[APP] Simple Stopwatch and Timer [Android App 2.1+ ] - Android Apps and Games

Hi, I am new to the forum and just built my first app, and I wanted to put it here for you guys to use and give me feedback about what you like, what you don't like if you think its useful?
I hope this is the right forum and I am not breaking any rules by posting here.( I read the sticky first)
NEW! Interval Training Mode Added.
Unfortunately, I decided to go ad supported as I spent many weeks on this
donations amounted to less that $4.00
However I am offering the paid / donate version (no ads and can save more exercises in the interval training mode)
free of charge to those who helped me and are continually helping me with the development of this via feedback and suggestions.
Just email me and I will send you a copy.
Let me know what features you would like that this lacks.
Its a free Stopwatch with three modes
1) Stopwatch with Lap Timer
2) Countdown Timer
3) Repeating Countdown Timer (Select repeating Timer when setting countdown time) E.g Alarm beeps every 1 minute, can be used for circuit training etc)
I also added a Lap Stats function which shows your fastest lap, slowest lap and avg speed.
Version 1.0.7 (update)
Elapsed Time and Remaining Time on Notification Bar (Updates every minute) -c00ller
Fixed Menu Settings (User preferences should work now) - lots of reports about this one
Added Lap counter text in landscape mode. - fifarunner
Automatically remove zeros, when user enters time via keypad. - c00ller
Updates
Added User Preferences to enable / disable haptic feedback
Changed the UI/ Layout a bit, you can now select modes by pressing icons at the bottom of the screen
Added a service that should keep the Stopwatch from timing out, I would really appreciate it if you can let me know if the problem still exists.
Added an option to allow the stop button to register as a lap.
Reduced the font size to make landscape mode work on LDPI devices
More features coming soon...hopefully I will be able to roll out updates a bit faster in the future.
Features and Issues requested and pointed out by users...Thanks Everyone for your continuing feedback.
Current Issue
-Need to create service to keep watch running in background [Gusar]
-Landscape on ldpi devices not showing correctly [fiffarunner]
Feature Requests by Members
-Add multiple timers [JVogler]
-Fix Lap layout in landscape [Alouch]
-Lap recorded on Stop and export laptimes [JimmyN]
-Add vibration rather than sound option on alarm [A.Priori]
-Save timers [treesurf]
-Custom Alarm tones [beardedchild]
EDIT: I also forgot to mention I used a Tmobile G2 for my testing which has a hdpi screen, 480x800.. so if you guys with different screen resolutions and tablets can let me know if you have any problems with the way the program layout etc please let me know, I would really appreciate your feedback. I tried using the emulator but it would crash frequently on my pc.

Hope you enjoy and feedback and suggestions would be really appreciated.

Sweeeet! Simple, but does the job. And looks good while doing it too.
One problem: Exit the app while the countdown is running and when the timer reaches zero, I'm greeted by the alarm and a force close message.
And a suggestion: An icon in the statusbar if there's a countdown running in the background.

Thanks a million Gusar321. I will definitly look into that bug and thanks also for the suggestion, I really appreciate the feedback.

Hey Gusar321, just wanted to let you know I updated the app and added the notification feature in the status bar. Also credited you on the update in the market. (Whats new section) Thanks again

I'm so disgusted with SPB Time (a not cheap paid app) missing alarms and draining battery with no support from developers...I uninstalled. I miss the repeating countdown timer for my heavy-bag work though. Going to give this a try and report back.
Will be running on Atrix BTW
EDIT: Just tried, would be great to have multiple timers at once. One to sound every minute, and then a different sound every 3 minutes. A way to achieve that would make it possible to do a whole workout without ever having to reset timer.
It looks great so far though!

Thanks for the feedback JVogler, I am glad that you mentioned that, because that is on my list a timer that can be set at different intervals. Right now I am working on keeping the timer running in the background as a Service, (thanks Gusar for reporting the issue).

very nice, gave it 5 stars.

Wow, thanks A.Priori , you guys are really giving me the ecouragment to keep improving and developing this app more. I really appreciate it.
By sometime next week, I will release a list of the features that I plan on putting in this app.

Hi spawn782
thanks for the app, nice and sleek.
I was missing this since I go Cyanogen.
Just something with the landscape mode, I think it should be redesigned a little.
As you can see on screenshot, the bottom is half cut when taking lap, and when taking new lap, it stays on the first (when it can maybe autoscroll ?).
Maybe you can just remove the grey at the top ?
Otherwise, very nice app, and keep your effort updating it
It's a 5 star for me.
Screenshot :

very nice indeed! thanks
One question, why does it need internet access, as you don't have any advertisements?

Ok, did some testing on my HTC Wildfire(240x320), works well in portrait.
But...Landscape doesn't:
This is in timer and in stopwatch mode, so landscape needs some more time. If you'd like me to test some stuff, pm me or send me an email

Thanks Alouch47, I will work on the landscape mode. I see fifarunnerr also has a problem with the landscape mode so I will definitly have to do some more work on that (thanks fifarunnerr for the offer to help, I may send you an apk after I am finished with the updates).
I do have a question about the landscape mode though, I was thinking that maybe its a mode that you would use in a scenario when you are exercising and you put the phone down a distance away from you. This is the reason why I made the numbers much bigger in this mode, so you can it from a further distance. In such a mode do you think the laptimer will be useful? I was thinking t maybe just cut off that part in landscape mode? You would still be able to record laps, but they will be visible when you return to portrait.
What do you think about that idea? Is the laptimer critical to users in landscape mode?
With regards to the Internet Access that Odyon asked about, its because I run analytics in the program. The reason being is that the anroid market analytics is really delayed for me. Today is the 11th of August and latest android market data (statistics) is is still on the 8th of August

Have to say that this shows promise, I would like to make an observation, let's say I'm using the stopwatch to time a 3 lap race, I click lap at the end of lap 1 and the time for lap 1 is shown, the same at the end of lap 2 the lap time is shown (lap 2) however I click stop at the end of the 3rd lap ( end of the race) and I would expect to see the lap time for lap 3 however this doesn't appear can this be implemented?
Also a useful function would be the ability to export your lap times as a text file.
looking forward to further updates.

I just installed it.
Very useful and simple to use.
thanks

yes that can be implemented, (lap on stop) and will be added to feature requests. I will update the first post

Very well designed, simplicity is the way to beauty.
I´m also missed the timer on my cyanogen rom so, thanks so much for your work.
Best regards.

thanks mhut

This is a very nice looking timer, however in terms of functionality and quick use, I can't find anything better than UltraChron Stopwatch
Notice how on the bottom there is a very easy and intuitive way to switch between stopwatch and countdown modes. Your app requires pressing Menu, Set Timer, adjusting the time, Set Timer button, then start. With UltraChron you click Timer, adjust time, then start. I just think your app's current method of using the same screen for two functions is a bit less elegant than it could be. Another feature it has that I don't think I can live without is it shows time left in the notification bar when you have a timer on, and updates every minute with the number of minutes left. I am not trying to tell you to copy this app, I am just saying this app has been around for a long time and you can learn from its ideas.
Also, your app only allows the numbers to be changed with the arrows. I think it would also be nice to be able to press the number itself to change it directly via on screen keyboard (just like changing alarm clock times, which give both up and down buttons as well as direct input).
I'm looking forward to seeing the growth of this app, and I hope my suggestions have helped.
BTW this is my post number 1337

Thanks c00ller, I appreciate your feedback and opinions and I agree with your comments (great points about the usability) and they are on my list to be implemented, but I figured it would be best for me to get it out first and then start rolling out the updates as I get them completed. Thanks for your feedback and I will implement these changes over the next couple of updates.

Hi Guys, I just wanted to let you know that I updated the app a bit. Sorry I have not been able to add all of the features suggested so far, but I spent most of the time trying to fix bugs that caused force closes. I hope that I have fixed most of the bugs so that I can now roll out feature updates quicker that before.
Again, thank you very much for your feedback and support.

Update: preview 2
Preview 2 is out! This release is single player only, with basic AI. I also improved the board interaction system. Double-tap to zoom in or out, and long press to place a settlement/city/road/robber. Let me know if there are issues or you have any suggestions.

Any screenshots for potential testers?
I posted one screenshot on my website (shown below)
You can download the game from my website!
http://android.neilisaac.ca/site/settlers
Let me know how it goes.
I haven't had a chance to play this a lot. I don't like the vibration, which occurs even when the phone is in silent mode.
I am fairly certain the vibration signals the computer moving. Perhaps a quick pop up or something could instead let the user know about the ai.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
The vibration and/or beep signal the beginning of a human turn. I intended this to alert you to pass the phone to someone else if you're playing with friends. These can be controlled based on your android settings ("Audible selection" and "Haptic feedback" under "Sound settings.") I'll add an option to override those in the application.
I have a new version (almost ready) that adds a bunch of minor features, including a turn log as you suggested. It also lets you set player names and colors, and have a combination of human and ai players.
I have a buddy working on some new textures. Saying he's a better artist than me is an understatement. See screenshot above
I have a short list of bugs to fix and some things that came up in testing. I'll have another release out within a day or so.
Ah, I understand that now. When playing alone it seemed pointless, but I can see how it would be useful with friends.

Check out my updated version on the market!
Here are the most significant features as of release r4:
* Set number of points to win game
* Show past game results
* Persistent settings and player names
* Turn log
* Crash and stall fixes
i really like where this is going!
used to love the game and this version is getting my attention
two things about the current version:
the "build town" button shows because i have the right recources (i guess, see my second point) but i am not able to build one because of the rules (i've only got my two initial towns and roads so i need a road first)
-> shouldn't the "build town" button show only when i am really able to build one?
i used to play the real game a couple of years ago. got used to having my "resources-trading"-card (how many x do i need to build y) visible at all times so i could glance at it while trading. i see that you implemented a menu showing when pressing the menu button in the last version (good start by the way, wanted to suggest that too) - it would be great if you could implement another button in the menu that shows to display the "resources-trading"-card (for lack of a better name)
more feedback to come.
EDIT: see below
i need a statusboard with the following information to make decisions and refine strategy:
- player points
- how many resources a player has (not how many in each category but in total - i think according to rules this is possible)
- all the stuff displayed on my own info-screen (in-game-menubar -> "info")
a suggestion where to place this: remove "info" and "turn log" from the in-game-menubar.
instead display "status" (or whatever name) to the left of "options".
status is a full-screen display of player stats.
via tab it is possible to switch to the other players, per default my own information is displayed (like when pressing "info" in the in-game-menubar)
(very) rough mockup attached.
new post because it's getting too long
_especially_ when moving the robber i need to know those things:
how many points and how many cards does everybody have?
what's the cost of a town/road/etc.?
another thing, sorry for the massive amount of stuff i just thought i'd get it all out now that i'm at it
right now i am in posession of all the right resources (lumber, wool, grain, brick) and i have a sweet spot where i want to put this town.
the thing is - the button to do it is not there!
those buttons are showing:
1st row: Info - Trade - End turn
2nd row: Buy or use card - Build road
"Build town" is not there!
is there any way to provide you with debug info for cases like this?
maybe it would be possible for you to integrate a debug option that saves the current state of the game in a txt-file i could send you, or something like it.
EDIT: i wasn't able to build towns or cities for the rest of the game.
at some point (couple of turns later) i also lost the ability to build roads, even though i had enough resources.
EDIT2: i was able to build cities, but no more towns and roads.
is there some rule that restricts the amount of towns and/or roads i forgot?
EDIT3: this has to be a rule i don't know about. in another game i am now able to build roads/towns/cities as i like.
i just move the robber because i rolled a 7.
the game offered me to steal from either of two players because they had cities where i placed it.
one player had 0 resources the other had 3.
why bother to show the player with 0 resources?
a confirmation when building roads would be great - i was very sure of my placement but build two roads in the wrong spot because of clumsiness
oh and i'd like to help with the german translation.
Freaking Awesome!!!
Freaking Awesome!!!
I love, love, love, love this game!
Thanks for all the feedback Emelie! I'll try and respond to most of it here.
Status windows
First off, I like your idea of the consolidated status window. My thought is to keep the (optional) popup turn log so you can see what happened since your last turn at a glance, but then replace the info and turn log buttons with a merged version.
Your mockup looks good. My approach has been to avoid showing any information that can be found by looking at the board. I think the status window shouldn't tell you much that your opponents in the real board game don't have to tell you. The big thing is that it shouldn't show victory points - I think a big part of the game is in speculating this for yourself. More importantly, there are the "victory cards" that aren't shown to other players until you declare that you've won. Of course you need the information such as the number of development cards that each person holds so you can make your speculations.
A quick building costs dialogue that is always available would probably be good. I put it under trade and that was good enough for the time, but I'm not 100% happy with it - it's on my todo list.
Interface
I'd like to add an undo option after building. After I added zoom and long press support I found that I don't make mistakes, so this became low priority. Of course this would help with people learning the interface. It would also probably help to have "toast" (the small popups in the lower third of the screen) prompts to tell you what to click ("double tap to zoom in, then long press to build your road" or something.)
When you steal from someone, I decided to show the full list so it is more obvious why it doesn't let you steal from someone. My ideal interface design would be a dialogue like that, but with the 0 resource players disabled and greyed out, however I don't think that's possible without going to more depth. Maybe I'll change it from a dialogue to a full activity (info and turn log are dialogues that pop up, trade and options are full activities - you'll notice that they don't disappear when you rotate the screen; I went to great lengths to ensure that the steal dialogue comes up again if you do this.) Let me know if you have other ideas, or even a mock-up.
Usability-oriented design is important. I'll admit that much of my design is based on what was either most obvious to do while developing it, or what is fastest to use when clicking through the game really fast. My preview-2 release was really quick, but has poor usability.
Rules
The board game has 5 settlements (which I call towns since it's shorter and screen space is valuable on a phone) 4 cities, and 15 roads. This forces you to use a more diversified strategy to get points, so you can't just build 10 towns and win. When you build a city, you do get 1 town back. This is implemented but my game doesn't really tell you about it (except maybe in the instructions if I included that.) I think I'll include something like this in the status window "towns: 3 / 5" or similar. Maybe keep the button when you can afford it, but give you an error message when you click it explaining why you can't build a town.
Translations
In android, you typically put all your strings in an xml resource file. Some of my generated text dialogues are hard-coded though. I'll try and move more of those into the xml file so they can be translated too. The buttons at the top will be more annoying to support translations for.
Here are the countries with the most users: US, UK, Canada (all english) then Germany, Netherlands, France, Sweden, Denmark (order not exact.) I'll try and do a french translation as an example.
For those willing to help, I'll make it really quick and easy. Send me an email at [email protected] and I'll get you set up.
Debugging
About dumping debug info, the easiest way is for you to describe exactly what you did. Include the stage of the game; is it the first turn? where are you in the turn order? how many ai players? what buttons did you click? did you rotate the screen half way through?
If it crashes or hangs, the best way to help me is to give me a stack trace. If you're using the market version, there's a button to submit it automatically. Add a message telling me what was going on in case I can't guess. So far the only person who added a comment just said "the game crashed again."
If you get to a point you don't think is right, you can try to produce a stack trace showing that too. This is a bit tricky though since it actually needs to be in a point in my code, rather than android runtime. The procedure is to run "adb shell" then kill the application (use "ps" to get the PID, then "kill -9 PID_NUMBER") then check "adb logcat" and send me the stack trace if it's useful (check for class names within com.settlers.) If this doesn't make sense, don't worry about it.
Thanks!
Going to give this a go, catan is a very addictive game, kudos for bringing it to Android!
yeah i like your detailed answer! going to reply at the end of the week - massive pile of work to take care of.
in the meantime - i'd like to do the german translation, PM/post instructions so i can proceed! sent you an email
love your game

[APP] Kitchen Timer PRO

Are you sick of twirling a dial or pressing an up/down selector 30 times to set a simple timer? Then this is the timer app for you!
I wrote this free app for power users who want a fast UI. Just key in the timer delay in minutes and hit "Add" button and the timer will begin.
I'd be interested in getting feedback as XDA readers tend to be power users and I'm interested to see what features you all would like to see.
Features:
- Ergonomic timer entry
- Does not acquire wake-locks and so will not drain your battery unlike other timers
- Uses system alarm manager and robustly stores alarms so that the alarm doesn't fail when the app is closed
- Less aggressive/annoying timer sound (rooster loops every few seconds instead of without delay)
- Less aggressive/annoying vibrate settings (as above)

sweet and simple
Very nice work.
1 suggestion.
Often when cooking we you have 3 or 4 things to put on at different times.
Could you add different items separately with their own time:
i.e.
item 1 - pie t-45
item 2 - chips t-25
item 3 - peas t-10
Click start and 45 minutes starts counting down, as set by the longest time, or just enter longest first. 20 mins in "chips" notification goes off and then peas 35 mins later. That way dinner is all synchronised!
Nice concept and a great start.
It really needs the ability to time seconds (full minutes only in the current version) and multiple timers (I typically have two or three running when I cook).
As a suggestion as to how to position yourself with your customers, I'm completely put off though by an app that is still not feature complete (no preferences, as a quick find), is hopelessly crippled in the free version (60-minute limit), and has ads to add insult to injury.
I agree with the comments above. A great start, but needs to display and time by seconds, and needs to have at least 3 timers running consecutively.
Suggestion: web link to all your apps https://market.android.com/search?q=droidgram&so=1&c=apps&rdid=com.droidgram.timer&rdot=1?
Thanks for the initial feedback. Multiple timers is one of the key planned features and I hope to have this pushed out soon!
Nice start, I like the easy way to enter the time.
One suggestion: add repeating times. There are some situations where you need the possibility that a certain about of time must be repeated n times. I only know one timer (Yata! http://market.android.com/details?id=com.pelletiere.android.reallysimpletimer) who can almost do that (it's just possible to repeat over and over but not to define something like: countdown 05'30" six times, play sound after each cycle, than stop).
Would be nice if you can do that.
Cheers, Klausi
I am not really sure why this app would need the permissions that it does...

The app webpage gives details on the permission usage: http://droidgram.com/forum/Timer
Basically, it needs vibrate to make the phone vibrate on alarm. Internet and coarse location is required to serve up AdMob adverts and also is used for analytics to track errors etc.

Thanks for the feedback. It's a bit of a tough question regarding some things e.g. release with preferences not complete.
In the end, I wanted to indicate that this is coming, but didn't want to delay the release by doing all these features up front. This way, I can get feedback on what features are important. A bit of a trade-off, I know, but as an independent programmer, I have limited time and resources so can only do the best I can as a single developer.
Updated now, the free version now has a limit of 180 minutes, which should hopefully make it more useful.
Updated to restore notification on reboot of device.
I think the app now is rock solid stable, so now I will work on additional features:
- Choice of alarm tone
- Multiple timers
At the moment, if you install both the free and pro version, you can use them together to get 2 timers at the same time.
v2.01 released
New version released. Key new features:
Add 'Seconds Mode' to allow timers to be set also in seconds
Custom alarm ringtone (by popular request)
Show alarm time in notification bar when timer is set.
Future features scheduled:
Multiple timers
App is available for free with a donate option. Please donate to support further development and additional features.
v2.1 released
3 new features for better ergonomics
http://droidgram.com/forum/Timer
- Add short timer mode
- Add tens of seconds first option
- Add tap to toggle mode feature

[APP][Update 2012/08/08] Money is time

Hi People,
I recently started writing apps for Android and I'm very curious what you think of my first app.
A little while ago I was eating a candy bar from the vending machine at work, and I was wondering how many minutes I actually had to work in order to be able to pay for that candy bar. At that moment, I came up with the idea to make an money to time converter.
Money Is Time
Features
Money to time conversion
Time to money conversion
User friendly interface by picker wheels
Supports money up to 99,999.99
Supports up to 24 currency signs like; $, £, € and ¥
Supports time up to about year
Supports both 24/7 scale or working hours
Stopwatch mode where time and money are incremented automatically.
Timer mode where time and money are decremented automatically.
Ability to set the wage per hour / day / week / month
Supports both portrait as landscape view.
Wake lock implemented

Thank you very much for your feedback!
Great idea! It would be cool if you could enter weekly or hourly wage information and if you could both swipe numbers to change them as well as tap on the selected numbers to enter them on a keypad.
Thanks for the QR code! makes it so easy to get the app
Thanks people for your feedback and positive comments so far!
At this moment I've received the following feature requests:
- Ability to fill-in weekly or hourly wage information.
- Ability to choose between swipe or just enter the numbers via the keypad.
- Ability to reset both money and time to zero with a button.
- Ability to set custom currencies.
I'm really gonna work on the items listed above and hope to upload an upgrade sometimes soon.
If there are more requests bugs or just sometime you want to share about this app, please let me know. I'm very curious what you think about this app!
@psycho_maniac: You're welcome, I really appreciate it when people want to help me improve my app. Posting a QR code is the least i could do
Really Creative
Wonderful app. I think if you can make the app run on its own according to a particular setting, will be a good idea. Just a thought.
Nice idea for an app
but have a bug. I run a screen density of between 180 and 200 and the app don't like this
screen shot was taken at 200 screen density.
Feature request:
It would be fun if you could set an amount, per hour/day/month/etc, whichever really, and start the timer. While the timer is ticking, you'd see the money wheel ticking live how much you make each second. And even if you exit the app and start it again a couple of hours later, the app remembers the time/date you exited it, reads the current time and adjusts the sum that you've made so far.

Hi
Thanks for finding this bug. It's very strange, because it looks like android can't decide what screen it is LDPI MDPI HDPI.
On which device and android version did you encounter this problem? My emulator with 200 DPI does show the app correctly.

Thank you both, that is indeed a fun feature. I will look if I can implement this in the next version or not.

Hi
Thanks for finding this bug. It's very strange, because it looks like android can't decide what screen it is LDPI MDPI HDPI.
On which device and android version did you encounter this problem? My emulator with 200 DPI does show the app correctly.
Thanks a lot!

It is difficult to find on the market because money and time are both normal words, but if you search on "money is time" between quotes you'll find it or just use the link in the first post or in my signature
Thanks in advance for downloading

Hmmzz, that's weird, maybe there was a hick-up on the android market. Is it still not working when you click on the link?
I just checked and everything here worked as it should.
Options for the timer function
I'm currently busy updating my app with most of the requests I've received.
Version 2.0
I've released version 2.0 today and added the following requests:
- Ability to fill-in weekly or hourly wage information.
- Ability to reset both money and time to zero with a button.
- Ability to set custom currencies. (I've added 20 currency signs)
- Ability to run the app on its own.
I've also added a landscape view so it can be viewed in portrait and landscape instead of portrait alone. Besides adding landscape view I've paid extra attention to the layout to support as much resolutions as possible.
I hope you like the new version! Comments, bugs requests are still more than welcome!!
Version 2.1
I've released version 2.1 and added the following requests:
- Ability to fill-in daily or weekly wage information.
- Timer mode where money and time is automatically decremented.
- Support of HD phones and tablets.
Besides releasing the free 2.1 version I've released a paid version which has;
- No advertisements
- Ability to set a notification sound / vibrate when the timer reaches 0.
I hope you like the new versions! Comments, bugs requests are still more than welcome!!
Thanks
:good:You did listen to what we have to say. In my own book, that makes you a good developer. Thanks for the update.

[APP][Android 2.3+] Simplest Reminder

I forget things quite easily so I have been using my phone for years to help me remember about certain tasks I need to do. I tried few applications but did not fall in love with any. They are often too complex and require too many steps to create a reminder / note.
Therefore I decided to make my own. I learned the basics of Android development and spent 2 months developing "Simplest Reminder". I was working on and off and only during my free time which was just a few hours a day at most.
Without further delay I present my first android application
It is available for free, with NO ads, in the Play Store:

If you can think of any improvements don't hesitate to post them here.
Again, app is available for free without any ads here

UPDATE, May 22: I now have a donation version of my application in store. It is located here: Simplest Reminder (Donate)
If you like my application please consider buying the "donate version". Both apps have the same features so buying my app ($ 0.99) is just a way of saying Thank You for my hard work.
UPDATE, October 16 2013: Donate version has just became PRO version with new, exciting features based on user feedback. Simplicity has not been compromised but functionality has been greatly improved.
It is available at the same URL: Simplest Reminder Pro so that anybody who donated to me gets free upgrade. Thanks to the bunch of you who supported me with nice words and especially those who bought my app! I hope you all enjoy the new features
Here is a list of new features in the Pro version:
- Recurring reminders. Choose between daily, weekly, monthly, or annually
- Pop Up dialog. This can be disabled in Settings
- New, analog style Time and Date pickers inspired by Google Calendar's app
- Self-repeating reminders. Reminder will repeat itself every 10 minutes so you don't miss it. This can be disabled or interval can be changed in Settings
- LED light notifications. This can also be disabled in Settings
- Swipe notification away to delete reminder. This can also be disabled in Settings
- Swipe notification away to dismiss recurring reminder
- Help screen
- Improved user interface and performance
Pro screenshots:
UPDATE, October 17: APK for free version uploaded as per user request. This is for people who can't use Google Play for any reason.
UPDATE, October 18: Version 1.8 of the Simplest Reminder Free has been released. I refreshed the looks to be as nice as the look in the Pro version. I updated the screenshots in this thread.
UPDATE, Nov 12 2014: Version 2.1.1 of the Simplest Reminder Free has been released. I fixed bunched of things and added minor improvements such as ability to choose more sounds.
Pro version now has Pop Up dialog option.
UPDATE, Dec 2 2014: Version 2.6.2 of the Simplest Reminder Pro has been released. I added new, analog style Time and Date pickers inspired by Google Calendar's app. They make picking date and time much easier and they look great too! I attached new screenshots.
Thanks for your interest!

Hey Teadious. What country are you in, if I may ask. I can enable it. For now only US and Poland are enabled. The reason is that my app uses this time format: 12/25/2013 which is standard in the US but not other countries (not even in Poland but I enabled Poland because other tester is there )
Thanks again for your interest.
EDIT: I enabled ALL countries. It will take couple hours for the changes to take effect.
I'm from the Netherlands, I'll try the app out for you now

PM me if you need help
I love this app! :cyclops:
Thank You all for the support. In just one day the number of installations went from 6 to 24! Awesome.
I spent few hours recently trying to find a very frustrating bug in my application that was causing reminders not to go off under certain circumstances.
I found a potential issue, fixed it and pushed updated version 1.2 to the Google Play yesterday.
I really hope that it will permanently fix it! However, if for any reason a reminder doesn't go off for you it would be very helpful if you could provide some details here or PM me (version 1.2 and up only).
Thanks!
EDIT: Just pushed version 1.3 to the market because there still was a bug. Third time a charm... Hope it is gone for good!
Today I pushed 2 updates to the market.
Version 1.4 is meant to put an end to the mysterious bug causing reminders not to go off (I am 100% confident I nailed it this time and it turns out it was not even a bug but rather a missing feature, lol - simply put, the alarms were not set after phone reboot [Android OS removes all alarms on phone reboot])
Version 1.5 introduces new option in the settings panel - now you can decide if screen should be turned on when reminder goes off.
Thanks for sharing your work!
A nice feature would be, if we can decide Yes/no Notification Sound per reminder.
So one is with notification sound as set up in settings, one without because of not beeing so important.

While this is a nice feature, I don't think I will be implementing anything that would add complexity or increase number of taps required to create a reminder. The main goal of my application is being the simplest to use out of all reminder applications in the market.
There are many great applications in the market that have all that complexity and extra features including colors, note priority, sound per reminder, vibration per reminder, repeatable reminders etc. The reason why I don't use those apps is because setting up a reminder takes a minute or so.
I realize that limiting the number of features in my app may turn some users away but at the same time I am confident that it will be appealing to users who expect mobile apps to be simple and intuitive to use.
With all that being said, I really appreciate your feedback and please keep it coming. I may actually build another application based on Simplest Reminder that would have whole bunch of additional features.
Will give it a try! Teamed up with NotifyMe or such, could be very useful indeed.
Nice app, but how hard would it be to add some sort of calender view when picking a date?
So instead of scrolling, you just tap the date/day.
Would that make the app more complex?
can I get an .apk? I don't always have an active internet connection.
Great app, but I'm afraid that U.S. date format does my head in...
looks great!
going to try this on my s 3 i9300 with Paranoid Android 3.00 )
Awesome, just awesome and it looks beautfiul!
Thank you so much!

[APP][3.0+] Time Boss: set multiple timers for everyday use

Hello! 2 years ago I was playing Starcraft and needed a queen-inject timer (anyone? no?). Anyway, tried different things, but didn't find a single timer that could do what I wanted it to do. So I made one myself! :victory:
Introducing (drum roll)...
Time Boss
An easy to use timer application that lets you set multiple timers.
Each timer is highly configurable:
- Count up or count down
- Set alarm and/or vibration
- Change what happens when you tap the timer
- Change what happens when the timer runs out
- etc.
And it's easy to use:
Simply tap on a timer to start or stop it, and
hold a timer to show the options for that timer.
I'm very excited to hear any of your suggestions and ideas for improvements! :good:
(if you would be so kind to share them)

}
It also includes a simple stopwatch:
- Start/stop/reset using screen buttons or volume controls
- Log lap times and save them to a text file
- Record times in hours, minutes, seconds and milliseconds
Required permissions
- Write to file (to log lap times to file)
- Vibrate (alarm)
Hope you like it!
Edwin
Reserved for future use.
Demo looks nice. Will have a look at it
One question: how many timers can run at the same time?
Pretty cool man.. perhaps a bit better more modern looking interface?

Thanks for your reply.
There is no hardware limit on the number of timers that can run simultaneously (even though at a certain moment in time it becomes inpractical).
The design is such that 1 main timing event controls the timing updates for all timers. This is done to assure a low CPU load when using multiple timers. Also, the update frequency is reduced to 1 second when the application runs in the background (again to reduce system load).

Good point. I have been struggling with this... Will try to make some improvement on the UI over the next week or two.
If you have suggestions (e.g. apps that have a similar list with a header and main info/timer) and an appealing design, that would help. Otherwise I'll try my best at an improved design and go from there

Nice update. Old UI was fine for me as well, but this indeed looks more up-to-date
P.S. Timer works well for me, no problems so far.

Working on a new update with some nice new features, like:
- cascading timers (allows you to make a routine, e.g. run 5 mins, rest 1 min, run 5 mins, rest 1 min, etc.)
- new settings menu
- wave over phone to stop an alarm
- and more...
Should be online in about 10 days...
just a minor suggetion.. when adding a new timer, give it a default title, e.g. Timer 1, Timer 2, etc. (yup im not good at naming stuff), so that it wont just show a blank in the title line..

Good point.
Currently, you can set a title in 'default settings'. If you do, it will show up in all timers that you add. If you leave it blank (which is the default state when you start the app), the timer doesn't have a title. This way, the timer takes up less space.
It would be easy enough to give it a default value like 'Timer' (the user could still make it blank)...
Knowing this, would you still prefer a default title? (if so, it will be in the next update )

thx for the reply.. actually i asked a bit more than that.. apart from the auto-title text, there was also a sequence in the title (Timer 1, Timer 2, etc.)..
this could not be achieved by the default title setting, and thus i asked if u could make it a feature..
Hi, I just searched in Google play store with 'timer' and couldn't find your app.
Feels your app name doesn't match with search string - think about changing the app name to reflect timer.
Eg: "Timer Boss"
PS: really nice app, gui can be improved - black/colors bg option.
Thanks.

Ah, ok than I misunderstood
I will add this as a feature. Just to make sure: would the option: 'Add number to timer header' do what you would like it to do?
In this case, if the header is 'Timer', it would add the number of the timer (e.g. 'Timer 1', 'Timer 2', etc...)

Getting a good ranking in Google Play is really hard
(harder than I thought it would be)
The black background option does sound like a nice feature. Will add it in a future update!
I am thinking about providing the option to have the user select a background image. This would fit in nicely with that :highfive:
(will publish an update within 1 week, can't promise that these changes will be in that one already. It should be in the one after that though...)
Thanks for the suggestions, keep em comming!

I added the option to change the background color.
The action bar is still the same (light) color though. If you like I can try to add the option to change the theme to HOLO DARK (instead of HOLO LIGHT that I use now)... Think it is ok the way it is now (also see image below with some 'test' layouts).
More new stuff in version 1.4:
- All running alarms can now be stopped by waving the hand over the screen (proximity sensor).
The proximity sensor is only enabled when the alarm is running to save battery life.
- Timers can now trigger the next/prev./first timer, so the user can make a (training/workout) schedule.
- New settings screen (moved several options to the settings screen to create a cleaner overall look)
Hope you like it!!
(More suggestions and ideas are always welcome! :good
