Do you have HTC Sync installed on your PC? should come as an exe on your SD card or available from HTC support.
Have you tried a new cable or proved using a different USB device that the port works?

Yes, you could
Ensure that Settings->power->fast boot = N
Then power off phone
remove SD card
put SD into SD card reader
load wanted files onto the Sd card
put card back into phone
boot phone
use a file explorer on phone to copy necessary files.
If USB not working and you've tested another cable then I'd return the device under warranty.
Ok that's what I shall do thanks

Just to add to this, I am also having a USB issue with my Desire S.
I'm sure it worked fine (via a PC for disk mounting etc) when I first got the phone but when I came to root my phone the other night I couldn't get my PC to recognise the phone at all. No "new USB device" sound plays when the phone plugs in. I've tried different cables and computers.
The phone is not recognised in recovery mode either.
I brought the phone off eBay and the seller did include the receipt so would I be able to get it replaced under warranty do you think?

I'd try a full reset, just to see if that helps.
But it does sound like hardwars issue and I believe you should be covered under warranty

i had the same same problem. after 2 weeks usb just died! couldn't connect to a pc or even charge. htc fixed it and works fine since then.
Just an update:
T-Mobile store were useless. They wouldn't help at all. Contacted the original eBay seller to ask them to try and transfer the phone into my name but T-Mobile wouldn't comply!
Out of desperation (after experiencing their awful e-mail support) I gave HTC a call on their Global Warranty Service hotline: (+44 1279 206906)
The service was outstanding. Asked a few questions, didn't patronise me and they spoke English I could understand!! Less than 10 minutes on the phone to them and he'd already booked UPS to come and collect the phone to be repaired this Monday from 1pm (from my work address too).
T-Mobile: USELESS
HTC phone support: AMAZING.
my phone get this usb problem and i sent it to warranti to fix
no soft ware can fix this issue

Well guys i have a big problem. Its shouldn't be that big considering its a connection problem, but i can't seem to be able to fix it. I've been trying to connect to my laptop/desktop using the supplied micro usb and a blackberry micro usb, but it won't let me transfer files. the option to turn on storage doesn't even pop up on the notifications. it charges but thats it. i have all necessary drivers and the USB debugging option is checked. Any info or help would be welcome thanks!!

Mine wouldn't connect until i reinstalled the LG T-Mobile G2x drivers and now it mounts every time. The drivers in the updater tool installed the 3.2.1 drivers which is for the G-slate. You need the 2.2 drivers which are for the G2x, if you need them just pm me and i can send them to you.
i deleted and reinstalled the 2.2 drivers with no success. im starting to think there's something wrong with my phone. But it could also be that i'm now running the Gingerbread leak from yesterday. rooted and working perfectly... well almost. i just need to get usb connection working.
Similar issue. This worked for me on Win 7.
Uninstall the LG Drivers and reinstall the G2x 2.2 package from LG.COM /us/support/mc-support/mobile-phone-support.jsp (I can't post links)
Plug the phone in and go to Device Manager. There should be a USB Composite Device that is not properly installed. Right click it and select Update Driver Software.
Select 'Browse my computer', then 'Let me pick'. Choose have disk, and browse to where the LG Drivers are installed. Likely C:\Program Files\LG Electronics\LG United Mobile Driver\ and select lgbus9x.inf.
Then pick LGE Android Platform Composite USB Device from the list of drivers. Should be the top option. Hit next.
I let it sit for a minute while the drivers installed. Some things registered in device manager right away, the LGE USB Modem for one. But, the drives didn't. Unplugged the phone, plugged it back in, and the drives popped up under Portable Devices.
@conspirator_boff i tried ur steps, but i couldn't find the USB Composite Device in the list of the USB Controllers in Device manager. Am i missing a step?
Humm, depending how it is connected it could have a different name. Do you have anything that isn't installed properly?
Also, if you haven't, you might want to look into mother board / system driver updates.
I'm in exactly the same boat. Running on Win 7 64 bit.. tried both 2.3 and 2.2 drivers but no luck. It doesn't get detected AT ALL. Tried with 3 different USB Cable on 3 different ports. I can connect other phones to the same port/cable without any issues.
I suspect there is actually something wrong with the phone or with a specific batch of phones. I googled around and read about a couple (husband and wife) who connected both their G2x's to the same computer on the same port/cable 1 at a time. One always worked, and the other never worked. I believe he eventually returned it and got a new one which worked fine.
We may have ended up with the ones from a bad batch?

Hmm interesting. I can't say the same for mine since this was the very first time I actually connected it up to the computer. Mine is completely stock and I bought it at launch.
Just to give you guys an update:
I took my G2x to a local T-Mobile store. They tested my phone out on their own computers and it did not mount via USB. They ordered a replacement phone so it is actually an issue for some people and not drivers/system setup. Apparently I was the 3rd case that the store had encountered.
Mine wouldn't connect until i turned USB debugging on, now it connects every time. Might give that a try.

Same here. No luck with it on or off.
After unrooting my phone to take to Verizon for some repairs, I can't connect my phone to a computer. I haven't connected my phone to a computer since I rooted back in March. And you don't need to connect to unroot.
I read somewhere that upgrading the radio will fix it but I'm not rooted so I can't. All I want to do is root again and I cannot. My mac doesn't see with osx or bootcamp, it and neither does my Windows 7 desktop. It's not that it's unrecognized, my computers just can't find it.
Is there some fix that I'm just not finding? Or is my USB port fried? I've tried another cable as well.
I can still charge so idk. I'm at a loss.
I had something similar happen to me the other day. I upgraded the hard drive on my netbook & then did a fresh install of Windows 7 Ultimate x64. upon getting it up & running, I plugged in my phone and it just said "USB device not recognized".
Seeing as how I ocassionally do wired tethering with PDAnet, I loaded PDAnet on to the netbook & then it specified to disconnect my phone & asked what manufacturer phone I have. I selected "HTC", it installed HTC drivers, then asked me to plugmy phone back in(with USB debugging on), then it said it was installing my phone and everything went smooth from there.
Right, but I don't even get "Unknown Device" or "Device not recognized". Absolutely nothing happens.
My phone will charge but neither device talks to each other.

that *might* work.. if your PC is a store bought system, you'd just go to the manufacturers website and download the drivers from the 'downloads/support' page, then uninstall from device manager, reboot, re-install(and possibly reboot again).
if it's a custom PC, you'd goto the motherboard manufacturers page & do the same thing. if you don't know the make/model of the motherboard, it will also tell you in device manager(or just remove the side of the case and look at the motherboard itself, it'll be labelled somewhere near the cpu).

If by loading Hboot you mean loading the bootloader and trying every single option (even Hboot USB), then yes.

not sure if you've tried another USB cable or not, but if you have and it's still doing the same thing then it has to be a hardware related issue. possibly something wrong with the USB connection on your phone.
Awhile back, mine was doing something weird where when i'd plug it in to charge it and it kept showing that it was constantly charging, then not charging... I thought "what the hell!?".. I ended up trying canned air and it helped a little.. but started up again. I finally used some 'electrical parts cleaner' on it and ever since it's been functioning normally again.

well, in the time I've had my TBolt, I've tried out every radio & countless rom/kernal variations. I have never had an issue connecting to PC on any radio so I doubt the radio has anything to do with your issue.
You have already attempted everything else though(a side from the cleaning) so i'd wonder if there's some sort of issue with the software on your phone.
I have had this exact problem.. have tried different PC's, different cords, different usb ports...I have tried to mount under CWM also. Computers don't give any indication that there is anything hooked into them....the phone does charge however. I have reinstalled the ROM (using CM7.1.1) I have intalled previous backups which had no problems linking to my PC. I have not tried to clean the charging port..will give that a go...I feel I will have to by a card reader for my pc to read the microSD. worked fine for 6 months, but then just quit. Posted this problem on android central...but no one could figure out a solution, thought someone here might have....last post on my AC thread from someone with same problem was told by verizon/htc to send it back for replacement...don't want to but might have to do this...love to have a brilliant idea before I do though! Can't post the link to the AC thread as I am a new registered user here..been trolling all year...but you can find it under the Thunderbolt Rooting. ROM's and Hacks area.....
I'm pretty sure no one has a solution to our problem. I've taken compressed air and cleaned everything and still no luck. It's just a question of how much they'll charge me for it.
My phone hanged (froze) when I was answering a call.
Screen went partially black and was not responding.
I switched off by long pressing the power button and now the phone won’t start.
Removing battery, SIM card, microSDHC doesn’t help.
I also cannot enter Recovery mode.
I tried unbrick with this method but when connecting computer detects new hardware omap4430 and after 1 sec omap4430 disappears/disconnects and then connects again and immediately disconnects and again…
The same both on Win7 64bit and clean installed XP 32bit.
ROM ThiaiZO3D V2.1 GB
Please help.

I was searching this forum and found similar problem here. So is it hardware problem (PCB)?

I tried it, phone is still disconnecting when I hold volume up and power or when I hold any other combination of keys.
When I connect the phone (with battery) and press only power I hear sound of connecting device in windows and then immediately disconnecting sound.
So it looks like the phone wants to start but something is damaged, blocking (I think it's hardware problem). Also in the past it hanged many many times (but I was able to restart until the last one).
Right now phone is on the way to service.
Thanks everyone for help.
I will inform about results of repairing by service.
Same exact problem
Got the same exact problem with mine. It's a rogers LGP925G and no matters if I install the driver or anything nothing is doing the trick.
I'm going to drop it at rogers tomorow for warranty repair/replace and hopefully Lg staff won't be able to see I changed the software since it's impossible to even have the phone connected to a computer.
It happened to me when I tried to format a 32GB sdcard on cyanogenmod7 nightly 5
I'm not blaming cyanogenmod at all, it's a great rom and I know the maintainer is doing a great my dream and nexus one are still running uber fine on both of them.
So it's only to try to see what can have cause this problem and if there is a crosslink to do with both cases.
Also did you tried warranty replacement? did it work??

how i unbricked my O3D
Its rather simple really.
the easiest way is to just download the software update software on lg site for phone model. launch the software. Take out battery, attach usb to pc, then hold volume up and power at same time, the software will see phone, select customer support then recovery – type IMEI number and then software will just re download and flash the phone to repair. this is the way that LG software can repair a rooted phone gone bad, though LG will not tell any1 this when u call them, i work in the industry and a former LG technician mentioned this to me. worked a treat when i thought i bricked my O3d. Also this usually just does a repair installation so usually it keeps all your settings.

Same problem here... OMAP connects and disconnects to fast, I tried omap4boot fix... but It didn't work. Finally, I sent it to repair, as it was on warranty.
My original Sensation broke due to the USB port and it not being able to charge.
I have my replacement, I'm rooted and everything, now a new problem arises.
When connected to computer, I don't get a prompt nor does it recognize that it is connected to a computer; however, it does charge. I have no option to mount as disk drive, etc.
What's the problem?
This happened before I flashed a new Rom, but I managed to flash ARHD 6.2.1 through other means. I thought it would fix it, but nothing.
EDIT: Could it be the computer? I will try on my coworkers computer, although it was working on mine before this process.
I think it is just a hardware fault again, but you can check usb debugging, check if you have any setting as default by fault. wich will end the notfy.

something similar to this happened to my Sensation just out of the blue. I tried different cables but nothing worked, it would just charge but not mount. I eventually figured out it was my laptop and simply rebooted it and everything worked just fine, hope this works for you!
It's all good now. At first I thought it was a problem with the Senny.
However, I ran device manager on the computer, and then re-booted. All is well now. Thanks.
I got this issue a while back don't know what triggered it . I gave it to a local repair guy and got him to change the port he did but still the phone would only charge and in some cases show up as an unknown device on the pc I did try an old version of HTC sync

i apologise if my question has been answered but sadly the last time i asked the same question i tried all solutions
A. holding down the power button for 10 seconds so as to force restart the phone
B. obtain the newest htc sync which includes the driver set for htc phones
C. tried a working driver set posted by a member
D. the last solution posted by many around the net and on xda was to change the usb port which i did. twice it just showed up as an unknown device
and today it connected showed it was installing drivers and connection suddenly got disconnected and sadly im not in the states to take my phone back to htc or at&t to get the issue resolved

i have only one oem htc cable at home got it with the original(international one x), i did try an oem s2 cable but sadly no result will hopefully try to borrow a friends one x cable and give it a try
thanks for your input :good:
although when i attempt to use internet pass through a usb connection sign would show up on the notifications bar , when i click it it gives me options
1. internet pass through
2. internet tethering
3. smart network sharing
all of which dont seem to work at all (internet pass through would start but would just end up saying unable to do so)
also when i choose the none option it would say usb connected but when i pull the plug out it still says usb connected which require me to restart the phone
Not sure if anyone is still following this, but I'm with you yubr. I basically gave up on this phone about a year ago because everyone kept saying that it was the cable or that i need correct drivers. I could not find anything to help my situation.
Everyone wants to put in their two cents and say its a bad cable/driver/jack. Most of these answers coming from people that dont even own this phone.
I also have the AT&T HTC One X.
Here are the things i've done.
Used original USB cable that came with AT&T HTC One X
HTC Sync updated to latest
New USB cable for AT&T HTC One X
Multiple new universal USB cables
Old versions of HTC Sync
Multiple reset procedures
Replacing USB port
There is nothing wrong with the USB cable or the drivers, the phone originally worked without HTC software and with !ANY! USB cable. One day it just stopped connecting to the PC. No changes to the PC no changes to the phone. I believe it has something to do with the way the phone emulates the sd card.
I'm just getting really irritated at everyone jumping on saying that its been answered a million times and you must not have researched or you would find it.
Well over a year ago i spend a few weeks trying to research this with no reasonable information to help with my situation. Now im looking to try and root this phone again and its still the same stuff on the forums.
There are very similar situations, but i dont believe this one has been resolved, and if so, why spend the time to reply with what you think is a joke about taking a **** and not doing research. Instead put a link up if you truly think it was answered.
