Can't flash radio from Android Revolution ROM - HTC Sensation

I already followed all of this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300 (except the S-ON reversal obviously)
Thought I would ask out here since my post I made in the Android Revolution thread disappeared within minutes 4-5 pages behind and no answer.
Whenever I try to follow the instructions inside the recommended Radio archive file from Mike's post, it won't let me write. ADB reboot bootloader, then ADB fastboot flash radio radio.img etc... It will say sending, then FAIL -remote not allowed. Can anyone help me figure out what's wrong?
Love 1.1.3 and just holding out anxiously for 1.1.5, it's already so much better even with my original radio file!
Currently using Bell Canada's 10.50.9007.00U_10.12.9007.21_2M Anyone experiencing better results with this ROM upgrading from this radio version to Mike's recommended one? Do I need to do one of the boot (unsecured or ENG Hboot) from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1122053 ?

Got '404 not found' from your top link
If you perm rooted your phone using Revolutionary you should already have the correct S-OFF permissions to flash a radio.
I followed the instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1178143
But using Mike's radio, and all was good!

According to your HBOOT number you are still S-ON? 1.17.0011 is definately a S-ON HBOOT according to www.revolutionary.io and the FAILED:Remote not allowed is also a fastboot protection covered by a S-ON HBOOT.Mine changed to 1.17.1011 when i S-OFF'd it then i flashed the ENG HBOOT

It says S-OFF on that screen and I was able to flash the Revolution HD using Clockwork. I've been reading on some other threads that S-OFF Radio is separate from just S-OFF for ROMs... any truth to that?
Tacklebury, I would try the zip file way from your link but the radio version Mike recommends for his ROM isn't in there.

Use the zip file from Mike's OP but re-name it as the link says.
As far as I have found out and been told, if you're S-OFF with Revolutionary you're all good.

bartchow I also have a bell Sensation and I same radio as you. I wonder if you have flash another radio if yes you it's the work?
Thank!

[WARNING] Do not flash a new official RUU/ROM/OTA if you have root and/or S-OFF

DO NOT FLASH A NEW RUU OR OFFICIAL ROM IMAGE UNLESS YOU *REALLY* KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING !

As the title suggests, this is warning against flashing the new RUU_Ace_HTC_WWE_1.72.405.3_R_Radio_12.28e.60.140f_ 26.04.02.17_M2_release. It contains a new version of HBoot that breaks root and standard S-OFF! Please refer to these threads for more info:

You may be safe if you have full radio S-OFF and SuperCID but this is unconfirmed, and I would steer well clear until the DEVs have cracked open this latest HBoot.

Confirmed:
Only if you have full radio S-OFF you can 'downgrade' to 1.32xxxxxx and root
Yes, I can confirm that, too. You have to have Super-CID (Radio S-OFF) to downgrade. Rooting is not possible in this new one. Yet.
Can please someone explain me what's the real difference between ENG S OFF But CID 11111 and SHIP S OFF and CID HTC....?
ENG S-OFF: It is engineering bootloader S-OFF (may include Radio S-OFF). Allows custom bootloader commands, for example radio flashing, also allows to install custom roms.
SHIP S-OFF: Radio S-OFF, does not allow radio flashing, but allows ClockworkMod flashing. Usually comes together with SuperCID.
CID 11111111: Super-CID, Super Carrier ID, allows you to downgrade, and flash really anything to the phone without the phone saying "no thanks".
CID HTC__xxx: HTC Carrier ID, does not allow downgrading via RUU, but you can still flash through ClockworkMod if you are S-OFF.
Thank you very much for this answer..I ask because i cannot find this information somewhere in one post!
I am with ENG S-OFF and CID 11111111
So i can flash the new RUU and i am able to revert back to 1.32xxxxxx and root again.Correct?
Looks like its been rooted.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9936625&postcount=91
At least it has if you flash just the system.img
Yeah but it needs clockworkmod, which goes away if people use the actual RUU. Also flashing system.img does not replace the bootloader, so S-OFF stays in fine (also hboot S-OFF).
How can you tell what your CID is?

Bootloader > Fastboot > System Info (or something like that)
If you are SuperCID then it is 11111111 if not, then it begins with HTC_xxxx
looks like also this RUU_Ace_Orange_ES_1.75.75.2_Radio_12.28e.60.140f_2 6.04.02.17_M2_release also seems to stop you gaining root and fix's patched Hboot as someone saying he flashed the rom and can't gain root.

[HOW TO SAFELY FLASH THE NEW ROM AND BE ABLE TO REVERT BACK]
Currently, the new ROM (1.72.405.3) has a new HBOOT (so you can't install ENG HBOOT S-OFF) and is difficult to root (not as simple as it is with previous ROMs). However, it also has a better radio, and a faster ROM with various bugfixes. This ROM is also Android Froyo v2.21. If you want to try out the new ROM, whilst maintaining the ability to 'revert' back to your older, hackable state then follow the below instructions carefully. Also, do not worry about extracting system.img files and whatnot.
*It is recommended to do a NANDROID BACKUP first
*All RUUs can be obtained from www.xdafil.es/DesireHD/RUU/
*If you don't do steps 1-3 properly and flash the new ROM, you will not be able to revert back
*Radio S-OFF and SuperCID can be obtained by following instructions in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857537
*Tutorial for flashing RUUs (needed for steps 4 & 8): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=841890
1. Install Radio S-OFF (NOT ENG HBOOT S-OFF) and SuperCID
2. Go to bootloader, then System Info. (If System Info is not there, but you have SHIP S-OFF skip step 3 and proceed to step 4)
3. Make sure CID is 11111111 *AND* the bootloader shows S-OFF. If not, repeat step 1
4. You can now flash the new ROM (1.72.405.3)
5. This will remove ENG HBOOT (if you had it) and ClockworkMod
6. If you did steps 1-3 correctly, your Desire HD should still be S-OFF. Go to bootloader and check. If not, you did not do steps 1-3 correctly and will have to wait for the new HBOOT to be cracked.
When you are done with the new ROM and want to go back, follow the instructions below:
7. Download the HTC RUU 1.32.405.6 of your choice (Since you are SuperCID you can flash any RUU)
8. Flash it to your Desire HD
9. Root your ROM using Visionary, and install ROM Manager and flash ClockworkMod. You can optionally install ENG HBOOT S-OFF now if you like.
If you made a NANDROID Backup, you can restore this now from ClockworkMod

I have this working. The supplied .zip file does not include Superuser.apk. After following the instructions and then installing Superuser from the market I now have root on this rom.
Look forward to testing it over the next couple of days while I lay in hope of some custom roms based off this version.
EDIT: Superuser keeps force closing

being used to the days of winmo I flashed this rom over my cyanogen taking a backup first.
Now I can't revert back to the old stock rom, any way of doing this (easily ish)?

Question about s-off

I did the one click root and s-off method. Iv flashed a few roms they all work fine. A few of them have wifi signal problems so i want to try different radios. They say you need eng s-off correct? Not radio s-off? Well this is my real question, in bootloader it says at the top,"ACE PVT SHIP S-OFF RL". So which is it? Radio s-off or eng s-off? Thanks for any help.

I think most people would agree unless you are positive you know what your doing...eng s-off is not a good idea. Pretty much any radio you would want to flash can be flashed with just radio s-off....it just has to be in a zip named PD98IMG.zip and pretty much all the radios in this forum can be found in that format.

Check that out. It has a radio packaged in it and instructions on how to install it. And my understanding is that whatever radio you want to install, you can take that radio.img and place it in that zip to replace that radio.img that is in it. Somebody correct me if I am wrong please.
EDIT: Here is another thread with instructions on how to flash a radio WITHOUT eng s-off
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1002226
So is it eng? Or radio s-off?
And im running androidrevolution 5.1.9 and i downloaded the radio from that thread but i dont have access to a conputer to zip it and check it correctly, nor can i find the correct ziped version could somebody possibly do this for me? And the ril file? I think the radio for that rom is 12.54.60.25_26.09.04.11_M2 thanks guys!

If the radio is flashable via hboot, the thread where you found the radio should say that. The file must be named pd98img.zip for hboot to find it. When you flash a radio this way, you only need the s-off you already have (based on what your bootloader screen says). You do not need eng-off. You are good to go. You should not be zipping anything yourself...
PS Just use the stock ATT radio. There is a thread or two with the pd98img.zip that contains the radio and the ril.
Ok, i have the latest ota already, i did the wifi update before i did the one click, i guess all i need now is the matching rl from the radio i mentioned in my op
Someone just started a new thread for inspire radios. He said he will update it every Friday with radios an the matching ril for each radio.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using Tapatalk
Step 1: Find your HBoot flashable PD98IMG.zip file including a radio inside of it, which is compatible with your phone and has been tested and find its md5sum. Make sure that your not downloading a radio.img but a PD98IMG which you always will find here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1002226
Step 2: Check the md5sum on your computer (if your running windows google md5checker or something similar) match them and move it to your sdcard, but NOT in a folder.
Step 3: Check the md5sum again but from your inspire, i use hashdroid personally but theres a terminal command also. Once it matches up you are safe and ready to go, but remember you can't be to safe flashing radio's.
Step 4: Hold down Vol- & Power while phone is off and fastboot is NOT on loading yourself into hboot, next is the suspenseful part (unless you did all the steps above correctly) let it sit for a second and it will load the zip on your sdcard later prompting you to vol+ or - for yes/no select yes if you feel safe and it will flash the radio.
Step 5: Attempt to successfully boot into your current rom and then check the radio firmware by going to menu>Settings>About>Software i believe or something close.
Congratulations you've made it through easily and painlessly without needing to bother with Eng-Off.
Thank Shad0wf0x for this method as i learned from his and attn1's help through alot of irc chatting when i first got my inspire, which was also my first android/ios phone.

I don't think anyone has answered the question that he asked. He want to know if he has radio s-off or eng s-off if his bootloader screen said,"ACE PVT SHIP S-OFF RL". Answer is you have radio s-off so you can flash roms via recovery but not radios. Everyone here is just telling you that the eng s-off is not a good idea in order to flash radios and pointing you to posts that shows you how to install radios by using PD98IMG method. I used this post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1106324). All the radios are already named PD98IMG.zip, so all you have to do is place it in your sd card and use Hboot to install it. Also it has correct ril files for the radio that you can flash from cwm recovery (make sure you go to mounts and storage screen and mount/system before you flash ril files when you are in recovery).
I had the same question, now I have both radio and eng s-off, you have to use the eng s-off tool...theres a turoial (to get eng s-off).....

[Q] Different Radio in Custom Rom

Hi,
My sensation is perm rooted, Ship S-Off and supercid-ed.
I read from some posts that we need ENG S-Off to be able to flash radio.
No wish to ENG S-off for now.
So my question is:
If i want to flash custom roms that comes with a different radio as my current, do i need ENG-Off ?
This is my 1st post and appreciate any help on this matter.
Thank you.
If you have the Revolutionary HBOOT then no as it's already good enough to do it. However, flashing a radio doesn't need ENG S-OFF at all as it's a ZIP file that you flash via HBOOT - get the radio you want to use from the Radio thread

thx Eddy for your reply ... tot no one would bother to answer a noob
i have the revolutionary hboot ...
So what is the purpose of " ENG S-Off " then ?
I have searched posts on this matter but some of them comes in conflicting explanations.
It was the 'official' version of the Revolutionary HBOOT - giving users the fastboot commands.
As Revolutionary have now cracked this it's not needed. I personally prefer to use the ENG HBOOT as I don't like the pink Revolutionary banner!!

[Q] Problem with HBOOT 2.00.0002

Hi guys.. I really hope someone can help with this as i am desperate.
I unlocked my Desire S with Revolutionary, then upgraded HBOOT to ENG 2.00.0002. Until now ,after running all roms possible found on this great site, I had the pre-rooted deodexed stock 2.10.401.4
Today I downloaded the RUU_Saga_S_HTC_Europe_2.10.401.5, unpacked copied the PG88IMG.zip to my sdcard and begun update. The update was unsuccessful. Now my device says this:
*** LOCKED ***
*** Security warning ***
SAGA PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-2.00.0002
RADIO_3822.10.08.04_M
eMMC-boot
The phone is stuck is FASTBOOT, and selecting BOOTLOADER only loads again PG88IMG.zip, and of course after "Checking PG88IMG.zip" it errors with Main version is older! <Power> to REBOOT.
IS there anything that can be done? PLS HELP!

If you remove or rename the PG*.... file from the root of your SD card this should stop happening..
Then you should be able to enter recovery, where I'm hoping that you'll have an available Nandroid backup that you could restore to.
Problem is that choosing recovery from bootloader does nothing, just brings me back into fastboot. I think that recovery was wiped during the failed update process.
Also my device is S-on now so i cannot flash a new recovery in fastboot.
Now I'm afraid that I'm a little out of my depth here so won't offer any more advice.......but, you should be able to flash the recovery partition from fastboot...So hopefully all is not lost yet...
EDIT: Apology, only just read that you're S-ON and am not sure what to recommend.
You should look at my guides below. Both will tell and show you how to flash recoveries via fastboot.
Check my sig below.

If you have read the guide, you should have known that before you can flash ANYTHING on fastboot, you have to be UNLOCKED first..
You should have tried to unlock it BEFORE flashing anything..
If these doesn't work, then you may be right on your last sentence..
Goodluck!
Before attempting the RUU update with pg88img.zip i had ENG HBOOT with S-OFF, but during that update something went wrong. It managed to update to the official HBOOT 2.00.2002 S-ON, but then i got the "Main Version is older - Update Fail! error and i think I need to send it to HTC as I see no way out of this. What i do not understand is this "Main Version is older - Update Fail!" error! why did this happen in the first place as i was updating from pre-rooted deodexed stock 2.10.401.4 to 2.10.401.5.
Simmilar problem, still wifi not working
I have got simmilar problem on desire s, got revolutionary S-OFF with 0.98 then tryied RUU with sense, something went wrong.. now i have hboot 2.00.0002 radio 3822.10.08.04_M i opened the hboot via HTC development page, then i flashed the newest ROM by Adidas108: RUU_Saga_S_HTC_Europe_2.10.401.5_signed_prerooted SENSE 3.0(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1183684)
now the system is booting properly and i can use the phone again, but the wifi is not working, which sucks because there is newest radio and according adidas108 newest ROM. I havent found solution for this as my hboot is in S-ON now and i cant flash different version of radio. I think first i need to find how to make hboot 2.00.0002 into S-OFF. Anyone any idea?
UPDATE 1: now i managed to install the ROM build 1.28.401 prerooted by Adidas108, everything seems to be working again, even wifi is ok. It is strange that the old ROM is working with newest RADIO and the newest ROM not, does anyone has any reasonable explanation to this issue?
Can you please be more specific on how you dealt with your HBOOT. Did you somehow managed to get it S-OFF. I sure need to flash a new recovery and from there i am good, i can resurrect my phone.
No my hboot 2.00.... Is s-on, i just unlock the recovery it means i can flash roms, but i cant overvrite radio or hboot on its own. I then flashed in recovery RUU_Saga_S_HTC_Europe_2.10.401.5_signed_prerooted SENSE 3.0 by Adidas108 and it all works perfectly now since my radio was updated before the error with "Main version is older" in the official RUU_Saga_S_HTC_Europe_2.10.401.5. thanks guys for the help.. i read Skanob guides again and found out about htcdev.

BTW, from my experience it seems that you could update your radio to latest version if you try with the official RUU_Saga_S_HTC_Europe_2.10.401.5. It will probably error "Main version is older" and lock your bootloader, but you could unlock it on htcdev, and enter custom recovery after that and flash Adidas108's RUU. My wifi works perfectly with 20.4801.30.0822U_3822.10.08.04 radio.
Solution
So finnally my cell is working with sense 3.0. I downgraded hboot to 0.98.0000 thanx to Skanob(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1318919), then S-Off with revolutionary, flashed actual clockwork mod recovery, after the newest saga radio and as the last the newest ROM by Adidas108. Everything works fine, even with hboot 98.0002. End of Story

Serious Probelm with falshing new Radio

Hi guys
i have a serios problem, i have been sitting on my phone and flashing various new things for several hours now...
i want to flash Mikes Android HD 6.1.1 on my Sensation
according to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14192842&postcount=4
i have no Android OS running at the moment, when i start my phone n bootloader it sais:

RADIO-11.21.3504.13_2
OpenADSP-v02.6.0.2226.00.0104
eMMC-boot
as i understand i have to update the Radio to 11.68.3504.00U_11.21.3504.13_2
but whenever try it whith the downloaded "adb tool" (just click "start here" and follow the guide....)
i always get the same error Sending img OK
Wriging FAILED (Remote: not alloed)
i read some threads which suggested taht i coud be an USB driver issue, so i tried serveral different PC's -> still the same error
i found some threads which mean that the probelm is missing ENG S-OFF, but how do i get ENG s-OFF on Hboot 1.27?
i am really in trouble here since i have no working phone at the moment
BIG THX
You cant use the adb tool as the 1.27 doesnt support adb commands (from what i understand)
You should be able to flash and boot ARHD 6.1.1 anyway as you are on the 1.27 HBOOT.
If you want the new radio then i would recommend getting the firmware package from mikes thread HERE , put the PG58IMG.zip on your sdcard and boot into HBOOT. It should then reflash the firmware including the radio. Theres also noob proof firmware packages as a sticky.
Hope that helps.
Thx for the fast Answer!
i already updated the firmware package from taht link

but you mentionned that the Raio sould also be updated whith that?

lol, u have got the latest radio...what else do ya want mate???
Great i just flashed ARHD 6.1.1 as a try and it works!
in fact, your radio is "11.68.3504.00U_11.21.3504.13_2" now.
so don't worry about it, just do the next step.
