I am trying to set up my college student email account, which is hosted by google Gmail, on my dash running WM6.
The email address is "myname"@students.kennesw.edu
I tried the same pop settings as my gmail account, incoming server pop.gmail.com : outgoing server smtp.gmail.com. I also tried the server settings as pop.students.kennesaw.edu and smtp.students.kennesaw.edu.
When i try to connect to the email account from the phone i get an error to check the account name and the password. They are both correct but it will not connect. It gives me an error that it can not connect.
Any help with how to set it up is appreciated. I have my personal Gmail set up on the same phone and it works fine and i have my school address forwarding to that email but i can not reply from that address.
Thanks
I'm not sure about this but it might be students.kennesaw.edu for both POP and SMTP
have u tried using ur email addy as username, and smtp should be that or your mobile carrier

Google's response
Hello,
Thank you for your report.
Configuring POP access for your Google Apps email account is very similar
to configuring it in Gmail. However, any time you're asked for your
username during the configuration process, you'll need to enter your full
email address, including your domain ([email protected]_domain.com). All other
settings are the same.
However, please note that we haven't been able to test POP access with
your mail client yet, but we're working to make our service compatible
with as many mail clients as possible. We look forward to announcing
additional compatibilities in the future.
Sincerely,
The Google Team
yup, me too
I'm having the same problem, also with students.kennesaw.edu. Love to see more info

Hi, I'm a noob. I have a work email that I think uses exchange (it's a big corporation and we have outlook/entourage in the offices). I can also access my email from anywhere via https://webmail.*****.com/
I can't figure out how to sync my mail app with that email. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Try the "Exchange by TouchDown", I'm sure will help
Are you using the default Froyo Email app? or something else?
your username/password combo should be your normal login credentials to login to the webmail service. If your company requires you to append the domain to the user name then it will look like this: domain\username
The server address will be the url of the webmail service for OWA. You may need to also allow all SSL connections for this to work properly.
Hope that helps.
there also is a chance that your company has not provisioned you for Exchange ActiveSync. If none of the above work, give your IT department a call and verify that youre mailbox is enabled for EAS
in the default htc app choose for exchange and put these exactly like underneath
e-mail adres [email protected]
server adres webmail.*****.com
password the password you use to log in to webmail
yes, your server requires an encrypted ssl connection
No domain name is required!!!
Hm. I tried everything above and still cant get it to work. Will talk to IT, thanks guys!
I am trying to setup Push Email for my Hotmail account using Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync. I go through all the steps and it sets it up, but after it goes to the mail list, it keeps doing a continuous loop of syncing and refreshing. Anyone else have this problem or am I doing something wrong?
You don't use exchange for hotmail use the option other and that will work.
Sent from my rooted inspire using XDA App
Will Push Email work with this?
You can't setup Hotmail as an Exchange account, there's no way I'm aware of anyway. I've never had Hotmail setup on a device where Push was available as an option, however you can set it to refresh as often as every 5 minutes
saw this somewhere and it worked for me
Protocol - pop
put email address in and user name put email address in again
put in password
pop server - pop3.live.com
security type - SSL port 995
outgoing
tick log in required
put email address in as username
put in password
smtp server - smtp.live.com
security type - TLS
server port - 587
FYI on wm6.5 hotmail is push

This makes sense
Hotmail now has IMAP which is better for cell phones than POP. It will push and sync.
Use the m.hotmail.com serever. Here it is for the iPhone:

Okay so I got Push Hotmail to finally work on the Inspire.
What I found out was that default mail app on the Inspire does not support Push Hotmail for some reason.
What I ended up doing was downloading the default Google email.apk file and installed it on my Inspire and followed the instructions to setup Push Hotmail that can my found on Google.
I have added the account to the default e-mail client (POP3, it is a custom domain, not a provided such as Hotmail or Gmail) but there appears to be no option to sync all e-mails to the device.
Within the e-mail Account Settings, I get:
General settings
Account name
Your name
Signature
Inbox check frequency
Default account
Notification settings
Email notifications
Select ringtone
Server settings
Incoming settings
Username
Password
POP3 server
Security type
Port
Delete email from server
Outgoing settings
STMP server
Security type
Port
Require sign-in
Username
Password
Remove account
Remove account
Any ideas?
I don't know the specifics of your server, but generally the POP3 protocol only transfers NEW messages, it doesn't sync the whole mailbox. For that, you may want to use a IMAP server.
Hi Guys,
can anyone guide me to configure outlook for my business email. I know the Exchange server address, username password and all details. But whenever i try to configure, its not happening.
i have my office mail configured in my office laptop. That laptop is in the particular domain. So its working fine. Its that has to do something ?
i read some threads saying we need to install a certificate in the mobile in order to access secure business email. Can anyone list me which certificate to install and how to get that.
Thanks for your time.

I think Business Outlook installs the certificate on it's own with the password lock etc and enforces the security policies.
My business outlook is set with following details:
Username - the one I use to log in
Password - the one I use for my username
Email ID - the business email address
Domain - your business domain that is generally a prefix to your username i.e. domain/username
Server address: if domain/username can't automatically find it. (mostly it does!)
That's it! It took Outlook literally 2 seconds on 3g network to find the server and start pulling my calendar, emails and contacts.
