What is really 1s Sense Rom to the next?.. - HTC Inspire 4G

Ok so I have been going through a lot of the roms and seeing whats really difference between one sense rom to the next sense rom they all seem "stable" "fast" etc. side note here great work to the DEvs for making them btw keep it up.
But I have been running ninja 716 great work too, I'm looking to flash something new. I have flashed cleardroid, androidREV:, Gingerbeast, Cm7 nightly, Virtous,HoneySense HD, MIUI. Idk this may seem really funny but idk I did not see much differences between them lol.. well take that back a few of them seemed laggy, and battery life but thats about it lol..O. and besides the govs and setting for stuff like that. I know its Personal Choice. I just wanted something different and ninja seemed to be the only rom that i see a change,it could be me..most likely it is lol..
So I guess if anyone point out some other roms that is not memory hog like sense? that they like.
O what else is good thats out that you like to add to your roms (if they have mod packs for the rom) besides a new kernel, radio, RIL..
Well thanks for any reply's and suggestions.

I kno different Roms offer different advantages , some are speed, some are feature based etc. but wat i want to know and probably many others is Which one is overall BETTER?!?!? there are so many to choose from lol which is a GREAT!!! thing. Im talkin speed, stability, features, themes,MEMORY.
Which Rom offers all of these factors at there BEST?
Maybe im askin too much but im pretty sure THOUSANDS are asking the same thing lol
That one!!
No seriously, you need to try them one by one since everyone has their preference with such things. I know on my last phone I was flashing a new one between 2-4 weeks after I tested a ROM and feel like it wasn't good enough.
Lmao im doing that now lol every friday im flashing a new Rom! i think my fone is gonna blow up by my head while im talking to somebody lmao im tired of this ... im currently on Miui 1.1.14 i want to settle on one! Lol

To be honest with you i agree with them. Different builds have different advantages and disadvantages... none are perfect. But some are pretty close. Im currently using Cognition 3.0.2 And i love it. Unfortunately i like customizing to the max and myself nor anyone else can figure out how to change/add a boot sound. Still a few minor issues with gps but overall its a pretty solid rom. Then again as you above me said... im also always changing roms and i have no intentions of sticking to one as they change so often. It really is a matter of personal preference.
looking around

Which one is right for you?

So i am familiar with flashing phones somewhat. Used to jailbreak iphones but lost interest since the iphail screen broke and was just a POS in general. Been using a blackjack2 ever since which never failed me till recent.
Big upgrade to the inspire so even ATT Rom would be "WOW" to me. Question is how do i know what rom to flash. Which one is right for me. So many out there.
I am looking to flash the phone and then unlock it but what rom has the least amount of glitches that is running pretty smooth and allows all functions to be used.
Was lurking around for a bit and saw this.

roms are chosen by preference really the only way to find a rom that best suits you is to try them all till you find 1 that you like
now the link that you posted is the rom that i first went with & never looked back try it out & see how you like it
yea from what i have been reading this is confusing and its down to personal preff. Quiet honestly i dont want to keep switching things even though its not that hard.
I was searching and also found that leedroid is praised upon but i think leedroid is just better than stock with the bloatware out plus a few added bonuses vs the link i provided is loaded compared to leedroid.
Not sure on what to do here. I dont mind the battery life staying where its at. An increase would deff be good but its my first nice phone in a while so i want to enjoy it.

I like sense. So I am biased towards sense based roms. But leedroids has been on my phone the longest. I have tried 4 others and of course a stock that I ripped out all the bloat. I keep returning to leedriod. the dudes rom is amazing
Make a rom back up of each and that way you can just return to what you like the most.

I have never even tried CM7 - Something just doesnt interest me about it. So Ican;t sway you. But really man, just make a back up of what you have now. Don't like the new one recover. If you like the new one, make a back up of it and try another. Its saves time and you can try em all. I'm a Rom Junkie tho so...Lol
CM7 is very nice I had it for a while and its nice. The problem with CM7 nightly is you will flash alot because they have alot of updates Im currently using MIUI and Im absolutely LOVING IT!!!!! I was using LeeDroid before and it was also AMAZING. I just love how MIUI have alot of themes to go with it and the UI.

Yes or just updates making it better. Yes to me LeeDroid was my favorite Sense ROM. Like that guy said you can just try every ROM and see which one fits you best.
yea try more than one rom. add some rcmix kingdom in there. sense 3.0 is slick. but its pretty alpha (stable enough im still using v 0.1 daily)
dont matter just use some sense and backup before making changes. if your txts are that important, dont forget to back them up too.
I've got to second this - I haven't used MIUI yet, but LeeDroid is the best rom I've used yet. I've tried CM7 and Android Revolution.
I have been liking this rom a lot:

Is the Sensation dead on the development?

I am sure some a gearing up on the ICS roms but over all there just doesnt seem to be a whole lot out there for the phone as far as roms go. I completely respect the work that has been done and am certainly grateful! However...my G2 seemed like it had a new rom out everyday with so many options to choose from. Maybe it just felt that way because it was my first Android phone but honestly I still visit those forums and see new roms coming out. For the Sensation they all seem the same with very minimal tweaks to the device. Are we still waiting on something or is this phone left in the dust with all the new phones(amaze, SGSS2, etc. etc. )? Just wanted a most likely more informed opinion then my own
What more can this phone do it will match any newer phone out. There is only so much u can do on a phone and most roms are at a stable state so there is nothing left to add. We still see a couple roms updated a week which isn't baf.its just slowed because there is nothing else to add all the roms have everything already
sent from a guy living in a van down by the river
I guess it's just me then. I just don't feel like I've found THE rom. Everyone seems to have something missing or just off a little. I just know with my G2 I was able to find a couple that I was more then content with. (I know STFU and go back to your G2 then) I love the Sensation...just looking for that happy medium that I haven't quite found yet I guess.
I think you have to look better. There is still much development going on, many ROMs out there. In the last days there have not been many updates, as there were no new leaks from HTC or from anywhere. But the kernel devs are still developing like hell.
For me my ROM is very stable, I don't miss anything what could be done on ROM-base. So why updates, updates and updates? Never change a winning team
After testing a lot of ROMs, most of them are already quite stable... Don't think there's much to work on. It's a good thing no?

I guess you haven't heard about ics source being out and a rom. being developed right now for it?
I'd say it's pretty far from being dead... There are some pretty good ROM options out there... InsertCoin, Android Revolution HD...which really make the device shine on a whole new level... And something brand new comes along every week or 2...
I guess if you're looking to download a new ROM every day, you might consider it dead...but then again, who'd want to switch ROMs every day? I, for once, am content with the current plateau...it lets me actually USE my phone...rather than keeping it plugged in and flashing/reflashing all the time...
Anyway, stay tuned...
Well, developement isn't dead, but it's booooring as hell compared to what Desire was/is. That's the problem with having current high end phone, there isn't much stuff to port.
It just look boring because most of the roms are the same as in sense 3.5 wich cant be fully theme yet. Almost every rom is stock sense 3.5, thats why i`m still on sense 3.0 because it can be fully customize. Nobody is trying to make their roms look different like on the desire forum and other forums. There can be many sense 3.5 roms but if they all look different than it will look like a lot of developement is going on but because they look the same makes it look like nothing is going on.

There is a rooted stock ROM, there are about 4 Sense 3.5/Android 2.3.7 based ROMs with full Sense UI, there are two direct CM7 ports, there are at least 2 Sense 3.5/Android 2.3.7 with some or all Sense UI components stripped.
I really don't know what you're expecting. We have basically everything you could hope for at this point.
If you don't mind going without Sense, I highly recommend HyperSensation, as I've seen between 14-25hrs of battery life on a single charge depending on usage (14hrs being with constant, heavy usage and long phone calls over 3G).
While ROM development has certainly slowed down, the kernel devs are still releasing betas every couple of days, which in my opinion is more exciting because the kernel side has a more direct effect on speed and battery life.
I'd say just find a stable build and run with it while we wait for ICS stuffs to be released.
By the way, have you checked out the MiUI build that MiUI.us is putting out there? It is by far my favorite rom to use (yes you can theme it to NOT look like an iPhone lol) and it's fast with excellent battery life. The only thing that keeps me from making it my daily is the need for a good camera with full HD recording, which Scott and TD are actively working on. I have two young kids under 2 years old, so I kind of need that stuff haha.
For what it's worth, my daily now is ARHD 3.6.7 with Faux's 0.2.5.5. Excellent stability, speed and battery life so far has been awesome.
Since ICS source is out I doubt any Devs would continue work on Gingerbread based ROMs. The reason Desire has more development is all the Sense 2.5+ ROMs are ports and so require fixing and more development. Since Senny is a stock Sense 3 phone there is nothing that can be added that aint already been done.
Once ICS development gets going we will see more ICS stock ROMS.
ICS will be better on Sensation. +trolface+

While I agree this phone isn't completely dead, you should look at some other phones out there. The vibrant for example or desire have had and still have more and more diversified roms. Most of our sensation roms are just sense over and over again. Anyway just my 2 cents.

Seems to be related to Sense being more popular on Sensation than other phones, in this case the users here lack interest in CM & AOSP & MIUI. There is some interest but that doesn't make up the majority of the users of Sensation; I find it quite odd since normally MIUI & Vanilla would have more users than the stock UIs(based on my past phone experiences). If people cared more for CM/MIUI/AOSP, then development may be much better, a new MIUI ROM would be made every week by TheDerekJay when I had MT4G, and I miss this kind of updating on my Sensation. Not to say devs here don't update, can't really say the rate of updates is equal IMO.
Ive enjoyed all the development that goes on for sensation. Was this thread posted before actually looking at the dev section??? 2 pages of roms are at least updated every 2 weeks
i have htc Sensation and the development
there r many roms running sense 3.0 / 3.5 but all of them resemble each
and the development for ICS it's slow in Sensation
there r many devices run ICS with working touch screen and every day have update .. last ICS update for ICS before 5 days and i think the rom not a flashable file
I bought the Sensation to replace my Desire, and it's true that I am a bit disappointed after the number of ROM available for Desire ... but Sensation's ROM are very good, I miss a really stable AOSP ROM and it could be perfect!
ROMs have gotten to the point where they are pretty much stable, what more can you ask for?
I think you'll start seeing things as HTC releases more for our devs to customize the ish out of.

MIUI or CM7 - Which's better?

im on MIUI 1.11.18 but i was just generally wondering what everyone else thought was better and why?...
sent from Motorola Defy @1.3gz running 2.3.7!
General purpose question.
And you've to test a rom by yourself because, some people like Miui and some others like CM7 ... there is no rule on that!
Me I like both, but what a shame I only have one Defy...
Pepsi and coke. They are both good roms I like cm7 more but that's just me. Find your flavor and if u ever get bored switch it up.
Same as both answers above, you will not get a definite answer. Only way is to try both yourself then decide which one you like best.
If you want speed then CM7 is better, but if you something that looks good and is a lot more customizable then MIUI is the choice.
I am always swapping and changing between them both.
Cheers
But, if you want best of bouth roms, then CMIUI by chile.

I like some functions in MiUI like the phone where it searches the contacts as you type, the look and feel of MIUI etc while there are some functions in CM7 like changing track with long press volume, long press back killing application etc are very nice. I finally settled for CM7 with go contacts and launcher

so why is some ppl still think version 2.0 is the best when the rom is already at v2.5? obviously some of the newer cm7 drivers inputs aren't that great?
i was on cm7 and currently looking for alternatives because of some of the problems with recent cm7. i think sync/merge with cyanogen kills it, and in turns indirectly kills cmiui......

CMIUI v2.5 feels stable enough. I updated from 2.0 to 2.5. Both versions are fine.
Isn't a question of what's better, it's defined by your taste. Considering both "stock" versions, with no customizations (like CMiUI or BareBones):
CM7 is stable, fast and light. If you want your phone to run like a bullet, even with several background applications running, this is your goal.
MiUI is quite fast, and beautiful. If you run no background apps (like, i.e., Usage Timelines or Lookout), it'll run as fast as CM7, but it has a poorer performance for gaming or other high-CPU/GPU consuming tasks compared to CyanogenMod.
There are implementations that make things even better: CMiUI claims to make the phone as fast as if it was running CM7 (I don't think so, but I still think it's the best ROM available), and BareBones is supposed to make CM7 phones run even faster (which is perfectly plausible, since it rips off almost every app which isn't indispensable for the phone to work). It's up to you to try the ROMs and find the one that suites better with your personal needs.
How about battery life?
On which one is better?
i've tried cm7, galnet ics miui, and dsj ics miui. can't say i noticed much differences in battery life. they all consumed about 0.5-0.6% of battery life per hour in deep sleep.
performance wise cm7 is still the smoothest and most stable. i have no doubt about that. it has the least troubles/problems.

What's the difference between all these ICS ROMs/ports?

I know. I can read. I have read OPs and most posts. I want to know what makes each ROM/port different. Each of them have almost same features and looks. I'm asking comparing CM9 vs Stock vs AOKP vs Slim vs Beam vs etc and cMIUI vs MIUI. I'm not complaining, just want people to share what make them choose one ROM over the other because all are smooth and fast and awesome and so on the same generic descriptions... Let's be honest, most of the has mainly same features, like to mod battery icon, clock, toggles, drawer, theme, lockscreen, some apps here and not there, different bootanimation, etc... you know what I mean. So what is it then? Please, elaborate some answers.
To me, there is a noticeable difference between all mentioned and RemICS and so with AOKPCB but mostly because of the theme/looks and some apps and few features.
I would like to read something else than just "X ROM is fast and smoother" and yes I know everyone is different so they get different experience with their ROM of choice, but what makes you choose a ROM over the other. That's the thing
No trolling allowed and it's not my intention to offend anyone. I appreciate all projects and stuff here, I'm not complaining. Just curious.

They basically all come from the same base as far as Android OS goes, and as far as comparing no one can tell you what to choose. I know you are not asking for someone to choose for you, but that kinda is where the question leads. Compare them for yourself. See what you like. They all have their own flavor, mods, tweaks. Some are closer to stock, others are heavily modded. That's your answer in a nutshell. No one is gonna sit down and draw you up a chart of features for each rom.

I can ask there but that's not my phone and that doesn't answer my question. It's obvious they are there for choice, how to choose then? Why? That's what I would like to read. BTW, thanks for updating RemICS.

You just have to choose what you like and what works for you. It's that simple. Until Aries is released and we have an updated kernel, they are all about the same, but Aries will fix some issues. Like those blasted capacitive back lights timing out.

What made you choose miui for your phone? Did you try different ROMs before?
@HKSpeed
Oh, I haven't updated that... I'm on CM9 at the moment. My ROMs of choice are Team Acid's. I have been using their work since Froyo so I'm biased. I was on AOKP but battery was a big issue for me, it drained very fast, so I went on CM9 to see how it works since most other ROMs are based on it. Thought it should be more simple, less tweaked. I have tried all, except Linaro and Provision. I like them all but somehow I can't notice difference between them except but a few little things here and there.
I was on MIUI because Dao kept updating it and fast. It was more advanced than other ports/ROMs, then I went on AOKPBC just to see and the theme was too heavy, awesome but not what I was looking for.
I'm not saying I will stay on CM forever, might go on a flashing rampage sometime soon. I know these are WIP that depend on kernel so until then I shall keep experimenting.
I know the others have said pretty much the same thing I am saying, but it comes down to a matter of choice. The ICS roms are all CM9 base if I am not mistaken, so you are dealing with mostly the same issues and bugs on each, so it really comes down to a point of which theme you want and which apps/bloat you want. It becomes a real pain to have to debloat/rebloat a rom and I only ever do so if the theme and layout is custom and really nice but fun to use. If it's basically a stock rom and doesn't have typical apps/bloat/mods/tweaks that I am used to using, I hit the thanks button for the hard work that helps future devs have an easier time and keep looking for a rom that has everything I want. Right now, I am going to be selling my phone soon so I can get a SGS III at least, or maybe wait to see if the rumors are true and T-Mob gets the One X+. I'm drooling over that OC'd Tegra 3 ::fingers-crossed: But, that doesn't mean I won't be trying out different roms at the moment. I love the ICS roms but hate that I can't use calling over wifi. I know there are other options, but they are a bit of trouble with linking google voice among other things, so ICS isn't really for me yet even though it is beautiful. There's my choice...what's yours?
Ive tried to not post but it bothers me when people cant understand a simple question.
Chris31jct is NOT asking for you to convince him. He is asking why did YOU choose a specific rom.
He is also asking for a reason other than the generic responses given 90% of the time.
I started out on aokp then when slimics was released I used it for a while. I wanted to try aokp to see why it was so popular. I like aokp the customization options its a nice rom. I wanted to try slimics just because it doesnt have all the extra apk that aokp and cm9 have that I never use.
Most of the time I will test a rom just to see what the hype is.
3 things decide your choice of a ROM:
Stability
Customization
Battery consumption
In terms of Stability, Usually the higher the customization and options of a ROM, the more conflicts it has( not a rule).
Battery should be the same on all since they use same code and kernel.
Graphic Customization: AOKP is the Best
Settings and options: CM9 is the best
Stability + Battery: I personally prefer SlimRom or Stock cuz it has the most required customization and its very slim( about 80 mb) so probably lighter on your phone.
I wasn't trying to convince him. I know he'll choose whatever rom he wants and that's not for me to decide and/or judge. I was merely stating why most of us choose the roms we choose which is what I interpreted the question to be. The reasons I gave are the reasons I choose the roms I choose. I don't mean to speak for everyone, but that would be the most basic reason to choose a rom other than just to try out what is out there but we ultimately stick with certain roms due to what's included in the rom as well as the stability of it, although as stated before by more than just me, the ICS roms have the same bugs and therefor the same stability issues. Again, not trying to step on anyone's toes, I don't claim to speak for everyone, but I answered the question as I interpreted it.
Also, as to specific roms, I'd be here all day if I chose to speak on that because I started using custom roms on my old G1 and I've tried out probably over 100 roms for various phones over the last few years. For that matter, I could go way back to the days of the Motorola Razor and a few other phones out around the same time, but I was speaking more about android roms. As far as the roms is concerned I don't care if it's miui, ICS, AOKP, etc. If it has the features I'm looking for and is stable, then I use it until something comes around I like better.
I went with AOKP because
It had full source code and I could modify it as I wanted
I liked the layout of toggles
AOKP ROM Control had features I wanted
I could long-press Back to kill a process
It has "quiet hours"
It has decent control of background data use
I knew where the kernel came from and it has full source code
I knew where all binaries came from and it has full source code
I know the last two of these are an absolute requirement under GPL, but many ROM "authors" fail to provide this information.
AOKP has some "crap" that I freeze to improve performance, but I haven't run out of on-phone storage yet.
CyanogenMod 9, for me, wasn't quite as "usable" as AOKP, the way I use my phone.
MIUI is too "Technicolor" and gimmicky for me. Most of what it has (other than a decent File Explorer, when it doesn't crash) I consider "bloat."
SLIM seemed like a good candidate, but without easy access to full source and the ability to build as I desired, it wasn't on my short list. I tried Lightning or whatever its "default" launcher is, but it had a couple things that just didn't allow me to set up my phone the way I wanted (paging is "wonky" to the way I have come to think of a launcher).
Kernel -- Well, Hefe Kernel pretty clearly added what I wanted; better battery life without significant impact in responsiveness. I'm glad others find what works for me helping them out too.
The Zip-n-Go ROMs don't, in general, excite me. I'm not a big theme guy and I can add/remove what I want pretty easily myself.
@krazymonkeys
I understand your point. I also try everything and then stick to one ROM.
@eollie
Thanks bro.
@jeff
That's the best example of kind of answer I was looking for. Thanks!
I'm on Erik's MIUI 2.8.10.
I tried it because I like the UI: I like the notification bar and full screen toggles, I like the kill app back button feature, the task manager combined task killer home button and all the sys apps. It is super fast, lighweight and easy to use. It is stable and gives instant GPS lock.
Only problem is the battery consumption, but it's kernel related I believe.

I tried MIUI but it is too bright. Don't get me wrong. I like it a lot. But since we don't have Automatic Brightness, then it was a pain. Anyway, it's a great ROM and I think battery didn't drain more than it does on other ROMs. What I love most about MIUI is the phone and text's apps.
