Hi,
I am new to the forum and appreciate your help
I did a OTA update to 1.35.707.1 after which i cannot turn on WiFi. It tries to turn on after which it indicates error.
Please suggest a solution for this......is it possible to roll back to the previous software version of 1.28
Try a factory reset. Go to settings, SD & Phone storage and click on Factory data reset. Keep in mind this will erase everything on your phone.
Tried a factory reset...still not successful.
Is it possible to downgrade ROM to version 1.28.....
I experienced this exact same problem today when helping a customer with their HTC sensation. I tried the Factory Data Reset as well and still got the same error. The only solution I found was to tell the customer to contact customer support to get a replacement unit. I'm not sure if it is a software issue of if there is some issue with the wifi antenna in the device itself.
Damn, I have the same issue, how long does the warrenty cover the unit for? Can you just walk into the store for a replacement?

Bump thread, same issue here, turn on wifi, says error. Very sad
Same issue here, started to show the error just like that. The night before was working fine and the next day could not turn wifi on.
I did a superwipe and installed mike's Revolution HD 3.6.5 but still same issue.
Hope smb will find where is coming from and really hope is not a hardware issue.

You are lucky you can return it.
I purchased the phone through E-bay, seller in US and I am in europe, no chance for me to return it
Have been experimenting with ROM's and after a superwipe, clear dalvik, installed [ROM]LeeDROiD Sensational V3.1.0 [KERNEL] LeeDrOiD V3.3.0 | 19th Sept | FAST | STABLE , as i read somewhere on the forum that has ROM close to stock and have been cases it fixed the issue (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16125179&postcount=3)
but did not help me, the wi-fi still doesnt turn on at all.
Will update if i find anything or get any results.
Same issue.

That's four threads with the same issue.

later on did small research, it has a BCM4329EKUBG chip on it which responds for wifi, bt and fm, its not cheap solution to replace a flex, but for somebody this could be only way
Reheating this chip with hot-air fan (it was like 290-300 degrees) helped me, if you want to try this dont blame me if you mess it up !!

Makes sense, i did once cook a graphics card in an oven on 220 degrees for 20 mins and it brought it back from the dead, still working today, got a video of it somewhere.
So specifically, what did you do please? I'm in a place where i have lots of spare parts lying around from pretty much every phone you can think of, so what do i need please?
Many thanks for having the balls to even contemplate trying this.

first of all try a software repairs, cause i see a lot of people have similar problem after playing around with different roms
what i did, just disassemble the phone, take out that big flex cable. disconnect all cameras and flex cables you can (unless you want a blurry camera)
on a back of flex there is metal slab covering chip, took it out. after that i heat chip area for minute or so with my soldering heating gun, wait until it cools and install in the phone, after doing this operations it started working.
do it on your own risk

Alright! Now where is my soldering heating gun, I will have to try this one. Reverting to stock everything first in case I mess things up
Any luck??
Did you get it to work this way???
I have the same problem. I try installing ICS on the phone thinking it was a software error. I still have no wifi connection. Try *#*#4636#*#* and the status on the Wifi is Unknown (unintialized on Supplicant state)
Did any of you know where can I get this board (where the BCM4329EKUBG chip is located)?
Sent it back for RMA, changed both lcd screen (a single piece of dust) and rigid flex. Comes by air mail tonight!

THANK YOU SO MUCH vladvertigo (caps intended). I tried all the software fixes I could find, even went back to bone stock, S-ON and everything, so this was my last resort before buying a new flex ribbon assembly. I don't have a warranty because I bought the phone on Craigslist.
Anyway, I can confirm that using the heat gun for a minute worked. I made a heat shield out of an aluminum can, with a small square cut in it. Held it right above the bare chip, and the gun right above that. I disconnected the main camera, but not the FFC. Pretty sure I borked it in the process but it's no matter; I'd rather have working WiFi than the FFC. Which I do now, thanks to you! Woo!

Hello guys, got my One S a month ago, was really enjoying the phone, great speed, great UI, great Camera, etc..
But yesterday i accidentally dropped it, and from now on, my phone has signal issues. Most of the times it says "No Service", and sometimes when i grab the phone it says full strength, then 3 second later the signal drops.
What could it be? Maybe the antenna connector slipped off when i dropped the phone? It was a really low drop though.
Please, i need some help.

Those are antennas but they are not GSM/cell radio antennas. If someone wants to test this, look at your bars and then remove the cover. Nothing will happen. Your bluetooth will probably disconnect though...
Cell antennas are almost always in the base of the phone now near the mount, this is to reduce radiation while on a call.

Hey,
I also had dropped my phone recently and broke the screen. I got the screen replaced, however I seem to get terrible signal after that. I get full 5 bar signal in an open area but if i get into my home or office, i keep losing it. The signal bar keeps reducing and show 3,2-signal bars and then loose gsm connectivity completely. Wifi works pretty decent with no issues however.
Have any idea to fix this?
I had to send my HTC One S to repair. There was no other way of fixing it.
Could you post a picture of the "broken" antenna from you ?
Hi,
I have a simple GPS fix that worked for me. After posting and sharing in other forums this fix has also worked for many others who were frustrated with their GPS' not working, not locking onto satellites, and their phones acting erratically while navigating. Although this method seems too easy to be true, trust me it works and many people have confirmed that this method worked for them too and are now happy that their phone has a functional GPS and in some cases improved call quality.
I as well as many others performed many of the other fixes such as flashing back to stock, performing numerous battery pulls, using aGPS patches, making numerous edits to the gps.conf file, reprovisioning our phones, checking different ROMs, uninstalling/reinstalling Google Maps, clearing data for Google Maps and Google Service Framework, and so on. So before you do all of that please give my method a try.
I discovered this simple fix when I was trying to perform one of the other GPS fix procedures. The procedure required me to pull my battery. I noticed that when I removed my back cover the back frame that has all the screws (10 total) was slightly loose on the left side. Once I tightened them all my GPS worked immediately! Like I said, this method has been tested by many people and most of them report great success just by tightening their screws. If this method works for you you'll also notice that in addition to getting faster locks your navigation will work and won't drop your GPS signal.
Like I said it may not work for everyone but I would recommend that if you have a Samsung Galaxy S III definitely check the back frame of your phone and make sure you tighten the screws and make sure everything is secure. You too should now be able to achieve GPS locks consistently.
I hope this helps. If it does, as it has many others, please click thanks.
Cheers,
Syintiphic

I was pulling my hair over this issue. I replaced the phone with another one through T-Mobile for $20 and it had the SAME PROBLEM! All I ever did was flash the root injected version of the latest stock firmware. No upgrades to a 4.2.x rom. I tried reverting to the 4.0.4 rom. I tried a different gps.conf file. I was just about to do another warranty replacement when I found this thread. I almost wasn't going to attempt it because I thought it was a placebo. BOY WAS I WRONG! This fixed my phone. I'm still in shock!
EDIT: Well, I also discovered one more thing that was causing me grief with GPS. My wife's case! The case was interfering with the signal.
http://imgur.com/r7KPygA
Definitely works.... Instantly. I was standing outside of my house, with 0 locked out of 23 found (using GPS status), tightened screws (with GPS status still running) turned phone around and was locked onto 13/23.
My GPS stopped working about a month ago to the point that I could only get 1 or 2 locks wherever I was at. Thank you so much for posting such a simple fix.

Worked for me!
I have been battling this GPS issue since I got the phone, and it has been very annoying since September - November. But it really hit me this week traveling 300 miles out of state when using Navigation, I would randomly fly off the highway and into the streets with the navigation program throwing a fit about where to turn. It just couldn't hold a solid lock for anything. Luckily I had my Nexus 7 packed with me, and it's GPS is always spot on.

But after I saw a random post a few days ago about tightening the screws, I was at first skeptical, and had to wait until I was back home to get to my small screwdriver, but once I tightened all 10 screws, viola! It worked instantly!
I now get a lock within a few seconds, and even indoors. Saved myself a trip to VZW too. Thanks guys!
Thanks! Sounds crazy but seems like multiple people got it to work.
wow
For MONTHS I've been dealing with BAD GPS. Never less then 35feet lock with all satellites in Yellow (mediocre reception)
I just did this, and most of my screws seemed like they were pretty tight already but i found the perfect philips head bit and really tightened everything max. Went outside and ran same test. 10 feet accuracy lock with majority of satellites in GREEN.
WHAT SORCERY IS THIS!??? Wow Samsung, im a bit disappointed
BUT grateful for OP
thanks!
Re-tighten?
I posted in another thread that this helped my gps lock significantly. I was getting around 10/21 locks with fluctuating accuracy, but after tightening the screws, I got 21/21 lock at 9 feet accuracy.
However, for me, it seems like I have to loosen and retighten the screws every 2-3 days because I notice my gps getting worse. But as soon as I retighten them, it's back to being great.
Does anyone else have to keep retightening the screws?

Not yet on 2 GS3's. Hope I don't have to.
I did pose the question in another thread where this threads talked about beginning began : wonder what is happening when we tighten these screws....
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
Well here is my take on what I think the problem is and why the screw fix works.. Understand I'm not making any assertions that this is the cause or that I know what the hell I'm talking about..
The back of the case (not the battery cover) appears to have an antenna.. This area has a copper contact point which sits in the area where the GPS of the phone is located.. If this part of the phone is loose, it doesn't make a solid contact with what I believe is the GPS antenna..

Amazing. I saw this link in another thread. Intermittantly I have decent GPS with some serious issues where it won't work or doesn't work well. So last night right before I went to be I tried it in our basement. Normally I don't see more than 1 or 2 satellites when in the basement but last night I got lock on 13/18 in 20 seconds or less repeatedly. I checked my wife's s3 against mine as hers is usually better but it was still only getting 3-4 and no lock. So I quickly tried the same fix and again her phone could suddenly see more sats and got lock.
this was also an issue on the fascinate and some of the original galaxy's iirc.
Well thank you very much sir/madam! This worked like a charm!!!!

Every so often, very occasionally, I get a flicker of the whole screen that looks kinda like static on an old TV but with loads of colours. It only happens for a fraction of a second.
It actually used to happen on my Nexus 5 when I had an experimental build of CM on it but that was much more pronounced and sometimes would happen and stay until a reboot. The fact it was fixed by switching rom on that phone suggests it's not hardware issue as such but my Z3 is totally stock so I wouldn't expect it.
Anyone else seen anything similar?
I have got this as well.
The first few hours they where frequent but after a couple of charges it seems less frequent.
Hopefully sony will fix this in later releases.
Same for me.
I think its an hardware error because i had it on my Z too - changing the phone solved it.
I'm not so sure. I had the exact same behaviour on the Nexus 5 and changing rom completely solved it.
Perhaps it's a combination of hardware and software
same issue
Hi guys, i bought the phone yesterday on O2 Germany, and i have the same problem of this flickering screen looks like an old Tv without an signal it happens totaly random yesterday for 3 or 4 times in 2-3 hours, and i dont know if it better to wait for an update or is it better to refund ?
Well I spoke to Sony yesterday who told me to do a full reset through PC Companion (they make you try that for just about any fault!). It made no difference of course so this morning I spoke to them again and they said it does sound like a hardware fault so I'll need to RMA it. 5-7 working day turnaround through Sony but I rang Amazon (from whom I bought it) and they are sending a new one out expedited so it should be here Monday!
I then have 30 days to return this one so zero downtime! I'm very pleased.
I'm seeing the same issue. I'm guessing by your experience, I should RMA my device too, but I'm going to try a reset using PC Companion first. The static looks a lot like this.
Yeah, that is what mine is like. It actually got worse over the weekend too so I am definitely leaning towards a hardware fault, probably a loose connection.
Get it returned. Bit of a pain but the service is pretty good. 5 working days is not bad from Sony, and that's if you can't get a better service from your retailer like I did with Amazon.
I had the same thing, it was doing the static up the screen thing every couple of seconds so I took it back to three and they replaced it on the spot.
New one from Amazon arrived today (as promised, well done Amazon UK) and it's not doing it at all. Good result.
Z3 Dual screen flickers
Z3 Dual Owner here, just 4 days old. Tried repair using sony companion but still no good result. At first it was barely noticeable then it became more obvious as it randomly flickers or displays grainy shades. Grains more often appears on Camera and gaming Apps, I previously owned Sony Xperia Z and Sony Xperia Z2 with same usage and apps luckily never had the same issue.

Sent from my D6653 using XDA Free mobile app
Sorry to say it but the only solution is get it replaced. It's a hardware fault. Sony should cover it under warranty, no problem, but it might be quicker to go through your retailer as per my earlier post.
Seems to be a hardware issue. Try to claim warrenty if you have if it's a manufacturer fault.
Yes I had this issue too so can confirm it's a hardware error. The replacement Z3 I have does not do this at all. Get your phone replaced as soon as possible. It will fall under your warranty as it's a manufacturing defect.
I had that happen with a replacement screen on my G2 turns out its the ribbon cable that is at fault generally, meaning its a display issue. I also had static images from another screen replacement on same phone also a screen issue. Gophermods eventually gave my money back after one more replacement lol. 3 Screen replacements and 2 different issues all because the manager was to careless with the ribbon cable. Even last time (3rd replacement screen) I got flickering but as soon as I loosened the display from the casing a little it worked perfectly. Well at least I got a full refund, so free repair lol.
Since this is an out of box issue for you better get a replacement unit.
Thanks for suggestion but it's hard to claim this issue to Sony because it occured randomly and rarely.
Btw is it possible to fix it by flashing latest rom via flashtool?
Sent from my D6653 using XDA Free mobile app
I also have this problem and notice it happens more frequently when I am charging my phone and using it at the same time. But it doesn't happen too often for me go nuts, yet! Not sure if I should get it replaced? It's such effort having to back everything up again and transfer over to new phone seeing as I've just about moved everything over =P oh and just stuck a screen protector on top of that which was expensive lol
Oddly it seems this only happens to me after i reboot. If i shutdown and boot i haven't seen it yet in several months
Probably better to get it replaced, it does not seem normal. I hope you aren't using one of those third party chargers.
Hi all. As written my sm-t905 has this strange wifi problem. Tried on different networks and same results
Tried a lot of different custom and official roms and same results
Worked on every wifi settings and same results
Wifi is stable only when tablet is on charge
Some suggestions?
Thx :good:
I had almost the same problem, not like you though but on lower than 60% battery it had this problem of disconnecting then not going to turn on! check the battery connection and everything, all were good.
the wifi chipset is problematic in many of Samsung devices, try dialing *#0011# to go to service menu then wlan and then disable saving battery mode, (it will deplete your battery way faster than before, be sure to turnoff wifi when not using it!) mine had problem before that, now only being on airplane mode and then wifi on works otherwise wifi chipset stuck on turning on... forever. check other threads , many people have the same pronblem with no workaround. replacing mobo works.
did install many Roms, all the same, so stuck to stock Touchwiz lollipop that still there is a workaround for having a working wifi.
never going to buy Samsung ever again.

I checked and the same for me...it starts to disconnect under 60% battery level
Unluckly with *#0011# code it doesn't go on the wifi menu. It does nothing! Not even with *#06# is possibe to look at the imei number(but imei is normally written in the info menu). It seems it doesn't get codes at all from dialer
What could I do to enter in the hiden wifi menu?
Now I'll try to open it to check the battery connection but I find it really strange that a lot of people as the same wifi problems
Thanks in advance
This is a common flaw in Samsung tablets , not only this model but others as well. It's very easy to fix but most users don't realize the problem due to lacking of technical understanding or equipment: microscope and solder iron to resolder battery connector.
1- The first fix is easy, most average users can do it: fixing the loose battery cables. This model has intermittent power, battery capacity fluctuation.....etc.. due to loose battery cable
https://forums.androidcentral.com/s...350-goes-continual-boot-loop.html#post5928150
2- The second one requires soldering skill which most don't know how. However, you can get it done from the help of a repair shop or anyone knows how to solder
Most Samsung tablets, especially the 10.1 or 12.2, have the cracked solder joints of battery connector due to loose mainboard which has only few screws to secure it.
The Note Pro has only 3 screws at two speakers to hold the mainboard which sits on top of a flexible LCD.
If you take my advice seriously and fixing these two battery connectors, you'll solve any problem related to power.
This flaw is very obvious but I see a lot of people ignore it and try to do something else and keep complaining about the problem of Samsung tablets.
After take care of these connectors, your tablet may last another 2 years until the mainboard goes bad.

Finally the solution! That's amazing! Thank's a lot! :fingers-crossed:
P.s: I opened the back cover and battery connector seems to be ok but I can't be sure about it. In the next days I will take it to a repairing lab to ask how much can it cost to re-soldering the connector. I wish it will be cheap cause i coudn't do it by myself. My solderer has not enough small spot and I wouldn't buy a new one just for this fix... Beut,do you know how much could it be a reasonable price for such workaround? Thanks

This is a phenomenal problem of Samsung tablets especially this Note Pro or Tab Pro. Battery connector is not supposed to be a moving part, that's why minimum solder is needed.
However, look at the mainboard you'll see it's weakly secured to the frame sit on top of the flexible LCD. In order to see the cracks under neath of the connector, you'll need a power microscope.
This a fix from a Samsung Repair Center who is contractor, authorized to fix Samsung tablets

Both connectors are fixed but they soldered the cables directly to connector on mainboard. Without knowing this, an innocent users will break both connectors when trying to replace the battery.
Trust me, over hundreds of Note Pro or Tab Pro I bought, only a few can pass my test. I actually push the connector by screw driver to see if it's not moving.
Here was a lot of 7 Note Pro I bought, all had the same problem that connectors need to be fixed
I don't know how much they charge in your area but this work takes only 5 minutes with a professional.

You really made my day. As first cause i laugh looking how the samsung lab worked on that poor connector. At last cause I really understand the problem and how to workaround on it! It's unbelievable that a 1000$ device didn't receive enough care about a simple connection soldering by the factory... you deserve success in your refurbishment of note pro lot. :good:
Have good time! Bye
This is an example of a badly cracked battery connector.
I will explain your power problem just based on Ohm law of parallel circuit. Battery of P900 or P905 has two cells connected in parallel : two red ( positive) and black ( negative ) cables.
V (total) = V1 = V2
However,
I ( total ) = I1 + I2
P( total )= P1+ P2
If one pin or one cable of positive is suddenly open, you lost half of battery power. That's why you can see battery drops quickly in few minutes, then moment later
or after a reboot, it go back to previous percentage. If two positive or negative are open, you have no power.
The question is why then it only affect wifi chipset? no slow charging or fast discharging battery problem, no flickering , no sudden turnoff!
everything fine except BT and Wifi, cause they are on the same chip. after turning off the save battery mode on wifi, it works even on 20%
I checked the connection several times, all were fine.
If only the OP re-soldering worked then I will accept your view on the cause of the problem.
I never run custom ROM so I don't know if this's problem from its firmware. All Note Pros were in my possession, running stock ROM, have never had Wifi dropping while at low charge or not connected to a charger.
My first action to any of this tablet is fixing these two connectors regardless their condition, because sooner or later, they will fail: one or both.
Bluetooth and Wifi are not related as they have separated components and circuit.

you focus the question. it's exactly as you write. Luckly in my case it was only a bad contact cause after cleaning connector and pins with alchol it started to work normally. Now I really enjoy it and i'm thanksfull to you cause you pointed me on the right way!:good:

Not depending from rom. As you said it's connector-electric problem. It made this on each rom I runned
cheers mate!

you have to belive him. I read some case of people with flickering and rebooting problem cause bad power connector soldering. :fingers-crossed:
In each case problem was solved with resoldering(in the worst cases) or cleaning(in best cases) connector and pins. You can't know exactly what a lower power (cause missing part of parallel connection) could affect in different devices
cheers

It's strange but yes... After a deep clean with alchol to connector and pins I no more had drops on low battery. I think it was on ossidation status and had a bad contact. Now I can really enjoy this wonderful tablet :good::fingers-crossed:
A month ago i got a used x3pro from marketplace with box
When testing before paying the phone behaved fine even on benchmark
Later the phone was randomly rebooting for no reason
I looked the thing up since it was running stock and I stumbled upon the reballing and the motherboards problem
Now the phone is completely off wont turn on
I Tried replugging the battery but no luck
So I looked for a local store that does re-balling
Am asking what are ur experiences with reballing ? Does the reball fix it or is it temporary only?
My front cam is not working sometimes, and sometimes sim signal is not working
Gonna reball my devices next week.

mine still in testing as post-reball is less than week old but I doesn't encounter any problem so far and it is same like before the deadboot happened and I learned my lesson that I'm not playing much games now and overheat my cpu past 80°c because it's the main issue of x3pro getting deadboot the cpu solder deforming making shorted.
my advice to you is dont choose random technician but only people that has experienced a lots of successful repair of Px3Pro , in my case I seached in FB and checked every technician post of what they accomplished and watch post of video of them doing the reball.

:0 idk if it's normal that after doing the fix my phone is hot for about a week
mine shutdown when i tried to play 4 games straight i'm sitting in front of a cooler while i'm playing... i don't feel any heat at all that's why i'm confident it woudn't happened again ; - ; but then **** happened it shutdown mid game ; - ; it does have a warranty from the technician but idk if i could still sell it for a good price... i know i already ****ed up when i risk reballing it... i was so excited i forgot to do a lil research...

forgot to tell you that im using NGK app now with overlay of tracking the cpu temp in top left, i can still play games with px3pro but not hardcore like before. Anyway the deadboot happened to me was when im playing 2hours straight while charging, no cpu temp and screen stucked for couple mins then died, cant turn on, nor charging response like no sign of life and told myself the my cpu solder melted or deformed and need a reball.
After reballing Bukeh, ultra wide and micro Cameras are not working, main camera and front camera are working fine, rest of device is great. Sometime sensors stop working which is a know issue for Poco X3 pro, for that we have to restart the device.
what if, you apply glue to prevent the cpu from moving? like old computers. technically if it is thermal glue it should not melt with the heat generated, just a idea
