked the big pastrami for me. I get no bars where my vibrant and NXS get at least two, thus this thing is sucking the battery searching for signal. And this happens to be at work where i spend 50 hours a week at. This issue alone makes me very disappointed with my g2x.

i seee, well i get good reception and goood data. almost 4g all the places i go,,, i guess it really depends on where u live, but i get greaaat battery ever since i switched to dark and sinister froyo, i got fauxs kernel sv and uved it in set cpu.... yesterday it was going for 15 hours and i still had 46 % left.... that was with moderate to light use.... ive been very happy with that rom! but for me i dont really care to make the effort just for a new baseband lol ill jus chilll
OTA 2.3.3 kernels?
I believe there were some kernels that worked on paul's leaked GB and ROM's based on that, but i do not recall. I am assuming hey will work on this.
Anyone remember, and if so, could you post?
I got my MTS4G last week. I rooted my phone before I installed anything. I wanted the ability to use my full version of Titanium. In this I suceeded.
BUT
When I tried to use my copy of ROM Manager, it will not let me do anything with it because I need the Clockwork Mod. My phone is not listed.
Here, I keep seeing references to MoDaCo.
When I had my G2, I rooted with a long process through adb then updated back and forth with ROM Manager. Mostly I had the CM7 nightlies.
Now, there is nothing for my new (replacement) phone. Just saw a new one posted yesterday but it needs MoDaCo to install.
So, where do I go from here?

That's really just the Modaco recovery. There is no "official" koush ClockworkMod Recovery for the MT4GS. And there is still not yet support for the MT4GS in ROM Manager so you're not going to see your device there yet. Just keep your eyes peeled, sooner or later we'll get full official support once they realize how kick ass this device truly is!
Agreed. New devices don't always have full dev support right off the bat. It usually takes a couple of months before CWM supports a device and another month or two before it sees CM.
so there is still hope we will be supported officially? I am s-off and rooted, I have been waiting to do the same to my boyfriend's phone, because he has no experience dealing with any small problems that may come up, like the charging issue. I am hoping by getting supported with an "official" recovery he will let me root his phone, and CM7 would be awesome....still waiting on the kernel though....

I mean there's some hope. We had word that koush was working on an official recovery but I haven't heard anything in a long time from anyone so who knows. If he doesn't know how to handle any issues that may come up then you'd be better off not rooting his phone honestly. The kernel will come out eventually but probably another month or so. CM7 will be a while too, as there aren't many devs out there that care about our phone - which is unfortunate cause it's such a beast. But for the meantime there are some great stock(ish) ROMs in the dev section and the support for them is incredible!

Now that it is finally stable, I would recommend nothing other than CM7 (that's because I have yet to need to try anything else). I have heard great things about Weapon G2x, though. Just remember: wipe, wipe, and wipe.

Try rooted stock for a while to get a feel for the phone. I have been running stock GB since it came out and am very happy with it.
there are soo many roms to choose from. just find one that suits you. you'll never be bored lol
I am bored, they're all the same just a little ui change. My best is Froyo for this dumb g2x phone.. I tried all the Roms that are 2.3.3 and they keep freezing l,rebooting, shutting down.. its very stable on froyo. I don't understand how others are not having issues but oh well, its dual and already paid for.. and plus, I gotta try to stop wanting the best everytime I have a working phone
