Ok I rooted my phone (HTC Inspire) but for that to happen I had to downgrade to the HTC Desire HD software. I decided I just want my phone back to factory settings with the HTC Inspire software on there. Can somebody please give me a zip file for that. Ive seen one file for that but they dont explain how to go back. They just give you the file and thats it, or is the a hack kit to go back like there was for HTC Inspire to go to Desire HD software

1) This really belongs in Q&A
2) There is a link to the procedure in the forum sticky that directs you to run the hack kit to unroot, if that is what you want to do.
If you don't wish to be rooted anymore you can use the RUU which you can now find in the general section. If you want to stay rooted you can find a rooted stock rom in the general section also or simply flash another custom rom in the development section.
If you finished the root it should of upgraded you back to the current.

Hi I am trying to root my HTC Evo it say its the older version can some one please tell me how to root my phone. I have been trying to find out myself but I have had no luck. Can u plz help!! what do I have to do !!
Not to sound like a complete ****, but you must not be trying very hard. Check out the HTC Supersonic (Evo) section. Go to the Android Development subforum, and there are at least 4 or 5 methods to root older Evos. At least one should be within the first three pages.
yea man, please spend some time reading the evo forums, like at least a few hours.
The easiest way to root, since you obviously dont know much about it, is to to the Unrevoked method. Read about it here, then go to unrevoked.com.
Hello, I am a new HTC Sensation owner and it's my first Android phone too!
I am very excited with the device but, before I screw up something, I would like to know a bit more.
I know there is the possibility, for Android phones, to flash the ROM and install a new one with improved features.
It is something that I will do, I'm sure, but, as mentioned, I would like to be sure of what I do!
So, how can I back-up the current ROM, in order to restore everything as it was when I purchased the phone?
I know about an app called Titanium backup, but it seems that it requires root permission...
Can you help me?
Thank you in advance!

Htc sensation has a locked builder (S-On), you can't install custom roms yet till it is unlocked by HTC or hacked by developers. keep an eye out in the development section. When it is unlocked. Word will spread there,
Also there will be guides of how to root, s off back up etc. once it is unlocked
In the mean time. Have you tried rom manager from the market to backup. download it. Enjoy your sensation

Hi, before opening a thread do some research. If you did do some, you would have found an answer to your question in the Sensation Android development forum. There is a thread about someone who gotva Sensation with unlocked bootloader. Read in this thread as much as you can and please, on the top right of every single page of this forum is the SEARCH box. Use it extensively, you'll save yourself a lot of time.

You're getting way ahead of yourself....You don't need to worry about Sense 3, till you actually learn about rooting and what everything is. If you just jump into this you could end up with a HD paper weight. First you need to read up on the faqs in the DHD section, then maybe you'll understand things better.
hy
Thats all what i want actually ,to get sense 3(because i cant afford a htc sensations). And i am sure you were like me a few years a go ,when u didnt know about these things...so u know how i feel... off-course i want to learn how to do this stuff in the right way , that's why i posted here, asking for help
i hope u understood me
thanks anyway
Spend some time in the HTC Desire HD Subforum they will have guides on how to root your phone, and a few ROMS with Sense 3.0 like cool3d.

Of course I was like you before . When I first got a G1 back in 09 or maybe 2010, I didn't know nothing about root or hacking or anything. But now I know much more, and similar to you I can't get a sensation but I sure as hell can run the unity ROM that's just as good as the sensation stock . But you may also like other roms that are for the DHD, like MIUI, stock android, doubleshot and others.
other ROMS
You should check out the CoreDroid v.7.1 ROM it has a lot of sense 3.0 features built in, it is very fast and very stable, I am running it myself, and I am very pleased.
thanks guys.i am quite liking this community
so to be sure.i just have to root and nothing else ,to be able to install custom Roms ,true?
hope i am not annoying..
thanks and a good day to all
Yes, I would highly reccomend the ace hack kit, it is a very simple, and easy to do root, the manual OS inside of the download, follow it step by step, and feel free to PM me if you have any questions during the process

Sorry for another post so soon.
I am looking for the latest official RUU for desire s phone.
I sent mine in to get motherboard replaced as it was rebooting all the time. The techs decided to just update the rom and send it back. So obviously I will have the same problems.
I rooted and s-off etc. But problems persisted.
I now need to know the best way to return it to stock. Without them realising I have messed with the ROM
Basically all I want to do is set it back to a stock where they wont notice I have messed with it.
Right now I have used RUU which has set s-on and unrooted it. I just hope its going to be ok.....
Still cant believe they reinstalled a rom and thought it would fix the rebooting
EDIT: ... read the second post ... but still you must be blind.

s-off gives you more control over your phone and allows you to change the radio, which is needed when going from ics rom to non ics rom. Rooting gives superuser permissions which let you mess with root directory ( dont touch if noob) and use root application ie. root explorer.
If you want to un-root (you Get ur warranty back) just download the appropriate RUU to PC from here http://www.filefactory.com/f/c87a2330449af512/ (if you're a US TMobile customer download tmobile RUU)
connect phone to pc
run the .exe and ship to TMO
RUU is very easy to run.

The link he provided pointed the OP straight to the thread with all the info, whats so smart ass about that?
Rooting, s-off, ROM flashing etc can be a little confusing, however, all the info is there and in great detail.
Moreover, if ppl cant find a correct section to ask questions perhaps they shouldnt be attempting such tasks as hacking their phones?!
EDIT: Thread moved from Development to Q&A
