[Q][(what app is this?)Music Rhythm Game - General Questions and Answers

I was recently at MLG (for those of you who know what that is) and I saw this guy playing a music game on his samsung android phone (think it mightve been a captivate). The game looked like a rock band/ guitar hero type game, but there were a few distinctive features that make it stand out.
1. played in landscape
2. had 5 note buttons
3. included a slide across button transition (like on a hold note, you would slide your finger from one button to the other while keeping your finger on the screen)
I'm kind of a shy guy, and wasn't willing to ask him. I totally regret it now because I am really curious on what game this is. Thanks for helping me identify this.

Tap Sonic. Korean only for now. Its great.
Sent from my Fascinate with MIUI Gingerbread

thanks for the fast reply! i wonder how that guy got it. maybe he was korean.

Yup, its just for the Korean for now. But you can still play it with just the free songs available (5 only for now). You can grab it in their market, but you won't be able to get the free music point. I don't know if the voucher system works though.
8penned from my blazing fast DHD

any way to download latest one?
I cannot access download on the market, on website it says not available in your country and when using market on the phone with market enabler (tried 45002-45008 codes for Korea) Tap Sonic isn't even listed there

I'm looking for beta testers for my first app: Rock Anywhere

I've created a simple application called: Rock Anywhere. The application allows you to control your music player from ANYWHERE on your phone. It doesn't matter if you are browsing the internet, reading an ebook, or playing Angry Birds, you can literally change the track from anywhere on your phone.
This is accomplished by launching the application 1 of 3 ways:
From the notification pane
trigger off of the volume rocker
Long pressing the search button
You can disable the first two options in the app. To disable the 3rd simply select a different default application. Whenever the application is triggered a dialog pops up that tells you the current song and presents controls allowing you to jump forwards or backwards.
I've also added what I'm calling a super button to the dialog. The super button is a quick shortcut to many different things. you can use it to compose an SMS, send an email, open your browser, or initiate a voice search. (I plan on expanding this list soon).
So far I only support 3 media players:
Stock Android
HTC Sense
^3 (cubed)
I'd really like to be able to support all of the different media players I even contacted the developers of all the major media players asking for help to integrate players controls for their app into mine. Most of them have told me to screw off.
Here are a few screenshots:
http://imgur.com/o0LEG
http://imgur.com/NXlsd
http://imgur.com/fJ322
You can download a beta version from here. It will only be available for a few days. This does not have ads although it has a place holder for where ads will go. I'm planning on releasing a Ad based and free version.
A few phones don't support the search long press, this is a problem with their stock ROMs, phones that I know don't work are:
Droid X
MyTouch 4g
Nice.. I'll give it a shot, sounds cool!
Neither of the 3 players in the presets are installed, as i use power amp i cant and wont use this appication. Installing on my x10 went well though.

I contacted PowerAmp and WinAmp about being able to support their players and PowerAmp told me that maybe in their next version they'll open up and let 3rd parties control their player. I never heard back from winamp.
Very nice. Works with MusicMod by Elliot Stocker too. How about MIUI? Did you talk to them? What do you think the final version would cost? I don't mind ads but it kind of bugged me in this app for some reason.
I haven't tried it on any non-stock roms so I'm glad to hear it works under MusicMod. I've actually released a Pro and Free version in the market. The pro version $1.00 and the free is free.

It's worth a buck for any one who is using one of the supported players.
MusicMod is stock on CM based roms so you've got hell of user base covered already. I'll be watching this... hoping for MIUI support, shouldn't be too hard - it's based on stock I want to say.
try to contact the guy that made this:

[APP] Prox: Control of The Force :) A new way to command your phone...

Hello all! I had a thread but it was locked because it was a paid app. Now, there is a free one to check out. It's called Prox Lite and it has just been added to the Android market.
Prox makes use of the phone's proximity sensor and accelerometer to initiate an action. Prox figures out what orientation you are holding the phone and then activates that action when you swipe your hand across the proximity sensor. Prox Lite has 4 actions:
*Flat - Emulate home button
*Toward - Expand and contract notification panel
*Left - Launch phone dialer
*Right - Launch browser (google.com)
All you have to do is turn on the service through the app and then tilt the phone in the direction you are trying to activate the action for and then pass your hand over the proximity sensor and it will activate the action for that direction.
You can amaze your friends, and feel like a Jedi. Imagine the look on your friend's faces when you do things without even touching the phone itself. Just to ease your mind, Prox is disabled when the screen is off and when you are in a call. Normal proximity sensor usage is preserved during these situations to you don't have to worry about Prox doing things when you don't want it to

Here is a video of it in action (Pro version) if the description I have provided doesn't really make any sense Be sure to follow me on Twitter: @SemperGumbee for updates and support.
Here is another video made by one of our own members here at XDA. Thanks patrick848!
He also wrote a little write up here if you want to check it out.
And, here is a link to the android market
Download Prox Lite from Android Market
Download Prox Lite from GetJar
If you have an issue where it doesn't show up in the market or it says that your device is incompatible, I have made Prox Lite available to XDA peeps via direct apk. If your device will allow install from the market, please use the link above, otherwise, click here to download the apk directly. Downloading from the market allows for easier tracking so I would appreciate it if you would download it from there This is for the members that cannot find the version because of certain software...
P.S. Some users are having trouble with making this work properly. If you are having issues with the left and right actions, try just a slight tilt and then a swipe. Refer to the video for an example of this. Also, different phones have different proximity sensors and some of them just happen to work better than others. Give it a try to see what you think and don't forget to leave a rating in the market. I hope you enjoy this app

This is really cool. My biggest concern right now, having only just tried it for a few minutes, is potential battery drain. If it doesn't end up being too bad, i may consider trying the full version. It would be nice to be able to hide the notification bar icon, but the full version may already have that.
Battery drain is really not all that bad. The listeners are unregistered when the screen goes off. During normal phone use during the beta a few months ago, Prox was only using around 3 - 4 % battery during a normal day. But alas, this depends entirely on how much you actually use the phone itself. If your screen is on for the better part of the day, then drain will occur. But under normal use, it really isn't that bad. Thanks for the feedback

Yeah. I was originally going to put it into the Productivity category on the market, but I think it's more of a novelty than an actual productive applications. It's just cool to show people. There are some things in the paid version that can be put to actual use though. There is a Timer mode that activates an action based on how long you cover the sensor. It could be useful in a car dock or a cradle at home.
What version of Android are you running?

Forgot to quote. What version of Android are you running?
I picked up the pro version. So far it's pretty solid. Battery drain is pretty much non-existent, maybe 2% with a lot of screen time.
Some things I would like to see:
Tasker integration (this would be the best addition by far).
A combination of the Timed and normal types so you could hold over the sensor longer for a different option.
Being able to hide the icon in notifications.
Media button options like Previous Track, Play/Pause, Next Track.
Simulating a long-press of the search button to bring up Voice Actions.
Profiles that automatically change based on what app you're in.
Thanks for making this, I've been using it a lot today, and it has already become habit. Keeps my screen cleaner, too.

Im glad that you're liking it! A lot of the things you have mentioned have already been pointed out to me and I am thinking which ones will actually be possible. Some of the things will require root access. But I have a summer job atm (10 1/2 hour days) so I am not really tinkering with it right now. When I get back into school mode, you can pretty much expect to see some if not all of this added to the pro version. I appreciate the feedback and be on the lookout to some awesome future updates
P.S. please leave a comment and rating in the market
Do you have it on any other markets? AndroidPIT, SlideME or anything similar where I can buy it with a paypal account?
For some reason the Android Market site says it's only compatible with my Wildfire and not my Desire HD :S

It is not currently on any other market but the Android Market. I may add it to some of the ones you have mentioned but it may be a bit before it gets there.
My portal says that it should show up as compatible for the Desire HD. I see that you are running MIUI so that may be the reason for it not showing up. Some custom ROMs and leaked builds of Android cause this and I have no reason why.
I love the camera holding thing.

Scrabble for tablets (link provided)

Download or update scrabble for tablets. Instant notifications' play facebook friends, instant chat view and dictionary ,To me this is now way better than words with friends
http://www.apktop.com/scrabble-1-12-44.html
i would get it if I could find it on the market. I can't find it
I actually like the words with friends interface better. The new tablet version is a lot better than it used to be. They also added Facebook functionality recently.
The scrabble app is nice too though. I don't think you can go wrong with either of them on this tablet.

Thanks for telling about this. It would be even better if you could provide a link to download it. Not listed in Market, Amazon or Google.
The EA site lists one version only of Android. Nothing special for Tablet. They also have a version for IPAD? Does that work on the Transformer?
Nice thought though.
wordfued is still my favorite.... the full screen ads of the other two drive me mental...

Can't download it in my country . Could someone post the apk?
I love it! The "Teacher" feature is nice too. Much faster than Words with Friends.
Able to view it in the market but it keeps saying purchase cancelled.

Its good but scrabble has instant notifications so me and my girl played a whole game in less than 30 minutes. And the eye candy is a huge bonus to.
Link now posted uptop
I installed the first version, and uninstalled it about 10 minutes later. Does this new version fix all the things wrong with the earlier version -- namely overall speed, and the odd long loading time when you left the app and went back from a notification? For example WwF and Wordfeud, when you touch a notification, you're taken to the app in a couple of seconds. With Scrabble, you'd touch the notification and then a splash screen would appear for 10+ seconds while it reloaded the huge app into memory.
Wordfued FTW!

[Game] NCube released into the wild

NCube is a simple rubik's cube app. 2x2x2 - 10x10x10. Can save/load cubes. Has a relatively straight-forward multi-touch interface (and a single-touch only mode). Free, no adds, minimal permissions. APK is a tiny 22KB too.
It seemed to be well-liked when it was in the android market (about 20k downloads and 4.7 / 5 rating).
A week shy of a year ago, the google play store yanked it on behalf of Rubik's for "trademark infringement". Curious, because the top rubik's cube apps are still full of apps actually using "Rubik" in the name while mine did not.
Anyhow, I've long since moved on (I originally wrote it in 16 hours, so not too invested), but recently some one suggested I just release the APK for anyone who really wants it to have. So here it is: NCube free download.
Also, If I'm not using XDA correctly, let me know. I'm new here.
Version 125: old UI with single-touch multi-touch modes, and circle menus.
Version 131: android-menu based UI with single mode optimized for multi-touch and supports up to 20x20x20 cubes.

I was one of those 20k. I broke my phone that had Ncube from the Playstore on it and by the time I had it replaced I couldn't find it anymore. Thanks for ending my hunt. Also all I did to install is downloaded straight to internal storage and allowed a one time install from third party request. Nothing else and the apk works fine. N900A...

Hi Kyle,
Is there any chance that a Ncube with more than a 10x10x10 option will ever see light? I would love to try higher order cubes using your pretty cool app. I would even offer to pay you.

I've been meaning to clean up the UI for a while - probably using the standard android options menu. I could add up to 20x20x20 while I'm at it. I'll reply again when I've got something.

Here's an apk. I fear it could get very laggy for larger cubes - which would take a bit more time for me to fix. Any feedback is welcome.
1.31: Tested on Galaxy S3. Fixed move-count after scrambling and fixed rotation glitch when transitioning from single-to-multitouch.

Doom 3 runs great on our phone :)

There's plenty of info on Doom 3 here on XDA but I just wanted to let you all know that it runs very well on our device.
I've just finished playing the whole way through using a Moga Pro, with graphics set to 'ultra' using the in-game menu, plus a few tweaks in the config file. A lot of the time the frame rate sits at 60, and on a few occasions slows down into the 40s. I'm guessing it gets lower than that at times as there is a little stuttering here and there but it's over very quickly and then recovers to maximum again.
I'm using the game data from an installation on my PC that I made using a CD ROM purchased for £5 years ago from the 'sold out' range of PC titles, but you can still download it from Steam I believe.
You need to have the game patched to version 1.3.1 on your PC before copying the 'base' folder over to your device. Place it inside a folder called 'diii4a' in internal storage, then download the free Diii4a app from the Play Store.
See below for screenshots showing what options I have checked/unchecked in the launcher app. I'll attach a couple of in-game screenshots and also my config file that sits in the base folder.
There are a few glitches in the game. In some places glass textures do not load. In some areas the teleportation lighting effects look blocky. I didn't bother trying any further tweaks as it didn't spoil the experience.
If you get choppy or distorted sound, just come out of the game and launch the diii4a app again.
Finally, note that in the diii4a launcher app you can configure the on screen controls in the game. You need to find somewhere to put the keyboard icon if you want to have access to the console in game. You can also adjust the opacity of the on screen controls so that they don't get in the way.
Oops, config file....
Also, there's a glitch where the ammo counter doesn't show on the mini-gun.

Well, the app is free so you just need the game data. If you don't have a Steam account, you could buy a PC CD ROM of the game from eBay or somewhere like that. There will secondhand ones kicking around....
Edit. There are loads on eBay UK for under £4. Not sure where you are, but there will be some about if you want to keep things legit.
Please assist on Oneplus 5
hi guys!
Can you please help me? I'm trying to make it run on my OP5.
The diii4a launches and all that, but when I touch on New Game, I get stuck on the loading screen foreer.
the bar fills up, but nothing else happens... the screen just freezes.
I'm currently on Android Pie using Open Beta 35, non rooted device.
