2d video to 3d ?? - LG Optimus 3D

can we convert 2d video to 3d ??
i got software that does just that. but when i play the file on lg 3d.
it is only showing 2 identical video side by side.
help

the O3D does 2D to 3D video itself

It may give it a 3D effect but it doesn't look very good, certainly not like recording something in 3D properly.
DVDfab is pretty good does a good job of converting it.

can dvdfab convert videos also not dvd

Hey guys hopw you dont mind me jumping in on rhis thread but when i use dvd fab can u explain which is the best format to convert to for quality??

Several 3D apps for viewing 3D images are available

There are at least 2 different freeware viewers available, for 3D photos taken with the Optimus 3D, or other stereoscopic images that you may want to view on the 3D screen.
Good to have options to the built-in viewer, which I am guessing is weak on supporting other stereo 3D formats.

seems like even the "A*o*e" suit do not support the video or photo!!!
It's all there, there is a workflow description here:
www.a*o*e.com/ie/products/creativesuite/production/stereoscopic-3d.html
Workflow overview
1. Shoot stereo footage, install A*o*e Premiere Pro and Cineform Neo3D
2. Rename assets in A*o*e Bridge for left eye and right eye
3. Use Cineform First Light to convert and multiplex each shot
4. Sync, converge, and adjust muxed assets in First Light
5. Import stereo muxed assets into A*o*e Premiere Pro
6. Edit and add 3D effects and titles in A*o*e Premiere Pro
7. Export stereo 3D assets from A*o*e Media Encoder

this workflow is for 2 separate video streams, this isn't a problem with footage from the phone so ignore that "workflow"
the video from the LG is a single MP4 file that looks like splitscreen. There is information in the MP4 header to say it is 3D (according to LG and the same with HTC and their phone). Adobe Premier will edit this without a problem, where you will run into problems is wipes, titles etc. (simple crossfades and straight cuts will be fine)
Another problem (right now) will be outputting the file, we don't yet know exactly what codec (and version) to use and how to format it (MP4 3D header?) so it plays in 3D back on the phone, though I expect this to come out pretty quick after the launch of the phone.
As for photos, I can edit them OK in Photoshop, though I have to rename to .jpg first and you need a good understanding of stereoscopic 3D to ensure you edit both "photos" correctly.
THanks for the tip, I will take a look the video lecture to see if it really help.
Because I am using a panasonic cam which produce SBS video and the Fujifim W3(avi) and the SH-12C(3gp) to create video, Editing and effect seems to be complicated with the PP5.5.
Because the SH-12 can only play mp4. it is getting complicate to just convert to the correct format.
I think one way will to to upload it to YT3d and download is back for viewing
People in A*o*e seems to like to work with the big camera with 2X 1080p stream other tha half-SBS or interlace video.
As for the MPO files can you open the 2 layers by just renaming them?

[Q] What's the best way to convert 2D to 3D movies?

i just got my Sandisk 64gb mSDXC card and i want to stuff it with 3D movies that are custom made(optimized resolution and increased volume) anyone got suggestions?
All you need to do is to convert any existing videos (eg sidebyside) to 800x480 with left image 400x480 pixels and right 400x480 alongside each other. These would be squashed horizontally but when playing it back, you can select the video options and select the original format.
Use H264 codec for tightest compression and AAC for the audio. 25/30 fps
after any conversion of the 3D effect still will not look so good, it is better initially to shoot 3D camera so as not to spoil the impression =)
I think you are looking for something like this
http://www.xilisoft.com/3d-video-converter.html
haven't tried it to be honest but tried other from their producst and are great

yeah that was the problem, after any conversion of any software its not as good as actual 3D movies

Optimus 3D 2D video recording test in Full HD. Stock ROM.

Hey guys, I recently filmed a few bugs (REAL bugs) with my optimus 3D so I decided to share it with you. All settings were automatic, stabilization was mostly ON. Videos were mixed together in windows movie maker, with absolutely no editing except adding transitions.

i think you need to add a tag called is_3d to the meta use this http://stereo.jpn.org/eng/index.html then convert to H264 with another app

Open your video in player, hit menu button then 3D formater, here you can choose what kind of 3D video your file is. After that you will see a 3D logo near your video.

nope, its not what he means.
I think u can't force 3d logo on non-3d-video, just my opinion
i tested it now and it works, but if your video is not 3D, it will not be played correctly.
I don't understand why you want a 3D logo on a 2D video.
If you want a good 3d effect you have to use native 3d videos, converted one don't have real 3d effect.

[Q] ICS 3Dvideo mods

Using a pc program "mediainfo" I noticed the 3D video encoding has changed from the codec used in gingerbread. The codec is now listed as iso which is common enough, but the codec also uses "frame tripling". The frame rate is 30fps so are we getting a 30fps with 3 frames making 1, effectively 90fps or 10fps with 3 frames duplicated to "make" 30fps.
The new 3D files cause windows explorer to continually try to analyse the mp4 files and will not automatically unmount the sd card as it is continually trying to recognize the file. The same problem also when the 3D videos are transferred to PC and the folder is viewed in explorer, cannot even re-name them with a different extension to stop the lock-ups.
Sorry to say, but 90 fps is not even true. The S3D hardware is limited to only TWO images, so it's basically split-image, either 30fps or 60fps, both left and right images. If you try 90fps, you will have image ghosting which the transparent ceramic plate is timed wrongly against video frames or worse - you will see flashing or wavy patterns which will cause you the headache. And, LCD is normally locked at 60 hertzs, as is the case with non-3D LCDs.
EDIT: The file is basically a MP4 file - with some capable media players, probably like VLC player, it will display two "squeezed" images as seen by two cameras on the 3D phone.

I didn't have a problem moving or viewing the 3D files created in gingerbread. It seems the new codec used by ICS is causing windows problems as the codec is not recognized, windows just keeps trying to update the thumnails on the sd card when connected via usb or when removed and in a sd card reader.
Just wondered if anyone has found a way round this problem.
The "frame tripling" that is reported in the pc program {mediainfo} is a part of the codec description and cannot seem to find any mention of it in this forum.
Interesting... I have a modified ICS version of 3D camera, modified for CM10 - will try this. BTW, I don't like using thumbnail feature on Windows - nothing but a PITA.

Hmmm. I have Nvidia 3d vision and drivers on my pc and I can watch video directly over hdmi and copy them, etc. Maybe you need the Nvidia drivers???
Or updated Catalyst for AMD Radeon HD 4k or later. I have Radeon 4670, BTW. It's still a great general-purpose video card.
However, I don't have a 3D monitor. Definitely outside of my budget.

The "lockup" of file monitoring in widows7 for this new codec is not my main concern, annoying as it may be. I am worried about the mediainfo report of the frame mode is "frame tripling". my own research has been that 3D capture on a 3D camera by panasonic or philips or someone ACTUALLY records at 10fps and each frame is then repeated 3 times to give a 30fps video file This would give a poor motion quality video. I need to confirm that ALL o3D ICS updates have the same frame tripling video recording, as I have some "issues" with my upgrade in other software since upgrading to ICS .If the video recorded by the ICS upgrade is in fact 10fps and multiplied x3 then it is a novelty and not really persuing 3D by upgrading PC or TV to view real 3D.
Thanks for your reply's so far.
Still interesting, however. 10 fps seems slow but here, the first ever stereoscopic 3D camcorders have slower in-order processors, BTW - not as advanced as what's in our phones. So, in reality 90 fps is actually viewable as 30 fps when the 3D LCD timing is factored here.

Sorry but don't understand the explanation or translation into english,

Indeed "TriDef Media Player" installed with my LG3D monitor can't play 3D movies from ICS but 2D is able to play.
"Stereo Movie Player" http://stereo.jpn.org/eng/index.html can't play 3D from ICS too.
Only "Stereoscopic Player" http://www.3dtv.at/Index_en.aspx can play that video.
Nvidia 3D Vision drivers work for me, but if you have an AMD GPU it may be different.
OK, works very well for me too.
After I uninstalled ffdshow
